A new version of quantum hashing technique is developed wherein a quantum hash is constructed as a sequence of single-photon high-dimensional states (qudits). A proof-of-principle implementation of the high-dimensional quantum hashing protocol using orbital-angular momentum encoding of single photons is implemented. It is shown that the number of qudits decreases with increase of their dimension for an optimal ratio between collision probability and decoding probability of the hash. Thus, increasing dimension of information carriers makes quantum hashing with single photons more efficient.

Quantum hashing is a promising generalization of the cryptographic hashing concept on the quantum domain. In this paper, we construct a quantum hash via a sequence of single-photon states and perform a proof-of-principle experiment using orbital angular momentum (OAM) encoding. We experimentally verify the collision resistance of the quantum hash function depending on the number of qubits in use. Based on these results, we conclude that theoretical estimates are confirmed for different bases of OAM states and the proposed technique can be useful in computational and cryptographic scenarios. The possibility of multiplexing different OAM bases can make this approach even more efficient.

Abstract:
Single-domain particles of SrFe8Al4O19 were prepared by thermal treatment at 1473 K of porous products of citrate-nitrate auto-combustion, and the influence of synthesis time on the particle morphology and magnetic properties was studied. The procedure allows to obtain SrFe8Al4O19 particles with mean diameters 100 - 460 nm, and their coercivity ranges from 14.5 to 18.4 kOe, while ferromagnetic res…

Abstract:
The article presents results on neutron electric dipole moment measurements (EDM), made by ILL reactor using PNPI experimental installation. Double chamber magnetic resonance spectrometer with prolonged holding of ultra cold neutrons has been employed. The obtained results at 90% confidence level determine the upper limit for EDM neutron quantity equal to $|d_n| < 5.5 \cdot 10^{-26}$ e$ \cdot$cm.

Abstract:
We report a new measurement of the neutron electric dipole moment with the PNPI EDM spectrometer using the ultracold neutron source PF2 at the research reactor of the ILL. Its first results can be interpreted as a limit on the neutron EDM of $|d_{\rm n}| < 5.5 \times 10^{-26} \rm{e} \cdot \rm{cm}$ (90% confidence level).

We propose an effective realization of the universal set of elementary quantum gates in solid state quantum computer based on macroscopic (or mesoscopic) resonance systems - multi-atomic coherent ensembles, squids or quantum dots in quantum electrodynamic cavity. We exploit an encoding of logical qubits by the pairs of the macroscopic two- or three-level atoms that is working in a Hilbert subspace of all states inherent to these atomic systems. In this subspace, logical single qubit gates are realized by the controlled reversible transfer of single atomic excitation in the pair via the exchange of virtual photons and by the frequency shift of one of the atomic ensembles in a pair. In the case of two-level systems, the logical two - qubit gates are performed by the controlling of Lamb shift magnitude in one atomic ensemble, allowing/blocking the excitation transfer in a pair, respectively, that is controlled by the third atomic system of another pair. When using three-level systems, we describe the NOT-gate in the atomic pair controlled by the transfer of working atomic excitation to the additional third level caused by direct impact of the control pair excitation. Finally, we discuss advantages of the proposed physical system for accelerated computation of some useful quantum gates.

The search for CP violating forces between nucleons in the so-called axion window of force ranges lam between 2x10^-5 m and 0.02 m is interesting because only little experimental information is available there. Axion-like particles would induce a pseudo-magnetic field for neutrons close to bulk matter. A laboratory search investigates neutron spin precession close to a heavy mirror using ultracold neutrons in a magnetic resonance spectrometer. From the absence of a shift of the magnetic resonance we established new constraints on the coupling strength of axion-like particles in terms of the product gs x gp of scalar and pseudo-scalar dimensionless constants, as a function of the force range lam, gs x gp x lam^2 <= 2x10-21 [cm^2] (C.L.95%) for 10^-4 cm < lam < 1 cm. For 0.1 cm < lam < 1 cm previous limits are improved by 4 to 5 orders of magnitude.

Abstract:
We present a measurement of the $e^+e^-\to K_SK_L$ cross section in the energy range $\sqrt{s}=1.04 ÷1.38$ GeV. For the energy $\sqrt{s}\geq 1.2$ GeV the cross section exceeds vector meson dominance model predictions with only $ρ(770)$, $ω(783)$, and $φ(1020)$ mesons taken into account. Measured cross section agrees well with previous measurements.
