Evidence of a structure in $\bar{K}^{0} Λ_{c}^{+}$ consistent with a charged $Ξ_c(2930)^{+}$, and updated measurement of $\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}$ at Belle

Abstract: We report evidence for the charged charmed-strange baryon $Ξ_{c}(2930)^+$ with a signal significance of 3.9$σ$ with systematic errors included. The charged $Ξ_{c}(2930)^+$ is found in its decay to $K_{S}^{0} Λ_{c}^+$ in the substructure of $\bar{B}^{0} \to K^{0}_{S} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}$ decays. We also measure $\cal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}) = [3.99 \pm 0.76(\rm stat.) \pm 0.51(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-4}$ with greater precision than previous experiments, and present the results of a search for the charmonium-like state $Y(4660)$ and its spin partner, $Y_η$, in the $Λ_{c}^{+}\barΛ_{c}^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum. No clear signals of the $Y(4660)$ or $Y_η$ are observed and the 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. Observation of an excited $Ω^-$ baryon

Abstract: Using data recorded with the Belle detector, we observe a new excited hyperon, an $Ω^{*-}$ candidate decaying into $Ξ^0K^-$ and $Ξ^-K^0_S$ with a mass of $2012.4\pm0.7\ {\rm (stat)\pm\ 0.6\ (\rm syst)}\ {\rm MeV}/c^2$ and a width of $Γ=6.4^{+2.5}_{-2.0}\ {\rm(stat)}\pm1.6\ {\rm(syst)}\ {\rm MeV}$. The $Ω^{*-}$ is seen primarily in $Υ(1S), Υ(2S)$, and $Υ(3S)$ decays. Abstract: We report the measurement of gamma gamma to eta_c(1S), eta_c(2S) to eta' pi+ pi- with eta' decays to gamma rho and eta pi+ pi- using 941 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. The products of the two-photon decay width and branching fraction (B) of decays to eta'pi+ pi- are determined to be Γ_{gamma gamma}B = [65.4\pm2.6~(stat.)\pm6.9~(syst.)] eV for eta_c(1S) and [5.6^{+1.2}_{-1.1}~(stat.)\pm1.1~(syst.)] eV for eta_c(2S). A new decay mode for the eta_c(1S) to eta'f_0(2080) with f_0(2080) to pi+ pi- is observed with a statistical significance of 20sigma. The f_0(2080) mass and width are determined to be M = [2083^{+63}_{-66}~(stat.)\pm 32~(syst.)] MeV/c^{2} and Γ= [178^{+60}_{-178}~(stat.) \pm 55~(syst.)] MeV. Search for $B^{-}\toμ^{-}\barν_μ$ Decays at the Belle Experiment

Abstract: We report the result of a search for the decay $B^{-}\toμ^{-}\barν_μ$. The signal events are selected based on the presence of a high momentum muon and the topology of the rest of the event showing properties of a generic $B$-meson decay, as well as the missing energy and momentum being consistent with the hypothesis of a neutrino from the signal decay. We find a 2.4 standard deviation excess abov… ▽ More We report the result of a search for the decay $B^{-}\toμ^{-}\barν_μ$. The signal events are selected based on the presence of a high momentum muon and the topology of the rest of the event showing properties of a generic $B$-meson decay, as well as the missing energy and momentum being consistent with the hypothesis of a neutrino from the signal decay. We find a 2.4 standard deviation excess above background including systematic uncertainties, which corresponds to a branching fraction of ${\cal B}(B^{-}\toμ^{-}\barν_μ) =(6.46 \pm 2.22 \pm 1.60 )\times10^{-7}$ or a frequentist 90% confidence level interval on the $B^{-}\toμ^{-}\barν_μ$ branching fraction of $[2.9, 10.7]\times 10^{-7}$. This result is obtained from a $711\ \text{fb}^{-1}$ data sample that contains $772 \times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs, collected near the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. △ Less

Observation of $Ξ_{c}(2930)^0$ and updated measurement of $B^{-} \to K^{-} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}$ at Belle

Abstract: We report the first observation of the $Ξ_{c}(2930)^0$ charmed-strange baryon with a significance greater than 5$σ$. The $Ξ_{c}(2930)^0$ is found in its decay to $K^- Λ_{c}^+$ in $B^{-} \to K^{-} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}$ decays. The measured mass and width are $[2928.9 \pm 3.0(\rm stat.)^{+0.9}_{-12.0}(\rm syst.)]$ MeV/$c^{2}$ and $[19.5 \pm 8.4(\rm stat.) ^{+5.9}_{-7.9}(\rm syst.)]$ MeV, respecti… ▽ More We report the first observation of the $Ξ_{c}(2930)^0$ charmed-strange baryon with a significance greater than 5$σ$. We also measure ${\cal B}(B^{-} \to K^{-} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}) = [4.80 \pm 0.43(\rm stat.) \pm 0.60(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-4}$ with improved precision, and search for the charmonium-like state $Y(4660)$ and its spin partner, $Y_η$, in the $Λ_{c}^{+}\barΛ_{c}^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum. No clear signals of the $Y(4660)$ nor its spin partner are observed and the 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. Abstract: We report a measurement of the cross section for $K^0_S$ pair production in single-tag two-photon collisions, $γ^* γ\to K^0_S K^0_S$, for $Q^2$ up to 30 GeV$^2$, where $Q^2$ is the negative of the invariant mass squared of the tagged photon. Abstract: We search for $CP$ violation in the charged charm meson decay $D^{+}\toπ^{+}π^{0}$, based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $\rm 921~fb^{-1}$ collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB $e^{+}e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. Abstract: Using the entire Belle data sample of 980 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collisions, we present the results of a study of excited $Ω_c$ charmed baryons in the decay mode $Ξ_c^+K^-$. We show confirmation of four of the five narrow states reported by the LHCb Collaboration: the $Ω_c(3000)$ , $Ω_c(3050)$, $Ω_c(3066)$, and $Ω_c(3090)$. The Michel parameters are measured in an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the kinematic distribution of $e^+e^-\rightarrowτ^+τ^-\rightarrow (π^+π^0 \barν_τ)(\ell^-ν_τ\barν_{\ell}γ)$ $(\ell=e$ or $μ)$. The measured values of the Michel parameters are $\barη = -1.3 \pm 1.5 \pm 0.8$ and $ξκ= 0.5 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.2$, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. This is the first measurement of these parameters. We do not observe significant signals for $X(3872)$ nor $X(3915)$, and set the 90$\%$ confidence level upper limits: ${\cal B}(B^{+} \to X(3872) K^{+} )<2.7 \times 10^{-4}$ and ${\cal B}(B^{+} \to X(3915) K^{+} )<2.9 \times 10^{-4}$. These represent the most stringent upper limit for ${\cal B}(B^{+} \to X(3872) K^{+} )$ to date and the first measurement for ${\cal B}(B^{+} \to X(3915) K^{+} )$. The measured branching fractions for $η_{c}$ and $η_{c}(2S)$ are the most precise to date: ${\cal B}(B^{+} \to η_{c} K^{+} )=(12.3\pm0.8\pm0.7) \times 10^{-4}$ and ${\cal B}(B^{+} \to η_{c}(2S)K^{+}) =(4.9\pm1.1\pm0.3) \times 10^{-4}$ , where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. △ Less

We search for the decay $Υ(1^3D_{1,2})\toηΥ(1S)$, but do not find significant evidence for such a transition. We also measure the initial state radiation production cross sections of the $Υ(2S,3S)$ resonances and we find values compatible with the expected ones. Finally, the analysis of the $Υ(4S)\toπ^+π^-Υ(1S)$ events shows indications for a resonant contribution due to the $f_0(980)$ meson. △ Less

Abstract: We report the first evidence for isospin violation in $B \to K^* γ$ and the first measurement of difference of $CP$ asymmetries between $B^+ \to K^{*+} γ$ and $B^0 \to K^{*0} γ$. This analysis is based on the data sample containing $772 \times 10^6 B\bar{B}$ pairs that was collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric $e^+ e^-$ collider. We find evidence for the isospin violation… ▽ More We report the first evidence for isospin violation in $B \to K^* γ$ and the first measurement of difference of $CP$ asymmetries between $B^+ \to K^{*+} γ$ and $B^0 \to K^{*0} γ$. We find evidence for the isospin violation with a significance of 3.1$σ$, $Δ_{0+} = (+6.2 \pm 1.5 ({\rm stat.}) \pm 0.6 ({\rm syst.}) \pm 1.2 (f_{+-}/f_{00}))$\%, where the third uncertainty is due to the uncertainty on the fraction of $B^+B^-$ to $B^0\bar{B}^0$ production in $Υ(4S)$ decays. The measured value is consistent with predictions of the SM. The result for the difference of $CP$ asymmetries is $ΔA_{CP} = (+2.4 \pm 2.8({\rm stat.}) \pm 0.5({\rm syst.}))$\%, consistent with zero. The measured branching fractions and $CP$ asymmetries for charged and neutral $B$ meson decays are the most precise to date. Abstract: We have searched for the Cabibbo-suppressed decay $Λ_c^+\toφpπ^0$ in $e^+e^-$ collisions using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 915 $\rm fb^{-1}$. The data were collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ asymmetric-energy collider running at or near the $Υ(4S)$ and $Υ(5S)$ resonances. The contribution for nonresonant $Λ_c^+\to K^+K^- pπ^0$ decays is found to be consistent with zero and the corresponding upper limit on its branching fraction is set to be $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to K^+K^-pπ^0)_{\rm NR} <6.3\times10^{-5} $ at 90% confidence level. We also measure the branching fraction for the Cabibbo-favored decay $Λ_c^+\to K^-π^+pπ^0$; the result is $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to K^-π^+pπ^0)= (4.42\pm0.05\, (\rm stat.) \pm 0.12\, (\rm syst.) \pm 0.16\, (\mathcal{B}_{\rm Norm}))\%$, which is the most precise measurement to date. Finally, we have searched for an intermediate hidden-strangeness pentaquark decay $P^+_s\toφp$. We see no evidence for this intermediate decay and set an upper limit on the product branching fraction of ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+\to P^+_s π^0)\times {\cal B}(P^+_s\toφp) <8.3\times 10^{-5}$ at 90% confidence level. △ Less

They are obtained as a function of the total fractional energy and invariant mass for any di-hadron combination in the same hemisphere as defined by the thrust event-shape variable and its axis. We measure the total branching fraction $\mathcal{B}( \bar B^0 \to D^{*\,+} \, \ell^- \, \bar ν_\ell ) = \left(4.95 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.22 \right) \times 10^{-2}$, where the errors are statistical and systematic respectively. The value of $\left|V_{cb} \right|$ is determined to be $\left( 37.4 \pm 1.3 \right) \times 10^{-3}$. Both results are in good agreement with current world averages. △ Less

A Study of the Impact of High Cross Section ILC Processes on the SiD Detector Design

Using the SiD simulation framework, the effect of this pair background on the SiD detector components, especially the vertex detector (VXD) and forward electromagnetic calorimeter (FCAL), is explored. In the case of the FCAL, backgrounds from Bhabha and two-photon processes are also considered. The consequence of several variants of the BeamCal geometry and ILC interaction region configuration are considered for both the vertex detector and BeamCal performance. △ Less

This paper is the first comprehensive presentation of the Higgs physics reach of CLIC operating at three energy stages: sqrt(s) = 350 GeV, 1.4 TeV and 3 TeV. The initial stage of operation allows the study of Higgs boson production in Higgsstrahlung (e+e- -> ZH) and WW-fusion (e+e- -> Hnunu), resulting in precise measurements of the production cross sections, the Higgs total decay width Gamma_H, and model-independent determinations of the Higgs couplings. Operation at sqrt(s) > 1 TeV provides high-statistics samples of Higgs bosons produced through WW-fusion, enabling tight constraints on the Higgs boson couplings. Studies of the rarer processes e+e- -> ttH and e+e- -> HHnunu allow measurements of the top Yukawa coupling and the Higgs boson self-coupling. Measurement of the Higgs boson mass and $e^+e^- \to ZH$ cross section using $Z \to μ^+μ^-$ and $Z \to e^+ e^-$ at the ILC

Abstract: This paper presents a full simulation study of the measurement of the production cross section ($σ_{\mathrm{ZH}}$) of the Higgsstrahlung process $\mathrm{e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow ZH}$ and the Higgs boson mass ($M_{\mathrm{H}}$) at the International Linear Collider (ILC), using events in which a Higgs boson recoils against a Z boson decaying into a pair of muons or electrons. The analysis is carried o… ▽ More This paper presents a full simulation study of the measurement of the production cross section ($σ_{\mathrm{ZH}}$) of the Higgsstrahlung process $\mathrm{e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow ZH}$ and the Higgs boson mass ($M_{\mathrm{H}}$) at the International Linear Collider (ILC), using events in which a Higgs boson recoils against a Z boson decaying into a pair of muons or electrons. The analysis is carried out for three center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ = 250, 350, and 500 GeV, and two beam polarizations $\mathrm{e_{L}^{-}e_{R}^{+}}$ and $\mathrm{e_{R}^{-}e_{L}^{+}}$, for which the polarizations of $\mathrm{e^{-}}$ and $\mathrm{e^{+}}$ are $\left(P\mathrm{e^{-}},P\mathrm{e^{+}}\right)$ =($-$80\%, +30\%) and (+80\%, $-$30\%), respectively. Assuming an integrated luminosity of 250 $\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$ for each beam polarization at $\sqrt{s}$ = 250 GeV, where the best lepton momentum resolution is obtainable, $σ_{\mathrm{ZH}}$ and $M_{\mathrm{H}}$ can be determined with a precision of 2.5\% and 37 MeV for $\mathrm{e_{L}^{-}e_{R}^{+}}$ and 2.9\% and 41 MeV for $\mathrm{e_{R}^{-}e_{L}^{+}}$, respectively. Regarding a 20 year ILC physics program, the expected precisions for the $\mathrm{HZZ}$ coupling and $M_{\mathrm{H}}$ are estimated to be 0.4\% and 14 MeV, respectively. The event selection is designed to optimize the precisions of $σ_{\mathrm{ZH}}$ and $M_{\mathrm{H}}$ while minimizing the bias on the measured $σ_{\mathrm{ZH}}$ due to discrepancy in signal efficiencies among Higgs decay modes. For the first time, model independence has been demonstrated to a sub-percent level for the $σ_{\mathrm{ZH}}$ measurement at each of the three center-of-mass energies. The results presented show the impact of center-of-mass energy and beam polarization on the evaluated precisons and serve as a benchmark for the planning of the ILC run scenario. △ Less

First observation of $γγ\to p \bar{p} K^+ K^-$ and search for exotic baryons in $pK$ systems

Cross sections for $γγ\to p \bar{p} K^+ K^-$, $Λ(1520)^0 \bar{p} K^+ +c.c.$ and the products $σ(γγ\to Θ(1540)^0 \bar{p} K^+ +c.c.)\BR(Θ(1540)^0 \to p K^{-})$ and $σ(γγ\to Θ(1540)^{++} \bar{p} K^- +c.c.)\BR(Θ(1540)^{++}\to p K^{+})$ are measured. We also determine upper limits on the products of the $χ_{c0}$ and $χ_{c2}$ two-photon decay widths and their branching fractions to $p \bar{p} K^+ K^-$ at the 90\% credibility level. △ Less

Search for the decay B0 -> phi gamma

Abstract: We have searched for the decay B0 -> phi gamma using the full Belle data set of 772 x 10^6 BBbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. No signal is observed, and we set an upper limit on the branching fraction of B(B0 -> phi gamma) < 1.0 x 10^{-7} at 90% confidence level. This is the most stringent limit on this decay mode to date. We have searched for the decay B0 -> phi gamma using the full Belle data set of 772 x 10^6 BBbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. No signal is observed, and we set an upper limit on the branching fraction of B(B0 -> phi gamma) < 1.0 x 10^{-7} at 90% confidence level. The obtained $CP$ asymmetries, $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(D^0 \to ρ^0 γ)=+0.056 \pm 0.152 \pm 0.006$, $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(D^0 \to φγ)=-0.094 \pm 0.066 \pm 0.001$, and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(D^0 \to \overline{K}{}^{*0} γ)=-0.003 \pm 0.020 \pm 0.000$, are consistent with no $CP$ violation. We also present an improved measurement of the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(D^0 \to φγ)=(2.76 \pm 0.19 \pm 0.10) \times 10^{-5}$ and $\mathcal{B}(D^0 \to \overline{K}{}^{*0} γ)=(4.66 \pm 0.21 \pm 0.21) \times 10^{-4}$. △ Less
