The compound nuclei of interest in the desired ranges are populated using 6 Li based transfer reactions. The proton decay spectrum for each excitation energy bins has been measured. The measured proton spectrum has been reproduced using statistical model calculations with different level density models. A variance minimised approach has been employed for analysing the prediction capability of different level density models. This approach has been converged to Gogny Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov(HFB) microscopic level density model and which is attributed as the most accurate model for the desired nuclei.

The $^6$Li(n,$γ$)$^7$Li cross sections in the neutron energy range of 0.6 to 4 MeV have been measured by the experimental implementation of the direct capture formalism. This was done by measuring the $γ$ transition probability experimentally and accounting for the spin factor by theoretical calculation. The electromagnetic transition probabilities from $^7$Li$^*$ analogous to the initial neutron capture states of $^6$Li$+n$ were measured by populating the J$_i$ states of $^7$Li through $^7$Li($p,p'$)$^7$Li$^*$ reaction. The impact of coupling of resonant states, above neutron separation threshold of $^7$Li, in the neutron capture, is observed from the capture $γ$ spectrum. The measured cross sections were reproduced through {\sc fresco} and Talys-1.95 Direct Capture Calculations.

Measurement of angular distributions and energy spectra of $α$ and deuterons through breakup, transfer and incomplete fusion processes to dis-entangle their relative contributions and to investigate relative importance of breakup-fusion compared to transfer. Inclusive $α$ production cross-sections have been measured for $^6$Li + $^{51}$V system near Coulomb barrier energies. Theoretical calculations for estimation of various reaction channels contributing to $α$ production have been performed with finite range coupled reaction method using \textsc{FRESCO} code. The cross-sections from non-capture breakup (NCBU) ($α$ + \textit{d}) and 1\textit{n}, 1\textit{p}, and 1\textit{d} transfer channels, compound nuclear decay channel and incomplete fusion (ICF) leading to $α$ production were estimated to get the cumulative production cross-sections. Contributions from breakup, transfer and incomplete fusion channels could reproduce the integral direct $α$ production cross-sections and their angular distributions quite well. The direct $α$ production cross-sections are in agreement with other targets. The $α$ production cross-sections are higher compared to the deuteron production. Kinematic analysis of the energy spectra of $α$ particles and deuterons suggest that $α$ particle spectra is dominated by breakp-fusion and deuteron spectra have contribution of breakup and transfer reactions. A systematic study of direct $α$ production with various targets follow a universal behavior on average but noticeable differences are observed for different targets. A ratio of $α$ and deuteron yields for a wide mass range of targets shows a saturation above barrier and an increasing production of $α$ particles relative to deuteron around Coulomb barrier.

Monte carlo simulation has been carried out using MONC code for production routes of $^{225}$Ac for its possible generation using proton accelerators with Thorium-232 and Radium-226 targets. All the calculations has been carried out using global model parameters without adjusting for individual target. The study reveals that proton beam of 20-30MeV energy with 5$μ$A current on radium-226 target can give rise to 1Ci of $^{225}$Ac activity in a week of irradiation. Thorium irradiation at low proton energy produces smaller $^{225}$Ac activity but one can benefit from high current, stable proton accelerators. Proton energy of 100MeV or above with hundreds of $μ$A current can produce reasonable $^{225}$Ac activity for practical use. However, the contamination of other co-produced radio-isotopes is much less at low proton energy hence low energy high current proton accelerators are also viable alternative to generate Actinium-225 radio isotope.

The variances of the fission fragment mass distributions for symmetric fission over a wide range of the fissility of the compound nucleus have been investigated within the frame work of Random Neck Rupture Model (RNRM) proposed by Brosa et. al.,. The shape of the fissioning nucleus is generated using crel=1 in the RNRM model, which results in a smooth and continuous shape of fissioning nucleus. This modified shape of RNRM model has been used to analyse experimental data of mass variances for symmetric mass distributions of 27 systems leading to understanding of scission shape dynamics in a wide region of fissility 0.7-0.95. The neck radius is an important parameter of the RNRM model and this has been varied to fit the experimental mass variances data. The systematics of resulting neck radii are studied of as a function fissility and nuclear potential through γo, the surface energy coefficient. Further average total kinetic energies of fission fragments <TKE> are studied of as a function of fissility and γo parameter. It is observed that the neck radii that fit the experimentally observed variances of the mass distributions fall into two groups and these groups are related to two groups of experimentally observed <TKE>s. Empirical formulae have been obtained for the neck radii for these two groups of fissioning systems. Use of the empirical formulae for neck radii predict the mass variances reasonably well for these systems and it is shown that these empirical neck radii are better estimates than starting with the Rayleigh criterion.16pages,7 figures

Systematics of neutron scattering cross sections on various materials for neutron energies up to several hundred MeV are important for ADSS applications. Ramsauer model is well known and widely applied to understand systematics of neutron nucleus total cross sections. In this work, we examined the role of nuclear effective radius parameter (r$_0$) on Ramsauer model fits of neutron total cross sections. We performed Ramsauer model global analysis of the experimental neutron total cross sections reported by W. P. Abfalterer, F. B. Bateman, {\it et. al.,}, from 20MeV to 550MeV for nuclei ranging from Be to U . The global fit functions which can fit total cross section data over periodic table are provided along with the required global set of parameters. The global fits predict within $\pm 8%$ deviation to data, showing the scope for improvement. It has been observed that a finer adjustment of r$_0$ parameter alone can give very good Ramsauer model description of neutron total scattering data within $\pm 4%$ deviation. The required r$_0$ values for Ramsauer model fits are shown as a function of nuclear mass number and an empirical formula is suggested for r$_0$ values as a function of mass number. In optical model approach for neutron scattering, we have modified the real part of Koning-Deleroche potentails to fit the neutron total cross sections using SCAT2 code. The modified potentails have a different energy dependence beyond 200MeV of neutron energy and fit the total cross sections from Al to Pb.

Gluon radiation is an important mechanism for parton energy loss as the parton traverses the quark gluon plasma (QGP) medium. We studied the gluon emission in QGP using AMY formalism. In the present work, we obtained gluon emission amplitude {\bf F}({\bf h},p,k) function, which is a solution of the integral equations describing gluon radiation including Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal (LPM) effects, using iterations method. We define a new dynamical scale for gluon emission denoted by $x$. The gluon emission rate is obtained by integrating these amplitude function over {\bf h}. We show that these obey a simple scaling in terms of this dynamical variable $x$. We define the gluon emission function $g(x)$ for gluon radiation for the three processes $g\rightarrow gg$, $q\rightarrow gq$ and $g\rightarrow q\bar{q}$. In terms of this $g(x)$ function, the parton energy loss calculations, due to medium induced gluon radiation, may become simplified.

We recently proposed an empirical approach for the Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal (LPM) effects in photon emission from the quark gluon plasma as a function of photon mass. This approach was based on Generalized Emission Functions (GEF) for photon emission, derived at a fixed temperature and strong coupling constant. In the present work, we have extended the LPM calculations for several temperatures and strong coupling strengths. The integral equations for (${\bf \tilde{f}(\tilde{p}_\perp)}$) and ($\tilde{g}({\bf \tilde{p}_\perp})$) are solved by the iterations method for the variable set \{$p_0,q_0,Q^2,T,α_s$\}, considering bremsstrahlung and $\bf aws$ processes. We generalize the dynamical scaling variables, $x_T$, $x_L$, for bremsstrahlung and {\bf aws} processes which are now functions of variables $p_0,q_0,Q^2,T,α_s$. The GEF introduced earlier, $g^b_T$, $g^a_T$, $g^b_L$, $g^a_L$, are also generalized for any temperatures and coupling strengths. From this, the imaginary part of the photon polarization tensor as a function of photon mass and energy can be calculated as a one dimensional integral over these GEF and parton distribution functions in the plasma. However, for phenomenological studies of experimental data, one needs a simple empirical formula without involving parton momentum integrations. Therefore, we present a phenomenological formula for imaginary photon polarization tensor as a function of \{$q_0,Q^2,T,α_s$\} that includes bremsstrahlung and $\bf aws$ mechanisms along with LPM effects.

Variational method has been applied to estimate Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal (LPM) effects on virtual photon emission from the quark gluon plasma as a function of photon mass. The variational method was well tested for the LPM effects in real photon emission by Arnold et. al., For virtual photons, LPM effects arising from multiple scatterings of quarks in the plasma are determined by the integral equations for the transverse vector function (${\bf \tilde{f}(\tilde{p}_\perp)}$) and the longitudinal function ($\tilde{g}({\bf \tilde{p}_\perp})$). We extended the variational method to solve these transverse and longitudinal equations for a variable set \{$p_0,q_0,Q^2$\}, considering bremsstrahlung and $\bf aws$ processes. We solved these equations, also by the self consistent iterations for comparing with the results of variational method. In order to estimate the variational parameter, we obtained empirical fits for the peak positions of the ${\bf p_\perp\cdot\tilde{f}(\tilde{p}_\perp)}$, $p_\perp\tilde{g}({\bf \tilde{p}_\perp})$ distributions from iteration method. We propose that the optimized variational parameter for virtual photon emission is approximately equal to these empirical peak position values. The detailed study showed that the variational method gives reliable results for LPM effects on virtual photon emission for photon virtuality of the order $Q^2/T^2\le 100$. At low $Q^2$, the peak positions for $\tilde{p}_\perp$ distributions of transverse vector functions for virtual photons nearly coincide with the peak positions of corresponding distributions of real photons. We calculated imaginary part of photon retarded polarization tensor as a function of $Q^2/T^2$ using empirical variational parameters.

The Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal effects on photon emission from the quark gluon plasma have been studied as a function of photon mass, at a fixed temperature of the plasma. The integral equations for the transverse vector function (${\bf \tilde{f}(\tilde{p}_\perp)}$) and the longitudinal function ($\tilde{g}({\bf \tilde{p}_\perp})$) consisting of multiple scattering effects are solved by the self consistent iterations method and also by the variational method for the variable set \{$p_0,q_0,Q^2$\}, considering the bremsstrahlung and the $\bf aws$ processes. We define four new dynamical scaling variables, $x^b_T$,$x^a_T$,$x^b_L$,$x^a_L$ for bremsstrahlung and {\bf aws} processes and analyse the transverse and longitudinal components as a function of \{$p_0,q_0,Q^2$\}. We generalize the concept of photon emission function and we define four new emission functions for massive photon emission represented by $g^b_T$, $g^a_T$, $g^b_L$, $g^a_L$. These have been constructed using the exact numerical solutions of the integral equations. These four emission functions have been parameterized by suitable simple empirical fits. In terms of these empirical emission functions, the virtual photon emission from quark gluon plasma reduces to one dimensional integrals that involve folding over the empirical $g^{b,a}_{T,L}$ functions with appropriate quark distribution functions and the kinematic factors. Using this empirical emission functions, we calculated the imaginary part of the photon polarization tensor as a function of photon mass and energy.
