Data, Data, Everywhere: Uncovering Everyday Data Experiences for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
Abstract: Data is everywhere but may not be accessible to everyone. Conventional data visualization tools and guidelines often do not actively consider the specific needs and abilities of people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), leaving them excluded from data-driven activities and vulnerable to ethical issues. To understand the needs and challenges people with IDD have with data, we c… ▽ More

RSSI prediction using Machine Learning models
Abstract: In this study, we present a method to predict the Received signal strength indication (RSSI) in an area of the base station. Traditional attenuated wave propagation models are often time consuming as well as computationally complex, depending on the unique factors of the medium. This study focuses on providing a solution to predict signal quality using coordinate values of many points in the consi… ▽ More

Discriminants of cubic curves and determinantal representations
Abstract: The discriminant of a smooth plane cubic curve over the complex numbers can be written as a product of theta functions. This provides an important connection between algebraic and analytic objects. In this paper, we perform a new approach to obtain this classical result by using determinantal representations. More precisely, one can represent a non-singular cubic form as the determinant of a matri… ▽ More

Invariants of models of genus one curves and modular forms
Abstract: An invariant of a model of genus one curve is a polynomial in the coefficients of the model that is stable under certain linear transformations. The classical example of an invariant is the discriminant, which characterizes the singularity of models. The ring of invariants of genus one models over a field is generated by two elements. Fisher normalized these invariants for models of degree n=2,3,4… ▽ More

Uniform bounds for rational points on complete intersections of two quadric surfaces
Abstract: We give uniform upper bounds for the number of rational points of height at most $B$ on non-singular complete intersections of two quadrics in $\mathbb{P}^3$ defined over $\mathbb{Q}$. To do this, we combine determinant methods with descent arguments.

Counting rational points on smooth cubic curves
Abstract: We use a global version of Heath-Brown's $p-$adic determinant method developed by Salberger to give upper bounds for the number of rational points of height at most $B$ on non-singular cubic curves defined over $\mathbb{Q}$. The bounds are uniform in the sense that they only depend on the rank of the corresponding Jacobian.

Analysis of the mean squared derivative cost function
Abstract: In this paper, we investigate the mean squared derivative cost functions that arise in various applications such as in motor control, biometrics and optimal transport theory. We provide qualitative properties, explicit analytical formulas and computational algorithms for the cost functions. We also perform numerical simulations to illustrate the analytical results. In addition, as a by-product of… ▽ More
