Abstract:
In this paper, we study a faithful translation of a two-player quantum Morra game, which builds on previous work by including the classical game as a special case. We propose a natural deformation of the game in the quantum regime in which Alice has a winning advantage, breaking the balance of the classical game. In this paper, we study a faithful translation of a two-player quantum Morra game, which builds on previous work by including the classical game as a special case. We propose a natural deformation of the game in the quantum regime in which Alice has a winning advantage, breaking the balance of the classical game. A Nash equilibrium can be found in some cases by employing a pure strategy, which is impossible in the classical game where a mixed strategy is always required. We prepared our states using photonic qubits on a linear optics setup, with an average deviation less than 2% with respect to the measured outcome probabilities. Finally, we discuss potential applications of the quantum Morra game to the study of quantum information and communication.

Abstract:
In this work we put forward the inclusion of error mitigation routines in the process of training Variational Quantum Circuit (VQC) models. In this work we put forward the inclusion of error mitigation routines in the process of training Variational Quantum Circuit (VQC) models. In detail, we define a Real Time Quantum Error Mitigation (RTQEM) algorithm to assist in fitting functions on quantum chips with VQCs. While state-of-the-art QEM methods cannot address the exponential loss concentration induced by noise in current devices, we demonstrate that our RTQEM routine can enhance VQCs' trainability by reducing the corruption of the loss function. We tested the algorithm by simulating and deploying the fit of a monodimensional $\textit{u}$-Quark Parton Distribution Function (PDF) on a superconducting single-qubit device, and we further analyzed the scalability of the proposed technique by simulating a multidimensional fit with up to 8 qubits.

The Bethe ansatz represents an analytical method enabling the exact solution of numerous models in condensed matter physics and statistical mechanics. When a global symmetry is present, the trial wavefunctions of the Bethe ansatz consist of plane wave superpositions. Previously, it has been shown that the Bethe ansatz can be recast as a deterministic quantum circuit. An analytical derivation of the quantum gates that form the circuit was lacking however. Here we present a comprehensive study of the transformation that brings the Bethe ansatz into a quantum circuit, which leads us to determine the analytical expression of the circuit gates. As a crucial step of the derivation, we present a simple set of diagrammatic rules that define a novel Matrix Product State network building Bethe wavefunctions. Remarkably, this provides a new perspective on the equivalence between the coordinate and algebraic versions of the Bethe ansatz.

The Algebraic Bethe Ansatz (ABA) is a highly successful analytical method used to exactly solve several physical models in both statistical mechanics and condensed-matter physics. Here we bring the ABA into unitary form, for its direct implementation on a quantum computer. This is achieved by distilling the non-unitary $R$ matrices that make up the ABA into unitaries using the QR decomposition. Our algorithm is deterministic and works for both real and complex roots of the Bethe equations. We illustrate our method on the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ XX and XXZ models. We show that using this approach one can efficiently prepare eigenstates of the XX model on a quantum computer with quantum resources that match previous state-of-the-art approaches. We run small-scale error-mitigated implementations on the IBM quantum computers, including the preparation of the ground state for the XX and XXZ models on $4$ sites. Finally, we derive a new form of the Yang-Baxter equation using unitary matrices, and also verify it on a quantum computer.

Error mitigation is likely to be key in obtaining near term quantum advantage. In this work we present one of the first implementations of several Clifford data regression based methods which are used to mitigate the effect of noise in real quantum data. We explore the dynamics of the 1-D Ising model with transverse and longitudinal magnetic fields, highlighting signatures of confinement. We find in general Clifford data regression based techniques are advantageous in comparison with zero-noise extrapolation and obtain quantitative agreement with exact results for systems of 9 qubits with circuit depths of up to 176, involving hundreds of CNOT gates. This is the largest systems investigated so far in a study of this type. We also investigate the two-point correlation function and find the effect of noise on this more complicated observable can be mitigated using Clifford quantum circuit data highlighting the utility of these methods.

Filtered A-infinity structures in complex geometry

Abstract:
We prove a filtered version of the Homotopy Transfer Theorem which gives an A-infinity algebra structure on any page of the spectral sequence associated to a filtered dg-algebra. We then develop various applications to the study of the geometry and topology of complex manifolds, using the Hodge filtration, as well as to complex algebraic varieties, using mixed Hodge theory

Abstract:
An incidence of a graph G is a pair (v, e) where v is a vertex of G and e is an edge of G incident with v. An incidence p-colouring of G is a map** from the set of incidences of G to the set of colours {1,. .. , p} such that every two adjacent incidences receive distinct colours. Incidence colouring has been introduced by Brualdi and Quinn Massey in 1993 and, since then, studied by several authors. In this paper, we introduce and study the list version of incidence colouring. We determine the exact value of -- or upper bounds on -- the incidence choice number of several classes of graphs, namely square grids, Halin graphs, cactuses and Hamiltonian cubic graphs.
