Planarian is an intriguing model system wherein the effect of electric and magnetic fields can be studied on various biochemical pathways during cell morphogenesis. Recent experimental observations have demonstrated the non-trivial modulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels by a weak magnetic field during planaria regeneration. However, the underlying biophysical mechanism behind this remains elusive. In this paper, we study the radical pair mechanism to explain the effect of weak magnetic fields on ROS modulation during planaria regeneration to explain the experimental results. We also investigate the effect of chirality-induced spin selectivity (CISS) on ROS levels by including it in the framework of the radical pair mechanism. We conclude that the inclusion of CISS explains the experimental results better and allows the radical pair model to have more parametric space to satisfy the experimental constraints. This study explains the crucial process of ROS modulation by the weak magnetic field with and without CISS, thereby paving the way to unraveling the vast domain of ROS modulation for desired outcomes.

With the increase in the number of electric vehicles (EV), there is a need for the development of the EV charging infrastructure (EVCI) to facilitate fast charging, thereby mitigating the EV congestion at charging stations. The role of the public charging station depot is to charge the vehicle, prioritizing the achievement of the desired state of charge (SoC) value for the EV battery or charging till the departure of the EV, whichever occurs first. The integration of cyber and physical components within EVCI defines it as a cyber physical power system (CPPS), increasing its vulnerability to diverse cyber attacks. When an EV interfaces with the EVCI, mutual exchange of data takes place via various communication protocols like the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP), and IEC 61850. Unauthorized access to this data by intruders leads to cyber attacks, potentially resulting in consequences like energy theft, and revenue loss. These scenarios may cause the EVCI to incur higher charges than the actual energy consumed or the EV owners to remit payments that do not correspond adequately to the amount of energy they have consumed. This article proposes an EVCI architecture connected to the utility grid and uses the EVCI data to identify the anomalies or outliers present in the EV transmitted data, particularly focusing on SoC irregularities.

The Hubble tension refers to the discrepancy in the value of the Hubble constant $H_0$ inferred from the cosmic microwave background observations, assuming the concordance $Λ$CDM model of the Universe, and that from the distance ladder and other direct measurements. In order to alleviate this tension, we construct a plausible dark energy scenario, within the framework of Horndeski gravity which is one of the most general scalar-tensor theories yielding second-order equations. In our set-up, we include the self-interactions and nonminimal coupling of the dynamical dark energy scalar field which enable very interesting dynamics leading to a phantom behaviour at low redshifts along with negative dark energy densities at high redshifts. These two features together make this model a promising scenario to alleviate the Hubble tension for appropriate choices of the model parameters. Towards a consistent model building, we show that this set-up is also free from both the gradient and ghost instabilities. Finally, we confront the predictions of the model with low redshift observations from Pantheon, SH0ES, cosmic chronometers and BAO, to obtain best fit constraints on model parameters.

This work investigates the effect of chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS) on quantum spin coherence in the radical pair mechanism of avian magnetoreception. Additionally, we examine the utilitarian role of coherence for the avian compass by analyzing its correlation with the yield of the signaling state. We find that both the relative entropy of global coherence and local coherence in the radical pair increases with CISS. However, only global coherence exhibit the utilitarian role for the avian compass. We also analyze the interplay of dipolar interaction with the CISS and their effect on the coherence of the radical pair. Further, we analyze the effect of environmental decoherence along with CISS. We conclude that a high CISS results in a high correlation of global coherence with signaling state yield. It confirms that CISS plays an important role both for compass sensitivity and coherence in the avian compass.

In this paper, we investigate the effect of chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS) on the radical pair model of avian magnetoreception. We examine the impact of spin selectivity on the avian compass sensitivity. In this analysis, we also consider the dipolar and exchange interactions and observe their interplay with CISS. We find that CISS results in multifold increase in avian compass sensitivity. Interestingly, we also observe that CISS can counter the deleterious effect of dipolar interaction and increase system sensitivity. The analysis has been performed for both the toy model (only 1 nucleus) and a more general case where we consider 4-nuclei from the cryptochrome radical pair system. We observe that the CISS allows the radical pair model to have a more realistic rate with good sensitivity. We also do analysis of functional window of avian compass reported in behavioral experiments in functional window. We could not find a parameter set where functional window can be observed along with CISS.

We study the observational implications of a class of inflationary models wherein the inflaton is coupled to the Einstein tensor through a generalized non-minimal derivative coupling (GNMDC). In particular, we explore whether these models can generate suitable features in the primordial spectrum of curvature perturbations as a possible explanation for the large-scale anomalies associated with the angular power spectrum of CMB temperature anisotropies. We derive model-independent constraints on the GNMDC function for such a scenario, considering both the scalar and tensor perturbations. We modify CosmoMC to accommodate our GNMDC framework and investigate different classes of inflationary models using a fully consistent numerical approach. We find that the hilltop-quartic model with a specific choice of the GNMDC function provides a considerable improvement over the best-fit reference $Λ$CDM model with a nearly scale-invariant power spectrum. While the large-scale structure observations should be able to provide independent constraints, future CMB experiments, such as CMB-S4 and CMB-Bharat, are expected to constrain further the parameter space of such beyond canonical single-field inflationary models.

The external control parameters are directly related to the magnitude of decoherence. This in turn limits the range of values of those parameters for which operations can be done with high fidelity. In this work, using a model of quantum dot spin qubit system, we investigate the impact of varying ac magnetic fields on suppression of decoherence. We report an increment in the usable range of static magnetic field value using our technique.

The various models used in the experiments tried to obtain a latent space representation for each of the sentences. Linear regression was performed on these representations to classify whether the sentence is causal or not. The experiments have shown BERT (Large) performed the best, giving a F1 score of 0.958, in the task of detecting the causality of sentences in financial texts and reports. The class imbalance was dealt with a modified loss function to give a better metric score for the evaluation.
