In this paper, we give a criterion for Gorensteinness of the associated graded ring of $\mathcal{F}$ in terms of the Hilbert coefficients of $\mathcal{F}$ in some cases. As a consequence we recover and extend a result proved by Okuma, Watanabe and Yoshida. Further, we present ring-theoretic properties of the normal tangent cone of the maximal ideal of $A=S/(f)$ where $S=K[\![x_0,x_1,\ldots, x_m]\!]$ is a formal power series ring over an algebraically closed field $K$, and $f=x_0^a-g(x_1,\ldots,x_m)$, where $g$ is a polynomial with $g \in (x_1,\ldots,x_m)^b \setminus (x_1,\ldots,x_m)^{b+1}$, and $a, \, b, \, m$ are integers. We show that the normal tangent cone $\overline{G}(\mathfrak{m})$ is Cohen-Macaulay if $A$ is normal and $a \le b$. Moreover, we give a criterion of the Gorensteinness of $\overline{G}(\mathfrak{m})$.

This article investigates the computational aspects of the $\varepsilon$-multiplicity. Primarily, we show that the $\varepsilon$-multiplicity of a homogeneous ideal $I$ in a two-dimensional standard graded domain of finite type over an algebraically closed field of arbitrary characteristic, is always a rational number. In this situation, we produce a formula for the $\varepsilon$-multiplicity of $I$ in terms of certain mixed multiplicities associated to $I$. In any dimension, under the assumptions that the saturated Rees algebra of $I$ is finitely generated, we give a different expression of the $\varepsilon$-multiplicity in terms of mixed multiplicities by using the Veronese degree. This enabled us to make various explicit computations of $\varepsilon$-multiplicities. We further write a Macaulay2 algorithm to compute $\varepsilon$-multiplicity (under the Noetherian hypotheses) even when the base ring is not necessarily standard graded.

Weighted Outlier Detection is a method for identifying unusual or anomalous data points in a dataset, which can be caused by various factors like human error, fraud, or equipment malfunctions. Detecting outliers can reveal vital information about system faults, fraudulent activities, and patterns in the data, assisting experts in addressing the root causes of these anomalies. However, creating a model of normal data patterns to identify outliers can be challenging due to the nature of input data, labeled data availability, and specific requirements of the problem. This article proposed the WePaMaDM-Outlier Detection with distinct mass data mining domain, demonstrating that such techniques are domain-dependent and usually developed for specific problem formulations. Nevertheless, similar domains can adapt solutions with modifications. This work also investigates the significance of data modeling in outlier detection techniques in surveillance, fault detection, and trend analysis, also referred to as novelty detection, a semisupervised task where the algorithm learns to recognize abnormality while being taught the normal class.

We prove that if $R$ is an excellent Buchsbaum local domain then $G^*(I)$ is a Buchsbaum module over the Rees ring $\mathcal R^*(I)=\oplus_{n\in \mathbb{N}}(I^n)^*.$ We provide quick proofs of well-known results of I. Aberbach, Huneke-Itoh and Huneke-Hochster about the filtration $\{(I^n)^*: n\in \mathbb{N}\}$ in excellent local domains. An important tool used in the proofs is a deep result due to M. Hochster and C. Huneke which states that the absolute integral closure of an excellent local domain is a big Cohen-Macaulay algebra. We compute the tight closure of $I^n$ where $I$ is generated by homogeneous system of parameters having the same degree $e$ in the hypersurface ring $R=\mathbb{F}_p[X_0,\ldots ,X_d]/(X_0^r+\cdots+X_d^r).$ In such cases we prove that $G^*(I)$ is Cohen-Macaulay. We provide conditions on $r, d, e$ for the Rees algebra $\mathcal R^*(I)$ to be Cohen-Macaulay.

We provide suitable conditions under which the asymptotic limit of the Hilbert-Samuel coefficients of the Frobenius powers of an $\mathfrak{m}$-primary ideal exists in a Noetherian local ring $(R,\mathfrak{m})$ with prime characteristic $p>0.$ This, in turn, gives an expression of the Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity of powers of the ideal. We also prove that for a face ring $R$ of a simplicial complex and an ideal $J$ generated by pure powers of the variables, the generalized Hilbert-Kunz function $\ell(R/(J^{[q]})^k)$ is a polynomial for all $q,k$ and also give an expression of the generalized Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity of powers of $J$ in terms of Hilbert-Samuel multiplicity of $J.$ We conclude by giving a counter-example to a conjecture proposed by I. We show that if $\dim R=2 $, the Hochster-Huneke graph of $R$ is connected and this lower bound is achieved then $R$ is F-rational. Craig Huneke asked if the $F$-rationality of unmixed local rings may be characterized by the vanishing of $e_1^*(Q).$ We construct examples to show that without additional conditions, this is not possible. Let $R$ be an excellent, reduced, equidimensional Noetherian local ring and $Q$ be generated by parameter test elements.
We find formulas for $e_1^*(Q), e_2^*(Q), \ldots, e_d^*(Q)$ in terms of Hilbert coefficients of $Q$, lengths of local cohomology modules of $R,$ and the length of the tight closure of the zero submodule of $H^d_{\mathfrak{m}}(R).$ Using these we prove: $R$ is F-rational $\Leftrightarrow e_1^*(Q)=e_1(Q) \Leftrightarrow$ depth $R\geq 2$ and $e_1^*(Q)=0.$

Many applications in quantum communication, sensing and computation need provably quantum non-Gaussian light. Recently such light, witnessed by a negative Wigner function, has been estimated using homodyne tomography from a single atom dispersively coupled to a high-finesse cavity. This opens an investigation of quantum non-Gaussian light for many experiments with atoms and solid-state emitters. However, at their early stage, an atom or emitter in a cavity system with different channels to the environment and additional noise are insufficient to produce negative Wigner functions. Moreover, homodyne detection is frequently challenging for such experiments. We analyse these issues and prove that such cavities can be used to emit quantum non-Gaussian light employing single-photon detection in the Hanbury Brown and Twiss configuration and quantum non-Gaussianity criteria suitable for this measurement. We investigate in detail cases of considerable cavity leakage when the negativity of the Wigner function disappears completely. Advantageously, quantum non-Gaussian light can be still conclusively proven for a large set of the cavity parameters at the cost of overall measurement time, even if noise is present.

In order to train robust deep learning models, large amounts of labelled data is required. However, in the absence of such large repositories of labelled data, unlabeled data can be exploited for the same. Semi-Supervised learning aims to utilize such unlabeled data for training classification models. Recent progress of self-training based approaches have shown promise in this area, which leads to this study where we utilize an ensemble approach for the same. A by-product of any semi-supervised approach may be loss of calibration of the trained model especially in scenarios where unlabeled data may contain out-of-distribution samples, which leads to this investigation on how to adapt to such effects. Our proposed algorithm carefully avoids common pitfalls in utilizing unlabeled data and leads to a more accurate and calibrated supervised model compared to vanilla self-training based student-teacher algorithms. We perform several experiments on the popular STL-10 database followed by an extensive analysis of our approach and study its effects on model accuracy and calibration.

The theory of mixed multiplicities of filtrations by $m$-primary ideals in a ring is introduced in a recent paper by Cutkosky, Sarkar and Srinivasan. In this paper, we consider the positivity of mixed multiplicities of filtrations. We show that the mixed multiplicities of filtrations must be nonnegative real numbers and give examples to show that they could be zero or even irrational. When $R$ is analytically irreducible, and $\mathcal I(1),\ldots,\mathcal I(r)$ are filtrations of $R$ by $m_R$-primary ideals, we show that all of the mixed multiplicities $e_R(\mathcal I(1)^{[d_1]},\ldots,\mathcal I(r)^{[d_r]};R)$ are positive if and only if the ordinary multiplicities $e_R(\mathcal I(i);R)$ for $1\le i\le r$ are positive. We extend this to modules and prove a simple characterization of when the mixed multiplicities are positive or zero on a finitely generated module.

Several applications are also presented such as a classical theorem of Stickelberger for solutions of polynomial equations in terms of eigenvalues of commuting operators, construction of a principal ideal domain which is not Euclidean, Hilbert's $17^{th}$ problem, the Borsuk-Ulam theorem in topology and solutions of the conjectures of Dyson, Erdös and Heilbronn.

We consider a single quantum dot coupled with a bimodal cavity in strong coupling regime. We analyze the effect of exciton-phonon coupling on the concurrence of the generated entangled states. We find that for both states concurrence is maximum in the absence of the anisotropic energy gap between exciton states and remains unchanged in the presence of exciton-phonon coupling. However, for finite anisotropic energy gap concurrence decreases on the increasing temperature of phonon bath.

The quantum confinement energy in these heterostructures is larger than the bandgaps of traditional semiconductors, made possible by the large band offsets. These MBE-grown extreme quantum-confinement GaN/AlN heterostructures exhibit internal quantum efficiency as high as 40% at wavelengths as short as 219 nm. These observations, together with the ability to engineer the interband optical matrix elements to control the direction of photon emission in such new binary quantum disk active regions offers unique advantages over alloy AlGaN quantum well counterparts for the realization of deep-UV light-emitting diodes and lasers.

Raman spectroscopy using the quantum well as an optical marker reveals the strain in the quantum well, and strain relaxation in the regrown GaN contacts. A 65-nm-long rectangular-gate device showed a record high DC drain current drive of 2.0 A/mm and peak extrinsic transconductance of 250 mS/mm. Small-signal RF performance of the device achieved current gain cutoff frequency fT~120 GHz. We propose a scheme to realize a highly efficient solid state source of photon pairs using cavity-assisted stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) in a single quantum dot, where a single photon from pump pulse and two stokes photons from cavity mode drives the Raman transition. The Autler-Townes doublet, generated by using a resonant continuous wave laser between biexciton and exciton states, and two-photon-resonant transition through strongly coupled cavity mode are utilized to facilitate (1+2)type Raman transition in the quantum dot. We show in the case of weak pump although the probability of generating two photons in cavity mode is small without cavity dam** but two-photon-resonant emission is enhanced by cavity dam** within strong coupling regime. We also discuss spectrum of the generated photon pair and photon-photon correlations in the generated photon pair. The efficiency of two photon source could be more than 80\% in current experimental conditions.

In this article, we argue that models based on machine learning (ML) can be very effective in estimating the non-linear matter power spectrum ($P(k)$). We employ the prediction ability of the supervised ML algorithms to build an estimator for the $P(k)$. The estimator is trained on a set of cosmological models, and redshifts for which the $P(k)$ is known, and it learns to predict $P(k)$ for any other set. We review three ML algorithms -- Random Forest, Gradient Boosting Machines, and K-Nearest Neighbours -- and investigate their prime parameters to optimize the prediction accuracy of the estimator. We also compute an optimal size of the training set, which is realistic enough, and still yields high accuracy. We find that, employing the optimal values of the internal parameters, a set of $50-100$ cosmological models is enough to train the estimator that can predict the $P(k)$ for a wide range of cosmological models, and redshifts. Using this configuration, we build a blackbox -- Supervised Estimator for Matter Power Spectrum (SEMPS) -- that computes the $P(k)$ to 5-10$\%$ accuracy up to $k\sim 10 h^{-1}{\rm Mpc}$ with respect to the reference model (cosmic emulator). We also compare the estimations of SEMPS to that of the Halofit, and find that for the $k$-range where the cosmic variance is low, SEMPS estimates are better than that of the Halofit. The predictions of the SEMPS are instantaneous in the sense that it can evaluate up to 500 $P(k)$ in less than one second, which makes it ideal for many applications like visualisations, weak lensing, emulations, likelihood analysis etc.. As a supplement to this article, we provide a publicly available software package.

Several results in this area follow from two theorems of S. Huckaba and T. Marley. These were proved using homological techniques. We provide simple proofs using superficial sequences.

Abstract:
The growth of Hilbert coefficients for powers of ideals are studied. For a graded ideal $I$ in the polynomial ring $S=K[x_1,...,x_n]$ and a finitely generated graded $S$-module, the Hilbert coefficients $e_i(M/I^kM)$ are polynomial functions. Given two families of graded ideals $(I_k)_{k\geq 0}$ and $(J_k)_{k\geq 0}$ with $J_k\subset I_k$ for all $k$ with the property that…

Given two families of graded ideals $(I_k)_{k\geq 0}$ and $(J_k)_{k\geq 0}$ with $J_k\subset I_k$ for all $k$ with the property that $J_kJ_\ell\subset J_{k+\ell}$ and $I_kI_\ell\subset I_{k+\ell}$ for all $k$ and $\ell$, and such that the algebras $A=\Dirsum_{k\geq 0}J_k$ and $B=\Dirsum_{k\geq 0}I_k$ are finitely generated, we show the function $k \mapsto_0(I_k/J_k)$ is of quasi-polynomial type, say given by the polynomials $P_0,..., P_{g-1}$. If $J_k = J^k$ for all $k$ then we show that all the $P_i$ have the same degree and the same leading coefficient. As one of the applications it is shown that $\lim_{k\to \infty}\length(Γ_\mm(S/I^k))/k^n \in \mathbb{Q}.$ We also study analogous statements in the local case.
