Properties of relativistic star in 5-D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity
Abstract: In recent years, there has been a growing interest in stellar modelling in the framework of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. In this paper, for a relativistic star in static equilibrium, we invoke the $5$ dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity and solve the system by assuming a matter distribution that admits a linear equation of state (EOS). We fix the model parameters by matching the interior s… ▽ More

Anisotropic generalization of Vaidya-Tikekar superdense star
Abstract: We study superdense relativistic stars with anisotropic matter distributions with spheroidal spatial hypersurfaces. We propose a methodology to make an anisotropic generalization of the Vaidya-Tikekar superdense star model. The anisotropic Einstein field equations can be solved in terms of hypergeometric functions for our choice of gravitational potential and anisotropy. Particular parameter choic… ▽ More

Anisotropic generalization of well-known solutions describing relativistic self-gravitating fluid systems: An algorithm
Abstract: We present an algorithm to generalize a plethora of well-known solutions to Einstein field equations describing spherically symmetric relativistic fluid spheres by relaxing the pressure isotropy condition on the system. By suitably fixing the model parameters in our formulation, we generate closed-form solutions which may be treated as anisotropic generalization of a large class of solutions descr… ▽ More

Anisotropic extension of Finch and Skea stellar model
Abstract: In this paper, the spacetime geometry of Finch and Skea [Class. Quantum Grav., 6 (1989) 467] has been utilized to obtain closed-form solutions for a spherically symmetric anisotropic matter distribution. By examining its physical admissibility, it has been shown that the class of solutions can be used as viable models for observed pulsars. In particular, a specific class of solutions can be used a… ▽ More

Radiating fluid sphere immersed in an anisotropic atmosphere
Abstract: We model a radiating star undergoing dissipative gravitational collapse in the form of radial heat flux. The exterior of the collapsing star is described by the generalised Vaidya solution representing a mixture of null radiation and strings. Our model generalises previously known results of constant string density atmosphere to include inhomogeneities in the exterior spacetime. By utilising a cau… ▽ More

Causal heat flow in Bianchi type-V universe
Abstract: In this paper we investigate the role of causal heat transport in a spatially homogeneous, locally-rotationally symmetric Bianchi type-V cosmological model. In particular, the causal temperature profile of the cosmological fluid is obtained within the framework of extended irreversible thermodynamics. We demonstrate that relaxational effects can alter the temperature profile when the cosmological… ▽ More

Shearing radiative collapse with expansion and acceleration
Abstract: We investigate the behaviour of a relativistic spherically symmetric radiative star with an accelerating, expanding and shearing interior matter distribution in the presence of anisotropic pressures. The junction condition can be written in standard form in three cases: linear, Bernoulli and Riccati equations. We can integrate the boundary condition in each case and three classes of new solutions… ▽ More

Mixed potentials in radiative stellar collapse
Abstract: We study the behaviour of a radiating star when the interior expanding, shearing fluid particles are traveling in geodesic motion. We demonstrate that it is possible to obtain new classes of exact solutions in terms of elementary functions without assuming a separable form for the gravitational potentials or initially fixing the temporal evolution of the model unlike earlier treatments. Charged relativistic spheres with generalized potentials
Abstract: A new class of exact solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell system is found in closed form. This is achieved by choosing a generalised form for one of the gravitational potentials and a particular form for the electric field intensity. For specific values of the parameters it is possible to write the new series solutions in terms of elementary functions. We regain well known physically reasonable mod… ▽ More

Generalised isothermal models with strange equation of state
Abstract: We consider the linear equation of state for matter distributions that may be applied to strange stars with quark matter. In our general approach the compact relativistic body allows for anisotropic pressures in the presence of the electromagnetic field. New exact solutions are found to the Einstein-Maxwell system. A particular case is shown to be regular at the stellar centre. In the isotropic… ▽ More

Radiating relativistic matter in geodesic motion
