Emerging Artificial Intelligence Applications in Spatial Transcriptomics Analysis
Abstract: Spatial transcriptomics (ST) has advanced significantly in the last few years. Such advancement comes with the urgent need for novel computational methods to handle the unique challenges of ST data analysis. Many artificial intelligence (AI) methods have been developed to utilize various machine learning and deep learning techniques for computational ST analysis. This review provides a comprehensi… ▽ More

Computational Methods for Single-Cell Multi-Omics Integration and Alignment
Abstract: Recently developed technologies to generate single-cell genomic data have made a revolutionary impact in the field of biology. Multi-omics assays offer even greater opportunities to understand cellular states and biological processes. However, the problem of integrating different -omics data with very different dimensionality and statistical properties remains quite challenging. A growing body of… ▽ More

The Autodidactic Universe
Abstract: We present an approach to cosmology in which the Universe learns its own physical laws. It does so by exploring a landscape of possible laws, which we express as a certain class of matrix models. We discover maps that put each of these matrix models in correspondence with both a gauge/gravity theory and a mathematical model of a learning machine, such as a deep recurrent, cyclic neural network. Th… ▽ More

Scattering Amplitudes and Simple Canonical Forms for Simple Polytopes
Abstract: We provide an efficient recursive formula to compute the canonical forms of arbitrary $d$-dimensional simple polytopes, which are convex polytopes such that every vertex lies precisely on $d$ facets. For illustration purposes, we explicitly derive recursive formulae for the canonical forms of Stokes polytopes, which play a similar role for a theory with quartic interaction as the Associahedron doe… ▽ More

On phase transitions in the Rényi entropies of 2+1-d large-N interacting vector models
Abstract: We consider the reduced density matrix for a disc in the ground state of the interacting fixed points of the large-N O(N) vector model in 2+1 dimensions. Using the map to the free energy on $\mathbb{H}_2 \times S^1$, we show that there is an instability in the Rényi entropies at $n = 1$, in the $N \rightarrow \infty$ limit, indicating a phase transition at or near this Rényi parameter. We close wi… ▽ More

All-loop singularities of scattering amplitudes in massless planar theories
Abstract: In massless quantum field theories the Landau equations are invariant under graph operations familiar from the theory of electrical circuits. Using a theorem on the $Y$-$Δ$ reducibility of planar circuits we prove that the set of first-type Landau singularities of an $n$-particle scattering amplitude in any massless planar theory, in any spacetime dimension $D$, at any finite loop order in perturb… ▽ More

Boundaries of Amplituhedra and NMHV Symbol Alphabets at Two Loops
Abstract: In this sequel to arXiv:1711.11507 we classify the boundaries of amplituhedra relevant for determining the branch points of general two-loop amplitudes in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory. We explain the connection to on-shell diagrams, which serves as a useful cross-check. We determine the branch points of all two-loop NMHV amplitudes by solving the Landau equations for the relevant… ▽ More

All-Helicity Symbol Alphabets from Unwound Amplituhedra
Abstract: We review an algorithm for determining the branch points of general amplitudes in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory from amplituhedra. We demonstrate how to use the recent reformulation of amplituhedra in terms of `sign flips' in order to streamline the application of this algorithm to amplitudes of any helicity. In this way we recover the known branch points of all one-loop amplitude… ▽ More

Landau Singularities from the Amplituhedron
Abstract: We propose a simple geometric algorithm for determining the complete set of branch points of amplitudes in planar N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory directly from the amplituhedron, without resorting to any particular representation in terms of local Feynman integrals. This represents a step towards translating integrands directly into integrals. In particular, the algorithm provides information about th… ▽ More
