Models with vector-like leptons can strongly modify the lepton mass generation mechanism and lead to correlated effects in lepton-Higgs couplings and lepton dipole moments. Here we begin an analysis of higher-order corrections in such models by setting up a renormalization scheme with full on-shell conditions on the lepton self energies, masses and fields. A minimal set of fundamental parameters is renormalized in the $\overline{\text{MS}}$ scheme. We provide a detailed discussion of lepton mixing and redundancies at higher orders, show how the relevant counterterms can be obtained from the renormalization conditions, and determine the $β$-functions corresponding to the scheme. As a first application we calculate the one-loop effective muon--Higgs coupling and analyse its correlation with the muon anomalous magnetic moment $Δa_μ^{\text{VLL}}$. In the interesting case of large masses and opposite-sign coupling, the lowest-order correlation implies a fixed value of $Δa_μ^{\text{VLL}}$ around $22.5\times 10^{-10}$, while the higher-order corrections significantly reduce this value to the interval $(10...18)\times 10^{-10}$.

We focus on the cases where the muon $g-2$ deviation is explained by muon couplings to the top-quark or to the charm-quark or to all up-type quarks. The most significant constraints arise from charged lepton flavor violating decays of the muon and the $τ$ lepton and from the $μ-e$ conversion process. Kaon decays and perturbativity provide further constraints. We find strong constraints on almost all coupling matrix elements, implying a very hierarchical matrix structure, where individual entries must differ by at least 4 orders of magnitude. The $\texttt{FlexibleSUSY}$ program was used with appropriate model files incorporating the parameterization of the couplings in the up-type mass diagonal basis. The expressions for the leptonic observables were generated and cross-checked with the help of the $\texttt{NPointFunctions}$ extension of the $\texttt{FlexibleSUSY}$ program.

With its multiple interfaces and input flexibility, GM2Calc2 is a powerful tool both as a standalone code and as part of a larger code toolchain.

We present an extension of the GM2Calc software to calculate the muon anomalous magnetic moment ($a_μ^{\text{BSM}}$) in the Two-Higgs Doublet Model. The Two-Higgs Doublet Model is one of the simplest and most popular extensions of the Standard Model. It is one of the few single field extensions that can give large contributions to $a_μ^{\text{BSM}}$. It is essential to include two-loop corrections to explain the long standing discrepancy between the Standard Model prediction and the experimental measurement in the Two-Higgs Doublet Model. The new version GM2Calc 2 implements the state of the art two-loop calculation for the general, flavour violating Two-Higgs Doublet Model as well as for the flavour aligned Two-Higgs Doublet Model and the type I, II, X and Y flavour conserving variants. Input parameters can be provided in either the gauge basis or the mass basis, and we provide an easy to use SLHA-like command-line interface to specify these. Using this interface users may also select between Two-Higgs Doublet Model types and choose which contributions to apply. In addition, GM2Calc 2 also provides interfaces in C++, C, Python and Mathematica, to make it easy to interface with other codes.

Now that the Fermilab muon $g-2$ experiment has released the results of its Run-1 data, which agrees with the results of the Brookhaven experiment, one can examine the potential of simple extensions to explain the combined $4.2σ$ discrepancy between the SM prediction and experiment. This proceeding examines a single-, two-, and three-field extension of the standard model and examines their ability to explain the muon $g-2$ anomaly, and where possible, produce a dark matter candidate particle with the observed relic density. This is based on work carried out for Ref. [1]. It is found that one can only explain the $a_μ$ discrepancy whilst avoiding dark matter and collider constraints when the contributions from BSM fields benefit from a chirality flip enhancement. However, in general without small couplings and/or large masses, these models can be heavily constrained by collider and dark matter experiments.

The Fermilab Muon $g-2$ experiment recently reported its first measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment $a_μ^{\textrm{FNAL}}$, which is in full agreement with the previous BNL measurement and pushes the world average deviation $Δa_μ^{2021}$ from the Standard Model to a significance of $4.2σ$. Here we provide an extensive survey of its impact on beyond the Standard Model physics. We use state-of-the-art calculations and a sophisticated set of tools to make predictions for $a_μ$, dark matter and LHC searches in a wide range of simple models with up to three new fields, that represent some of the few ways that large $Δa_μ$ can be explained. In addition for the particularly well motivated Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, we exhaustively cover the scenarios where large $Δa_μ$ can be explained while simultaneously satisfying all relevant data from other experiments. Generally, the $Δa_μ$ result can only be explained by rather small masses and/or large couplings and enhanced chirality flips, which can lead to conflicts with limits from LHC and dark matter experiments. Our results show that the new measurement excludes a large number of models and provides crucial constraints on others. Two-Higgs doublet and leptoquark models provide viable explanations of $a_μ$ only in specific versions and in specific parameter ranges. Among all models with up to three fields, only models with chirality enhancements can accommodate $a_μ$ and dark matter simultaneously. The MSSM can simultaneously explain $a_μ$ and dark matter for Bino-like LSP in several coannihilation regions. Allowing under abundance of the dark matter relic density, the Higgsino- and particularly Wino-like LSP scenarios become promising explanations of the $a_μ$ result.

We review the present status of the Standard Model calculation of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. This is performed in a perturbative expansion in the fine-structure constant $α$ and is broken down into pure QED, electroweak, and hadronic contributions. The pure QED contribution is by far the largest and has been evaluated up to and including $\mathcal{O}(α^5)$ with negligible numerical uncertainty. The electroweak contribution is suppressed by $(m_μ/M_W)^2$ and only shows up at the level of the seventh significant digit. It has been evaluated up to two loops and is known to better than one percent. Hadronic contributions are the most difficult to calculate and are responsible for almost all of the theoretical uncertainty. The leading hadronic contribution appears at $\mathcal{O}(α^2)$ and is due to hadronic vacuum polarization, whereas at $\mathcal{O}(α^3)$ the hadronic light-by-light scattering contribution appears. Given the low characteristic scale of this observable, these contributions have to be calculated with nonperturbative methods, in particular, dispersion relations and the lattice approach to QCD. The largest part of this review is dedicated to a detailed account of recent efforts to improve the calculation of these two contributions with either a data-driven, dispersive approach, or a first-principle, lattice-QCD approach. The final result reads $a_μ^\text{SM}=116\,591\,810(43)\times 10^{-11}$ and is smaller than the Brookhaven measurement by 3.7$σ$. The experimental uncertainty will soon be reduced by up to a factor four by the new experiment currently running at Fermilab, and also by the future J-PARC experiment. This and the prospects to further reduce the theoretical uncertainty in the near future-which are also discussed here-make this quantity one of the most promising places to look for evidence of new physics.

Low-energy lepton observables are discussed in the Minimal R-symmetric Supersymmetric Standard Model. We present comprehensive numerical analyses and the analytic one-loop results for $(g-2)_μ$, $μ\to e γ$, and $μ\to e$ conversion. The interplay between the three observables is investigated as well as the parameter regions with large $g-2$. A striking difference to the MSSM is the absence of $\tanβ$ enhancements; however we find smaller enhancements governed by MRSSM-specific R-Higgsino couplings $λ_d$ and $Λ_d$. As a result we find significant contributions to $g-2$ only in a small parameter space with several SUSY masses below $200$ GeV, compressed spectra and large $λ_d$, $Λ_d$. In this parameter space there is a correlation between all three considered observables. In the parameter region with small $(g-2)_μ$ the SUSY masses can be larger and the correlation between $μ\to eγ$ and $μ\to e$ conversion is weak. Therefore already COMET Phase 1 has a promising sensitivity to the MRSSM.

We present a comprehensive analysis of the muon magnetic moment $a_μ$ in the flavour-aligned two-Higgs doublet model (2HDM) and parameter constraints relevant for $a_μ$. We employ a recent full two-loop computation of $a_μ$ and take into account experimental constraints from Higgs and flavour physics on the parameter space. Large $a_μ$ is possible for light pseudoscalar Higgs A with large Yukawa couplings to leptons, and it can be further increased by large A coupling to top quarks. We investigate in detail the maximum possible Yukawa couplings to leptons and quarks of a light A, finding values of around 50...100 (leptons) and O(0.5) (quarks). As a result we find that an overall maximum of $a_μ$ in the 2HDM of more than $45\times10^{-10}$ is possible in a very small parameter region around M_A=20 GeV. The parameter regions in which the currently observed deviation can be explained are characterized.

We focus on the Aligned ${\text{2HDM}}$, which has general Yukawa couplings and contains the type I, II, X, Y models as special cases. The result is expressed with physical parameters: three Higgs boson masses, Yukawa couplings, two mixing angles, and one quartic potential parameter. We show that the result can be split into several parts, each of which has a simple parameter dependence, and we document their general behavior. Taking into account constraints on parameters, we find that the full ${\text{2HDM}}$ contribution to $a_μ$ can accommodate the current experimental value, and the complete two-loop bosonic contribution can amount to $(2\cdots 4)\times 10^{-10}$, more than the future experimental uncertainty.

We present GM2Calc, a public C++ program for the calculation of MSSM contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $(g-2)_μ$. The code computes $(g-2)_μ$ precisely, by taking into account the latest two-loop corrections and by performing the calculation in a physical on-shell renormalization scheme. In particular the program includes a $\tanβ$ resummation so that it is valid for arbitrarily high values of $\tanβ$, as well as fermion/sfermion-loop corrections which lead to non-decoupling effects from heavy squarks. GM2Calc can be run with a standard SLHA input file, internally converting the input into on-shell parameters. Alternatively, input parameters may be specified directly in this on-shell scheme. In both cases the input file allows one to switch on/off individual contributions to study their relative impact. This paper also provides typical usage examples not only in conjunction with spectrum generators and plotting programs but also as C++ subroutines linked to other programs.

Since the muon mass arises completely from loop effects, large corrections to $a_μ$ are expected in comparison to the usual case with moderately high $\tanβ$. Due to the qualitatively different parameter dependence, the gap between the experimental value and the Standard Model prediction can be filled only in parameter volumes in which a mass hierarchy suppresses the chargino loop in favour of the neutralino contribution. Two such possibilities are found to have either large Higgsino mass or large muon sneutrino mass. Supersymmetric particles even at the TeV scale can lead to the best fit of $a_μ$.

The muon anomalous magnetic moment $a_μ$ is investigated in the MSSM for $\tanβ\to\infty$. This is an attractive example of radiative muon mass generation with completely different qualitative parameter dependence compared to the MSSM with the usual, finite $\tanβ$. The observed, positive difference between the experimental and Standard Model value can only be explained if there are mass splittings, such that bino contributions dominate over wino ones. The two most promising cases are characterized either by large Higgsino mass $μ$ or by large left-handed smuon mass $m_L$. The required mass splittings and the resulting $a_μ^\text{SUSY}$ are studied in detail. It is shown that the current discrepancy in $a_μ$ can be explained even in cases where all SUSY masses are at the TeV scale. The paper also presents useful analytical formulas, approximations for limiting cases, and benchmark points.

These photonic corrections are evaluated exactly, extending a leading-log calculation by Degrassi and Giudice. Compact analytical expressions are provided and the numerical behaviour is discussed. The photonic corrections reduce the SUSY one-loop result by 7...9%. The new terms are typically around ten times smaller than the leading logarithms, but they can be larger and have either sign in cases with large SUSY mass splittings. We also provide details on renormalization and regularization and on how to incorporate the photonic corrections into a full SUSY two-loop calculation.
