Sharp estimates of the solutions to B{é}zout's polynomial equation and a corona theorem

Abstract:
In this paper, we obtain estimates for the solutions to the classical B{é}zout equation that are analogous to Carleson's solution to the corona theorem for the bounded analytic functions on the open unit disk. As an application, we extend some results of Luo and obtain a corona theorem for the multipliers of a class of de Branges--Rovnyak spaces.

We present 17 transit light curves of seven known warm-Jupiters observed with the CHaracterising ExOPlanet Satellite (CHEOPS). The light curves have been collected as part of the CHEOPS Guaranteed Time Observation (GTO) program that searches for transit-timing variation (TTV) of warm-Jupiters induced by a possible external perturber to shed light on the evolution path of such planetary systems. We describe the CHEOPS observation process, from the planning to the data analysis. In this work we focused on the timing performance of CHEOPS, the impact of the sampling of the transit phases, and the improvement we can obtain combining multiple transits together. We reached the highest precision on the transit time of about 13-16 s for the brightest target (WASP-38, G = 9.2) in our sample. From the combined analysis of multiple transits of fainter targets with G >= 11 we obtained a timing precision of about 2 min. Additional observations with CHEOPS, covering a longer temporal baseline, will further improve the precision on the transit times and will allow us to detect possible TTV signals induced by an external perturber.

We report the observation of tens of minor lines of the combinational spin-flip Raman scattering in a CdTe:Mn quantum well by means of the high-resolution optical spectroscopy. Classification of this manifold leads to four characteristic values of energy, that correspond to four different types of pair clusters of Mn ions: the nearest, second, third etc. neighbors. All the four energies show up in a single experiment with a very high precision, providing experimental grounds for a deeper understanding of the d-d exchange interactions in a diluted magnetic semiconductor and demonstrating the capacity of the employed method. The major (nearest-neighbor) exchange constant J_1 = 6.15 K was found to consent with its previously reported value. Other detected characteristic energies are as follows: J_{(2)} = 1.80 K, J_{(3)} = 1.39 K, J_{(4)} = 0.81 K.

We generated an event catalog with an automated detection algorithm based on the entire EUVI image database observed with the two Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory STEREO-A and -B spacecraft over the first six years of the mission (2006\,--\,2012). The event catalog includes the heliographic positions of some 20\,000 EUV events, transformed from spacecraft coordinates to Earth coordinates, and information on associated GOES flare events (down to the level of GOES A5-class flares). The 304 \ang\ wavelength turns out to be the most efficient channel for flare detection (79\,%), while the 171 \ang\ (4\,%), 195 \ang\ (10\,%), and the 284 \ang\ channel (7\,%) retrieve substantially fewer flare events, partially due to the suppressing effect of EUV dimming, and partially due to the lower cadence in the later years of the mission. Due to the Sun-circling orbits of STEREO-A and -B, a large number of flares have been detected on the farside of the Sun, invisible from Earth, or seen as partially occulted events. The statistical size distributions of EUV peak fluxes (with a power-law slope of $α_P = 2.5\pm0.2$) and event durations (with a power-law slope of $α_T=2.4\pm0.3$) are found to be consistent with the fractal-diffusive self-organized criticality model. The EUVI event catalog is available on-line \url{http://secchi.lmsal.com/EUVI/euvi__autodetection/euvi__events.txt} and may serve as a comprehensive tool to identify stereoscopically observed flare events for 3D reconstruction and to study occulted flare events.
