The emergence of two-dimensional crystals has revolutionized modern solid-state physics. From a fundamental point of view, the enhancement of charge carrier correlations has sparked enormous research activities in the transport- and quantum optics communities. One of the most intriguing effects, in this regard, is the bosonic condensation and spontaneous coherence of many-particle complexes. Here, we find compelling evidence of bosonic condensation of exciton-polaritons emerging from an atomically thin crystal of MoSe2 embedded in a dielectric microcavity under optical pum**. The formation of the condensate manifests itself in a sudden increase of luminescence intensity in a threshold-like manner, and a significant spin-polarizability in an externally applied magnetic field. Spatial coherence is mapped out via highly resolved real-space interferometry, revealing a spatially extended condensate. Our device represents a decisive step towards the implementation of coherent light-sources based on atomically thin crystals, as well as non-linear, valleytronic coherent devices.

Atomically thin crystals of transition metal dichalcogenides are ideally suited to study the interplay of light-matter coupling, polarization and magnetic field effects. In this work, we investiagte the formation of exciton-polaritons in a MoSe2 monolayer, which is integrated in a fully-grown, monolithic microcavity. Due to the narrow linewidth of the polaritonic resonances, we are able to directly investigate the emerging valley Zeeman splitting of the hybrid light-matter resonances in the presence of a magnetic field. At a detuning of -54.5 meV (13.5 % matter constituent of the lower polariton branch), we find a Zeeman splitting of the lower polariton branch of 0.36 meV, which can be directly associated with an excitonic g factor of 3.94\pm0.13. Remarkably, we find that a magnetic field of 6T is sufficient to induce a notable valley polarization of 15 % in our polariton system, which approaches 30% at 9T. Strikingly, this circular polarization degree of the polariton (ground) state exceeds the polarization of the exciton reservoir for equal magnetic field magnitudes by approximately 50%, as a consequence of enhanced relaxation of bosons in our monolayer-based system.

Condensation of bosons into a macroscopic quantum state belongs to the most intriguing phenomena in nature. It was first realized in quantum gases of ultra-cold atoms, but more recently became accessible in open-dissipative, exciton-based solid-state systems at elevated temperatures. Semiconducting monolayer crystals have emerged as a new platform for studies of strongly bound excitons in ultimately thin materials. Here, we demonstrate the formation of a bosonic condensate driven by excitons hosted in an atomically thin layer of MoSe2, strongly coupled to light in a solid-state resonator. The structure is operated in the regime of collective strong coupling, giving rise to hybrid exciton-polariton modes composed of a Tamm-plasmon resonance, GaAs quantum well excitons and two-dimensional excitons confined in a monolayer of MoSe2. Polariton condensation in a monolayer crystal manifests by a superlinear increase of emission intensity from the hybrid polariton mode at injection powers as low as 4.8 pJ/pulse, as well as its density-dependent blueshift and a dramatic collapse of the emission linewidth as a hallmark of temporal coherence. Importantly, we observe a significant spin-polarization in the injected polariton condensate, a fingerprint of the core property of monolayer excitons subject to spin-valley locking. The observed effects clearly underpin the perspective of building novel highly non-linear valleytronic devices based on light-matter fluids, coherent bosonic light sources based on atomically thin materials, and paves the way towards studying materials with unconventional topological properties in the framework of bosonic condensation.

In recent work of Bringmann, Guerzhoy, and the first author, p-adic modular forms were constructed from mock modular forms. This paper proves explicit congruences for these p-adic modular forms.

Asymtotics for Moments of Higher Ranks
Authors:
Matthias Waldherr
Abstract:
Bringmann, Mahlburg, and Rhoades have found asymptotic expressions for all moments of the partition statistics rank and crank. In this work we extend their methods to higher ranks. The $T$-rank, introduced by Garvan, for odd integers T=3 is a natural generalization of the rank (T=3) and crank (T=1).

A Maass Lifting of $Θ^3$ and Class Numbers of Real and imaginary Quadratic Fields

Abstract:
We give an explicit construct of a harmonic weak Maass form $F_Θ$ that is a "lift" of $Θ^3$, where $Θ$ is the classical Jacobi theta function. Just as the Fourier coefficients of $Θ^3$ are related to class numbers of imaginary quadratic fields, the Fourier coefficients of the "holomorphic part" of $F_Θ$ are associated to class numbers of real quadratic fields.

Abstract:
Recently, Garthwaite-Penniston have shown that the coefficients of Ramanujan's mock theta function $ω$ satisfy infinitely many congruences of Ramanujan-type. In this work we give the first explicit examples of congruences for Ramanujan's mock theta function $ω$ and another mock theta function $\mathcal{C}$.
