Research Software Engineering is the application of professional software skills to research problems. Those who do this are called Research Software Engineers or RSEs for short. RSEs work closely with researchers in a collaborative fashion rather than just offering a standalone function (c.f. the traditional IT workforce or Librarians working to provide a general set of services to the University community such as research, teaching or administrative functions). It is this overlap with academic researchers that make the RSE and the RSE management a new type of third space professional in the higher education sector. We explore aspects of knowledge, relationships, legitimacies and language in relation to the model constructed by Whitchurch in Reconstructing Identities in Higher Education to explore how these relate to the RSE role and go on to highlight open problems that need resolving to put RSEs on a firmer organisational footing.

Transiting planets provide a unique opportunity to search for unseen additional bodies gravitationally bound to a system. It is possible to detect the motion of the center-of-mass of the observed transiting planet-host star duo due to the gravitational tugs of the unseen bodies from the Roemer delay. Transiting planets provide a unique opportunity to search for unseen additional bodies gravitationally bound to a system. It is possible to detect the motion of the center-of-mass of the observed transiting planet-host star duo due to the gravitational tugs of the unseen bodies from the Roemer delay. In order to achieve the goal, determination of the mid-times of the transits of the planets in high precision and accuracy and correct them for the orbital motion of the Earth is a primary condition. We present transit timing variations and update the ephemeris information of 5 transiting planets; HAT-P-23b, WASP-103b, GJ-1214b, WASP-69b, and KELT-3b within this contribution, based on all the quality transit light curves from amateur and professional observers, converted to Dynamic Barycentric Julian Days (BJD-TDB).

Workshops are used to explore a specific topic, transfer knowledge, solve identified problems or create something new. In funded research projects and other research endeavours, workshops are the mechanism to gather the wider project, community or interested people together around a particular topic. However, natural questions arise: how do we measure the impact of these workshops? Do we know whether they are meeting the goals and objectives we set for them? What indicators should we use? In response to these questions, this paper will outline rules that will improve the measurement of the impact of workshops.
