Abstract:
The five-dimensional collective Hamiltonian based on the covariant density functional theory is applied to investigate the observed tidal wave mode in the yrast band of $^{102}$Pd. The energy spectra, the relations between the spin and the rotational frequency, and the ratios of $B(E2)/\mathcal{J}(I)$ in the yrast band are well reproduced by introducing the empirical $ab$ formula for the moments o…

The five-dimensional collective Hamiltonian based on the covariant density functional theory is applied to investigate the observed tidal wave mode in the yrast band of $^{102}$Pd. The energy spectra, the relations between the spin and the rotational frequency, and the ratios of $B(E2)/\mathcal{J}(I)$ in the yrast band are well reproduced by introducing the empirical $ab$ formula for the moments of inertia. This $ab$ formula is related to the fourth order effect of collective momentum in the collective Hamiltonian. It is also shown that the shape evolution in the tidal wave is determined microscopically by the competition between the rotational kinetic energy and the collective potential in the framework of the collective Hamiltonian.

Abstract:
We report the unequivocal demonstration of mid-infrared mode-locked pulses from a semiconductor laser. The train of short pulses was generated by actively modulating the current and hence the optical gain in a small section of an edge-emitting quantum cascade laser (QCL). Pulses with pulse duration at full-width-at-half-maximum of about 3 ps and energy of 0.5 pJ were characterized using a second…

We report the unequivocal demonstration of mid-infrared mode-locked pulses from a semiconductor laser. The train of short pulses was generated by actively modulating the current and hence the optical gain in a small section of an edge-emitting quantum cascade laser (QCL). Pulses with pulse duration at full-width-at-half-maximum of about 3 ps and energy of 0.5 pJ were characterized using a second-order interferometric autocorrelation technique based on a nonlinear quantum well infrared photodetector. The mode-locking dynamics in the QCLs was modelled and simulated based on Maxwell-Bloch equations in an open two-level system. We anticipate our results to be a significant step toward a compact, electrically-pumped source generating ultrashort light pulses in the mid-infrared and terahertz spectral ranges.

Abstract:
With the eta-nucleon (eta N) interaction Lagrangian deduced from chiral perturbation theory, we study the possible eta-mesic nuclei in the framework of relativistic mean-field theory. The eta single-particle energies are sensitive to the eta N scattering length, and increase monotonically with the nucleon number A. The eta single-particle energies are sensitive to the eta N scattering length, and increase monotonically with the nucleon number A. If the scattering length is in the range of a^{eta N}=0.75-1.05 fm and the imaginary potential V_{0}-15 MeV, some discrete states of C, O and Ne eta bound states should be identified in experiments. However, when the scattering length a^{eta N}< 0.5 fm, or the imaginary potential V_{0} > 30 MeV, no discrete eta meson bound states could be observed in experiments.

Abstract:
The radio complex Sgr B region is observed with the X-Ray Imaging Spectrometers (XIS) on board Suzaku. This region exhibits diffuse iron lines at 6.4, 6.7 and 6.9 keV, which are K$α$ lines of Fe \emissiontype{I} (neutral iron), Fe\emissiontype{XXV} (He-like iron) and Fe\emissiontype{XXVI} (H-like iron), respectively. The high energy resolving power of the XIS provides the separate maps of the K-…

The high energy resolving power of the XIS provides the separate maps of the K-shell transition lines from Fe\emissiontype{I} (6.4 keV) and Fe\emissiontype{XXV} (6.7 keV). Although the 6.7 keV line is smoothly distributed over the Sgr B region, a local excess is found near at $(l, b) = (\timeform {0D.61}, \timeform{0D.01})$, possibly a new SNR. The plasma temperature is \textit{kT} $\sim$3 keV and the age is estimated to be around several$\times10^{3}$ years. The 6.4 keV image is clumpy with local excesses nearby Sgr B2 and at $(l, b) = (\timeform{0D.74}, -\timeform{0D.09})$. Like Sgr B2, this excess may be another candidate of an X-ray reflection nebula (XRN).

In this paper, an intuitive mathematical formulation is provided to generalize the residual entanglement for tripartite systems of qubits (Phys. Rev. A \textbf{61}, 052306 (2000)) to the tripartite systems in higher dimension. The spirit lies in the tensor treatment of tripartite pure states (Phys. Rev. A \textbf{72}, 022333 (2005)). A distinct characteristic of the present generalization is that the formulation for higher dimensional systems is invariant under permutation of the subsystems, hence is employed as a criterion to test the existence of genuine tripartite entanglement. Furthermore, the formulation for pure states can be conveniently extended to the case of mixed states by utilizing the kronecker product approximate technique. As applications, we give the analytic approximation of the criterion for weakly mixed tripartite quantum states and consider the existence of genuine tripartite entanglement of some weakly mixed states.
