Using the data sample of 980 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we present the results of an investigation of the $Λπ^+$ and $Λπ^-$ invariant mass distributions looking for substructure in the decay $Λ_c^+\rightarrowΛπ^+π^+π^-$. We find a significant signal in each mass dis\ tribution. When interpreted as resonances, we find for the $Λπ^+$ ($Λπ^-$) combination a mass of $1434.3 \pm 0.6 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.9(\mathrm{syst})$ MeV/$c^2$ [$1438.5 \pm 0.9 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 2.5(\mathrm{syst})$ MeV/$c^2$], an intrinsic width of $11.5 \pm 2.8 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 5.3(\mathrm{syst})$ MeV/$c^2$ [$33.0 \pm 7.5 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 23.6(\mathrm{syst})$ MeV/$c^2$] with a significance of 7.5$σ$ (6.2$σ$). As these two signals are very close to the $\bar{K}N$ threshold, we also investigate the possibility of a $\bar{K}N$ cusp, and find that \ we cannot discriminate between these two interpretations due to the limited size of the data sample.

We report measurements of the ratios of branching fractions for $B \to \bar{D}^{(*)}π\ell^+ν_\ell$ and $B \to \bar{D}^{(*)}π^+π^-\ell^+ν_\ell$ relative to $B \to \bar{D}^*\ell^+ν_\ell$ decays with $\ell = e, μ$. These results are obtained from a data sample that contains $772 \times 10^6 B\bar{B}$ pairs collected near the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy $e^+e^-$ collider. Fully reconstructing both $B$ mesons in the event, we obtain \begin{align*} \frac{B(B^0 \to \bar{D}^0π^-\ell^+ν_\ell)}{B(B^0 \to D^{*-}\ell^+ν_\ell)} &= (7.24\pm0.36\pm0.12)\%\ ,\\ \frac{B(B^+ \to D^-π^+\ell^+ν_\ell)}{B(B^+ \to \bar{D}^{*0}\ell^+ν_\ell)} &= (6.78\pm0.24\pm0.15)\%\ ,\\ \frac{B(B^0 \to \bar{D}^{*0}π^-\ell^+ν_\ell)}{B(B^0 \to D^{*-}\ell^+ν_\ell)} &= (11.10\pm0.48\pm0.20)\%\ ,\\ \frac{B(B^+ \to D^{*-}π^+\ell^+ν_\ell)}{B(B^+ \to \bar{D}^{*0}\ell^+ν_\ell)} &= (9.50\pm0.33\pm0.27)\%\ ,\\ \frac{B(B^0 \to D^-π^+π^-\ell^+ν_\ell)}{B(B^0 \to D^{*-}\ell^+ν_\ell)} &= (2.91\pm0.37\pm0.25)\%\ ,\\ \frac{B(B^+ \to \bar{D}^0π^+π^-\ell^+ν_\ell)}{B(B^+ \to \bar{D}^{*0}\ell^+ν_\ell)} &= (3.10\pm0.26\pm0.21)\%\ ,\\ \frac{B(B^0 \to D^{*-}π^+π^-\ell^+ν_\ell)}{B(B^0 \to D^{*-}\ell^+ν_\ell)} &= (1.03\pm0.43\pm0.18)\%\ ,\\ \frac{B(B^+ \to \bar{D}^{*0}π^+π^-\ell^+ν_\ell)}{B(B^+ \to \bar{D}^{*0}\ell^+ν_\ell)} &= (1.25\pm0.27\pm0.15)\%\ , \end{align*} where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The invariant mass spectra of the $Dπ$, $D^*π$, and $Dππ$ systems are studied. Branching fraction products are extracted, among them the first observations of $B(B^0 \to D_1^-\ell^+ν_\ell) \times B(D_1^- \to D^-π^+π^-) = (0.102\pm0.013\pm0.009)\%$ and $B(B^+ \to \bar{D}_1^0\ell^+ν_\ell) \times B(\bar{D}_1^0 \to \bar{D}^0π^+π^-) = (0.105\pm0.011\pm0.008)\%$.

Measurements of electrons from $ν_e$ interactions are crucial for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) neutrino oscillation program, as well as searches for physics beyond the standard model, supernova neutrino detection, and solar neutrino measurements. This article describes the selection and reconstruction of low-energy (Michel) electrons in the ProtoDUNE-SP detector. ProtoDUNE-SP is one of the prototypes for the DUNE far detector, built and operated at CERN as a charged particle test beam experiment. A sample of low-energy electrons produced by the decay of cosmic muons is selected with a purity of 95%. This sample is used to calibrate the low-energy electron energy scale with two techniques. An electron energy calibration based on a cosmic ray muon sample uses calibration constants derived from measured and simulated cosmic ray muon events. Another calibration technique makes use of the theoretically well-understood Michel electron energy spectrum to convert reconstructed charge to electron energy. In addition, the effects of detector response to low-energy electron energy scale and its resolution including readout electronics threshold effects are quantified. Finally, the relation between the theoretical and reconstructed low-energy electron energy spectrum is derived and the energy resolution is characterized. The low-energy electron selection presented here accounts for about 75% of the total electron deposited energy. After the addition of lost energy using a Monte Carlo simulation, the energy resolution improves from about 40% to 25% at 50~MeV. These results are used to validate the expected capabilities of the DUNE far detector to reconstruct low-energy electrons.

The semileptonic decays $B^0\to D^-(\to K^+π^-π^-)\ell^+ν_\ell$ and $B^+\to\bar D^0(\to K^+π^-)\ell^+ν_\ell$ are reconstructed, where $\ell$ is either electron or a muon. The second $B$ meson in the $Υ(4S)$ event is not explicitly reconstructed. Using the diamond-frame method, we determine the $B$ meson four-momentum and thus the hadronic recoil. We extract the partial decay rates as functions of $w$ and perform a fit to the decay form-factor and the CKM parameter $|V_{cb}|$ using the BGL parameterization of the form factor and lattice QCD input from the FNAL/MILC and HPQCD collaborations. We obtain $η_{EW}|V_{cb}|=(38.53\pm 1.15)\times 10^{-3}$, where $η_{EW}$ is an electroweak correction, and the error accounts for theoretical and experimental sources of uncertainty.

We measure the photon-energy spectrum in radiative bottom-meson ($B$) decays into inclusive final states involving a strange hadron and a photon. We use SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions corresponding to $189~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance by the Belle II experiment. The partner $B$ candidates are fully reconstructed using a large number of hadronic channels. The $B \rightarrow X_s γ$ partial branching fractions are measured as a function of photon energy in the signal $B$ meson rest frame in eight bins above $1.8~\mathrm{GeV}$. The background-subtracted signal yield for this photon energy region is $343 \pm 122$ events. Integrated branching fractions for three photon energy thresholds of $1.8~\mathrm{GeV}$, $2.0~\mathrm{GeV}$, and $2.1~\mathrm{GeV}$ are also reported, and found to be in agreement with world averages.

We present an analysis of the charmless semileptonic decay $B^0\toπ^- \ell^+ ν_{\ell}$, where $\ell = e, μ$, from 198.0 million pairs of $B\bar{B}$ mesons recorded by the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider. The decay is reconstructed without identifying the partner $B$ meson. The partial branching fractions are measured independently for $B^0\toπ^- e^+ ν_{e}$ and $B^0\toπ^- μ^+ ν_μ$ as functions of $q^{2}$ (momentum transfer squared), using 3896 $B^0\toπ^- e^+ ν_{e}$ and 5466 $B^0\toπ^- μ^+ ν_μ$ decays. The total branching fraction is found to be $(1.426 \pm 0.056 \pm 0.125) \times 10^{-4}$ for $B^0\toπ^- \ell^+ ν_{\ell}$ decays, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. By fitting the measured partial branching fractions as functions of $q^{2}$, together with constraints on the nonperturbative hadronic contribution from lattice QCD calculations, the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $V_{ub}$, $(3.55 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.17) \times 10^{-3}$, is extracted. Here, the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is theoretical.

We present a study of a singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0K_S^0$ and a Cabibbo-favored decay $Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0η$ based on 980 $\rm fb^{-1}$ of data collected by the Belle detector, operating at the KEKB energy-asymmetric $e^+e^-$ collider. We measure their branching fractions relative to $Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0$: $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0K_S^0)/\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0)={(1.48 \pm 0.08 \pm 0.04)\times 10^{-2}}$ and $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0η)/\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0)={(2.73\pm 0.06\pm 0.13)\times 10^{-1}}$. Combining with the world average $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0)$, we have the absolute branching fractions: $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0K_S^0) = {(2.35\pm 0.12\pm 0.07 \pm 0.12 )\times 10^{-4}}$ and $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0η) = {(4.35\pm 0.10\pm 0.20 \pm 0.22 )\times 10^{-3}}$. The first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise from the uncertainty on $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0)$. The mode $Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0K_S^0$ is observed for the first time and has a statistical significance of $>\!10σ$. The branching fraction of $Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0η$ has been measured with a threefold improvement in precision over previous results and is found to be consistent with the world average.

We determine the branching fractions ${\mathcal{B}}$ and $CP$ asymmetries ${\mathcal{A}_{\it CP}}$ of the decays $B^+ \rightarrow π^+ π^0$ and $B^+ \rightarrow K^+ π^0$. The results are based on a data set containing 198 million bottom-antibottom meson pairs corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $190\;\text{fb}^{-1}$ recorded by the Belle II detector in energy-asymmetric electron-positron collisions at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. We measure ${\mathcal{B}(B^+ \rightarrow π^+ π^0) = (6.12 \pm 0.53 \pm 0.53)\times 10^{-6}}$, ${\mathcal{B}(B^+ \rightarrow K^+ π^0) = (14.30 \pm 0.69 \pm 0.79)\times 10^{-6}}$, ${\mathcal{A}_{\it CP}(B^+ \rightarrow π^+ π^0) = -0.085 \pm 0.085 \pm 0.019}$, and ${\mathcal{A}_{\it CP}(B^+ \rightarrow K^+ π^0) = 0.014 \pm 0.047 \pm 0.010}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results improve a previous Belle II measurement and agree with the world averages.

We observe no evidence for these decays, so we provide upper limits at the 90$\%$ confidence level on the branching fractions of $B^{+} \to D_{s}^{+}h^{0}$, $D_{s}^{\ast+}h^{0}$, and $D^{+}h^{0}$ decay modes. Along with rare decay modes, we report improved measurements of the color-suppressed decay branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to D^{0}η)$ = (26.6 $\pm$ 1.2 $\pm$ 2.1) $\times$ $10^{-5}$ and $\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to D^{0}\bar{K}^{0})$ = (5.6 $\pm$ 0.5 $\pm$ 0.2) $\times$ $10^{-5}$. These data were collected with the Belle II detector during special operations of the SuperKEKB collider above the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. We report the first observation of $ωχ_{bJ}(1P)$ signals at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.745 GeV. By combining Belle II data with Belle results at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.867 GeV, we find energy dependencies of the Born cross sections for $e^+e^-\to ωχ_{b1,b2}(1P)$ to be consistent with the shape of the $Υ(10753)$ state. These data indicate that the internal structures of the $Υ(10753)$ and $Υ(10860)$ states may differ. Including data at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.653 GeV, we also search for the bottomonium equivalent of the $X(3872)$ state decaying into $ωΥ(1S)$. No significant signal is observed for masses between 10.45 and 10.65 GeV/$c^2$.

We report a study of $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0$, $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η$, and $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'$ using the data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The branching fractions relative to $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0$ are measured as: $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η}/\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0}=0.25 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.01$ and $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'}/\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0}=0.33 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.02$. Using $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0}=(1.25 \pm 0.10)\%$, we obtain $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η}=(3.14 \pm 0.35 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.25)\times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'}=(4.16 \pm 0.75 \pm 0.21 \pm 0.33)\times10^{-3}$. Here the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0}$, respectively. The ratio of the branching fraction of $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'$ with respect to that of $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'}/\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η}=1.34 \pm 0.28 \pm 0.06$. We update the asymmetry parameter of $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0$, $α_{Σ^+ π^0} = -0.48 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.02$, with a considerably improved precision. The asymmetry parameters of $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η$ and $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'$ are measured to be $α_{Σ^+ η} = -0.99 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.05$ and $α_{Σ^+ η'} = -0.46 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.03$ for the first time.

We report a study of $Λ_c^+\toΛh^+$ and $Λ_c^+\toΣ^{0} h^+$ ($h\!=\!K,\,π$) decays based on a data sample of 980~${\rm fb}^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric $e^+e^-$ collider. The first results of direct $C\!P$ asymmetry in two-body singly Cabibbo-suppressed (SCS) decays of charmed baryons are measured, $A_{C\!P}^{\rm{dir}}(Λ_c^+\toΛK^+)\!=\!+0.021\pm0.026\pm0.001$ and $A_{C\!P}^{\rm{dir}}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^0K^+)\!=\!+0.025\pm0.054\pm0.004$. We also make the most precise measurement of the decay asymmetry parameters ($α$) for the four modes of interest and search for $C\!P$ violation via the $α$-induced $C\!P$ asymmetry ($A_{C\!P}^α$). We measure $A_{C\!P}^α(Λ_c^+\toΛK^+)\!=\!{-0.023\pm0.086\pm0.071}$ and $A_{C\!P}^α(Λ_c^+\toΣ^0K^+)\!=\!{+0.08\pm 0.35\pm 0.14}$, which are the first $A_{C\!P}^α$ results for SCS decays of charmed baryons. We search for $Λ$-hyperon $C\!P$ violation in $Λ_c^+\to(Λ,\,Σ^0)π^+$ and find $A_{C\!P}^α(Λ\to pπ^{-})\!=\!{+0.013\pm0.007\pm0.011}$. This is the first time that hyperon $C\!P$ violation has been measured via Cabibbo-favored charm decays. No evidence of baryon $C\!P$ violation is found. We also obtain the most precise branching fractions for two SCS $Λ_c^+$ decays, $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΛK^+)\!=\!(6.57\pm0.17\pm0.11\pm0.35)\times10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^0K^+)\!=\!(3.58\pm0.19\pm0.06\pm0.19)\times10^{-4}$. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic, while the third uncertainties come from the uncertainties on the world average branching fractions of $Λ_c^+\to(Λ,\,Σ^0)π^+$.

We report a study of $B \to J/ψ(\ell^{+}\ell^{-})K$ decays, where $\ell$ represents an electron or a muon, using $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. The data were collected by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy collider during 2019-2021, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $189$ fb$^{-1}$. The measured quantities are the branching fractions (${\mathcal B}$) of the decay channels $B^{+} \to J/ψ(e^{+}e^{-})K^{+}$, $B^{+} \to J/ψ(μ^{+}μ^{-}) K^{+}$, $B^{0} \to J/ψ(e^{+}e^{-}) K^{0}_{S}$, and $B^{0} \to J/ψ(μ^{+}μ^{-})K^{0}_{S}$; the lepton-flavor-dependent isospin asymmetries for the electron [$A_{I}\left(B \to J/ψ(e^{+}e^{-}) K\right)$] and muon [$A_{I}\left(B \to J/ψ(μ^{+} μ^{-}) K\right)$] channels; and the ratios of branching fractions between the muon and electron channels for the charged [$R_{K^{+}}\left(J/ψ\right)$] and neutral kaon [$R_{K^{0}}\left(J/ψ\right)$] case. The measurements are consistent with the world-average values.

The first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, and the third uncertainty is systematic due to the assumption of isospin symmetry in $B \to J/ψ(\ell\ell) K$.

The dark photon $A^\prime$ and the dark Higgs boson $h^\prime$ are hypothetical particles predicted in many dark sector models. We search for the simultaneous production of $A^\prime$ and $h^\prime$ in the dark Higgsstrahlung process $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow A^\prime \, h^\prime$ with $A^\prime \rightarrow μ^+μ^-$ and $ h^\prime$ invisible in electron-positron collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019. With an integrated luminosity of 8.34 fb$^{-1}$, we observe no evidence for signal. We obtain exclusion limits at 90% Bayesian credibility in the range of 1.7--5.0 fb on the cross section and in the range of $1.7 \times10^{-8}$--$200 \times10^{-8}$ on the effective coupling $\varepsilon^2 \times α_D$ for the $A^\prime$ mass in the range of 4.0 GeV/$c^2$ $< M_{A^\prime}< 9.7$ GeV/$c^2$ and for the $h^\prime$ mass $M_{h^\prime} < M_{A^\prime}$, where $\varepsilon$ is the mixing strength between the standard model and the dark photon and $α_D$ is the coupling of the dark photon to the dark Higgs boson. Our limits are the first in this mass range.

A measurement of the ratio of these branching fractions is also presented, $\mathcal{R}_{K/π}=\mathcal{B}(\bar{B} \to D^{*+}K^-) /\mathcal{B}( \bar{B} \to D^{*+}π^-) = (8.41 \pm 0.24 \pm 0.13)\times 10^{-2}$, where systematic uncertainties due to the $D^{*+}$ meson reconstruction cancel out. Furthermore, we report a new QCD factorization test based on the measured ratios for $\bar{B} \to D^{*+}h^-$ and $\bar{B} \to D^{*+}\ell^-ν$ decays at squared momentum transfer values equivalent to the mass of the $h = π$ or $K$ hadron. The parameters $|a_1(h)|$ are measured to be $|a_1(π)|= 0.884 \pm 0.004 \pm 0.003 \pm 0.016$ and $|a_1(K)|=0.913 \pm 0.019 \pm 0.008 \pm 0.013$, where the last uncertainties account for all external inputs. These values are approximately $15\%$ lower than those expected from theoretical predictions. Subsequently, flavor $SU(3)$ symmetry is tested by measuring the ratios for pions and kaons, $|a_1(K)|^2/ |a_1(π)|^2=1.066 \pm 0.042 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.023$, as well as for different particle species. The ratio is consistent with unity and therefore no evidence for $SU(3)$ symmetry breaking effects is found at the $5\%$ precision level.

The Pandora Software Development Kit and algorithm libraries provide pattern-recognition logic essential to the reconstruction of particle interactions in liquid argon time projection chamber detectors. Pandora is the primary event reconstruction software used at ProtoDUNE-SP, a prototype for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment far detector. ProtoDUNE-SP, located at CERN, is exposed to a charged-particle test beam. This paper gives an overview of the Pandora reconstruction algorithms and how they have been tailored for use at ProtoDUNE-SP. In complex events with numerous cosmic-ray and beam background particles, the simulated reconstruction and identification efficiency for triggered test-beam particles is above 80% for the majority of particle type and beam momentum combinations. Specifically, simulated 1 GeV/$c$ charged pions and protons are correctly reconstructed and identified with efficiencies of 86.1$\pm0.6$% and 84.1$\pm0.6$%, respectively. The efficiencies measured for test-beam data are shown to be within 5% of those predicted by the simulation.

We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression discriminant, dipion masses, and decay angles of the selected samples, to determine a signal yield of $345 \pm 31$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0) = [23.2^{+\ 2.2}_{-\ 2.1} (\rm stat) \pm 2.7 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $f_L = 0.943 ^{+\ 0.035}_{-\ 0.033} (\rm stat)\pm 0.027(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}=-0.069 \pm 0.068(\rm stat) \pm 0.060 (\rm syst)$. The results agree with previous measurements. This is the first measurement of $\mathcal{A}_{CP}$ in $B^+\to ρ^+ρ^0$ decays reported by Belle II.

This region exhibits both a strong enhancement in signal and very large direct $CP$ violation. We construct a coherent sum model for the angular distribution of $S$- and $P$-wave, and report the ratio of their amplitudes, the relative phase and the forward-backward asymmetry. We also report absolute differential branching fractions and direct $CP$ asymmetry for the decay in bins of $M_{K^+K^-}$ and the differential branching fractions in bins of $M_{K^+π^-}$. The results are based on a data sample that contains $772\times10^6$ $B \bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The measured overall branching fraction and the direct $CP$ asymmetry are $(5.38\pm0.40\pm0.35)\times 10^{-6}$ and $-0.170\pm0.073\pm0.017$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

We present the analysis of two-particle angular correlations using coordinate systems defined with the conventional beam axis and the event thrust axis, and propose the latter to be a useful representation for the correlation structure interpretation in the $e^+ e^-$ collision system. The $e^+ e^-$ collisions to hadronic final states at center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s} = 10.52$ GeV and $10.58$ GeV are recorded by the Belle detector at KEKB. In this paper, results on the first dataset are supplementary to the previous Belle publication arXiv:2201.01694 while the latter one is the first two-particle correlation measurement at a collision energy on the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and sensitive to its decay products. Measurements are reported as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity. Finally, a qualitative understanding of the correlation structure is discussed using a combination of Monte Carlo simulations and experimental data.

We present the study of $\bar{B}^{0} \to Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++} π^{\pm} \bar{p}$ decays based on $772\times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The $Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++} $ candidates are reconstructed via their decay to $Λ_{c}^{+} π^{\mp}$ and $Λ_{c}^{+}$ decays to $pK^{-}π^{+},~pK_{S}^{0},$ and $Λπ^{+}$ final states. The corresponding branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Σ_{c}(2455)^{0} π^{+} \bar{p}) = (1.09 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.07)\times10^{-4}$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Σ_{c}(2455)^{++} π^{-} \bar{p}) = (1.84\pm 0.11 \pm 0.12)\times 10^{-4}$, which are consistent with the world average values with improved precision. A new structure is found in the $M_{Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++}π^{\pm}}$ spectrum with a significance of $4.2σ$ including systematic uncertainty. The structure is possibly an excited $Λ_{c}^{+}$ and is tentatively named $Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}$. Its mass and width are measured to be $(2913.8 \pm 5.6 \pm 3.8)$ MeV/$c^{2}$ and $(51.8\pm20.0 \pm 18.8)$ MeV, respectively. The products of branching fractions for the $Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}$ are measured to be ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}\bar{p})\times{\cal B}(Λ_{c}(2910)^{+} \to Σ_{c}(2455)^{0}π^{+}) = (9.5 \pm 3.6 \pm 1.6)\times 10^{-6}$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Λ_{c} (2910)^{+}\bar{p})\times {\cal B}(Λ_{c}(2910)^{+} \to Σ_{c}(2455)^{++}π^{-}) = (1.24 \pm 0.35 \pm 0.10)\times 10^{-5}$. The branching fraction ratio $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\to Λ_{c}^{+}π^{-})/\mathcal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\to Ξ^{-}π^{+})$ is measured to be $0.38 \pm 0.04 \pm 0.04$. Combing with the world average value of $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\to Ξ^{-}π^{+})$, the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\to Λ_{c}^{+}π^{-})$ is deduced to be $(0.54 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.12)\%$. Here, the uncertainties above are statistical, systematic, and from $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^{0} \to Ξ^{-}π^{+})$, respectively.

We present a reconstruction of the semileptonic decays $B^0 \to π^- e^+ ν_e$ and $B^+ \to π^0 e^+ ν_e$ in a sample corresponding to 189.3 fb$^{-1}$ of Belle II data, using events where the partner $B$-meson is reconstructed from a large variety of hadronic channels via a tagging algorithm known as the full-event-interpretation. We determine the partial branching fractions in three bins of the squared momentum transfer to the leptonic system using fits to the distribution of the square of the missing mass. The partial branching fractions are summed to determine $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to π^- e^+ ν_e)$ = (1.43 $\pm$ 0.27(stat) $\pm$ 0.07(syst)) $\times 10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to π^0 e^+ ν_e)$ = (8.33 $\pm$ 1.67(stat) $\pm$ 0.55(syst)) $\times 10^{-5}$. We extract a first Belle II measurement of the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{\mathrm{ub}}|$, with $|V_{\mathrm{ub}}|$ = (3.88 $\pm$ 0.45) $\times 10^{-3}$.

The data was collected during 2019--2021 by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB $e^{+}e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. We reconstruct $K^{\ast}(892)$ candidates in the $K^+π^-$, $K_{S}^{0}π^+$, and $K^+π^0$ final states. The signal yields with statistical uncertainties are $22\pm 6$, $18 \pm 6$, and $38 \pm 9$ for the decays $B \to K^{\ast}(892)μ^+μ^-$, $B \to K^{\ast}(892)e^+e^-$, and $B \to K^{\ast}(892)\ell^+\ell^-$, respectively. We measure the branching fractions of these decays for the entire range of the dilepton mass, excluding the very low mass region to suppress the $B \to K^{\ast}(892)γ(\to e^+e^-)$ background and regions compatible with decays of charmonium resonances, to be \begin{equation} {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)μ^+μ^-) = (1.19 \pm 0.31 ^{+0.08}_{-0.07}) \times 10^{-6}, {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)e^+e^-) = (1.42 \pm 0.48 \pm 0.09)\times 10^{-6}, {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)\ell^+\ell^-) = (1.25 \pm 0.30 ^{+0.08}_{-0.07}) \times 10^{-6}, \end{equation} where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These results, limited by sample size, are the first measurements of $B \to K^{\ast}(892)\ell^+\ell^-$ branching fractions from the Belle II experiment.

Upgrading the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider with polarized electron beams opens a new program of precision physics at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV. This white paper describes the physics potential of this `Chiral Belle' program. It includes projections for precision measurements of $\sin^2θ_W$ that can be obtained from independent left-right asymmetry measurements of $e^+e^-$ transitions to pairs of electrons, muons, taus, charm and b-quarks. The $\sin^2θ_W$ precision obtainable at SuperKEKB will match that of the LEP/SLC world average, but at the centre-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV. Measurements of the couplings for muons, charm, and $b$-quarks will be substantially improved and the existing $3σ$ discrepancy between the SLC $A_{LR}$ and LEP $A_{FB}^b$ measurements will be addressed. Precision measurements of neutral current universality will be more than an order of magnitude more precise than currently available. As the energy scale is well away from the $Z^0$-pole, the precision measurements will have sensitivity to the presence of a parity-violating dark sector gauge boson, $Z_{\rm dark}$. The program also enables the measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment $g-2$ form factor of the $τ$ to be made at an unprecedented level of precision. A precision of $10^{-5}$ level is accessible with 40~ab$^{-1}$ and with more data it would start to approach the $10^{-6}$ level. This technique would provide the most precise information from the third generation about potential new physics explanations of the muon $g-2$ $4σ$ anomaly. Additional $τ$ and QCD physics programs enabled or enhanced with having polarized electron beams are also discussed in this White Paper. This paper includes a summary of the path forward in R&D and next steps required to implement this upgrade and access its exciting discovery potential.

We present measurements of the branching fractions for the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays $D^+\to K^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{0}$ and $D_s^{+}\to K^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{0}$, and the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $D^{+}\to K^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{0}$, based on 980 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data recorded by the Belle experiment at the KEKB $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. We measure these modes relative to the Cabibbo-favored modes $D^{+}\to K^{-}π^{+}π^{+}π^{0}$ and $D_s^{+}\to K^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{0}$. Our results for the ratios of branching fractions are $B(D^{+}\to K^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{0})/B(D^{+}\to K^{-}π^{+}π^{+}π^{0}) = (11.32 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.26)\%$, $B(D^{+}\to K^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{0})/B(D^{+}\to K^{-}π^{+}π^{+}π^{0}) = (1.68 \pm 0.11\pm 0.03)\%$, and $B(D_s^{+}\to K^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{0})/B(D_s^{+}\to K^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{0}) = (17.13 \pm 0.62 \pm 0.51)\%$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The second value corresponds to $(5.83\pm 0.42)\times\tan^4θ_C$, where $θ_C$ is the Cabibbo angle; this value is larger than other measured ratios of branching fractions for a doubly Cabibbo-suppressed charm decay to a Cabibbo-favored decay. Multiplying these results by world average values for $B(D^{+}\to K^{-}π^{+}π^{+}π^{0})$ and $B(D_s^{+}\to K^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{0})$ yields $B(D^{+}\to K^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{0})= (7.08\pm 0.08\pm 0.16\pm 0.20)\times10^{-3}$, $B(D^{+}\to K^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{0})= (1.05\pm 0.07\pm 0.02\pm 0.03)\times10^{-3}$, and $B(D_s^{+}\to K^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{0}) = (9.44\pm 0.34\pm 0.28\pm 0.32)\times10^{-3}$, where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction of the normalization mode. The first two results are consistent with, but more precise than, the current world averages. The last result is the first measurement of this branching fraction.

Liquid argon time projection chamber detector technology provides high spatial and calorimetric resolutions on the charged particles traversing liquid argon. As a result, the technology has been used in a number of recent neutrino experiments, and is the technology of choice for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE). In order to perform high precision measurements of neutrinos in the detector, final state particles need to be effectively identified, and their energy accurately reconstructed. This article proposes an algorithm based on a convolutional neural network to perform the classification of energy deposits and reconstructed particles as track-like or arising from electromagnetic cascades. Results from testing the algorithm on data from ProtoDUNE-SP, a prototype of the DUNE far detector, are presented. The network identifies track- and shower-like particles, as well as Michel electrons, with high efficiency. The performance of the algorithm is consistent between data and simulation.

Charged particles propagating through the LArTPC produce ionization and scintillation light. The scintillation light signal in these detectors can provide the trigger for non-beam events. In addition, it adds precise timing capabilities and improves the calorimetry measurements. In ProtoDUNE-DP, scintillation and electroluminescence light produced by cosmic muons in the LArTPC is collected by photomultiplier tubes placed up to 7 m away from the ionizing track. In this paper, the ProtoDUNE-DP photon detection system performance is evaluated with a particular focus on the different wavelength shifters, such as PEN and TPB, and the use of Xe-doped LAr, considering its future use in giant LArTPCs. The scintillation light production and propagation processes are analyzed and a comparison of simulation to data is performed, improving understanding of the liquid argon properties

The large samples of $B$ mesons, charm hadrons, and tau leptons produced in the clean experimental environment of $e^+e^-$ collisions will provide the basis of a broad and unique flavor-physics program. Belle II will pursue physics beyond the Standard Model in many ways, for example: improving the precision of weak interaction parameters, particularly Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix elements and phases, and thus more rigorously test the CKM paradigm, measuring lepton-flavor-violating parameters, and performing unique searches for missing-mass dark matter events. Many key measurements will be made with world-leading precision.

The LBNF high-intensity proton beam will provide a large flux of neutrinos that is sampled by ND-GAr, enabling DUNE to discover new particles and search for new interactions and symmetries beyond those predicted in the Standard Model.

The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is a next-generation long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment with a primary physics goal of observing neutrino and antineutrino oscillation patterns to precisely measure the parameters governing long-baseline neutrino oscillation in a single experiment, and to test the three-flavor paradigm. DUNE's design has been developed by a large, international collaboration of scientists and engineers to have unique capability to measure neutrino oscillation as a function of energy in a broadband beam, to resolve degeneracy among oscillation parameters, and to control systematic uncertainty using the exquisite imaging capability of massive LArTPC far detector modules and an argon-based near detector. DUNE's neutrino oscillation measurements will unambiguously resolve the neutrino mass ordering and provide the sensitivity to discover CP violation in neutrinos for a wide range of possible values of $δ_{CP}$. DUNE is also uniquely sensitive to electron neutrinos from a galactic supernova burst, and to a broad range of physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM), including nucleon decays. DUNE is anticipated to begin collecting physics data with Phase I, an initial experiment configuration consisting of two far detector modules and a minimal suite of near detector components, with a 1.2 MW proton beam. To realize its extensive, world-leading physics potential requires the full scope of DUNE be completed in Phase II. The three Phase II upgrades are all necessary to achieve DUNE's physics goals: (1) addition of far detector modules three and four for a total FD fiducial mass of at least 40 kt, (2) upgrade of the proton beam power from 1.2 MW to 2.4 MW, and (3) replacement of the near detector's temporary muon spectrometer with a magnetized, high-pressure gaseous argon TPC and calorimeter.

We do not observe any statistically significant signal yield in the $K_S^0$-pair invariant mass range 1 GeV/$c^2 < M_{K_S^0 K_S^0} < $ 3 GeV/$c^2$, and set the following upper limits at 90% confidence level: $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K_S^0 K_S^0 γ) < 5.8\times10^{-7}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to f_2 γ)\times \mathcal{B}(f_2 (1270) \to K_S^0 K_S^0 ) < 3.1\times10^{-7}$, and $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to f_2^{\prime} γ)\times \mathcal{B}(f_2^{\prime} (1525) \to K_S^0 K_S^0 ) < 2.1\times10^{-7}$. Further, 90% confidence upper limits have also been set in the range of [0.7-2.9]$\times10^{-7}$ on the $B^0 \rightarrow K_S^0 K_S^0 γ$ branching fraction in bins of $M_{K_S^0 K_S^0}$.

The Belle II barrel region is instrumented with the Time of Propagation (TOP) particle identification system based on sixteen fused-silica bars arranged around the interaction point acting as Cherenkov radiator. Due to the mechanical design of the TOP system these quartz bars do not overlap, but leave a gap of around 2cm between them. This leads to around 6% of all tracks in the nominal TOP acceptance region to escape without traversing any of the quartz bars and thus not giving any usable particle identification information from the TOP system and an additional 3% of tracks being degraded due to edge effects. We propose a possible solution to remedy these gaps in the TOP acceptance in the form of a Supplemental TOP GAP instrumentation (STOPGAP) that covers the dead area between adjacent quartz bars with fast silicon detectors to directly measure the time-of-flight of traversing particles for particle identification purposes. Modern, fast timing silicon sensors and readouts can offer sufficient time resolution for the task at hand, so that STOPGAP modules could be built compact enough to fit into the limited space available in the area of interest between the Belle II central drift chamber (CDC) and the TOP system.
In this article, we present a simulation study demonstrating the feasibility of a silicon time-of-flight system based on its reconstruction performance in $Υ(4S)\rightarrow B\bar{B}$ events simulated using the Belle II simulation and reconstruction software. We discuss the performance requirements for possible sensor technologies and demonstrate that such a project could be realised with novel, fast monolithic CMOS sensors that are expected to reach MIP timing resolutions of down to 50ps. Additionally, we discuss the use of fast timing layers at lower radii for track triggering as well as particle identification at low momenta <1GeV/c.

The High Energy Physics community can benefit from a natural synergy in research activities into next-generation large-scale water and scintillator neutrino detectors, now being studied for remote reactor monitoring, discovery and exclusion applications in cooperative nonproliferation contexts.
Since approximately 2010, US nonproliferation researchers, supported by the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), have been studying a range of possible applications of relatively large (100 ton) to very large (hundreds of kiloton) water and scintillator neutrino detectors.
In parallel, the fundamental physics community has been develo** detectors at similar scales and with similar design features for a range of high-priority physics topics, primarily in fundamental neutrino physics. These topics include neutrino oscillation studies at beams and reactors, solar, and geological neutrino measurements, supernova studies, and others.
Examples of ongoing synergistic work at U.S. national laboratories and universities include prototype gadolinium-doped water and water-based and opaque scintillator test-beds and demonstrators, extensive testing and industry partnerships related to large area fast position-sensitive photomultiplier tubes, and the development of concepts for a possible underground kiloton-scale water-based detector for reactor monitoring and technology demonstrations.
Some opportunities for engagement between the two communities include bi-annual Applied Antineutrino Physics conferences, collaboration with U.S. National Laboratories engaging in this research, and occasional NNSA funding opportunities supporting a blend of nonproliferation and basic science R&D, directed at the U.S. academic community.

In the pursuit of the measurement of the still-elusive ultrahigh-energy (UHE) neutrino flux at energies of order EeV, detectors using the in-ice Askaryan radio technique have increasingly targeted lower trigger thresholds. This has led to improved trigger-level sensitivity to UHE neutrinos. Working with data collected by the Askaryan Radio Array (ARA), we search for neutrino candidates at the lowest threshold achieved to date, leading to improved analysis-level sensitivities. A neutrino search on a data set with 208.7~days of livetime from the reduced-threshold fifth ARA station is performed, achieving a 68\% analysis efficiency over all energies on a simulated mixed-composition neutrino flux with an expected background of $0.10_{-0.04}^{+0.06}$ events passing the analysis. We observe one event passing our analysis and proceed to set a neutrino flux limit using a Feldman-Cousins construction. We show that the improved trigger-level sensitivity can be carried through an analysis, motivating the Phased Array triggering technique for use in future radio-detection experiments. We also include a projection using all available data from this detector. Finally, we find that future analyses will benefit from studies of events near the surface to fully understand the background expected for a large-scale detector.
