Observation of $e^+e^- \to p p \bar{p} \bar{n} π^{-} + c.c.$

Abstract: Using data taken at 29 center-of-mass energies between 4.16 and 4.70 GeV with the BESIII detector at the Bei**g Electron Positron Collider corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of approximately 18.8 $\rm fb^{-1}$, the process $e^+e^- \to p p \bar{p} \bar{n} π^{-} + c.c.$ is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of $11.5σ$. The average Born cross sections in the ener… ▽ More Using data taken at 29 center-of-mass energies between 4.16 and 4.70 GeV with the BESIII detector at the Bei**g Electron Positron Collider corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of approximately 18.8 $\rm fb^{-1}$, the process $e^+e^- \to p p \bar{p} \bar{n} π^{-} + c.c.$ is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of $11.5σ$. The average Born cross sections in the energy ranges of (4.160, 4.380) GeV, (4.400, 4.600) GeV and (4.610, 4.700) GeV are measured to be $(21.5\pm5.7\pm1.2)$ fb, $(46.3\pm10.6\pm2.5)$ fb and $(59.0\pm9.4\pm3.2)$ fb, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The line shapes of the $\bar{p}\bar{n}$ and $ppπ^-$ invariant mass spectra are consistent with phase space distributions, indicating that no hexaquark or di-baryon state is observed. △ Less

Search for an axion-like particle in radiative $J/ψ$ decays

Abstract: We search for an axion-like particle (ALP) $a$ through the process $ψ(3686)\rightarrowπ^+π^-J/ψ$, $J/ψ\rightarrowγa$, $a\rightarrowγγ$ in a data sample of $(2.71\pm0.01)\times10^9$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected by the BESIII detector. No significant ALP signal is observed over the expected background, and the upper limits on the branching fraction of the decay $J/ψ\rightarrowγa$ and the ALP-photon co… ▽ More We search for an axion-like particle (ALP) $a$ through the process $ψ(3686)\rightarrowπ^+π^-J/ψ$, $J/ψ\rightarrowγa$, $a\rightarrowγγ$ in a data sample of $(2.71\pm0.01)\times10^9$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected by the BESIII detector. Abstract: We report a search for a heavier partner of the recently observed $Z_{cs}(3985)^{-}$ state, denoted as $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$, in the process $e^{+} e^{-}\rightarrow K^{+}D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}+c.c.$, based on $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at the center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=4.661$, 4.682 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector. The $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$ is of interest as it is expected to be a c… ▽ More We report a search for a heavier partner of the recently observed $Z_{cs}(3985)^{-}$ state, denoted as $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$, in the process $e^{+} e^{-}\rightarrow K^{+}D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}+c.c.$, based on $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at the center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=4.661$, 4.682 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector. The $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$ is of interest as it is expected to be a candidate for a hidden-charm and open-strange tetraquark. A partial-reconstruction technique is used to isolate $K^+$ recoil-mass spectra, which are probed for a potential contribution from $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}\to D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}$ ($c.c.$). We find an excess of $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}\rightarrow D_{s}^{*-}D^{*0}$ ($c.c.$) candidates with a significance of $2.1σ$, after considering systematic uncertainties, at a mass of $(4123.5\pm0.7_\mathrm{stat.}\pm4.7_\mathrm{syst.})\ \mathrm{MeV}/c^{2}$. As the data set is limited in size, the upper limits are evaluated at the 90\% confidence level on the product of the Born cross sections ($σ^{\mathrm{Born}}$) and the branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$) of $Z_{cs}^{\prime-}\rightarrow D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}$, under different assumptions of the $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$ mass from 4.120 to 4.140 MeV and of the width from 10 to 50 MeV at the three center-of-mass energies. The upper limits of $σ^{\rm Born}\cdot\mathcal{B}$ are found to be at the level of $\mathcal{O}(1)$ pb at each energy. Larger data samples are needed to confirm the $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$ state and clarify its nature in the coming years. △ Less

Evidence for $η_c$(2S)$\to\pipieta$ decay

Neglecting contribution of excited $Λ$ states and potential interferences, the mass and width are determined to be ($2356\pm 7\pm17$) MeV/$c^2$ and ($304\pm28\pm54$) MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. △ Less

Abstract: Cross sections for the process $e^{+} e^{-} \to K_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} J/ψ$ at center-of-mass energies from $4.128$ to $4.950$ GeV are measured using data samples with a total integrated luminosity of 21.2 fb$^{-1}$ collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. The $Y(4230)$ state is observed in the energy dependence of the $e^{+} e^{-} \to K_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} J/ψ$ cross sect… ▽ More Cross sections for the process $e^{+} e^{-} \to K_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} J/ψ$ at center-of-mass energies from $4.128$ to $4.950$ GeV are measured using data samples with a total integrated luminosity of 21.2 fb$^{-1}$ collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. The $Y(4230)$ state is observed in the energy dependence of the $e^{+} e^{-} \to K_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} J/ψ$ cross section for the first time with a statistical significance of 26.0$σ$. In addition, an enhancement around $4.710$ GeV, called the $Y(4710)$, is seen with a statistical significance of 4.2$σ$. There is no clear structure around $4.484$ GeV. Using a fit with a coherent sum of three Breit-Wigner functions, we determine the mass and width of the $Y(4230)$ state to be $4226.9 \pm 6.6 \pm 21.9$ MeV/$c^{2}$ and $71.7 \pm 16.2 \pm 31.4$ MeV, respectively, and the mass and width of the $Y(4710)$ state to be $4704.0 \pm 52.3 \pm 69.5$ MeV/$c^{2}$ and $183.2 \pm 114.0 \pm 90.8$ MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. In addition, the average Born cross section ratio of $e^{+} e^{-} \to K_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} J/ψ$ to $e^{+} e^{-} \to K^{+} K^{-} J/ψ$ is measured to be $0.388_{-0.028}^{+0.035}\pm0.016$, or $0.426_{-0.031}^{+0.038}\pm0.018$ if three-body phase space is considered. △ Less

Observations of the Cabibbo-Suppressed decays $Λ_{c}^{+}\to nπ^{+}π^{0}$, $nπ^{+}π^{-}π^{+}$ and the Cabibbo-Favored decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\to nK^{-}π^{+}π^{+}$

Abstract: Using electron-positron annihilation data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 $\rm{{fb}^{-1}}$, collected by the BESIII detector in the energy region between $4600$ MeV and $4699$ MeV, we report the first observations of the Cabibbo-suppressed decays $Λ_c^+\to nπ^+π^0$, $Λ_c^+\to nπ^+π^-π^+$, and the Cabibbo-favored decay $Λ_c^+\to nK^-π^+π^+$ with statistical significances of… ▽ More Using electron-positron annihilation data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 $\rm{{fb}^{-1}}$, collected by the BESIII detector in the energy region between $4600$ MeV and $4699$ MeV, we report the first observations of the Cabibbo-suppressed decays $Λ_c^+\to nπ^+π^0$, $Λ_c^+\to nπ^+π^-π^+$, and the Cabibbo-favored decay $Λ_c^+\to nK^-π^+π^+$ with statistical significances of $7.9σ$, $7.8σ$, and $>10σ$, respectively. The branching fractions of these decays are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrow nπ^{+}π^{0})=(0.64\pm0.09\pm0.02)\%$, $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrow nπ^{+}π^{-}π^{+})=(0.45\pm0.07\pm0.03)\%$, and $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrow nK^{-}π^{+}π^{+})=(1.90\pm0.08\pm0.09)\%$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We find that the branching fraction of the decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrow nπ^{+}π^{0}$ is about one order of magnitude higher than that of $Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrow nπ^{+}$. △ Less

Abstract: Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.3 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies from $4.23$ to $4.70$~GeV with the BESIII detector, we observe the process $e^+e^-\toπ^0π^0ψ_2(3823)$ for the first time with a statistical significance of $6.0σ$. The ratio of average cross sections for $e^+e^-\toπ^0π^0ψ_2(3823)$ over $π^+π^-ψ_2(3823)$ is determined to be… ▽ More Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.3 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies from $4.23$ to $4.70$~GeV with the BESIII detector, we observe the process $e^+e^-\toπ^0π^0ψ_2(3823)$ for the first time with a statistical significance of $6.0σ$. The ratio of average cross sections for $e^+e^-\toπ^0π^0ψ_2(3823)$ over $π^+π^-ψ_2(3823)$ is determined to be $\mathcal{R}=\frac{σ[e^+e^-\toπ^0π^0ψ_2(3823)]}{σ[e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-ψ_2(3823)]}=0.57\pm 0.14\pm0.05$, which is consistent with expectations from isospin symmetry. Here and below, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The mass of the $ψ_2(3823)$ is measured to be $M[ψ_2(3823)]=3824.5\pm 2.4\pm 1.0$~MeV/$c^2$. Abstract: Using $(448.1\pm2.9)\times10^6$ $ ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the decay $ψ(3686)\toΣ^-\barΣ^+$ is observed for the first time with a branching fraction of $(2.82\pm0.04_{\rm stat.}\pm0.08_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-4}$, and the angular parameter $α_{ Σ^-}$ is measured to be $0.96\pm0.09_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.03_{\rm syst.}$. Abstract: We report a search for a dark photon using $14.9$~fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data taken at center-of-mass energies from 4.13 to 4.60~GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII storage ring. Furthermore, the mass dependent analysis reveals that the $K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}π^{0}$ invariant mass spectrum for the pseudoscalar component can be well described with two isoscalar resonant states using relativistic Breit-Wigner model, ${\it i.e.}$, the $η(1405)$ with a mass of $1391.7\pm0.7_{-0.3}^{+11.3}\mathrm{\ Me\kern -0.1em V}/c^2$ and a width of $60.8\pm1.2_{-12.0}^{+5.5}\mathrm{\ Me\kern -0.1em V}$, and the $η(1475)$ with a mass of $1507.6\pm1.6_{-32.2}^{+15.5}\mathrm{\ Me\kern -0.1em V}/c^2$ and a width of $115.8\pm2.4_{-10.9}^{+14.8}\mathrm{\ Me\kern -0.1em V}$. The first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Alternate models for the pseudoscalar component are also tested, but the description of the $K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}π^{0}$ invariant mass spectrum deteriorates significantly. △ Less

This is the first measurement of the electromagnetic Dalitz transition between the $ψ(3686)$ and the $η_c$, which provides new insight into the electromagnetic properties of this decay, and offers new opportunities to measure the absolute branching fractions of $η_c$ decays. △ Less

This measurement is an update of an earlier study exploiting additional tagging modes, including several decay modes involving a $K^0_L$ meson. The branching fractions of the $K^0_L$ modes are determined as input to the analysis in a manner that is independent of any strong phase uncertainty. Using the predominantly $C\!P$-even tag $D\to π^+π^-π^0$ and the ensemble of $C\!P$-odd eigenstate tags, the observable ${\cal A}_{Kπ}^{πππ^0}$ is measured to be $0.130 \pm 0.012 \pm 0.008$. The two asymmetries are sensitive to $r_D^{Kπ} \cos δ_D^{Kπ}$, where $r_D^{Kπ}$ and $δ_D^{Kπ}$ are the ratio of amplitudes and phase difference, respectively, between the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed and Cabibbo-favoured decays. In addition, events containing $D \to K^-π^+$ tagged by $D \to K^0_{S,L} π^+π^-$ are studied in bins of phase space of the three-body decays. This analysis has sensitivity to both $r_D^{Kπ} \cos δ_D^{Kπ}$ and $r_D^{Kπ} \sin δ_D^{Kπ}$. A fit to ${\cal A}_{Kπ}$, ${\cal A}_{Kπ}^{πππ^0}$ and the phase-space distribution of the $D \to K^0_{S,L} π^+π^-$ tags yields $δ_D^{Kπ}= \left( 187.6 {^{+8.9}_{-9.7}}{^{+5.4}_{-6.4}} \right)$ degrees, where external constraints are applied for $r_D^{Kπ}$ and other relevant parameters. Abstract: Using a data sample of $(1.0087\pm0.0044)\times10^{10}$ $J/ψ$ decay events collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.097$ GeV, we present a search for the hyperon semileptonic decay $Ξ^{0}\toΣ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e}$ which violates the $ΔS=ΔQ$ rule. Combining with the world-average value of $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛπ^{+})$, we obtain $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΛK^+)=(6.21\pm0.44\pm0.26\pm0.34)\times 10^{-4}$. Here the first uncertainties are statistical, the second systematic, and the third comes from the uncertainty of the $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛπ^{+}$ branching fraction. This result, which is more precise than previous measurements, does not agree with theoretical predictions, and suggests that non-factorizable contributions have been under-estimated in current models. △ Less

The first resonance we observe has a mass of (4373.1 $\pm$ 4.0 $\pm$ 2.2) MeV/$c^2$ and a width of (146.5 $\pm$ 7.4 $\pm$ 1.3) MeV, in agreement with those of the $Y(4390)$ state; the other resonance has a mass of (4706 $\pm$ 11 $\pm$ 4) MeV/$c^2$, a width of (45 $\pm$ 28 $\pm$ 9) MeV, and a statistical significance of $4.1$ standard deviations ($σ$). This is the first evidence for a vector state at this mass value. The spin-$3$ $D$-wave charmonium state $X(3842)$ is searched for through the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}X(3842)\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}D^{+}D^{-}$ process, and evidence with a significance of $4.2σ$ is found in the data samples with center-of-mass energies from 4.600 to 4.700 GeV. △ Less

Abstract: We present the first search for the semileptonic decay $D_s^+\to π^0 e^+ν_e$ using a data sample of electron-positron collisions recorded with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.178 and 4.226~GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.32~fb$^{-1}$. This decay is expected to be sensitive to $π^0$--$η$ mixing. No significant signal is observed. This decay is expected to be sensitive to $π^0$--$η$ mixing. No significant signal is observed. Abstract: By analyzing $e^+e^-$ annihilation data with an integrated luminosity of $2.93~\rm fb^{-1}$ collected at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt s=$ 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we present the first absolute measurements of the branching fractions of twenty Cabibbo-suppressed hadronic $D^{0(+)}$ decays involving multiple pions. Measurement of the total and leptonic decay widths of the $J/ψ$ resonance with an energy scan method at BESIII

By a simultaneous fit to the measured, center-of-mass energy dependent cross sections of the two processes, the combined quantities $Γ_{ee} Γ_{ee} / Γ_{\rm tot}$ and $Γ_{ee} Γ_{μμ} / Γ_{\rm tot}$ are determined to be ($0.346 \pm 0.009$) and ($0.335 \pm 0.006$) keV, respectively, where $Γ_{ee}$, $Γ_{μμ}$, and $Γ_{\rm tot}$ are the electronic, muonic, and total decay widths of the $J/ψ$ resonance, respectively. Using the resultant $Γ_{ee} Γ_{μμ} / Γ_{\rm tot}$ and $Γ_{ee} Γ_{ee} / Γ_{\rm tot}$, the ratio $Γ_{ee} / Γ_{μμ}$ is calculated to be $1.031 \pm 0.015$, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton universality within about two standard deviations. Assuming lepton universality and using the branching fraction of the $J/ψ$ leptonic decay measured by BESIII in 2013, $Γ_{\rm tot}$ and $Γ_{ll}$ are determined to be ($93.0 \pm 2.1$) and ($5.56 \pm 0.11$) keV, respectively, where $Γ_{ll}$ is the average leptonic decay width of the $J/ψ$ resonance. △ Less

We also measure the $χ_{cJ} \to 3(π^+π^-)$ ($J=0, 1, 2$) decays via $ψ(3686) \to γχ_{cJ}$ transitions. The branching fractions are $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c0} \to 3(π^+π^-)] = (2.080\pm0.006 (\rm stat.)\pm0.068 (\rm syst.))\times10^{-2}$, $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c1} \to 3(π^+π^-)] = (1.092\pm0.004 (\rm stat.)\pm0.035 (\rm syst.))\times10^{-2}$, and $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c2} \to 3(π^+π^-)] = (1.565\pm0.005 (\rm stat.)\pm0.048 (\rm syst.))\times10^{-2}$. △ Less

Two structures, identified as the $Y(4220)$ and the $Y(4320)$ states, are observed in the energy-dependent cross section with a significance larger than $10σ$. The masses and widths of the two structures are determined to be ($M, Γ$) = ($4221.4\pm1.5\pm2.0$ MeV/$c^{2}$, $41.8\pm2.9\pm2.7$ MeV) and ($M, Γ$) = ($4298\pm12\pm26$ MeV/$c^{2}$, $127\pm17\pm10$ MeV), respectively. A small enhancement around 4.5 GeV with a significance about $3σ$, compatible with the $ψ(4415)$, might also indicate the presence of an additional resonance in the spectrum. Abstract: From December 2019 to June 2021, the BESIII experiment collected about 5.85 fb$^{-1}$ of data at center-of-mass energies between 4.61 GeV and 4.95 GeV. This is the highest collision energy BEPCII has reached so far. The accumulated $e^+e^-$ annihilation data samples are useful for studying charmonium(-like) states and charmed-hadron decays. By adopting a novel method of analyzing the production of… ▽ More From December 2019 to June 2021, the BESIII experiment collected about 5.85 fb$^{-1}$ of data at center-of-mass energies between 4.61 GeV and 4.95 GeV. This is the highest collision energy BEPCII has reached so far. The accumulated $e^+e^-$ annihilation data samples are useful for studying charmonium(-like) states and charmed-hadron decays. By adopting a novel method of analyzing the production of $Λ_{c}^{+}\barΛ_{c}^{-}$ pairs in $e^+e^-$ annihilation, the center-of-mass energies are measured with a precision of $\sim$0.6 MeV. Integrated luminosities are measured with a precision of better than 1\% by analyzing the events of large-angle Bhabha scattering. Abstract: Based on 10 billion $J/ψ$ events collected at the BESIII experiment, a search for $CP$ violation in $Λ$ decay is performed in the difference between $CP$-odd decay parameters $α_{-}$ for $Λ\rightarrow pπ^-$ and $α_{+}$ for $\barΛ\rightarrow \bar{p}π^+$ by using the process $e^+e^- \to J/ψ\rightarrow Λ\barΛ$. With a five-dimensional fit to the full angular distributions of the daughter baryon, the… ▽ More Based on 10 billion $J/ψ$ events collected at the BESIII experiment, a search for $CP$ violation in $Λ$ decay is performed in the difference between $CP$-odd decay parameters $α_{-}$ for $Λ\rightarrow pπ^-$ and $α_{+}$ for $\barΛ\rightarrow \bar{p}π^+$ by using the process $e^+e^- \to J/ψ\rightarrow Λ\barΛ$. With a five-dimensional fit to the full angular distributions of the daughter baryon, the most precise values for the decay parameters are determined to be $α_{-} = 0.7519 \pm 0.0036 \pm 0.0024$ and $α_{+} = -0.7559 \pm 0.0036 \pm 0.0030$, respectively. The $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ averaged value of the decay parameter is extracted to be $α_{\rm{avg}} = 0.7542 \pm 0.0010 \pm 0.0024$ with unprecedented accuracy. The $CP$ asymmetry $A_{CP}=(α_{-}+α_{+})/(α_{-}-α_{+})$ is determined to be $-0.0025 \pm 0.0046 \pm 0.0012$, which is one of the most precise measurements in the baryon sector. The reported results for the decay parameter will play an important role in the studies of the polarizations and $CP$ violations for the strange, charmed and beauty baryons. △ Less

Observation of $a_0(1710)^+ \to K_S^0K^+$ in study of the $D_s^+\to K_S^0K^+π^0$ decay

Abstract: Using $e^+e^-$ annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.32 fb$^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.178 GeV and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector, we perform the first amplitude analysis of the decay $D_s^+\to K_S^0K^+π^0$ and determine the relative branching fractions and phases for intermediate processes. Abstract: Using 448 million $ψ(2S)$ events, the spin-singlet $P$-wave charmonium state $h_c$(1$^1P_1$) is studied via the $ψ(2S) \rightarrow π^0 h_c$ decay followed by the $h_c \to γη_c$ transition. The branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}_{\rm Inc}(ψ(2S) \rightarrow π^0h_c) \times \mathcal{B}_{\rm Tag}(h_c \rightarrow γη_c) = (4.22 ^{+0.27}_{-0.26} \pm 0.19) \times 10^{-4}$ , $\mathcal{B}_{\rm Inc}(ψ(2S) \rightarrow π^0h_c) = (7.32 \pm 0.34 \pm 0.41) \times 10^{-4}$, and $\mathcal{B}_{\rm Tag}(h_c \rightarrow γη_c) = (57.66 ^{+3.62}_{-3.50} \pm 0.58)\%$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The $h_c$(1$^1P_1$) mass and width are determined to be $M = (3525.32 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.15)~\rm{MeV}/c^{\rm{2}}$ and ${\mathit Γ} = (0.78 ^{+0.27}_{-0.24} \pm 0.12)~\rm{MeV}$. Using the center of gravity mass of the three $χ_{cJ}$(1$^3 P_J$) mesons ($M(\rm c.o.g.)$), the $1P$ hyperfine mass splitting is estimated to be $Δ_{\rm hyp} = M(h_c) - M(\rm c.o.g.) = (0.03 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.15) ~ \rm{MeV}/c^{\rm{2}}$, which is consistent with the expectation that the $1P$ hyperfine splitting is zero at the lowest-order. △ Less

Observation of the $Y(4230)$ and a new structure in $e^+e^- \rightarrow K^+K^-J/ψ$

Abstract: The cross sections of $e^+e^- \rightarrow K^+K^-J/ψ$ at center-of-mass energies from 4.127 to 4.600~GeV are measured based on 15.6 fb$^{-1}$ data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Two resonant structures are observed in the line shape of the cross sections. The mass and width of the first structure are measured to be ($4225.3\pm2.3\pm21.5$) MeV and (… ▽ More The cross sections of $e^+e^- \rightarrow K^+K^-J/ψ$ at center-of-mass energies from 4.127 to 4.600~GeV are measured based on 15.6 fb$^{-1}$ data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Two resonant structures are observed in the line shape of the cross sections. The mass and width of the first structure are measured to be ($4225.3\pm2.3\pm21.5$) MeV and ($72.9\pm6.1\pm30.8$)~MeV, respectively. They are consistent with those of the established $Y(4230)$. The second structure is observed for the first time with a statistical significance greater than 8$σ$, denoted as $Y(4500)$. Its mass and width are determined to be ($4484.7\pm13.3\pm24.1$) MeV and ($111.1\pm30.1\pm15.2$) MeV, respectively. The first presented uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The product of the electronic partial width with the decay branching fraction $ Γ(Y(4230)\to e^+ e^-) \mathcal{B}(Y(4230) \to K^+ K^- J/ψ)$ is reported. △ Less

Observation of resonance structures in $e^+e^-\to π^+π^-ψ_2(3823)$ and mass measurement of $ψ_2(3823)$

Abstract: Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.3 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies from $4.23$ to $4.70$ GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the product of the $e^+e^-\to π^+π^-ψ_2(3823)$ cross section and the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}[ψ_2(3823)\to γχ_{c1}]$. For the first time, resonance structure is observed in the cross section line shape of… ▽ More Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.3 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies from $4.23$ to $4.70$ GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the product of the $e^+e^-\to π^+π^-ψ_2(3823)$ cross section and the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}[ψ_2(3823)\to γχ_{c1}]$. For the first time, resonance structure is observed in the cross section line shape of $e^+e^-\to π^+π^-ψ_2(3823)$ with significances exceeding $5σ$. A fit to data with two coherent Breit-Wigner resonances modeling the $\sqrt{s}$-dependent cross section yields $M(R_1)=4406.9\pm 17.2\pm 4.5$ MeV/$c^2$, $Γ(R_1)=128.1\pm 37.2\pm 2.3$ MeV, and $M(R_2)=4647.9\pm 8.6\pm 0.8$ MeV/$c^2$, $Γ(R_2)=33.1\pm 18.6\pm 4.1$ MeV. Though weakly disfavored by the data, a single resonance with $M(R)=4417.5\pm26.2\pm3.5$ MeV/$c^2$, $Γ(R)=245\pm48\pm13$ MeV is also possible to interpret data. This observation deepens our understanding of the nature of the vector charmoniumlike states. The mass of the $ψ_2(3823)$ state is measured as $(3823.12\pm 0.43\pm 0.13)$ MeV/$c^2$, which is the most precise measurement to date. △ Less

The cross sections for $e^{+}e^{-}\toφπ^{+}π^{-}$ are consistent with previous results, but with improved precision. To measure the mass and width of the structure observed in the cross section line shape, a combine fit is performed after enhancing the contribution from $φf_{0}(980)$. The fit reveals a structure with the mass of $M=2178\pm20\pm5~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ and the width of $\varGamma=140\pm36\pm16~{\rm MeV}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. △ Less
