Precise and accurate measurements of strong-field photoionisation and a transferrable laser intensity calibration standard
Abstract: Ionization of atoms and molecules in strong laser fields is a fundamental process in many fields of research, especially in the emerging field of attosecond science. So far, demonstrably accurate data have only been acquired for atomic hydrogen (H), a species that is accessible to few investigators. Here we present measurements of the ionization yield for argon, krypton, and xenon with percentleve… ▽ More

Measuring laser carrier-envelope phase effects in the noble gases with an atomic hydrogen calibration standard
Abstract: We present accurate measurements of carrier-envelope phase effects on ionisation of the noble gases with few-cycle laser pulses. The experimental apparatus is calibrated by using atomic hydrogen data to remove any systematic offsets and thereby obtain accurate CEP data on other generally used noble gases such as Ar, Kr and Xe. Experimental results for H are well supported by exact TDSE theoretical… ▽ More

Excited to excited state scattering using weak measurements
Abstract: Weak measurements are a subset of measurement processes in quantum mechanics wherein the system which is being measured interacts very weakly with the measuring apparatus. Measurement values of observables undergoing a weak interaction and their amplification, are concepts that have sharpened our understanding of interaction processes in quantum mechanics. Recent experiments show that naturally oc… ▽ More

Effects of linear and quadratic dispersive couplings on optical squeezing in an optomechanical system
Abstract: A conventional optomechanical system is composed of a mechanical mode and an optical mode interacting through a linear optomechanical coupling (LOC). We study how the presence of quadratic optomechanical coupling (QOC) in the conventional optomechanical system affects the system's stability and optical quadrature squeezing. We work in the resolved side-band limit with a high quality factor mechani… ▽ More

Enumeration for the total number of all spanning forests of complete tripartite graph based on the combinatorial decomposition
Abstract: This paper discusses the enumeration for the total number of all rooted spanning forests of the labeled complete tripartite graph. We enumerate the total number by a combinatorial decomposition.

An Efficient Quantum Algorithm and Circuit to Generate Eigenstates of SU(2) and SU(3) Representations
Abstract: This thesis presents an efficient quantum algorithm and explicit circuits for generating eigenstates of arbitrary SU(2) and SU(3) representations. These include a wide variety of highly entangled states. The algorithm uses Schur transform that rotates the input computational basis states to the output Schur basis states with resources polynomial in number of qudits n. Using the fact that quantum l… ▽ More

A mechanical switch for state transfer in dual cavity optomechanical systems
Abstract: Dual cavity opto-electromechanical systems (OEMS) are those where two electromagnetic cavities are connected by a common mechanical spring. These systems have been shown to facilitate high fidelity quantum state transfer from one cavity to another. In this paper, we explicitly calculate the effect on the fidelity of state transfer, when an additional spring is attached to only one of the cavities.… ▽ More
