Stability of the Standard Model vacuum with respect to vacuum tunneling to the Komatsu vacuum in the cMSSM
Abstract: We investigate the stability of the Standard Model vacuum with respect to vacuum tunneling to the Komatsu vacuum, which exists when $m_L^2 + m_{H_u}^2<0$, in the cMSSM. Employing the numerical tools SARAH, SPheno and CosmoTransitions, we scan and constrain the parameter space of the cMSSM up to 10 TeV. Constraining Affleck-Dine Leptogenesis after Thermal Inflation
Abstract: Affleck-Dine leptogenesis after thermal inflation along the $LH_u$ direction requires $m_L^2+m_{H_u}^2 < 0$ up to the AD scale ($|L|\simeq |H_u|\sim 10^9$ GeV). We renormalised this condition from the AD scale to the soft supersymmetry breaking scale by solving the renormalisation group equations perturbatively in the Yukawa couplings to obtain a semi-analytic constraint on the soft supersymmetry… ▽ More

Dam** of an oscillating scalar field indirectly coupled to a thermal bath
Abstract: The dam** process of a homogeneous oscillating scalar field that indirectly interacts with a thermal bath through a mediator field is investigated over a wide range of model parameters. The former case has been extensively studied in the literature by tre… ▽ More

CMB Spectral Distortion Constraints on Thermal Inflation
Abstract: Thermal inflation is a second epoch of exponential expansion at typical energy scales $V^{1/4} \sim 10^{6 \sim 8} \mathrm{GeV}$. Effects of thermal inflation on small scale density perturbations
Abstract: In cosmological scenarios with thermal inflation, extra eras of moduli matter domination, thermal inflation and flaton matter domination exist between primordial inflation and the radiation domination of Big Bang nucleosynthesis. During these eras, cosmological perturbations on small scales can enter and re-exit the horizon, modifying the power spectrum on those scales. The largest modified scale,… ▽ More

Anthropic Likelihood for the Cosmological Constant and the Primordial Density Perturbation Amplitude
Abstract: Weinberg et al. calculated the anthropic likelihood of the cosmological constant using a model assuming that the number of observers is proportional to the total mass of gravitationally collapsed objects, with mass greater than a certain threshold, at t \rightarrow \infty. Abstract: The power spectrum is traditionally parameterized by a truncated Taylor series: $ln P(k) = ln P_* + (n_*-1) ln(k/k_*) + {1/2} n'_* ln^2(k/k_*)$. It is reasonable to truncate the Taylor series if $|n'_* ln(k/k_*)| << |n_*-1|$, but it is not if $|n'_* ln(k/k_*)| \gtrsim |n_*-1|$. We argue that there is no good theoretical reason to prefer $|n'_*| << |n_*-1|$, and show that current observations are… ▽ More

General Solutions for Tunneling of Scalar Fields with Quartic Potentials in de Sitter Space
Abstract: The tunneling rates for scalar fields with quartic potentials in de Sitter space in the limit of no gravitational back reaction are calculated numerically and the results are fitted by analytic formulae.

False Vacuum Inflation with Einstein Gravity
Abstract: We investigate chaotic inflation models with two scalar fields, such that one field (the inflaton) rolls while the other is trapped in a false vacuum state. The false vacuum becomes unstable when the inflaton field falls below some critical value, and a first or second order transition to the true vacuum ensues. Particular attention is paid to Linde's second-order `Hybrid Inflation'; with the fa… ▽ More

A more accurate analytic calculation of the spectrum of cosmological perturbations produced during inflation
Abstract: Formulae are derived for the spectra of scalar curvature perturbations and gravitational waves produced during inflation, special cases of which include power law inflation, natural inflation in the small angle approximation and inflation in the slow roll approximation.
