In this paper, we investigate theoretically the potential of a nanoelectromechanical suspended beam resonator excited by two-external frequencies as a hardware random number generator (HRNG). This system exhibits robust chaos, which is usually required for practical applications of chaos. Taking advantage of the robust chaotic oscillations we consider the beam position as a possible random variable and perform tests to check its randomness. The beam position collected at fixed time intervals is used to create a set of values that is a candidate for a random sequence of numbers. To determine how close to a random sequence this set is we perform several known statistical tests of randomness. The performance of the random sequence in the simulation of two relevant physical problems, the random walk and the Ising model, is also investigated. An excellent overall performance of the system as a random number generator is obtained.

Abstract:
Kinetic energies of a system of $^4$He are investigated at zero temperature. The multi-weight extension to the diffusion Monte Carlo method is used to implement the Feynman-Hellmann theorem in an effective way. This method allows the quantities of interest to be computed with excellent accuracy. In order to study the importance of symmetry in the kinetic energy calculations, we have considered for…

The multi-weight extension to the diffusion Monte Carlo method is used to implement the Feynman-Hellmann theorem in an effective way. This method allows the quantities of interest to be computed with excellent accuracy. In order to study the importance of symmetry in the kinetic energy calculations, we have considered for the solid phase two guiding wave functions: the Nosanov-Jastrow without boson symmetry and the symmetric Nosanov-Jastrow with boson symmetry. In general very good agreement is found with the experimental data at both the liquid and solid phases.

Abstract:
A state of an electron in a quantum wire or a thin film becomes metastable, when a static electric field is applied perpendicular to the wire direction or the film surface. The state decays via tunneling through the created potential barrier. An additionally applied magnetic field, perpendicular to the electric field, can increase the tunneling decay rate for many orders of magnitude. This happe…

This happens, when the state in the wire or the film has a velocity perpendicular to the magnetic field. According to the cyclotron effect, the velocity rotates under the barrier and becomes more aligned with the direction of tunneling. This mechanism can be called cyclotron enhancement of tunneling.

Authors:

Abstract:
The effect of three-body interatomic contributions in the equation of state of 4He are investigated. A recent two-body potential together with the Cohen and Murrell (Chem. Phys. Lett. 260, 371 (1996)) three-body potential are applied to describe bulk helium. The triple-dipole dispersion and exchange energies are evaluated subjected only to statistical uncertainties. An extension of the diffusion…

Lett. 260, 371 (1996)) three-body potential are applied to describe bulk helium. The triple-dipole dispersion and exchange energies are evaluated subjected only to statistical uncertainties. An extension of the diffusion Monte Carlo method is applied in order to compute very small energies differences. The results show how the three-body contributions affects the ground-state energy, the equilibrium, melting and freezing densities.
