Abstract:
New ExoMol line lists AloHa for AlH and AlD are presented improving the previous line lists WYLLoT (Yurchenko et al., MNRAS 479, 1401 (2018)). The revision is motivated by the recent experimental measurements and astrophysical findings involving the highly excited rotational states of AlH in its $A\,^{1}Π-{X}\,^{1}Σ^{+}$ system. A new high-resolution emission spectrum of ten bands from the ${A}\,^{1}Π-{X}\,^{1}Σ^{+}$ system of AlD, in the region $17300 - 32000$ cm$^{-1}$ was recorded with a Fourier transform spectrometer, which probes the predissociative $A\,^1Π$ $v=2$ state. The AlD new line positions are combined with all available experimental data on AlH and AlD to construct a comprehensive set of empirical rovibronic energies of AlH and AlD covering the $X\,^1Σ^+$ and $A\,^1Π$ electronic states using the MARVEL approach. We then refine the spectroscopic model WYLLoT to our experimentally derived energies using the nuclear-motion code Duo and use this fit to produce improved line lists for $^{27}$AlH, $^{27}$AlD and $^{26}$AlH with a better coverage of the rotationally excited states of $A\,^1Π$ in the predissociative energy region. The lifetimes of the predissociative states are estimated and are included in the line list using the new ExoMol data structure, alongside the temperature-dependent continuum contribution to the photo-absorption spectra of AlH. The new line lists are shown to reproduce the experimental spectra of both AlH and AlD well, and to describe the AlH absorption in the recently reported Proxima Cen spectrum, including the strong predissociative line broadening. The line lists are included into the ExoMol database www.exomol.com.

Abstract:
The paper describes profile broadening and peak wavelength variation of diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) measured for 46 lines of sight, probably caused by physical properties of intervening clouds. Full width at half maximum of four studied diffuse bands (5780, 5797, 6196 and 6614 Å) demonstrate strong variability sometimes doubling the features' width. Despite the high magnitude of the effect, our current analysis is restricted to the strongest diffuse bands because the weaker ones require a much higher S/N ratio. The profile broadening in the studied DIBs moves the profile's centers towards longer wavelengths, probably due to the excitation of higher levels of the P branch of the unknown molecular carrier. Moreover, diffuse bands are broader in clouds with abundantly populated vibrationally excited states of the hydrogen molecules, i.e. DIB's broadening correlates with the rotational temperature estimated on H$_2$ $ν$=2 vibrational level. However, objects demonstrating extremely broadened profiles of DIBs are scarce. The extreme peculiarity of DIBs' profiles was detected in Herschel~36. Here we show the gradual growths of the widths of diffuse bands, confirmed in spectra from different instruments.

This paper considers a very special set of a few interstellar features --- broad diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) at 4430, 4882, 5450, 5779 and 6175 ÅÅ. This paper considers a very special set of a few interstellar features --- broad diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) at 4430, 4882, 5450, 5779 and 6175 ÅÅ. The set is small, and measurements of equivalent widths of these DIBs are challenging because of severe stellar, interstellar, and sometimes, also telluric contaminations inside their broad profiles. Nevertheless, we demonstrate that they do correlate pretty tightly (DIBs 4882 and 5450 to a lesser extent though) with other narrower diffuse bands, as well as with the color excess E(B$-$V). The studied broad DIBs correlate well with both interstellar molecule CH and interstellar K{\sc i}, i.e. it is hardly possible to verify whether the environments, facilitating the formation of very broad DIB carriers, are dominated by either molecular or atomic gas as both these species likely occupy the same volume.
