Three-particle complexes consisting of two holes in the completely filled zero electron Landau level and an excited electron in the unoccupied first Landau level are investigated in a quantum Hall insulator. The distinctive features of these three-particle complexes are an electron-hole mass symmetry and the small energy gap of the quantum Hall insulator itself. Theoretical calculations of the trion energy spectrum in a quantizing magnetic field predict that, besides the ground state, trions feature a hierarchy of excited bound states. In agreement with the theoretical simulations, we observe new photoluminescence lines related to the excited trion states. A relatively small energy gap allows the binding of three-particle complexes with magnetoplasma oscillations and formation of plasmarons. The plasmaron properties are investigated experimentally.

Abstract:
Single crystalline Mn2-xFexBO4 with x = 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 grown by the flux method have been studied by means of X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopy at both Mn and Fe K edges. The compounds were found to crystallize in an orthorhombic warwickite structure (sp. gr. Pnam). The magnetization data have revealed a spin-glass transition at TSG= 11, 14 and 18 K for x= 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7, respec…

Abstract:

By means of magnetic susceptibility and specific heat measurements, x-ray and unpolarised neutron diffraction investigations on powder and single-crystal samples, simultaneous long-range antiferromagnetic Fe and Nd ordering in NdFe3(11BO3)4 with R 3 2 chemical structure has been found at temperatures below TN = 30.5(5) K down to 1.6 K. At temperatures down to 20 K to the propagation vector is khex = [0,0,3/2] and becomes slightly incommensurate at lower temperatures. Symmetry analysis yields magnetic spiral configurations with the magnetic moments oriented parallel to hexagonal basal plane according to the irreducible representations tau_3 in the commensurate case. This is in agreement with the easy directions of magnetisation perpendicular to the c-axis as determined by magnetic susceptibility measurements. At 1.6 K the magnetic Fe moment amounts to 4.9 muB close to the free ion moment of Fe3+. The magnetic Nd3+ moment saturates presumably due to crystal-field effects at 2.7 muB.

Abstract:
The temperature dependence of resistivity, magnetization and electron-spin resonance of the $α- MnS $ single crystal were measured in temperature range of $5 K < T < 550 K$. Magnetization hysteresis in applied magnetic field up to 0.7 T at $T=5 K, 77 K, 300 K$, irreversible temperature behavior of magnetization and resistivity were found . The obtained data were explained in terms of degenerate tight binding model using random phase approximation. The contribution of holes in $t_{2g}$ and $e_g$ bands of manganese ions to the conductivity, optical absorbtion spectra and charge instability in $α-MnS $ were studied. Charge susceptibility maxima resulted from the competition of the on-site Coulomb interaction between the holes in different orbitals and small hybridization of sub-bands were calculated at $T=160 K, 250 K, 475 K$.
