Hamiltonian approach to modelling interfacial internal waves over variable bottom
Abstract: We study the effects of an uneven bottom on the internal wave propagation in the presence of stratification and underlying non-uniform currents. Thus, the presented models incorporate vorticity (wave-current interactions), geophysical effects (Coriolis force) and a variable bathymetry. An example of the physical situation described above is well illustrated by the equatorial internal waves in the… ▽ More

On Asymptotic Dynamical Regimes of Manakov $N$-soliton Trains in Adiabatic Approximation
Abstract: We analyze the dynamical behavior of the $N$-soliton train in the adiabatic approximation of the Manakov model. %perturbed by gain/loss effects and also by several types of external potentials. The evolution of Manakov $N$-soliton trains is described by the complex Toda chain (CTC) which is a completely integrable dynamical model. Calculating the eigenvalues of its Lax matrix allows us to determin… ▽ More

Surface waves over currents and uneven bottom
Abstract: The propagation of surface water waves interacting with a current and an uneven bottom is studied. Such a situation is typical for ocean waves where the winds generate currents in the top layer of the ocean. The role of the bottom topography is taken into account since it also influences the local wave and current patterns. Specific scaling of the variables is selected which leads to approximation… ▽ More

Manakov model with gain/loss terms and $N$-soliton interactions: Effects of periodic potentials
Abstract: We analyze the dynamical behavior of the N-soliton train in the adiabatic approximation of the perturbed nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation and the Manakov model. The perturbations include the simultaneous by a periodic external potential, and linear and nonlinear gain/loss terms. We derive the corresponding perturbed complex Toda chain (PCTC) models for both NLS and Manakov model. We show that… ▽ More

Hamiltonian models for the propagation of irrotational surface gravity waves over a variable bottom
Abstract: A single incompressible, inviscid, irrotational fluid medium bounded by a free surface and varying bottom is considered. The Hamiltonian of the system is expressed in terms of the so-called Dirichlet-Neumann operators. The equations for the surface waves are presented in Hamiltonian form. Specific scaling of the variables is selected which leads to approximations of Boussinesq and KdV types taking… ▽ More

Adiabatic Interactions of Manakov Solitons -- Effects of Cross-modulation
Abstract: We investigate the asymptotic behavior of the Manakov soliton trains perturbed by cross-modulation in the adiabatic approximation. The multisoliton interactions in the adiabatic approximation are modeled by a generalized Complex Toda chain (GCTC). The cross-modulation requires special treating for the evolution of the polarization vectors of the solitons. The numerical predictions of the Manakov s… ▽ More

Phenomenological description of anisotropy effects in some ferromagnetic superconductors
Abstract: We study phenomenologically by using the previously derived Landau free energy, the role of anisotropy in ferromagnetic superconductors UGe2, URhGe, and UCoGe. The three compounds are separately discussed with the special stress on UGe2. The main effect comes from the strong uniaxial anisotropy of magnetization while the anisotropy of Cooper pairs and crystal anisotropy only slightly change the ph… ▽ More

Asymptotic Behavior of Manakov Solitons: Effects of Potential Wells and Humps
Abstract: We consider the asymptotic behavior of the soliton solutions of Manakov's system perturbed by external potentials. It has already been established that its multisoliton interactions in the adiabatic approximation can be modeled by the Complex Toda chain (CTC). The fact that the CTC is a completely integrable system, enables us to determine the asymptotic behavior of the multisoliton trains. In the… ▽ More

Electrically Charged Einstein-Born-Infeld Black Holes with Massive Dilaton
Abstract: We numerically construct static and spherically symmetric electrically charged black hole solutions in Einstein-Born-Infeld gravity with massive dilaton. The numerical solutions show that the dilaton potential allows many more black hole causal structures than the massless dilaton. We find that depending on the black hole mass and charge and the dilaton mass the black holes can have either one,… ▽ More

A Free Boundary Problem in the Theory of the Stars
Abstract: We investigate numerically models of the static spherically symmetric boson-fermion stars in the scalar-tensor theory of gravity with massive dilaton field. The proper mathematical model of such stars is interpreted as a nonlinear two-parametric eigenvalue problem with unknown internal boundary. To solve this problem the Continuous Analogue of Newton Method is used.
