In recent years, the confidentiality of smart contracts has become a fundamental requirement for practical applications. While many efforts have been made to develop architectural capabilities for enforcing confidential smart contracts, a few works arise to extend confidential smart contracts to Multi-Party Computation (MPC), i.e., multiple parties jointly evaluate a transaction off-chain and commit the outputs on-chain without revealing their secret inputs/outputs to each other. However, existing solutions lack public verifiability and require O(n) transactions to enable negotiation or resist adversaries, thus suffering from inefficiency and compromised security. In this paper, we propose Cloak, a framework for enabling Multi-Party Transaction (MPT) on existing blockchains. An MPT refers to transitioning blockchain states by an publicly verifiable off-chain MPC. We identify and handle the challenges of securing MPT by harmonizing TEE and blockchain. Consequently, Cloak secures the off-chain nondeterministic negotiation process (a party joins an MPT without knowing identities or the total number of parties until the MPT proposal settles), achieves public verifiability (the public can validate that the MPT correctly handles the secret inputs/outputs from multiple parties and reads/writes states on-chain), and resists Byzantine adversaries. According to our proof, Cloak achieves better security with only 2 transactions, superior to previous works that achieve compromised security at O(n) transactions cost. By evaluating examples and real-world MPTs, the gas cost of Cloak reduces by 32.4% on average.

Hybrid energy storage systems (HESS) have carved a niche in the industry. HESS improve the system efficiency, reduce the overall cost and increase the lifespan of the system. The proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell is hybridized with Li-ion batteries (LIB) for vehicular applications, robotic applications etc. In applications which have geometrical space constraints, the temperature of the energy storage elements is influenced by convective heat transfer. In this paper the thermal analysis of the geometry of PEM-LIB hybrid system is carried out using COMSOL Multiphysics Software package for different discharge rates (C rates) of the LIB and different voltages of the PEM cell. The additional rise in temperature of the LIB pack when placed in close proximity with PEM cell was in the range of 0.03-0.6$^0$C at 4C. The cell temperature of the LIB pack increased with increase in C rate and decrease in PEM cell voltage.

Are there parallels between the furthest reaches of our universe, and the foundations of thought, awareness, perception, and emotion? What are the connections between the webs and structures that define both? What are the differences? "As Above As Below" was an exhibition that examined these questions. It consisted of six artworks, each of them the product of a collaboration that included at least one artist, astrophysicist, and neuroscientist. The installations explored new parallels between intergalactic and neuronal networks through media such as digital projection, virtual reality, and interactive multimedia, and served to illustrate diverse collaboration practices and ways to communicate across very different fields.

Intertemporal Price Discrimination with Time-Varying Valuations

A firm that sells a non perishable product considers intertemporal price discrimination in the objective of maximizing its long-run average revenue. We consider a general model of patient customers with changing valuations. Arriving customers wait for a random but bounded length of time and purchase the product when its price falls below their valuation, which varies following a stochastic process. We show the optimality of a class of cyclic strategies and obtain an algorithm that yields them. When the pace of intertemporal pricing is constrained to be comparable to the upper bound on customers patience levels, we have a good control on the cycle length and on the structure of the optimizing cyclic policies. The results also hold for forward looking strategic customers as well as under an alternative objective of maximizing infinite horizon discounted revenue.
We cast our results in a general framework of optimizing the long-run average revenue for a class of revenue functions that we denote {\it weakly coupled}, in which the revenue per period depends on a finite number of neighboring prices. We analyze in detail the case of Markovian valuations where we can obtain closed form formulations of the revenue function and some refinements of our main results. We also extend our results to the case of patience levels that are bounded only in expectation.

The C-V characteristics of the film in MFS structure exhibit hysteretic behavior consistent with the polarization charge switching direction, with the memory window decreasing with increase in temperature. The density of interface states decreases with the increase in the annealing temperature. Map** of the silicon energy band gap with the interface states has been carried out. The leakage current measured in the accumulation region, is lower in well-crystallized thin films and obeys a space- charge limited conduction mechanism.
