Generative voice technologies are rapidly evolving, offering opportunities for more personalized and inclusive experiences. Traditional one-shot voice conversion (VC) requires a target recording during inference, limiting ease of usage in generating desired voice timbres. Text-guided generation offers an intuitive solution to convert voices to desired "DreamVoices" according to the users' needs. Our paper presents two major contributions to VC technology: (1) DreamVoiceDB, a robust dataset of voice timbre annotations for 900 speakers from VCTK and LibriTTS. (2) Two text-guided VC methods: DreamVC, an end-to-end diffusion-based text-guided VC model; and DreamVG, a versatile text-to-voice generation plugin that can be combined with any one-shot VC models. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed methods trained on the DreamVoiceDB dataset generate voice timbres accurately aligned with the text prompt and achieve high-quality VC.

This report introduces a new family of multimodal models, Gemini, that exhibit remarkable capabilities across image, audio, video, and text understanding. The Gemini family consists of Ultra, Pro, and Nano sizes, suitable for applications ranging from complex reasoning tasks to on-device memory-constrained use-cases. Evaluation on a broad range of benchmarks shows that our most-capable Gemini Ultra model advances the state of the art in 30 of 32 of these benchmarks - notably being the first model to achieve human-expert performance on the well-studied exam benchmark MMLU, and improving the state of the art in every one of the 20 multimodal benchmarks we examined. We believe that the new capabilities of the Gemini family in cross-modal reasoning and language understanding will enable a wide variety of use cases. We discuss our approach toward post-training and deploying Gemini models responsibly to users through services including Gemini, Gemini Advanced, Google AI Studio, and Cloud Vertex AI.

Auditory Attention Decoding (AAD) algorithms play a crucial role in isolating desired sound sources within challenging acoustic environments directly from brain activity. Although recent research has shown promise in AAD using shallow representations such as auditory envelope and spectrogram, there has been limited exploration of deep Self-Supervised (SS) representations on a larger scale. In this study, we undertake a comprehensive investigation into the performance of linear decoders across 12 deep and 2 shallow representations, applied to EEG data from multiple studies spanning 57 subjects and multiple languages. Our experimental results consistently reveal the superiority of deep features for AAD at decoding background speakers, regardless of the datasets and analysis windows. This result indicates possible nonlinear encoding of unattended signals in the brain that are revealed using deep nonlinear features. Additionally, we analyze the impact of different layers of SS representations and window sizes on AAD performance. These findings underscore the potential for enhancing EEG-based AAD systems through the integration of deep feature representations.

Common target sound extraction (TSE) approaches primarily relied on discriminative approaches in order to separate the target sound while minimizing interference from the unwanted sources, with varying success in separating the target from the background. This study introduces DPM-TSE, a first generative method based on diffusion probabilistic modeling (DPM) for target sound extraction, to achieve both cleaner target renderings as well as improved separability from unwanted sounds. The technique also tackles common background noise issues with DPM by introducing a correction method for noise schedules and sample steps. This approach is evaluated using both objective and subjective quality metrics on the FSD Kaggle 2018 dataset. The results show that DPM-TSE has a significant improvement in perceived quality in terms of target extraction and purity.

This report examines the effectiveness of Chain-of-Thought (CoT) prompting in improving the multi-step reasoning abilities of large language models (LLMs). Inspired by previous studies \cite{Min2022RethinkingWork}, we analyze the impact of three types of CoT prompt perturbations, namely CoT order, CoT values, and CoT operators on the performance of GPT-3 on various tasks. Our findings show that incorrect CoT prompting leads to poor performance on accuracy metrics. Correct values in the CoT is crucial for predicting correct answers. Moreover, incorrect demonstrations, where the CoT operators or the CoT order are wrong, do not affect the performance as drastically when compared to the value based perturbations. This research deepens our understanding of CoT prompting and opens some new questions regarding the capability of LLMs to learn reasoning in context.

The recent advances in virtualization technology have enabled the sharing of computing and networking resources of cloud data centers among multiple users. Virtual Network Embedding (VNE) is highly important and is an integral part of the cloud resource management. The lack of historical knowledge on cloud functioning and inability to foresee the future resource demand are two fundamental shortcomings of the traditional VNE approaches. The consequence of those shortcomings is the inefficient embedding of virtual resources on Substrate Nodes (SNs). On the contrary, application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in VNE is still in the premature stage and needs further investigation. Considering the underlying complexity of VNE that includes numerous parameters, intelligent solutions are required to utilize the cloud resources efficiently via careful selection of appropriate SNs for the VNE. In this paper, Reinforcement Learning based prediction model is designed for the efficient Multi-stage Virtual Network Embedding (MUVINE) among the cloud data centers. The proposed MUVINE scheme is extensively simulated and evaluated against the recent state-of-the-art schemes. The simulation outcomes show that the proposed MUVINE scheme consistently outperforms over the existing schemes and provides the promising results.

This paper presents a neural network (NN) based adaptive feedback regulator to ensure the lateral and longitudinal stability and regulate the desired walking velocity of a lower-limb exoskeleton under model uncertainty. The traditional model-based controllers for lower-limb exoskeletons often fail to stabilize the robot or accurately track the desired behaviors under model uncertainties or external disturbances. This paper proposes a neural network (NN) based online adaptive regulator that compensates for the unknown changes in model parameters and external disturbances by modifying the nominal joint trajectory. A gradient descent-based delta rule is implemented to update the weights of a single layer NN, which can be efficiently performed online by design. We demonstrate the performance of the presented regulator on ATALANTE, a fully actuated lower limb exoskeleton designed for paraplegic patients. The simulation results show that the proposed approach noticeably improves stability and the tracking performance of the system, despite significant changes in model parameters and large adversarial pushes.

Forming perceptual groups and individuating objects in visual scenes is an essential step towards visual intelligence. This ability is thought to arise in the brain from computations implemented by bottom-up, horizontal, and top-down connections between neurons. However, the relative contributions of these connections to perceptual grou** are poorly understood. We address this question by systematically evaluating neural network architectures featuring combinations bottom-up, horizontal, and top-down connections on two synthetic visual tasks, which stress low-level "Gestalt" vs. high-level object cues for perceptual grou**. We show that increasing the difficulty of either task strains learning for networks that rely solely on bottom-up connections. Horizontal connections resolve straining on tasks with Gestalt cues by supporting incremental grou**, whereas top-down connections rescue learning on tasks with high-level object cues by modifying coarse predictions about the position of the target object. Our findings dissociate the computational roles of bottom-up, horizontal and top-down connectivity, and demonstrate how a model featuring all of these interactions can more flexibly learn to form perceptual groups.

Monocular head pose estimation requires learning a model that computes the intrinsic Euler angles for pose (yaw, pitch, roll) from an input image of human face. Annotating ground truth head pose angles for images in the wild is difficult and requires ad-hoc fitting procedures (which provides only coarse and approximate annotations). This highlights the need for approaches which can train on data captured in controlled environment and generalize on the images in the wild (with varying appearance and illumination of the face). Most present day deep learning approaches which learn a regression function directly on the input images fail to do so. To this end, we propose to use a higher level representation to regress the head pose while using deep learning architectures. More specifically, we use the uncertainty maps in the form of 2D soft localization heatmap images over five facial keypoints, namely left ear, right ear, left eye, right eye and nose, and pass them through an convolutional neural network to regress the head-pose. We show head pose estimation results on two challenging benchmarks BIWI and AFLW and our approach surpasses the state of the art on both the datasets.

Human actions comprise of joint motion of articulated body parts or `gestures'. Human skeleton is intuitively represented as a sparse graph with joints as nodes and natural connections between them as edges. Graph convolutional networks have been used to recognize actions from skeletal videos. We introduce a part-based graph convolutional network (PB-GCN) for this task, inspired by Deformable Part-based Models (DPMs). We divide the skeleton graph into four subgraphs with joints shared across them and learn a recognition model using a part-based graph convolutional network. We show that such a model improves performance of recognition, compared to a model using entire skeleton graph. Instead of using 3D joint coordinates as node features, we show that using relative coordinates and temporal displacements boosts performance. Our model achieves state-of-the-art performance on two challenging benchmark datasets NTURGB+D and HDM05, for skeletal action recognition.

We examine the status of charmonia like states by looking into the behaviour of the energy level differences and regularity in the behaviour of the leptonic decay widths of the excited charmonia states. The spectroscopic states are studied using a phenomenological Martin-like confinement potential and their radial wave functions are employed to compute the di-leptonic decay widths. Their deviations from the expected behaviour provide a clue to consider them as admixtures of the nearby S and D states. The present analysis strongly favour \$$\backslash$psi \$ (3686) as admixture of $c \bar{c}$ (2S) and $c \bar{c}$g (4.1 GeV) hybrid, \$$\backslash$psi \$ (4040) and \$$\backslash$psi \$ (4160) as admixture states of charmonia (3S, 3D) states with mixing angle \$$\backslash$theta \$ = 11$^\circ$ and 45$^\circ$ respectively. We identify Y (4260) as a pure $c \bar{c}$ (4S) state whose leptonic decay is predicted as 0.65 keV. While X(4630) is closer to the $c \bar{c}$ (6S) state. The status of \$$\backslash$psi \$ (4415) is still not clear as it does not fit to be pure or admixture state.

Properties of single beauty baryons ($Σ_{b},Λ_{b}$) are studied based on the quark-diquark structure. The confinement potential is assumed as two body colour coulomb plus power potential with exponent $ν$. We find a strong correlation between the choice of the heavy quark mass parameter ($m_{b}$), strong coupling constant ($α_{s}$) and the potential exponent ($ν$) for getting the experimental mass spilt of $m_{Σ^{*}_{b}}- m_{Σ_{b}}=21.2\pm2.0 $ MeV. The resultant spectroscopic parameters are used for computing magnetic moments, the electromagnetic radiative decay, strong hadronic decay and semileptonic decay widths of $Σ_{b}, Λ_{b}$ systems. Our predictions on the radiative decay width correspond to $Σ^{*0}_{b}\rightarrowΛ_{b}γ$ are in agreement with the QCD sum rule prediction. The light flavour baryons are studied within the quark model using the hyper central description of the three-body system. The confinement potential is assumed as hypercentral coulomb plus power potential ($hCPP_ν$) with power index $ν$. The masses and magnetic moments of light flavour baryons are computed for different power index, $ν$ starting from 0.5 to 1.5. The predicted masses and magnetic moments are found to attain a saturated value with respect to variation in $ν$ beyond the power index $ν>$ 1.0. Further we computed transition magnetic moments and radiative decay width of light flavour baryons. The results are in good agreement with known experimental as well as other theoretical models.
