Control of the Schrödinger equation in $\mathbb{R}^3$: The critical case
Abstract: This article deals with the $\dot{H}^{1}$--level exact controllability for the defocusing critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation in $\mathbb{R}^3$. Firstly, we show the problem under consideration to be well-posed using Strichartz estimates. Moreover, through the Hilbert uniqueness method, we prove the linear Schrödinger equation to be controllable. Finally, we use a perturbation argument and sho… ▽ More

Bilinear optimal control for weak solutions of the Keller-Segel logistic model in $2D$ domains
Abstract: An optimal control problem associated to the Keller-Segel with logistic reaction system will be studied in $2D$ domains. The control acts in a bilinear form only in the chemical equation. The existence of optimal control and a necessary optimality system are deduced. The main novelty is that control can be rather singular and the state (cell density $u$ and the chemical concentration $v$) remain… ▽ More

High order asymptotic inequalities for some dissipative systems
Abstract: We obtain some important fundamental inequalities concerning the long time behavior of high order derivatives for solutions of some dissipative systems in terms of their $L^2$ algebraic decay. Some of these inequalities have not been observed in the literature even for the fundamental Navier-Stokes equations.To illustrate this new approach, we derive bounds for the asymmetric incompressible fluids… ▽ More

Some remarks on the regularity time of Leray solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations
Abstract: In this small note we strengthen the classic result about the regularity time t* of arbitrary Leray solutions to the (incompressible) Navier-Stokes equations in Rn (n = 3, 4), which have the form: t* <= K_{3} nu^{-5} || u(.,0) ||_{L2}^{4} if n = 3, and t* <= K_{4} nu^{-3} || u(.,0) ||_{L2}^{2} if n = 4 (in particular, by reducing the current best known values for the constants K_{3}, K_{4}). Some… ▽ More

Comments: The improvements here obtained are relevant to numerical simulations, as the solutions are known to be smooth for t > t*. In particular, they are useful for numerical investigations of the Clay Millenium problem regarding the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations

On the existence of infinite energy solutions for nonlinear Schrodinger equations
Abstract: We derive new results about existence and uniqueness of local and global solutions for nonlinear Schrodinger equation, including self-similar global solutions. Our analysis is performed in the framework of Marcinkiewicz spaces.

Error bounds for semi-Galerkin approximations of nonhomogeneous incompressible fluids
Abstract: We consider the spectral semi-Galerkin method applied to the nonhomogeneous Navier-Stokes equations. Under certain conditions it is known that the approximate solutions constructed through this method converge to a global strong solution of these equations. Here, we derive an optimal uniform in time error estimate in the $H^1$ norm for the velocity. We also derive an error estimate for the densi… ▽ More

On the resolvent technique for stability of plane Couette flow
Abstract: We discuss the application of the resolvent technique to prove stability of plane Couette flow. Using this technique, we derive a threshold amplitude for perturbations that can lead to turbulence in terms of the Reynolds number. Our main objective is to show exactly how much control one should have over the perturbation to assure stability via this technique.

Resolvent estimates for 2 dimensional perturbations of plane Couette Flow
Abstract: We present results concerning resolvent estimates for the linear operator associated with the system of differential equations governing perturbations of the Couette flow. We prove estimates on the L_2 norm of the resolvent of this operator showing this norm to be proportional to the Reynolds number R for a region of the unstable half plane. For the remaining region, we show that the problem can… ▽ More
