Because of their extreme densities and consequently, gravitational potential, compact objects such as neutron stars can prove to be excellent captors of dark matter particles. Considering purely gravitational interactions between dark and hadronic matter, we construct dark matter admixed stars composed of two-fluid matter subject to current astrophysical constraints of maximum mass and tidal deformability. We choose a wide range of parameters to construct the dark matter equation of state, and the DDME2 parameterization for the hadronic equation of state. We then examine the effect of dark matter on the stellar structure, tidal deformability and non-radial modes considering the relativistic Cowling approximation. We find the effect on $p$-modes is substantial, with frequencies decreasing up to the typical $f-$mode frequency range for most stars with a dark matter halo. The effects on the $f-$mode frequency are less extreme. Finally, we find the most probable and $1σ$ values of the dark matter parameters used in this study.

The current work involves augmenting the $Δ(54)$ discrete flavor model by incorporating two Standard Model Higgs particles into the Inverse Seesaw mechanism. We introduced Weyl fermions and Vector like fermions, which are gauge singlets in the Standard Model and produces Majorana mass terms in our lagrangian. The resulting mass matrix deviates from the tribimaximal neutrino mixing pattern producing a non-zero reactor angle ($θ_{13}$) . We have determined the effective Majorana neutrino mass, which is the parameter of relevance in neutrinoless double beta decay investigations, using the model's limited six-dimensional parameter space. We additionally investigate the possibility of baryogenesis in the proposed framework via resonant leptogenesis. We have the non-zero value for resonantly enhanced CP asymmetry originating from the decay of right-handed neutrinos at the TeV scale, accounting for flavor effects. The evolution of lepton asymmetry is systematically analyzed by numerically solving a set of Boltzmann equations, leading to the determination of the baryon asymmetry with a magnitude of $ \lvert η_B \rvert \approx 6 \times 10^{-10}$. This outcome is achieved by selecting specific values for the right-handed neutrino mass $M_1 = 10$ TeV and mass splitting, $d \approx 10^{-8}$.

We investigate the parameter space of the minimal inverse seesaw ISS(2,2) model for successful leptogenesis. The framework of ISS(2, 2) is realized by augmenting the Standard Model with two right-handed and two Standard Model singlet neutrinos. The decay of the heavy sterile states which is essentially an admixture of the right-handed and SM singlet neutrino states produces the baryon asymmetry of the universe. In this predictive model of leptogenesis, we study resonant leptogenesis where the mass splitting between the heavy sterile states is naturally achieved. We review the possibility of generating the observed baryon asymmetry of the universe via leptogenesis where the CP violation comes solely from the low-energy CP phases. In addition, we study the effect of texture zero in the Dirac mass matrix on the parameter space of the model for successful resonant leptogenesis.

The nature of the highly dense matter inside the supernova remnant compact star is not constrained by terrestrial experiments and hence modeled phenomenologically to accommodate the astrophysical observations from compact stars. The observable properties of the compact stars are highly sensitive to the microscopic model of highly dense matter. However, some universal relations exist between some macroscopic properties of compact stars independent of the matter model. We study the universal relation including the stars containing exotic degrees of freedom such as heavier strange and non-strange baryons, strange quark matter in normal and superconducting phases, etc. We examine the universal relations for quantities moment of inertia - tidal love number - quadrupole moment. We also study the correlation of non-radial f-mode and p-mode frequencies with stellar properties. We find the f-mode frequency observes the universal relation with dimensionless tidal deformability but the p-mode frequency does not show a good correlation with stellar properties. The p-mode frequency is sensitive to the composition of the matter. We find that universal relation is also applicable for stars with exotic matter in the core of the star with several models of exotic matter.

The present study entails the augmentation of the $Δ$(54) flavor symmetry model by including the ISS mechanism by two Standard Model Higgs particles, achieved by the inclusion of different flavons. The matrices are discussed numerically in the framework of the $Δ(54)$ flavor model with the ISS mechanism for Majorana neutrinos. We introduced Vector like (VL) fermions and a Weyl fermion, which are gauge singlets in the Standard Model. We restrict the undesirable terms in our Lagrangian using additional symmetry. Due to the addition of additional flavons, the precise tribimaximal neutrino mixing pattern deviates, resulting in the creation of a non-zero reactor angle $θ_{13}$. We found that the atmospheric oscillation parameter ($θ_{23}$) occupies the upper octant under the normal hierarchy situation. We also study the CP violation ($δ_{CP}$) , Jarlskog invariant parameter ($J$), and Neutrinoless double-beta decay parameter ($m_{ee}$) in the parameter space of the normal hierarchy model to see whether they accord with the most recent neutrino observations.

Our analysis involves enhancing the $Δ(54)$ flavor symmetry model with Inverse Seesaw mechanism along with two SM Higgs through the incorporation of distinct flavons. Additionally, we introduce supplementary $Z_2\otimes Z_3 \otimes Z_4$ symmetries to eliminate any undesirable components within our investigation. The exact tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing pattern undergoes a deviation as a result of the incorporation of extra flavons, leading to the emergence of a non-zero reactor angle $θ_{13}$ that aligns with the latest experimental findings. It was found that for our model the atmospheric oscillation parameter occupies the lower octant for normal hierarchy case. We also examine the parameter space of the model for normal hierarchy to explore the Dirac CP ($δ_{CP}$), Jarlskog invariant parameter ($J$) and the Neutrinoless double-beta decay parameter ($m_{ββ}$) and found it in agreement with the neutrino latest data. Compact stars (CS) are stellar remnants of massive stars. Inside CSs the density is so high that matter is in subatomic form composed of nucleons. With increase of density of matter towards the centre of the objects other degrees of freedom like hyperons, heavier non-strange baryons, meson condensates may appear. Not only that at higher densities, the nucleons may get decomposed into quarks and form deconfined strange quark matter (SQM). If it is so then CSs may contain SQM in the core surrounded by nucleonic matter forming hybrid stars (HSs). However, the nature and composition of matter inside CSs can only be inferred from the astrophysical observations of these CSs. Recent astrophysical observations in terms of CS mass-radius (M-R) relation and gravitational wave (GW) observation indicate that the matter should be soft in the intermediate density range and stiff enough at higher density range to attain the maximum possible mass above $2~M_\odot$ which is not compatible with pure hadronic equation of states (EOSs). Consequently, we study the HS properties with different models of SQM and find that within vector bag model considering density dependent bag parameter, the model goes well with the astrophysical observations so far.

A large collection of equations of state (EOSs) built within the covariant density functional (CDF) theory of hadronic matter and allowing for density dependent (DD) couplings is employed to study polar $f$- and $p$- oscillations of cold and hot compact stars. Correlations between oscillation frequencies of cold purely nucleonic neutron stars (NSs), their global parameters as well as properties of nuclear matter (NM) are investigated by considering a set of models from Beznogov and Raduta, [Phys.~Rev.~C 107, 045803 (2023)], where a number of constraints on the saturation properties of NM, pure neutron matter (PNM) and the lower bound of the maximal NS mass were imposed within a Bayesian framework. The roles of finite temperature and exotic particle degrees of freedom, e.g., hyperons, $Δ$-resonances, anti-kaon condensates or a hadron to quark phase transition, are addressed by employing a family of models publicly available on \textsc{CompOSE} and assuming idealized profiles of temperature or entropy per baryon and charge fraction. We find that finite temperature effects reduce the oscillation frequencies of nucleonic stars while the opposite effect is obtained for stars with exotic particle degrees of freedom. When the $Γ$-law is employed to build finite temperature EOSs, errors in estimating oscillation modes frequencies are of the order of 10\% to 30\%, depending on the mass. Throughout this work the Cowling approximation is used.

The updated values of $E_{\text{sym}}$ and $L_{\text{sym}}$ commensurating to the neutron star observable estimations lie exterior to the astrophysical observed range. The higher values of $L_{\text{sym}}$ at $n_0$ deduced from recent PREX-2 data correlates to matter being easily deformable (yielding higher radius values) around intermediate matter densities leading to higher values of $\tildeΛ$ creating a tension between the terrestrial and astrophysical observations. In this study, we exploit this tension to constrain the $Δ$-scalar meson coupling parameter space.

We investigate the source of error in the Thomas-Fermi-von Weizsäcker (TFW) density functional relative to Kohn-Sham density functional theory (DFT). In particular, through numerical studies on a range of materials, for a variety of crystal structures subject to strain and atomic displacements, we find that while the ground state electron density in TFW orbital-free DFT is close to the Kohn-Sham density, the corresponding energy deviates significantly from the Kohn-Sham value. We show that these differences are a consequence of the poor representation of the linear response within the TFW approximation for the electronic kinetic energy, confirming conjectures in the literature. In so doing, we find that the energy computed from a non-self-consistent Kohn-Sham calculation using the TFW electronic ground state density is in very good agreement with that obtained from the fully self-consistent Kohn-Sham solution.

There is a pressing need for a transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy to meet the increasing energy demands and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The Himalayas possess substantial renewable energy potential that can be harnessed through hydropower projects due to its peculiar topographic characteristics and abundant water resources. However, the current exploitation rate is low owing to the predominance of run-of-river hydropower systems to support the power system. The utility-scale storage facility is crucial in the load scenario of an integrated power system to manage diurnal variation, peak demand, and penetration of intermittent energy sources. In this study, we first identify the potential of pumped storage hydropower across Nepal (a central Himalayan country) under multiple configurations by pairing lakes, hydropower projects, rivers, and available flat terrains. We then identify technically feasible pairs from those of potential locations. Infrastructural, environmental, operational, and other technical constraints govern the choice of feasible locations. We find the flat land-to-river configuration most promising than other configurations. Our results provide insight into the potential of pumped storage hydropower and are of practical importance in planning sustainable power systems in the Himalayas and beyond.

Recent observations of several massive pulsars, with masses near and above $2~M_\odot$, point towards the existence of matter at very high densities, compared to normal matter that we are familiar with in our terrestrial world. This leads to the possibility of appearance of exotic degrees of freedom other than nucleons inside the core of the neutrons stars (NS). Another significant property of NSs is the presence of high surface magnetic field, with highest range of the order of $\sim~10^{16}$ G. We study the properties of highly dense matter with the possibility of appearance of heavier strange and non-strange baryons, and kaons in presence of strong magnetic field. We find that the presence of a strong magnetic field stiffens the matter at high density, delaying the kaon appearance and, hence, increasing the maximum attainable mass of NS family.

We present a study of resonant leptogenesis in a radiative seesaw model. We consider the case where two quasi-degenerate right-handed neutrinos realize resonant leptogenesis, and the CP violation necessary to achieve leptogenesis occurs through the CP phases present in the neutrino mixing matrix. A numerical analysis is performed by taking the best-fit values from the current global data for three neutrino mixing angles and two mass-squared differences. We have shown how the predicted value of baryon asymmetry depends on the Dirac and Majorana CP phases. With the particular choice for the mass parameters, this model prefers a normal hierarchy of neutrino masses based on the value of baryon asymmetry predicted. Using the constrained CP phases, we evaluate the effective neutrino mass, which is relevant to the neutrinoless double beta decay.

Sentiment Analysis provides an opportunity to understand the subject(s), especially in the digital age, due to an abundance of public data and effective algorithms. Cybersecurity is a subject where opinions are plentiful and differing in the public domain. This descriptive research analyzed cybersecurity content on Twitter and Reddit to measure its sentiment, positive or negative, or neutral. The data from Twitter and Reddit was amassed via technology-specific APIs during a selected timeframe to create datasets, which were then analyzed individually for their sentiment by VADER, an NLP (Natural Language Processing) algorithm. A random sample of cybersecurity content (ten tweets and posts) was also classified for sentiments by twenty human annotators to evaluate the performance of VADER. Cybersecurity content on Twitter was at least 48% positive, and Reddit was at least 26.5% positive. The positive or neutral content far outweighed negative sentiments across both platforms. When compared to human classification, which was considered the standard or source of truth, VADER produced 60% accuracy for Twitter and 70% for Reddit in assessing the sentiment; in other words, some agreement between algorithm and human classifiers. Overall, the goal was to explore an uninhibited research topic about cybersecurity sentiment

The addition of these three flavons lead to two higher order corrections in the form of two perturbation parameters $ε$ and $ε^\prime$. These corrections yield the deviation from exact tri-bimaximal (TBM) neutrino mixing pattern by producing a non-zero $θ_{13}$ and other neutrino oscillation parameters which are consistent with the latest experimental data. In both the corrections, the neutrino masses are generated via Weinberg operator. The analysis of the perturbation parameters $ε$ and $ε^\prime$, shows that normal hierarchy (NH) and inverted hierarchy (IH) for $ε$ does not change much. However, as the values of $ε^\prime$ increases, $θ_{23}$ occupies the lower octant for NH case. We further investigate the neutrinoless double beta decay parmeter $m_{ββ}$ using the parameter space of the model for both normal and inverted hierarchies of neutrino masses.

We construct the equation of state within the framework of covariant density functional theory implementing coupling schemes of non-linear and density-dependent models with viability of heavier non-nucleonic degrees of freedom. The slope of symmetry energy parameter ($L_{\text{sym}}$) is adjusted following density-dependence of isovector meson coupling to baryons. We find that smaller values of $L_{\text{sym}}$ at saturation favour early appearance of $Δ$-resonances in comparison to hyperons leading to latter's threshold at higher matter densities. In addition, massive neutron star candidates ($\sim 2 M_{\odot}$) along with NICER mass-radius measurements also, set sturdy constraints on the dense matter equation of state. Strict bounds from gravitational waves and massive neutron stars observations constrain the theoretical models of nuclear matter comportment at large density regimes. On the other hand, model parameters providing the highly dense matter response are bounded by nuclear saturation properties. This work analyses coupling parametrizations from two classes based on covariant density functional models: Non-Linear and Density-Dependent schemes. Considering these constraints together, we study possible models and parametrization schemes with the feasibility of exotic degrees of freedom in dense matter which go well with the astrophysical observations as well as the terrestrial laboratory experiments. We show that most parametrizations with non-linear schemes do not support the observations and experiments while density-dependent scheme goes well with both. Astrophysical observations are well explained if the inclusion of heavier non-strange baryons is considered as one fraction of the dense matter particle spectrum.

Minimal seesaw is realized by adding two right-handed neutrinos to the Standard Model. The model predicts Normal Hierarchy (NH) for neutrino masses. We present an S$_4$ flavour symmetric model within a minimal seesaw framework resulting in mass matrices that leads to TM$_1$ mixing. Minimal seesaw is realized by adding two right-handed neutrinos to the Standard Model. The model predicts Normal Hierarchy (NH) for neutrino masses. Using the constrained six-dimensional parameter space, we have evaluated the effective Majorana neutrino mass, which is the parameter of interest in neutrinoless double beta decay experiments. The possibility of explaining baryogenesis via resonant leptogenesis is also examined within the model. A non-zero, resonantly enhanced CP asymmetry generated from the decay of right-handed neutrinos at the TeV scale is studied, considering flavour effects. The evolution of lepton asymmetry is discussed by solving the set of Boltzmann equations numerically and obtain the value of baryon asymmetry to be $\lvert η_B \rvert = 6.3 \times 10^{-10}$.

In this work, we study the effect of (anti)kaon condensation on the properties of compact stars that develop hypernuclear cores with and without an admixture of $Δ$-resonances. We work within the covariant density functional theory with the parameters adjusted to $K$-atomic and kaon-nucleon scattering data in the kaonic sector. The density-dependent parameters in the hyperonic sector are adjusted to the data on $Λ$ and $Ξ^-$ hypernuclei data. The $Δ$-resonance couplings are tuned to the data obtained from their scattering off nuclei and heavy-ion collision experiments. We find that (anti)kaon condensate leads to a softening of the equation of state and lower maximum masses of compact stars than in the absence of the condensate. Both the $K^-$ and $\bar K^0$-condensations occur through a second-order phase transition, which implies no mixed-phase formation. For large values of (anti)kaon and $Δ$-resonance potentials in symmetric nuclear matter, we observe that condensation leads to an extinction of $ Ξ^{-,0}$ hyperons. We also investigate the influence of inclusion of additional hidden-strangeness $σ^{*}$ meson in the functional and find that it leads to a substantial softening of the equation of state and delay in the onset of (anti)kaons.

Recent measurements of neutron star mass from several candidates (PSR J$1614-2230$, PSR J$0348+0432$, MSP J$0740+6620$) set the lower bound on the maximum possible mass for this class of compact objects $\sim 2$ M$_\odot$. Existence of stars with high mass brings the possibility of existence of exotic matter (hyperons, meson condensates) at the core region of the objects. In this work, we investigate the (anti)kaon ($K^-, \bar{K}^0$) condensation in $β-$equilibrated nuclear matter within the framework of covariant density functional theory. The functionals in the kaonic sector are constrained by the experimental studies on $K^-$ atomic, kaon-nucleon scattering data fits. We find that the equation of state softens with the inclusion of (anti)kaon condensates, which lowers the maximum mass of neutron star. In one of the density-independent coupling cases, the $K^-$ condensation is through a first-order phase transition type, which produces a $2$ M$_\odot$ neutron star. The first-order phase transition results in mixed phase region in the inner core of the stars. While $\bar{K}^0$ condensation appears via second-order phase transition for all the models we consider here.

Extreme rainfall is one of the major causes of natural hazards (for example flood, landslide, and debris flow) in the central Himalayan region, Nepal. The performance of strategies to manage these risks relies on the accuracy of quantitative rainfall estimates. Rain gauges have traditionally been used to measure the amount of rainfall at a given location. The point measurement often misrepresents the basin estimates, because of limited density and high spatial variability of rainfall fields across the Himalayas. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), Nepal has planned to install a network of three weather radars that cover the entire country. So far, the first weather radar has been installed in 2019 in the western region of the country. Two more radars will be added for the planned radar network in the near future covering the central and eastern regions of the country. Here we introduce the first installed weather radar in Nepal. We highlight both the opportunities and challenges with the radar observation in the mountainous regions. Radar rainfall estimates across the Himalayas are critical to issue severe weather warnings; forecast floods and landslides; and inform decision making in a broad range of sectors, including water and energy, construction, transportation, and agriculture.

We construct a new equation of state for the baryonic matter under an intense magnetic field within the framework of covariant density functional theory. The composition of matter includes hyperons as well as $ Δ$-resonances. The extension of the nucleonic functional to the hypernuclear sector is constrained by the experimental data on $Λ$ and $Ξ$-hypernuclei. We find that the equation of state stiffens with the inclusion of the magnetic field, which increases the maximum mass of neutron star compared to the non-magnetic case. In addition, the strangeness fraction in the matter is enhanced. Several observables, like the Dirac effective mass, particle abundances, etc show typical oscillatory behavior as a function of the magnetic field and/or density which is traced back to the occupation pattern of Landau levels.

Over the past decades, progress in deployable autonomous flight systems has slowly stagnated. This is reflected in today's production air-crafts, where pilots only enable simple physics-based systems such as autopilot for takeoff, landing, navigation, and terrain/traffic avoidance. Evidently, autonomy has not gained the trust of the community where higher problem complexity and cognitive workload are required. To address trust, we must revisit the process for develo** autonomous capabilities: modeling and simulation. Given the prohibitive costs for live tests, we need to prototype and evaluate autonomous aerial agents in a high fidelity flight simulator with autonomous learning capabilities applicable to flight systems: such a open-source development platform is not available. As a result, we have developed GymFG: GymFG couples and extends a high fidelity, open-source flight simulator and a robust agent learning framework to facilitate learning of more complex tasks. Furthermore, we have demonstrated the use of GymFG to train an autonomous aerial agent using Imitation Learning. With GymFG, we can now deploy innovative ideas to address complex problems and build the trust necessary to move prototypes to the real-world.

We study their basic algebraic properties as well as the hierarchy of gluing-parallel posets generated from singletons by finitary applications of the two compositions. We show that not only series-parallel posets, but also interval orders, which seem more interesting for modelling concurrent and distributed systems, can be generated, but not all posets. Generating posets is also important for constructing free algebras for concurrent semirings and Kleene algebras that allow compositional reasoning about such systems.

The graph image representation is based on 2D image embeddings of adjacency matrices. We use this image representation in two modes. First, as the input to a machine learning algorithm. Second, as the input to a pure transfer learner. Our conclusions from several datasets are that (a) deep learning using our structured image features performs the best compared to benchmark graph kernel and classical features based methods; and, (b) pure transfer learning works effectively with minimum interference from the user and is robust against small data.
