The monolayer of $\textrm{CrI}_3$ has been reported to exhibit the ferromagnetic order, with a Curie temperature of $45 K$ and off-plane easy axis, which has attracted much attention in the community of condensed matter physics. Using the Density Matrix Renormalization Group method, we investigate the role of correlation effects and using classical Monte Carlo simulations analyze the nature of phase transitions in the XXZ Hamiltonian on a honeycomb lattice, which can effectively model $\textrm{CrI}_3$. We show, that the magnetic ordering of the Hamiltonian's ground state can be well approximated by classical models in a wide range of an anisotropy parameter space. Using classical Monte Carlo simulations we estimate the Curie temperature of $49.7 K$ which is in good agreement with experimental result.

We investigate an interaction-driven transition between crystalline and liquid states of strongly correlated spinless fermions within topological flat bands at low density (with filling factors $ν=1/5$, $1/7$, $1/9$). Using exact diagonalization for finite size systems with periodic boundary conditions, we distinguish different phases, whose stability depends on the interaction range, controlled by the screening parameter of the Coulomb interaction. The crystalline phases are identified by a crystallization strength, calculated from the Fourier transforms of pair correlation density, while the Fractional Chern insulator phases are characterized using momentum counting rules, entanglement spectrum, and overlaps with corresponding Fractional Quantum Hall states. The type of the phase depends on a particular single particle model and its topological properties. We show that for $ν=1/7$ and $1/5$ it is possible to tune between the Wigner crystal and Fractional Chern insulator phase in the kagome lattice model with the band carrying the Chern number $C=1$. In contrast, in the $C=2$ models, the Wigner crystallization was absent at $ν=1/5$, and appeared at $ν=1/9$, suggesting that $C=2$ FCIs are more stable against the formation of crystalline order

While the $ν=2+4/9$ state proposed here directly follows three simpler parton states, all known to occur in the second LL, it is topologically distinct from the Jain composite fermion (CF) state which occurs at the same $ν=4/9$ filling of the lowest LL. The nature of the state at low Landau-level filling factors has been a longstanding puzzle in the field of the fractional quantum Hall effect. While theoretical calculations suggest that a crystal is favored at filling factors $ν\lesssim 1/6$, experiments show, at somewhat elevated temperatures, minima in the longitudinal resistance that are associated with fractional quantum Hall effect at $ν=$ 1/7, 2/11, 2/13, 3/17, 3/19, 1/9, 2/15 and 2/17, which belong to the standard sequences $ν=n/(6n\pm 1)$ and $ν=n/(8n\pm 1)$. To address this paradox, we investigate the nature of some of the low-$ν$ states, specifically $ν=1/7$, $2/13$, and $1/9$, by variational Monte Carlo, density matrix renormalization group, and exact diagonalization methods. We conclude that in the thermodynamic limit, these are likely to be incompressible fractional quantum Hall liquids, albeit with strong short-range crystalline correlations. This suggests a natural explanation for the experimentally observed behavior and a rich phase diagram that admits, in the low-disorder limit, a multitude of crystal-FQHE liquid transitions as the filling factor is reduced.

In the emission spectra we resolve and identify two trion peaks, T$_{1}$ and T$_{2}$, resembling the pair of singlet and triplet trion peaks (T$_S$ and T$_{T}$) in tungsten-based materials. However, in polarization-dependent photoluminescence measurements we identify these peaks as novel intra- and inter-valley singlet trions, constituting the trion fine structure distinct from that already known in bright and dark 2D materials with large conduction-band splitting induced by the spin-orbit coupling. We show that the trion energy splitting in MoS$_{2}$ is a sensitive probe of inter- and intra-valley carrier interaction. With additional support from theory we claim that the existence of these singlet trions combined with an anomalous excitonic g-factor and the characteristic temperature dependence of the emission spectra together suggest that monolayer MoS$_{2}$ has a dark excitonic ground state, despite having "bright" single-particle arrangement of spin-polarized conduction bands.

Theory predicts that double layer systems realize "two-component composite fermions," which are formed when electrons capture both intra- and inter-layer vortices, to produce a wide variety of new strongly correlated liquid and crystal states as a function of the layer separation. Recent experiments in double layer graphene have revealed a large number of layer-correlated fractional quantum Hall states in the lowest Landau level, many of which have not been studied quantitatively in previous theoretical works. We consider the competition between various liquid and crystal states at several of these filling factors (specifically, the states at total filling factors $ν=3/7$, $4/9$, $6/11$, $4/7$, $3/5$, $2/3$, and $4/5$) to determine the theoretical phase diagram as a function of the layer separation. We compare our results with experiments and identify various observed states. In particular, we show that at small layer separations the states at total fillings $ν=3/7$ and $ν=3/5$ are partially pseudospin polarized, where pseudospin refers to the layer index. For certain fractions, such as $ν=3/7$, interlayer correlations are predicted to survive to surprisingly large interlayer separations.

Trial wavefunctions like the Moore-Read and Read-Rezayi states which minimize short range multibody interactions are candidate states for describing the fractional quantum Hall effects at filling factors $ν= 1/2$ and $ν= 2/5$ in the second Landau level. These trial wavefunctions are unique zero energy states of three body and four body interaction Hamiltonians respectively but are not close to the ground states of the Coulomb interaction. Previous studies using extensive parameter scans have found optimal two body interactions that produce states close to these. Here we focus on short ranged four body interaction and study two mean field approximations that reduce the four body interactions to two body interactions by replacing composite operators with their incompressible ground state expectation values. We present the results for pseudopotentials of these approximate interactions. Comparison of finite system spectra of the four body and the approximate interactions at filling fraction $ν=3/5$ show that these approximations produce good effective descriptions of the low energy structure of the four body ineraction Hamiltonian. The approach also independently reproduces the optimal two body interaction inferred from parameter scans. We also show that for $n=3$, but not for $n=4$, the mean field approximations of the $n$-body interaction is equivalent to particle hole symmetrization of the interaction.

Some Jack states are known or anticipated to accurately describe many-electron incompressible ground states emergent from the {\em two-body} Coulomb repulsion in fractional quantum Hall effect. By extensive numerical diagonalization we demonstrate emergence of Jack states from suitable pair interactions. We find empirically a simple formula for the optimal two-body pseudopotentials for the series of most prominent Jack states generated by {\em contact} many-body repulsion. Furthermore, we seek realization of arbitrary Jack states in realistic quantum Hall systems with Coulomb interaction, i.e., in partially filled lowest and excited Landau levels in quasi-two-dimensional layers of conventional semiconductors like GaAs or in graphene.

We investigate topological phase transitions in Chern insulators within three-band models, focusing on the empty band and lowest band populated by spinless fermions. We consider Lieb and kagome lattices and notice phase transitions driven by the hop** integral between nearest-neighbors, which leads to the change of the lowest band Chern number from $C=1$ to $C=-1$. In the single-particle picture, different phases are examined by investigating corresponding entanglement spectra and the evolution of the entanglement entropy. Entanglement spectra reveal the spectral flow characteristic of topologically nontrivial systems before and after phase transitions. For the lowest band with $1/3$ filling, Fractional Chern insulator (FCI) phases are identified by examining the ground state momenta, the spectral flow, and counting of the entanglement energy levels below the gap in the entanglement spectrum. A quasilinear dependence of the entanglement entropy $α(n_A)$ term is observed for FCI phase, similarly to linear behavior expected for Laughlin phase in the fractional quantum Hall effect. At the topological phase transition, for both empty and partially filled lowest bands, the energy gap closure and a discontinuity in the entanglement entropy are observed. This coincides with the divergence of a standard deviation of the Berry curvature. We notice also a phase transition driven by the nearest-neighbor interaction in the Lieb lattice, where the many-body energy gap closes. The phase transitions are shown to be stable for an arbitrary system size, thus predicted to be present in the thermodynamic limit. While our calculations are performed for an interaction energy far exceeding the gap between the two lowest energy bands, we note that the higher band does not affect the phase transitions, however destabilizes FCI phases.

Electronic structures are studied using multi-orbital tight-binding model, with structural stability confirmed through first-principles calculations. Topologically non-trivial nature of Bi bilayer is proved by the presence of spectral flow in the entanglement spectrum. We consider topological phase transitions driven by a composition change $x$, an applied external electric field in pure Bi, and strain in pure Sb. Composition- and strain-induced phase transitions reveal a finite discontinuity in the entanglement entropy. However, this quantity remains a continuous function of electric field strength, but shows a discontinuity in the first derivative. We relate the difference in behavior of the entanglement entropy to breaking of the inversion symmetry in the last case.

We report on an accurate quantitative study of this physics, evaluating the effect of Landau-level mixing in a nonperturbative manner using a fixed-phase diffusion Monte Carlo method. We find excellent agreement between our calculated critical Zeeman energies and the experimentally measured values. In particular, we find, as also do experiments, that the critical Zeeman energies for fractional quantum Hall states at filling factors $ν=2-n/(2n\pm 1)$ are significantly higher than those for $ν=n/(2n\pm 1)$, a quantitative signature of the lifting of particle-hole symmetry due to Landau-level mixing.

A theoretical model, which relates the binding energy of a positively charged exciton in a quantum dot with the confinement energy is presented. It is shown that the binding energy, defined as the energy difference between the corresponding charged and neutral complexes confined on the same excitonic shell strongly depends on the shell index. Moreover, it is shown that the ratio of the binding energy for positively charged excitons from the $p$- and $s$-shells of a dot depends mainly on the nearly perfect confinement in the dot, which is due to the "hidden symmetry" of the multi-electron-hole system. We applied the theory to the excitons confined to a single GaAlAs/AlAs quantum dots. The relevant binding energy was determined using the micro-photoluminescence and micro-photoluminescence excitation magneto-spectroscopy. We show that within our theory, the confinement energy determined using the ratio of the binding energy corresponds well to the actual confinement energy of the investigated dot.

The observation of extensive fractional quantum Hall states in graphene brings out the possibility of more accurate quantitative comparisons between theory and experiment than previously possible, because of the negligibility of finite width corrections. We obtain accurate phase diagram for differently spin-polarized fractional quantum Hall states, and also estimate the effect of Landau level mixing using the modified interaction pseudopotentials given in the literature. We find that the observed phase diagram is in good quantitative agreement with theory that neglects Landau level mixing, but the agreement becomes significantly worse when Landau level mixing is incorporated assuming that the corrections to the energies are linear in the Landau level mixing parameter $λ$. This implies that a first order perturbation theory in $λ$ is inadequate for the current experimental systems, for which $λ$ is typically on the order of or greater than one. We also test the accuracy of the composite-fermion theory and find that all lowest Landau level projection methods used in the literature are very accurate for the states of the form $n/(2n+1)$ but for the states at $n/(2n-1)$ the results are more sensitive to the projection method. An earlier prediction of an absence of spin transitions for the $n/(4n+1)$ states is confirmed by more rigorous calculations, and new predictions are made regarding spin physics for the $n/(4n-1)$ states.

Motivated by recent experiments that reveal expansive fractional quantum Hall states in the $n=1$ graphene Landau level and suggest a nontrivial role of the spin degree of freedom [Amet {\em et al.}, Nat. Common. {\bf 6}, 5838 (2014)], we perform accurate quantitative study of the the competition between fractional quantum Hall states with different spin polarizations. We find that the fractional quantum Hall effect is well described in terms of composite fermions, but the spin physics is qualitatively different from that in the $n=0$ Landau level. In particular, for the states at filling factors $n/(2n\pm 1)$, both exact diagonalization and the composite fermion theory show that the ground state is fully spin polarized and supports a robust spin wave mode even in the limit of vanishing Zeeman coupling. Thus, even though composite fermions are formed, a mean field description that treats them as weakly interacting particles breaks down, and the exchange interaction between them is strong enough to cause a qualitative change in the behavior by inducing full spin polarization. We also verify that the fully spin polarized composite fermion Fermi sea has lower energy than the paired Pfaffian state at the relevant half fillings in the $n=1$ graphene Landau level, indicating a lack of fractional quantum Hall effect at half filling in the $n=1$ graphene Landau level.

While the integer quantum Hall effect of composite fermions manifests as the prominent fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) of electrons, the FQHE of composite fermions produces further, more delicate states, arising from a weak residual interaction between composite fermions. We study the spin phase diagram of these states, motivated by the recent experimental observation by Liu {\em et al.} \cite{Liu14a,Liu14b} of several spin-polarization transitions at 4/5, 5/7, 6/5, 9/7, 7/9, 8/11 and 10/13 in GaAs systems. We show that the FQHE of composite fermions is much more prevalent in multicomponent systems, and consider the feasibility of such states for systems with ${\cal N}$ components for an SU(${\cal N}$) symmetric interaction. Our results apply to GaAs quantum wells, wherein electrons have two components, to AlAs quantum wells and graphene, wherein electrons have four components (two spins and two valleys), and to an H-terminated Si(111) surface, which can have six components. The aim of this article is to provide a fairly comprehensive list of possible incompressible fractional quantum Hall states of composite fermions, their SU(${\cal N}$) spin content, their energies, and their phase diagram as a function of the generalized "Zeeman" energy. We obtain results at three levels of approximation: from ground state wave functions of the composite fermion theory, from composite fermion diagonalization, and, whenever possible, from exact diagonalization. Effects of finite quantum well thickness and Landau level mixing are neglected in this study. We compare our theoretical results with the experiments of Liu {\em et al.} \cite{Liu14a,Liu14b} as well as of Yeh {\em et al.} \cite{Yeh99} for a two component system.

The fractional quantum Hall effect has inspired searches for exotic emergent topological particles, such as fractionally charged excitations, composite fermions, abelian and nonabelian anyons and Majorana fermions. Fractionally charged skyrmions, which support both topological charge and topological vortex-like spin structure, have also been predicted to occur in the vicinity of 1/3 filling of the lowest Landau level. The fractional skyrmions, however, are anticipated to be exceedingly fragile, suppressed by very small Zeeman energies. Here we show that, slightly away from 1/3 filling, the smallest manifestations of the fractional skyrmion exist in the excitation spectrum for a broad range of Zeeman energies, and appear in resonant inelastic light scattering experiments as well-defined resonances slightly below the long wavelength spin wave mode. The spectroscopy of these exotic bound states serves as a sensitive tool for investigating the residual interaction between composite fermions, responsible for delicate new fractional quantum Hall states in this filling factor region.

We study the critical spin-polarization energy ($α_{\rm C}$) above which fractional quantum Hall states in two-dimensional electron systems confined to symmetric GaAs quantum wells become fully spin-polarized. We find a significant decrease of $α_{\rm C}$ as we increase the well-width. In systems with comparable electron layer thickness, $α_{\rm C}$ for fractional states near Landau level filling $ν=3/2$ is about twice larger than those near $ν=1/2$, suggesting a broken particle-hole symmetry. Theoretical calculations, which incorporate Landau level mixing through an effective three-body interaction, and finite layer thickness, capture certain qualitative features of the experimental results.

We make a compelling case that FQHE is possible here for fully spin polarized composite fermions, but with an unconventional underlying physics. Thanks to a rather unusual interaction between composite fermions, FQHE here results from the suppression of pairs with relative angular momentum {\em three} rather than one, confirming the exotic mechanism proposed by Wójs, Yi and Quinn [Phys. Rev. B {\bf 69}, 205322 (2004)]. We predict that the 4/11 state reported a decade ago by Pan {\em et al.} [Phys. Rev. Exact diagonalization studies have revealed that the energy spectrum of interacting electrons in the lowest Landau level splits, non-perturbatively, into bands, which is responsible for the fascinating phenomenology of this system. The theory of nearly free composite fermions has been shown to be valid for the lowest band, and thus to capture the low temperature physics, but it over-predicts the number of states for the excited bands. We explain the state counting of higher bands in terms of composite fermions with an infinitely strong short range interaction between an excited composite-fermion particle and the hole it leaves behind. This interaction, the form of which we derive from the microscopic composite fermion theory, eliminates configurations containing certain tightly bound composite-fermion excitons. With this modification, the composite-fermion theory reproduces, for all well-defined excited bands seen in exact diagonalization studies, an exact counting for $ν>1/3$, and an almost exact counting for $ν\leq 1/3$. The resulting insight clarifies that the corrections to the nearly free composite fermion theory are not thermodynamically significant at sufficiently low temperatures, thus providing a microscopic explanation for why it has proved successful for the analysis of the various properties of the composite-fermion Fermi sea.

Such systems exhibit the degenerate shell of edge states in the middle of the energy gap occupied by spin polarized electrons. Disorder affects the energy spectrum and leads to the removal of the degeneracy, and in a consequence the loss of the magnetization. We find that there is a critical value of disorder strength over which the magnetization starts drop**. We first consider GQDs with different shapes and edge termination and compare the effect of bulk and edge disorder. We find that bulk disorder influences the energy spectrum far away from the Fermi level while edge disorder affects states in the vicinity of it. We next focus on Lieb GQDs with a single zigzag edge. The stability of the ferromagnetic order against disorder strength is analyzed for structures with a different edge length. The probability of getting maximal spin polarization is determined.

The Read-Rezayi wave function is one of the candidates for the fractional quantum Hall effect at filling fraction $ν=2+\nicefrac{3}{5}$, and thereby also its hole conjugate at $2+\nicefrac{2}{5}$. We study a general class of "tripartite" composite fermion wave functions, which reduce to the Read-Rezayi ground state and quasiholes for appropriate quantum numbers, but also allow a construction of wave functions for quasiparticles and neutral excitations by analogy to the standard composite fermion theory. We present numerical evidence in finite systems that these trial wave functions capture well the low energy physics of a 4-body model interaction. We also compare the tripartite composite fermion wave functions with the exact Coulomb eigenstates at $2+\nicefrac{3}{5}$, and find reasonably good agreement. The ground state as well as several excited states of the 4-body interaction are seen to evolve adiabatically into the corresponding Coulomb states for N=15 particles. These results support the plausibility of the Read-Rezayi proposal for the $2+\nicefrac{2}{5}$ and $2+\nicefrac{3}{5}$ fractional quantum Hall effect. However, certain other proposals also remain viable, and further study of excitations and edge states will be necessary for a decisive establishment of the physical mechanism of these fractional quantum Hall states.

We present a theory of electronic properties of gated triangular graphene quantum dots with zigzag edges as a function of size and carrier density. We focus on electronic correlations, spin and geometrical effects using a combination of atomistic tight-binding, Hartree-Fock and configuration interaction methods (TB+HF+CI) including long range Coulomb interactions. The single particle energy spectrum of triangular dots with zigzag edges exhibits a degenerate shell at the Fermi level with a degeneracy N_{edge} proportional to the edge size. We determine the effect of the electron-electron interactions on the ground state, the total spin and the excitation spectrum as a function of a shell filling and the degeneracy of the shell using TB+HF+CI for N_{edge} < 12 and approximate CI method for N_{edge}\geq 12. For a half-filled neutral shell we find spin polarized ground state for structures up to N=500 atoms in agreement with previous {\it ab initio} and mean-field calculations, and in agreement with Lieb's theorem for a Hubbard model on a bipartite lattice. Adding a single electron leads to the complete spin depolarization for N_{edge}\leq 9. For larger structures, the spin depolarization is shown to occur at different filling factors. Away from half-fillings excess electrons(holes) are shown to form Wigner-like spin polarized triangular molecules corresponding to large gaps in the excitation spectrum. The validity of conclusions is assessed by a comparison of results obtained from different levels of approximations. While for the charge neutral system all methods give qualitatively similar results, away from the charge neutrality an inclusion of all Coulomb scattering terms is necessary to produce results presented here.

We consider a collection of fermions in a strong magnetic field coupled by a purely three body repulsive interaction, and predict the formation of composite fermions, leading to a remarkably rich phase diagram containing a host of fractional quantum Hall states, a composite fermion Fermi sea, and a pairing transition. The correlations that give rise to incompressible quantum liquid (IQL) states in fractional quantum Hall systems are determined by the pseudopotential $V(\mathcal R)$ describing the interaction of a pair of Fermions in a degenerate Landau level (LL) as a function of relative pair angular momentum $\mathcal R$. $V(\mathcal R)$ is known for a number of different Fermion systems, e.g. electrons in the lowest Landau level (LL0) or the first excited Landau level (LL1), and for quasiparticles of Laughlin-Jain IQL states. Laughlin correlations, the avoidance of pair states with the smallest values of $\mathcal R$, occur only when $V(\mathcal R)$ satisfies certain conditions. We show that Jain's composite Fermion (CF) picture is valid only if the conditions necessary for Laughlin correlations are satisfied, and we present a rigorous justification of the CF picture without the need of introducing an "irrelevant" mean field energy scale. Electrons in LL1 and quasielectrons in IQL states (e.g. QEs in CF LL1) do not necessarily support Laughlin correlations. Numerical diagonalization studies for small systems of Fermions (electrons in LL0 or in LL1, and QEs in CF LL1), with the use appropriate pseudopotentials $V(\mathcal R)$, show clear evidence for different types of correlations. The relation between LL degeneracy $g=2\ell+1$ and number of Fermions $N$ at which IQL states are found is known for a limited range of $N$ values. However, no simple intuitive models that we have tried satisfactorily describe all of the systems we have studied. Successes and shortcomings of some simple models are discussed, and suggestions for further investigation are made.

However, the excitation spectra are different. At filling factor 2, we find spin domains at half-polarization (P=1/2), while antiferromagnetic order seems most favorable in the CF systems. The transition between P=0 and 1, as seen when e.g. the magnetic field is tilted, is also studied by exact diagonalization in toroidal and spherical geometries. The essential role of an effective CF-CF interaction is discussed, and the experimentally observed incompresible half-polarized state is found in some models.

Density of states (DOS) and absorption spectrum of weakly doped, narrow quantum wells in high magnetic fields are calculated by realistic exact diagonalization. The systems containing an electron--hole pair with and without an additional, second electron are compared. In DOS, the exciton--electron interaction is shown to fill the gaps between Landau levels and to yield additional discrete peaks corresponding to bound trion states. In absorption, interaction with the additional free electron causes no shift or renormalization of main, excitonic peaks. However, it results in additional, weaker peaks associated with bound trions in the lowest or higher Landau levels. The calculation is supplemented with experimental photoluminescence and photoluminescence-excitation studies of two-dimensional holes and electrons in high magnetic fields.

Binding energies of negative and positive trions in doped GaAs quantum wells in high magnetic fields are studied by exact numerical diagonalization in spherical geometry. Compared to earlier calculations, finite width of the quantum well and its asymmetry caused by one-sided do** are both fully taken into account by using self-consistent subband wave functions in the integration of Coulomb matrix elements, and by inclusion of higher subbands along with several Landau levels in the Hilbert space. Detailed analysis of the accuracy and convergence of the exact diagonalization scheme is presented, including dependence on Landau level and subband mixing, sensitivity to the (not well known) single-particle spectrum in the valence band, and the estimate of finite-size errors. The main results are the exciton dispersion and trion binding energy spectrum calculated as a function of the magnetic field, quantum well width, electron concentration, and the presence of an ionized impurity. As a complementary approach, a combination of the exact diagonalization in the quantum well plane and the variational calculation in the normal direction is used as well.

Abstract:
Two- and three-body correlations of incompressible quantum liquids are studied numerically. Pairing of composite fermions (CFs) in the 1/3-filled second CF Landau level is found at nu_e=4/11. It is explained by reduced short-range repulsion due to ring-like single-particle charge distribution. Although Moore-Read state of CFs is unstable in the 1/2-filled second CF level, condensation of its quasiholes is a possible origin of incompressibility at nu_e=4/11. Electron pairing occurs at nu_e=7/3 and 13/3, but with different pair-pair correlations. Signatures of triplets are found at higher fillings.

The dependence of the activated gap on magnetic field is studied for the fractional filling factor~1/3. By comparing the experimental results with results from exact diagonalization calculations we are able to identify the excitation of a small antiskyrmion in the low-field regime and a cross-over to spinless excitations at higher magnetic fields. The effect of sample quality is studied. On the side of the theory, comparison between different geometries (torus and sphere) and different sizes is carried out. Under inclusion of Landau level mixing and finite thickness, we obtain a good agreement between calculated energies and experimental results.

Photoluminescence (PL) has been used to study two-dimensional incompressible electron liquids in high magnetic fields for nearly two decades. However, some of the observed anomalies coincident with the fractional quantum Hall effect are still unexplained. We show that emission in these systems occurs from fractionally charged "quasiexciton" states formed from trions correlated with the surrounding electrons. Their binding and recombination depend on the state of both the electron liquid and the involved trion, predicting discontinuities in PL and sensitivity to sample parameters.

Interaction between spin waves (or excitons) moving in the lowest Landau level is studied using numerical diagonalization. Becuse of complicated statistics obeyed by these composite particles, their effective interaction is completely different from the dipole-dipole interaction predicted in the model of independent (bosonic) waves. In particular, spin waves moving in the same direction attract one another which leads to their dynamical binding. The interaction pseudopotentials V_[up,up](k) and V_[up,down](k) for two spin waves with equal wavevectors k and moving in the same or opposite directions have been calculated and shown to obey power laws V(k) ~ k^alpha at small k. A high value of alpha_[up,up]~4 explains the occurrence of linear bands in the spin excitation spectra of quantum Hall droplets.
