The use of machine learning algorithms to investigate phase transitions in physical systems is a valuable way to better understand the characteristics of these systems. Neural networks have been used to extract information of phases and phase transitions directly from many-body configurations. However, one limitation of neural networks is that they require the definition of the model architecture and parameters previous to their application, and such determination is itself a difficult problem. In this paper, we investigate for the first time the relationship between the accuracy of neural networks for information of phases and the network configuration (that comprises the architecture and hyperparameters). We formulate the phase analysis as a regression task, address the question of generating data that reflects the different states of the physical system, and evaluate the performance of neural architecture search for this task. After obtaining the optimized architectures, we further implement smart data processing and analytics by means of neuron coverage metrics, assessing the capability of these metrics to estimate phase transitions. Our results identify the neuron coverage metric as promising for detecting phase transitions in physical systems.

A minimal truncated set of the integral Dyson-Schwinger equations, in Minkowski spacetime, that allows to explore QED beyond its perturbative solution is derived for general linear covariant gauges. The minimal set includes the equations for the fermion and photon propagators, the photon-fermion vertex, and the two-photon-two-fermion one-particle-irreducible diagram. If the first three equations are exact, to build a closed set of equations, the two-photon-two-fermion equation is truncated ignoring the contribution of Green functions with large number of external legs. It is shown that the truncated equation for the two-photon-two-fermion vertex reproduces the lowest-order perturbative result in the limit of the small coupling constant. Furthermore, this equation allows to define an iterative procedure to compute higher order corrections in the coupling constant. The Ward-Takahashi identity for the two-photon-two-fermion irreducible vertex is derived and solved in the soft photon limit, where one of the photon momenta vanish, in the low photon momenta limit and for general kinematics. The solution of the Ward-Takahashi identity determines the longitudinal component of the two-photon-two-fermion irreducible vertex, while it is proposed to use the Dyson-Schwinger equation to determine the transverse part of this irreducible diagram. The two-photon-two-fermion DSE is solved in heavy fermion limit, considering a simplified version of the QED vertices. The contribution of this irreducible vertex to a low-energy effective photon-fermion vertex is discussed and the fermionic operators that are generated are computed in terms of the fermion propagator functions.

We write down an $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric extension for non-Abelian gauge theories in (1+3) dimensions with a Lorentz- and CPT-violating term of the Carroll-Field-Jackiw type. By including effects of the background (supersymmetric) fermion bilinears that accompany Lorentz-symmetry violation in a Carroll-Field-Jackiw scenario, we investigate both the gauge boson and gaugino dispersion relations in order to compute their respective masses in terms of the background structures. Such results open up a potential path towards a possible mechanism for gaugino-gauge boson conversion, an analogue of the Primakoff effect, induced here not by an external magnetic field, but instead by the (Majorana) fermionic sector of the supersymmetry multiplet in the backstage of the Lorentz-symmetry violation.

We investigate the generation of a gluon screening mass in Yang-Mills theory in the Landau gauge. We propose a gauge-fixing procedure where the Gribov ambiguity is overcome by summing over all Gribov copies with some weight function. This can be formulated in terms of a local field theory involving constrained, nonlinear sigma model fields. We show that a phenomenon of radiative symmetry restoration occurs in this theory, similar to what happens in the standard nonlinear sigma model in two dimensions. This results in a nonzero gluon screening mass, as seen in lattice simulations.

In this work, we study a gauge invariant local non-polynomial composite spinor field in the fundamental representation in order to establish its renormalizability. Similar studies were already done in the case of pure Yang-Mills theories where a local composite gauge invariant vector field was obtained and an invariant renormalizable mass term could be introduced. Our model consists of a massive Euclidean Yang-Mills action with gauge group $SU(N)$ coupled to fermionic matter in the presence of an invariant spinor composite field and quantized in the linear covariant gauges. The whole set of Ward identities is analysed and the algebraic proof of the renormalizability of the model is obtained to all orders in a loop expansion.

In this work we present an algebraic proof of the renormazibility of the super-Yang-Mills action quantized in a generalized supersymmetric version of the maximal Abelian gauge. The main point stated here is that the generalized gauge depends on a set of infinity gauge parameters in order to take into account all possible composite operators emerging from the dimensionless character of the vector superfield. At the end, after the removal of all ultraviolet divergences, it is possible to specify values to the gauge parameters in order to return to the original supersymmetric maximal Abelian gauge, first presented in Phys. Rev. D91, no. 12, 125017 (2015), Ref. [1].

Initially, in the context of classical mechanics, we discuss the introduction of deformed supersymmetric derivatives and their consequence on the deformation of one-dimensional non-linear sigma model. After that, considering a field-theoretical framework, we present an implementation of this superalgebra in two dimensions, such that one of the coordinates is related to the central charge. As an application, in this two-dimensional scenario, we consider topological (bosonic) configurations of a special self-coupled matter model and present a non-trivial fermionic solution.

An all-orders proof of the renormalizability of the theory is given by means of the Algebraic Renormalization procedure. Only three renormalization constants are needed, which can be identified with the coupling constant, gauge field, and gluino renormalization. The non-renormalization theorem of the gluon--ghost--anti-ghost vertex in the Landau gauge is shown to remain valid in $\mathcal{N}=1$ Super Yang-Mills with the presence of the local composite operators. Moreover, due to the non-linear realization of the supersymmetry in the Wess-Zumino gauge, the renormalization factor of the gauge field turns out to be different from that of the gluino.

A fully local setup for both $A_{\min }^{2}$ and $A^{h}_μ$ can be achieved, resulting in a local and BRST invariant action which shares similarities with the Stueckelberg formalism. Though, unlike the case of the Stueckelberg action, the use of $A_{\min }^{2}$ gives rise to an all orders renormalizable action, a feature which will be illustrated by means of a class of covariant gauge fixings which, as much as 't Hooft's $R_ζ$-gauge of spontaneously broken gauge theories, provide a mass for the Stueckelberg field.

We prove the renormalizability to all orders of a refined Gribov-Zwanziger type action in linear covariant gauges in four-dimensional Euclidean space. In this model, the Gribov copies are taken into account by requiring that the Faddeev-Popov operator is positive definite with respect to the transverse component of the gauge field, a procedure which turns out to be analogous to the restriction to the Gribov region in the Landau gauge. The model studied here can be regarded as the first approximation of a more general nonperturbative BRST invariant formulation of the refined Gribov-Zwanziger action in linear covariant gauges obtained recently in [Phys. Rev. D 92, no. 4, 045039 (2015) and arXiv:1605.02610 [hep-th]]. A key ingredient of the set up worked out in [Phys. Rev. D 92, no. 4, 045039 (2015) and arXiv:1605.02610 [hep-th]] is the introduction of a gauge invariant field configuration $\mathbf{A}_μ$ which can be expressed as an infinite non-local series in the starting gauge field $A_μ$. In the present case, we consider the approximation in which only the first term of the series representing $\mathbf{A}_μ$ is considered, corresponding to a pure transverse gauge field. The all order renormalizability of the resulting action gives thus a strong evidence of the renormalizability of the aforementioned more general nonperturbative BRST invariant formulation of the Gribov horizon in linear covariant gauges.
