Context. Recently, SDSS J143016.05+230344.4 (J1430+2303) was reported to be a supermassive black hole binary (SMBHB) in the final coalescence phase. It is probably the first SMBHB coalescence event observable in human history. Radio observations of J1430+2303 before and after coalescence will provide a unique diagnosis of the energetics and environment of the SMBHB.
Aims. We explore the radio emission from the galactic nucleus region that is closely related to the current X-ray and optical activities and helps to understand the state of black hole accretion and outflow before coalescence.
Methods. Very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) imaging is the only method that offers milli-arcsecond-level high resolution that can exclude the contamination by diffuse emission on galactic scales. We observed J1430+2303 with the European VLBI Network at 1.7 GHz and with the Very Long Baseline Array at 1.6 and 4.9 GHz in late February and early March 2022.
Results. A compact component is detected in all three VLBI images. It has a brightness temperature of > 10^8 K, an unresolved morphology with a size < 0.8 pc, and a flat radio spectrum. These observational features are inconsistent with large opening-angle outflows or winds, but indicate that this compact component might be a jet or a corona. Nearly 60% of the emission is resolved by VLBI and may come from remnant lobes of previous radio activities, the outer layers of a structured jet, or shocks formed by the disc winds in the narrow line region.
Conclusions. Current VLBI images do not yet show signs of radio outbursts. Our observations provide pre-coalescence radio data that are an important reference for future comparative studies with the post-merger. In particular, further resolving the jet will pave the way for probing the dynamical features associated with inspiralling binary black holes.

We present a detailed study of the optical and NIR emission and absorption line spectrum of the quasar SDSS J163345.22+512748.4. We discovered on the newly acquired NIR spectrum a highly meta-stable neutral helium broad absorption line (BAL) \heiozetz\ with a width of $\sim$ 2000 \kmps\ and a blueshift of $\sim$ 7000 \kmps\ in the velocity space. The BAL system is also significantly detected in \mgii\ and \heiteen. We estimate a column density of $(5.0 \pm 1.7) \times 10^{14}$ cm$^{-2}$ for the HeI*(2~$^3$S) level, and infer an ionization parameter of $U_{A} = 10^{-1.9\pm 0.2}$ for the BAL outflow assuming that the BAL region is thick enough for a full development of an ionization front. The total column density of the BAL outflow is constrained in the range N$\rm _{H}$ $\sim$ 10$^{21}$-10$^{21.4}$ cm$^{-2}$. We also found that the bulk of both MgII and UV FeII, as well as H$α$ broad emission lines (BELs) are blueshifted with a velocity of $\sim$ 2200 \kmps\ with respect to the quasar systemic redshift. We constrain that the blueshifted BEL region has a covering factor $C_{f}\approx 16\%$, a density n$\rm _{H}$ $\sim $ 10$^{10.6}$-10$^{11.3}$ cm$^{-3}$, a column density N$\rm _{H}\gtrsim 10^{23}$ cm$^{-2}$, and an ionization parameter $U_{E}\sim 10^{-2.1}-10^{-1.5}$. The outflow gas is located at $\sim$0.1 pc away from the central ionization source, at a scale comparable to the BLR. A toy kinetic model has been proposed to reproduce the profile of MgII BEL well if assuming a partial obscured axisymmetric geometry of the outflow with a radial velocity as observed by the BALs.

Submillimetre galaxies represent a rapid growth phase of both star formation and massive galaxies. Map** SMGs in galaxy protoclusters provides key insights into where and how these extreme starbursts take place in connections with the assembly of the large-scale structure in the early Universe. We search for SMGs at 850$\,μm$ using JCMT/SCUBA-2 in two massive protoclusters at $z=2.24$, BOSS1244 and BOSS1542, and detect 43 and 54 sources with $S_{850}>4\,$mJy at the $4σ$ level within an effective area of 264$\,$arcmin$^2$, respectively. We construct the intrinsic number counts and find that the abundance of SMGs is $2.0\pm0.3$ and $2.1\pm0.2$ times that of the general fields, confirming that BOSS1244 and BOSS1542 contain a higher fraction of dusty galaxies with strongly enhanced star formation. The volume densities of the SMGs are estimated to be $\sim15-$30 times the average, significantly higher than the overdensity factor ($\sim 6$) traced by H$α$ emission-line galaxies (HAEs). More importantly, we discover a prominent offset between the spatial distributions of the two populations in these two protoclusters -- SMGs are mostly located around the high-density regions of HAEs, and few are seen inside these regions. This finding may have revealed for the first time the occurrence of violent star formation enhancement in the outskirts of the HAE density peaks, likely driven by the boosting of gas supplies and/or starburst triggering events. Meanwhile, the lack of SMGs inside the most overdense regions at $z\sim2$ implies a transition to the environment disfavouring extreme starbursts.

We study the power of multiple choices in online stochastic matching. Despite a long line of research, existing algorithms still only consider two choices of offline neighbors for each online vertex because of the technical challenge in analyzing multiple choices. This paper introduces two approaches for designing and analyzing algorithms that use multiple choices. For unweighted and vertex-weighted matching, we adopt the online correlated selection (OCS) technique into the stochastic setting, and improve the competitive ratios to $0.716$, from $0.711$ and $0.7$ respectively. For edge-weighted matching with free disposal, we propose the Top Half Sampling algorithm. We directly characterize the progress of the whole matching instead of individual vertices, through a differential inequality. This improves the competitive ratio to $0.706$, breaking the $1-\frac{1}{e}$ barrier in this setting for the first time in the literature. Finally, for the harder edge-weighted problem without free disposal, we prove that no algorithms can be $0.703$ competitive, separating this setting from the aforementioned three.

A radio-emitting tidal disruption event (AT2019dsg) is proposed as a likely counterpart of the IceCube neutrino event IC-191001A. In this work we have revisited the {\it Fermi}-LAT data in the direction of the neutrino and confirmed no signal at the site of AT2019dsg. Instead, at the edge of the 90\% confidential level error region of this neutrino there is a $γ$-ray transient source associated with a blazar GB6 J2113+1121. In May 2019, GB6 J2113+1121 was undergoing an unprecedented $γ$-ray flare since the start of the {\it Fermi}-LAT operation, with a variability amplitude about 20-fold. Similar violent flares of GB6 J2113+1121, unobserved before, have been also detected observed in optical bands. Moreover, the blazar remained in a high flux state in the infrared bands when IceCube-191001A arrived, though its $γ$-ray and optical activities has temporally ceased. Motivated by the spatial and temporal coincidence, we suggest that GB6 J2113+1121 is a candidate of the counterpart of IC-191001A. The jet properties of GB6 J2113+1121 are investigated, which are found to be comparable with that of the neutrino-emitting blazars (candidates). A specific analysis of archival IceCube data in this direction and future observations would put a further constraint on the origin of the neutrino.

We present here a detailed analysis of an unusual absorption line system in the quasar SDSS J122826.79+100532.2. The absorption lines in the system have a common redshifted velocity structure starting from $v\sim0$ and extending to $\sim1,000\ \mathrm{km~s}^{-1}$, and are clearly detected in hydrogen Balmer series up to H$ι$, in metastable neutral helium triplet, and in optical lines of excited states of single ionized iron. We estimated that the absorber has a density $n_{\mathrm{H}}\approx10^{8.4}\ \mathrm{cm}^{-3}$ and an ionization parameter $U\approx10^{-1.2}$, thereupon located it at $r_{\mathrm{abs}}\approx1.5$ pc from the central supermassive black hole. The inferred distance is remarkably similar to the evaporation radius for dust grains $r_{\mathrm{evap}}\approx1$ pc in the quasar. Thus the absorber may be a probe of an inflow starting from the dusty torus and feeding the accretion disk. Both the featureless continuum and the broad emission lines are heavily reddened with $E(B-V)\approx0.66$, in contrast to the narrow emission lines whose reddening is negligible. The dusty medium could be located in between the broad and narrow emission line regions, and possibly be associated with a 'cold' narrow absorption line system detected in \ion{Ca}{2} and \ion{Na}{1} doublets nearly unshifted from the quasar systemic velocity. SDSS J122826.79+100532.2 might represent such a rare case that both the inflow and the torus could be tracked by absorption lines.

Supermassive black hole binaries (SMBHs) are a fascinating byproduct of galaxy mergers in the hierarchical universe. In the last stage of their orbital evolution, gravitational wave radiation drives the binary inspiral and produces the loudest siren awaiting to be detected by gravitational wave observatories. Periodically varying emission from active galactic nuclei has been proposed as a powerful approach to probe such systems, although none of the identified candidates are close to their final coalescence such that the observed periods stay constant in time. In this work, we report on the first system with rapid decaying periods revealed by its optical and X-ray light curves, which has decreased from about one year to one month in three years. Together with its optical hydrogen line spectroscopy, we propose that the system is an uneven mass-ratio, highly eccentric SMBH binary which will merge within three years, as predicted by the trajectory evolution model. If the interpretation is true, coordinated, multi-band electromagnetic campaign should be planned for this first binary SMBH merger event observed in human history, together with possible neutrino measurements. Gravitational wave memory from this event may also be detectable by Pulsar Timing Array with additional five-to-ten year observation.

NGC 1566 is a changing look AGN known to exhibit recurrent X-ray outbursts with each lasting for several years. The most recent X-ray outburst is observed on 2018, with a substantial increase of 2--10 keV flux by a factor of ~24 than the historical minimum. We re-analyze the XMM-Newton and NuSTAR observations covering the pre-outburst, outburst and post-outburst epochs, and confirm the discovery of the broad feature in the ~5--7 keV band during the period of outburst that could be interpreted as a relativistic Fe K_alpha emission line. Our analysis suggests that its flux has increased in tandem with the 2--10 keV continuum, making it the second changing look AGN in which the broad Fe K_alpha line responds to the X-ray continuum variability. This behavior strongly supports the idea that X-rays originates in a corona above the accretion disk, and disk reflection produces the relativistic Fe K_alpha line. In addition, we find the response of narrow Fe K_alpha emission line to the changes in the X-ray continuum on a time-scale as short as four months, allowing to put the location of line-emitting region at <0.1 pc, comparable to the size of optical BLR. By comparing to the changing look AGN NGC 2992, the Fe K_alpha variation rate (the ratio of Fe K_alpha variation to luminosity variation) in NGC 1566 appears greater, which could be possibly explained by larger amount of gas or Fe abundance responsible for producing the Fe K_alpha line for the latter. The strength of variable broad Fe K_alpha line as well as the soft X-ray excess emission appears to be correlated with the accretion rate, which could be explained as due to the state transition associated with the changing-look phenomenon.

CSS J102913+404220 is a peculiar narrow line Seyfert 1 galaxy with an energetic nuclear optical outburst. We present a detailed analysis of its multi-wavelength photometric and spectroscopic observations covering a period of decade since outburst. We detect mid-infrared (MIR) flares delayed by about two months relative to the optical outburst, with an extremely high peak luminosity of log(L_4.6um)>44 erg/s. The MIR peak luminosity is at least an order of magnitude higher than any known supernovae explosions, suggesting the optical outburst might be due to a stellar tidal disruption event (TDE). We find late-time X-ray brightening by a factor of >30 with respect to what is observed about 100 days after the optical outburst peak, followed by a flux fading by a factor of ~4 within two weeks, making it one of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs) with extreme variability. Despite the dramatic X-ray variability, there are no coincident strong flux variations in optical, UV and MIR bands. This unusual variability behavior has been seen in other highly accreting AGNs and could be attributed to absorption variability. In this scenario, the decrease in the covering factor of absorber with accretion rate could cause the X-ray brightening, possibly induced by the TDE. Most strikingly, while the UV/optical continuum remains little changes with time, an evident enhancement in the flux of H_alpha broad emission line is observed, about a decade after the nuclear optical outburst, which is an anomalous behavior never seen in any other AGNs. Such an H_alpha anomaly could be explained by the replenishment of gas clouds and excitation within Broad Line Region (BLR) that originates, perhaps from the interaction of outflowing stellar debris with BLR. The results highlight the importance of late-time evolution of TDE that could affect the accreting properties of AGN, as suggested by recent simulations.

Recent observations of AdLIGO and Virgo have shown that the spin measurements in binary black hole (BH) systems are typically small, which is consistent with the predictions by the classical isolated binary evolution channel. In this standard formation channel, the progenitor of the first-born BH is assumed to have efficient angular momentum transport. The BH spins in high-mass X-ray binaries (HMXBs), however, have been found consistently to be extremely high. In order to explain the high BH spins, the inefficient angular momentum transport inside the BH progenitor is required. This requirement, however, is incompatible with the current understanding of conventional efficient angular momentum transport mechanism. We find that this tension can be highly alleviated as long as the hypercritical accretion is allowed. We show that, for a case study of Cygnus X-1, the hypercritical accretion cannot only be a good solution for the inconsistent assumption upon the angular momentum transport within massive stars, but match its other properties reported recently.

Compact star formation appears to be generally common in dusty star-forming galaxies (SFGs). However, its role in the framework set by the scaling relations in galaxy evolution remains to be understood. In this work we follow up on the galaxy sample from the GOODS-ALMA 2.0 survey, an ALMA blind survey at 1.1mm covering a continuous area of 72.42arcmin$^2$ using two array configurations. We derived physical properties, such as star formation rates, gas fractions, depletion timescales, and dust temperatures for the galaxy sample built from the survey. There exists a subset of galaxies that exhibit starburst-like short depletion timescales, but they are located within the scatter of the so-called main sequence of SFGs. These are dubbed starbursts in the main sequence and display the most compact star formation and they are characterized by the shortest depletion timescales, lowest gas fractions, and highest dust temperatures of the galaxy sample, compared to typical SFGs at the same stellar mass and redshift. They are also very massive, accounting for $\sim 60\%$ of the most massive galaxies in the sample ($\log (M_{\rm{*}}/M_{\odot}) > 11.0$). We find trends between the areas of the ongoing star formation regions and the derived physical properties for the sample, unveiling the role of compact star formation as a physical driver of these properties. Starbursts in the main sequence appear to be the extreme cases of these trends. We discuss possible scenarios of galaxy evolution to explain the results drawn from our galaxy sample. Our findings suggest that the star formation rate is sustained in SFGs by gas and star formation compression, kee** them within the main sequence even when their gas fractions are low and they are presumably on the way to quiescence.

As the default protocol for exchanging routing reachability information on the Internet, the abnormal behavior in traffic of Border Gateway Protocols (BGP) is closely related to Internet anomaly events. The BGP anomalous detection model ensures stable routing services on the Internet through its real-time monitoring and alerting capabilities. Previous studies either focused on the feature selection problem or the memory characteristic in data, while ignoring the relationship between features and the precise time correlation in feature (whether it's long or short term dependence). In this paper, we propose a multi-view model for capturing anomalous behaviors from BGP update traffic, in which Seasonal and Trend decomposition using Loess (STL) method is used to reduce the noise in the original time-series data, and Graph Attention Network (GAT) is used to discover feature relationships and time correlations in feature, respectively. Our results outperform the state-of-the-art methods at the anomaly detection task, with the average F1 score up to 96.3% and 93.2% on the balanced and imbalanced datasets respectively. Meanwhile, our model can be extended to classify multiple anomalous and to detect unknown events.

This work focuses on the task of elderly activity recognition, which is a challenging task due to the existence of individual actions and human-object interactions in elderly activities. Thus, we attempt to effectively aggregate the discriminative information of actions and interactions from both RGB videos and skeleton sequences by attentively fusing multi-modal features. Recently, some nonlinear multi-modal fusion approaches are proposed by utilizing nonlinear attention mechanism that is extended from Squeeze-and-Excitation Networks (SENet). Inspired by this, we propose a novel Expansion-Squeeze-Excitation Fusion Network (ESE-FN) to effectively address the problem of elderly activity recognition, which learns modal and channel-wise Expansion-Squeeze-Excitation (ESE) attentions for attentively fusing the multi-modal features in the modal and channel-wise ways. Furthermore, we design a new Multi-modal Loss (ML) to keep the consistency between the single-modal features and the fused multi-modal features by adding the penalty of difference between the minimum prediction losses on single modalities and the prediction loss on the fused modality. Finally, we conduct experiments on a largest-scale elderly activity dataset, i.e., ETRI-Activity3D (including 110,000+ videos, and 50+ categories), to demonstrate that the proposed ESE-FN achieves the best accuracy compared with the state-of-the-art methods. In addition, more extensive experimental results show that the proposed ESE-FN is also comparable to the other methods in terms of normal action recognition task.

There is growing evidence for physical influence between supermassive black holes and their host galaxies. We present a case study of nearby galaxy NGC 7582, for which we find evidence that galactic substructure plays an important role in affecting the collimation of ionized outflows as well as contributing to the heavy active galactic nucleus (AGN) obscuration. This result contrasts with a simple, small-scale AGN torus model, according to which AGN wind collimation may take place inside the torus itself, at subparsec scale. Using 3D spectroscopy with the MUSE instrument, we probe the kinematics of the stellar and ionized gas components as well as the ionization state of the gas from a combination of emission line ratios. We report for the first time a kinematically distinct core (KDC) in NGC 7582, on a scale of ~600pc. This KDC coincides spatially with dust lanes and starbursting complexes previously observed. We interpret it as a circumnuclear ring of stars and dusty, gas-rich material. We obtain a clear view of the outflowing cones over kpc scales, and demonstrate that they are predominantly photoionized by the central engine. We detect the back cone (behind the galaxy), and confirm previous results of a large nuclear obscuration of both the stellar continuum and HII regions. While we tentatively associate the presence of the KDC to a large-scale bar and/or a minor galaxy merger, we stress the importance of gaining a better understanding of the role of galaxy substructure in controlling the fueling, feedback and obscuration of AGN.

We present ALMA 870um and JCMT SCUBA2 850um dust continuum observations of a sample of optically dark and strongly lensed galaxies in the cluster fields. The ALMA and SCUBA2 observations reach a median rms of about 0.11 mJy and 0.44 mJy, respectively, with the latter close to the confusion limit of the data at 850um. This represents one of the most sensitive searches for dust emission in optically dark galaxies. We detect the dust emission in 12 out of 15 galaxies at >3.8 sigma, corresponding to a detection rate of 80 per cent. Thanks to the gravitational lensing, our observations reach a deeper limiting flux than previous surveys in blank fields by a factor of 3. We estimate delensed infrared luminosities in the range log(LIR)=11.5-12.7 Lsun, which correspond to dust-obscured star formation rates (SFRs) of 30 to 520 Msun per year. Stellar population fits to the optical-to-NIR photometric data yield a median redshift z=4.26 and de-lensed stellar mass log(Mstar)=10.78 Msun. They contribute a lensing-corrected star-formation rate density at least an order of magnitude higher than that of equivalently massive UV-selected galaxies at z>3. The results suggest that there is a missing population of massive star-forming galaxies in the early Universe, which may dominate the SFR density at the massive end. Five optically dark galaxies are located within r<50 arcsec in one cluster field, representing a potential overdensity structure that has a physical origin at a confidence level >99.974% from Poisson statistics. Follow-up spectroscopic observations with ALMA and JWST are crucial to confirm whether it is associated with a protocluster at similar redshifts.

Person search in media has seen increasing potential in Internet applications, such as video clip** and character collection. This task is common but overlooked by previous person search works which focus on surveillance scenes. The media scenarios have some different challenges from surveillance scenes. For example, a person may change his clothes frequently. To alleviate this issue, this paper proposes a Unified Detector and Graph Network (UDGNet) for person search in media. UDGNet is the first person search framework to detect and re-identify the human body and head simultaneously. Specifically, it first builds two branches based on a unified network to detect the human body and head, then the detected body and head are used for re-identification. This dual-task approach can significantly enhance discriminative learning. To tackle the cloth-changing issue, UDGNet builds two graphs to explore reliable links among cloth-changing samples and utilizes a graph network to learn better embeddings. This design effectively enhances the robustness of person search to cloth-changing challenges. Besides, we demonstrate that UDGNet can be implemented with both anchor-based and anchor-free person search frameworks and further achieve performance improvement. This paper also contributes a large-scale dataset for Person Search in Media (PSM), which provides both body and head annotations. It is by far the largest dataset for person search in media. Experiments show that UDGNet improves the anchor-free model AlignPS by 12.1% in mAP. Meanwhile, it shows good generalization across surveillance and longterm scenarios. The dataset and code will be available at: https://github.com/shuxjweb/PSM.git.

Infrared echo has proven to be an effective means to discover transient accretion events of supermassive black holes (SMBHs), such as tidal disruption events (TDEs) and changing-look active galactic nuclei (AGNs), in dusty circumnuclear environments. To explore the dusty populations of SMBH transient events, we have constructed a large sample of Mid-infrared Outbursts in Nearby Galaxies (MIRONG) and performed multiwavelength observations. Here we present the results of multiepoch spectroscopic follow-up observations of a subsample of 54 objects spanning a time scale of 4 yr. Emission-line variability was detected in 22 of them with either emergence or enhancement of broad Balmer emission lines in comparison with pre-outburst spectra. Coronal lines, HeIIλ4686 and Bowen line NIIIλ4640 appeared in the spectra of nine, seven and two sources, respectively. These results suggest that MIRONG is a mixed bag of different transient sources. We have tentatively classified them into different subclass according to their spectral evolution and light curves. Two sources have been in a steady high broad Hα flux up to the latest observation and might be turn-on AGNs. Broad lines faded out in the remaining sources, indicating a transient ionizing source ignited by TDE or sporadic gas accretion. Thirty-one sources do not show noticeable spectral change with respect to their pre-outburst spectra. They have a statistically redder MIR color and lower MIR luminosity of the outbursts, which are consistent with heavily obscured events.

There are many challenging problems in the person re-identification (ReID) task, such as the occlusion and scale variation. Existing works usually tried to solve them by employing a one-branch network. This one-branch network needs to be robust to various challenging problems, which makes this network overburdened. This paper proposes to divide-and-conquer the ReID task. For this purpose, we employ several self-supervision operations to simulate different challenging problems and handle each challenging problem using different networks. Concretely, we use the random erasing operation and propose a novel random scaling operation to generate new images with controllable characteristics. A general multi-branch network, including one master branch and two servant branches, is introduced to handle different scenes. These branches learn collaboratively and achieve different perceptive abilities. In this way, the complex scenes in the ReID task are effectively disentangled, and the burden of each branch is relieved. The results from extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performances on three ReID benchmarks and two occluded ReID benchmarks. Ablation study also shows that the proposed scheme and operations significantly improve the performance in various scenes. The code is available at https://git.openi.org.cn/zangxh/LDS.git.

Unsupervised video person re-identification (reID) methods usually depend on global-level features. And many supervised reID methods employed local-level features and achieved significant performance improvements. However, applying local-level features to unsupervised methods may introduce an unstable performance. To improve the performance stability for unsupervised video reID, this paper introduces a general scheme fusing part models and unsupervised learning. In this scheme, the global-level feature is divided into equal local-level feature. A local-aware module is employed to explore the poentials of local-level feature for unsupervised learning. A global-aware module is proposed to overcome the disadvantages of local-level features. Features from these two modules are fused to form a robust feature representation for each input image. This feature representation has the advantages of local-level feature without suffering from its disadvantages. Comprehensive experiments are conducted on three benchmarks, including PRID2011, iLIDS-VID, and DukeMTMC-VideoReID, and the results demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves state-of-the-art performance. Extensive ablation studies demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of proposed scheme, local-aware module and global-aware module. X-ray quasi-periodic eruptions (QPEs) are discovered recently in active galaxies with unknown driven mechanism. Under the assumption that QPEs are caused by star-disc collisions, we adopt full relativistic method and show that both the orbital parameters of the star and also the mass and spinning of the massive black hole (MBH) can be revealed by using the time of arrival (TOA) of the QPEs. By applying the model to the observed QPEs of GSN069, we find that the star is in a near-circular orbit ( $e_\bullet=0.05^{+0.02}_{-0.02}$) with semimajor axis of $\sim 365^{+54}_{-49}r_{\rm g}$ around a MBH with $M_\bullet=3.0^{+0.9}_{-0.6} \times10^5M_\odot$. The alternative short and long recurring time of the QPEs of GSN069 can be well explained by the small eccentricity and the orbital precession of the star. We find that the QPEs of GSN069 are possibly driven by a striped stellar core colliding with accretion disc after partial tidal disruption event around the MBH. For GSN069-like galaxies, if continuous X-ray monitoring of QPE events can be accumulated with uncertainties of TOA $\lesssim 100-150$s, the spin of massive black hole can be constrained by fitting to QPEs. Our results show that the timing of QPEs can provide a unique probe for measuring the spinning of MBH and tests of no-hair theorem.

Radio propagation modeling and prediction is fundamental for modern cellular network planning and optimization. Conventional radio propagation models fall into two categories. Empirical models, based on coarse statistics, are simple and computationally efficient, but are inaccurate due to oversimplification. Deterministic models, such as ray tracing based on physical laws of wave propagation, are more accurate and site specific. But they have higher computational complexity and are inflexible to utilize site information other than traditional global information system (GIS) maps.
In this article we present a novel method to model radio propagation using deep convolutional neural networks and report significantly improved performance compared to conventional models. We also lay down the framework for data-driven modeling of radio propagation and enable future research to utilize rich and unconventional information of the site, e.g. satellite photos, to provide more accurate and flexible models.

GSN 069 is an ultra-soft X-ray active galactic nucleus that previously exhibited a huge X-ray outburst and a subsequent long-term decay. It has recently presented X-ray quasi-periodic eruptions (QPEs). We report the detection of strong nitrogen lines but weak or undetectable carbon lines in its far ultraviolet spectrum. With a detailed photoionization model, we use the C IV/N IV] ratio and other ratios between nitrogen lines to constrain the [C/N] abundance of GSN 069 to be from -3.33 to -1.91. We argue that a partially disrupted red giant star can naturally explain the abnormal C/N abundance in the UV spectrum, while the surviving core orbiting the black hole might produce the QPEs.

We present the spectroscopic and photometric study of five intermediate-luminosity red transients (ILRTs), namely AT 2010dn, AT 2012jc, AT 2013la, AT 2013lb, and AT 2018aes. They share common observational properties and belong to a family of objects similar to the prototypical ILRT SN~2008S. These events have a rise time that is less than 15 days and absolute peak magnitudes of between $-11.5$ and $-14.5$ mag. Their pseudo-bolometric light curves peak in the range $0.5$ - $9.0 \times10^{40}~\mathrm{erg~s}^{-1}$ and their total radiated energies are on the order of (0.3 - 3) $\times$~10$^{47}$~erg. After maximum brightness, the light curves show a monotonic decline or a plateau, resembling those of faint supernovae IIL or IIP, respectively. At late phases, the light curves flatten, roughly following the slope of the $^{56}$Co decay. If the late-time power source is indeed radioactive decay, these transients produce $^{56}$Ni masses on the order of $10^{-4}$ to $10^{-3}$~\msun. The spectral energy distribution of our ILRT sample, extending from the optical to the mid-infrared (MIR) domain, reveals a clear IR excess soon after explosion and non-negligible MIR emission at very late phases. The spectra show prominent H lines in emission with a typical velocity of a few hundred km~s$^{-1}$, along with Ca~II features. In particular, the [Ca~II] $λ$7291,7324 doublet is visible at all times, which is a characteristic feature for this family of transients. The identified progenitor of SN~2008S, which is luminous in archival Spitzer MIR images, suggests an intermediate-mass precursor star embedded in a dusty cocoon. We propose the explosion of a super-asymptotic giant branch star forming an electron-capture supernova as a plausible explanation for these events.

The performance of deep learning based image super-resolution (SR) methods depend on how accurately the paired low and high resolution images for training characterize the sampling process of real cameras. Low and high resolution (LR$\sim$HR) image pairs synthesized by degradation models (e.g., bicubic downsampling) deviate from those in reality; thus the synthetically-trained DCNN SR models work disappointingly when being applied to real-world images. To address this issue, we propose a novel data acquisition process to shoot a large set of LR$\sim$HR image pairs using real cameras. The images are displayed on an ultra-high quality screen and captured at different resolutions. The resulting LR$\sim$HR image pairs can be aligned at very high sub-pixel precision by a novel spatial-frequency dual-domain registration method, and hence they provide more appropriate training data for the learning task of super-resolution. Moreover, the captured HR image and the original digital image offer dual references to strengthen supervised learning. Experimental results show that training a super-resolution DCNN by our LR$\sim$HR dataset achieves higher image quality than training it by other datasets in the literature. Moreover, the proposed screen-capturing data collection process can be automated; it can be carried out for any target camera with ease and low cost, offering a practical way of tailoring the training of a DCNN SR model separately to each of the given cameras.

Precisely understanding the business relationships between Autonomous Systems (ASes) is essential for studying the Internet structure. So far, many inference algorithms have been proposed to classify the AS relationships, which mainly focus on Peer-Peer (P2P) and Provider-Customer (P2C) binary classification and achieved excellent results. However, there are other types of AS relationships in actual scenarios, i.e., the businessbased sibling and structure-based exchange relationships, that were neglected in the previous research. These relationships are usually difficult to be inferred by existing algorithms because there is no discrimination on the designed features compared to the P2P or P2C relationships.
In this paper, we focus on the multi-classification of AS relationships for the first time. We first summarize the differences between AS relationships under the structural and attribute features, and the reasons why multiple relationships are difficult to be inferred. We then introduce new features and propose a Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) framework, AS-GCN, to solve this multi-classification problem under complex scene. The framework takes into account the global network structure and local link features concurrently. The experiments on real Internet topological data validate the effectiveness of our method, i.e., AS-GCN achieves comparable results on the easy binary classification task, and outperforms a series of baselines on the more difficult multi-classification task, with the overall accuracy above 95%.

Cloth-changing person re-identification (re-ID) is a new rising research topic that aims at retrieving pedestrians whose clothes are changed. This task is quite challenging and has not been fully studied to date. Current works mainly focus on body shape or contour sketch, but they are not robust enough due to view and posture variations. The key to this task is to exploit cloth-irrelevant cues. This paper proposes a semantic-guided pixel sampling approach for the cloth-changing person re-ID task. We do not explicitly define which feature to extract but force the model to automatically learn cloth-irrelevant cues. Specifically, we first recognize the pedestrian's upper clothes and pants, then randomly change them by sampling pixels from other pedestrians. The changed samples retain the identity labels but exchange the pixels of clothes or pants among different pedestrians. Besides, we adopt a loss function to constrain the learned features to keep consistent before and after changes. In this way, the model is forced to learn cues that are irrelevant to upper clothes and pants. We conduct extensive experiments on the latest released PRCC dataset. Our method achieved 65.8% on Rank1 accuracy, which outperforms previous methods with a large margin. The code is available at https://github.com/shuxjweb/pixel_sampling.git.

Many RGB-T trackers attempt to attain robust feature representation by utilizing an adaptive weighting scheme (or attention mechanism). Different from these works, we propose a new dynamic modality-aware filter generation module (named MFGNet) to boost the message communication between visible and thermal data by adaptively adjusting the convolutional kernels for various input images in practical tracking. Given the image pairs as input, we first encode their features with the backbone network. Then, we concatenate these feature maps and generate dynamic modality-aware filters with two independent networks. The visible and thermal filters will be used to conduct a dynamic convolutional operation on their corresponding input feature maps respectively. Inspired by residual connection, both the generated visible and thermal feature maps will be summarized with input feature maps. The augmented feature maps will be fed into the RoI align module to generate instance-level features for subsequent classification. To address issues caused by heavy occlusion, fast motion and out-of-view, we propose to conduct a joint local and global search by exploiting a new direction-aware target driven attention mechanism. The spatial and temporal recurrent neural network is used to capture the direction-aware context for accurate global attention prediction. Acoustic echo and background noise can seriously degrade the intelligibility of speech. In practice, echo and noise suppression are usually treated as two separated tasks and can be removed with various digital signal processing (DSP) and deep learning techniques. In this paper, we propose a new cascaded model, magnitude and complex temporal convolutional neural network (MC-TCN), to jointly perform acoustic echo cancellation and noise suppression with the help of adaptive filters. The MC-TCN cascades two separation cores, which are used to extract robust magnitude spectra feature and to enhance magnitude and phase simultaneously. Submillimeter/millimeter observations of dusty star-forming galaxies with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) have shown that dust continuum emission generally occurs in compact regions smaller than the stellar distribution. However, it remains to be understood how systematic these findings are. Studies often lack homogeneity in the sample selection, target discontinuous areas with inhomogeneous sensitivities, and suffer from modest $uv$ coverage coming from single array configurations. GOODS-ALMA is a 1.1mm galaxy survey over a continuous area of 72.42arcmin$^2$ at a homogeneous sensitivity. In this version 2.0, we present a new low resolution dataset and its combination with the previous high resolution dataset from the survey, improving the $uv$ coverage and sensitivity reaching an average of $σ= 68.4μ$Jy beam$^{-1}$. A total of 88 galaxies are detected in a blind search (compared to 35 in the high resolution dataset alone), 50% at $S/N_{peak} \geq 5$ and 50% at $3.5 \leq S/N_{peak} \leq 5$ aided by priors. Among them, 13 out of the 88 are optically dark or faint sources ($H$- or $K$-band dropouts). The sample dust continuum sizes at 1.1mm are generally compact, with a median effective radius of $R_{e} = 0"10 \pm 0"05$ (a physical size of $R_{e} = 0.73 \pm 0.29$kpc at the redshift of each source). Dust continuum sizes evolve with redshift and stellar mass resembling the trends of the stellar sizes measured at optical wavelengths, albeit a lower normalization compared to those of late-type galaxies. We conclude that for sources with flux densities $S_{1.1mm} > 1$mJy, compact dust continuum emission at 1.1mm prevails, and sizes as extended as typical star-forming stellar disks are rare. The $S_{1.1mm} < 1$mJy sources appear slightly more extended at 1.1mm, although they are still generally compact below the sizes of typical star-forming stellar disks.

SDSS J134244.4+053056 is a tidal disruption event candidate with strong temporal coronal line emitters and a long fading, mid-infrared dust echo. We present detailed analyses of X-ray emission from a Swift/XRT observation in 2009 and the most recent XMM-Newton/pn observation in 2020. The two spectra can be modeled with hard and soft components. While no significant variability is detected in the hard component above 2 keV between these two observations, the soft X-ray emission in 0.3-2 keV varies by a factor of $\sim5$. The luminosity of this soft component fades from $\sim1.8\times10^{41}$ to $\sim3.7\times10^{40}$ erg s$^{-1}$ from the observation in Swift to that of XMM-Newton, which are 8 and 19 years after the outburst occurred, respectively. The evolution of luminosity matches with the $t^{-5/3}$ decline law well; there is a soft X-ray peak luminosity of 10$^{44}$ erg s$^{-1}$ at the time of the optical flare. Furthermore, the spectra of the soft component harden slightly in the decay phase, in which the photon index $Γ$ varies from $4.8^{+1.2}_{-0.9}$ to $3.7\pm0.5$, although they are consistent with each other if we consider the uncertainties. Additionally, by comparing the BH mass estimate between the $M-σ$ correlation, the broad H$α$ emission, and the fundamental plane relation of BH accretion, we find that a value of $\sim10^{5}$Msun is favored. If so, taking its X-ray spectral variation, luminosity evolution, and further support from theory into account, we suggest that SDSS J134244.4+053056 is a long-lived tidal disruption event candidate lasting more than 18 years with an intermediate-mass black hole.

Person re-identification (re-ID) in the scenario with large spatial and temporal spans has not been fully explored. This is partially because that, existing benchmark datasets were mainly collected with limited spatial and temporal ranges, e.g., using videos recorded in a few days by cameras in a specific region of the campus. Such limited spatial and temporal ranges make it hard to simulate the difficulties of person re-ID in real scenarios. In this work, we contribute a novel Large-scale Spatio-Temporal LaST person re-ID dataset, including 10,862 identities with more than 228k images. Compared with existing datasets, LaST presents more challenging and high-diversity re-ID settings, and significantly larger spatial and temporal ranges. For instance, each person can appear in different cities or countries, and in various time slots from daytime to night, and in different seasons from spring to winter. To our best knowledge, LaST is a novel person re-ID dataset with the largest spatio-temporal ranges. Based on LaST, we verified its challenge by conducting a comprehensive performance evaluation of 14 re-ID algorithms. We further propose an easy-to-implement baseline that works well on such challenging re-ID setting. We also verified that models pre-trained on LaST can generalize well on existing datasets with short-term and cloth-changing scenarios. We expect LaST to inspire future works toward more realistic and challenging re-ID tasks. More information about the dataset is available at https://github.com/shuxjweb/last.git.

Network embedding aims to represent a network into a low dimensional space where the network structural information and inherent properties are maximumly preserved. Random walk based network embedding methods such as DeepWalk and node2vec have shown outstanding performance in the aspect of preserving the network topological structure. However, these approaches either predict the distribution of a node's neighbors in both direction together, which makes them unable to capture any asymmetric relationship in a network; or preserve asymmetric relationship in only one direction and hence lose the one in another direction. To address these limitations, we propose bidirectional group random walk based network embedding method (BiGRW), which treats the distributions of a node's neighbors in the forward and backward direction in random walks as two different asymmetric network structural information. The basic idea of BiGRW is to learn a representation for each node that is useful to predict its distribution of neighbors in the forward and backward direction separately. Apart from that, a novel random walk sampling strategy is proposed with a parameter α to flexibly control the trade-off between breadth-first sampling (BFS) and depth-first sampling (DFS). To learn representations from node attributes, we design an attributed version of BiGRW (BiGRW-AT). Experimental results on several benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed methods significantly outperform the state-of-the-art plain and attributed network embedding methods on tasks of node classification and clustering.

Tracking by natural language specification is a new rising research topic that aims at locating the target object in the video sequence based on its language description. Compared with traditional bounding box (BBox) based tracking, this setting guides object tracking with high-level semantic information, addresses the ambiguity of BBox, and links local and global search organically together. Those benefits may bring more flexible, robust and accurate tracking performance in practical scenarios. However, existing natural language initialized trackers are developed and compared on benchmark datasets proposed for tracking-by-BBox, which can't reflect the true power of tracking-by-language. In this work, we propose a new benchmark specifically dedicated to the tracking-by-language, including a large scale dataset, strong and diverse baseline methods. Specifically, we collect 2k video sequences (contains a total of 1,244,340 frames, 663 words) and split 1300/700 for the train/testing respectively. We densely annotate one sentence in English and corresponding bounding boxes of the target object for each video. We also introduce two new challenges into TNL2K for the object tracking task, i.e., adversarial samples and modality switch. A strong baseline method based on an adaptive local-global-search scheme is proposed for future works to compare. We believe this benchmark will greatly boost related researches on natural language guided tracking.

We study the online stochastic matching problem. Consider a bipartite graph with offline vertices on one side, and with i.i.d.online vertices on the other side. The offline vertices and the distribution of online vertices are known to the algorithm beforehand. The realization of the online vertices, however, is revealed one at a time, upon which the algorithm immediately decides how to match it. For maximizing the cardinality of the matching, we give a $0.711$-competitive online algorithm, which improves the best previous ratio of $0.706$. When the offline vertices are weighted, we introduce a $0.7009$-competitive online algorithm for maximizing the total weight of the matched offline vertices, which improves the best previous ratio of $0.662$.
Conceptually, we find that the analysis of online algorithms simplifies if the online vertices follow a Poisson process, and establish an approximate equivalence between this Poisson arrival model and online stochstic matching. Technically, we propose a natural linear program for the Poisson arrival model, and demonstrate how to exploit its structure by introducing a converse of Jensen's inequality. Moreover, we design an algorithmic amortization to replace the analytic one in previous work, and as a result get the first vertex-weighted online stochastic matching algorithm that improves the results in the weaker random arrival model.

Akin to other data formats such as text and images, visualizations are increasingly created, stored, shared, and (re-)used with artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. In this survey, we probe the underlying vision of formalizing visualizations as an emerging data format and review the recent advance in applying AI techniques to visualization data (AI4VIS). We define visualization data as the digital representations of visualizations in computers and focus on data visualization (e.g., charts and infographics). We build our survey upon a corpus spanning ten different fields in computer science with an eye toward identifying important common interests. Our resulting taxonomy is organized around WHAT is visualization data and its representation, WHY and HOW to apply AI to visualization data. We highlight a set of common tasks that researchers apply to the visualization data and present a detailed discussion of AI approaches developed to accomplish those tasks. Drawing upon our literature review, we discuss several important research questions surrounding the management and exploitation of visualization data, as well as the role of AI in support of those processes. A data representation for system behavior telemetry for scalable big data security analytics is presented, affording telemetry consumers comprehensive visibility into workloads at reduced storage and processing overheads. The new abstraction, SysFlow, is a compact open data format that lifts the representation of system activities into a flow-centric, object-relational map** that records how applications interact with their environment, relating processes to file accesses, network activities, and runtime information. The telemetry format supports single-event and volumetric flow representations of process control flows, file interactions, and network communications. Evaluation on enterprise-grade benchmarks shows that SysFlow facilitates deeper introspection into attack kill chains while yielding traces orders of magnitude smaller than current state-of-the-art system telemetry approaches -- drastically reducing storage requirements and enabling feature-filled system analytics, process-level provenance tracking, and long-term data archival for cyber threat discovery and forensic analysis on historical data.

Group IV and V monolayers are the promising state-of-the-art 2D materials owing to their high carrier mobility, tunable bandgaps, and optical linear dichroism along with outstanding electronic and thermoelectric properties. Furthermore, recent studies reveal the stability of free-standing 2D monolayers by hydrogenation. Inspired by this, we systematically predict and investigate the structure and properties of various hydrogen saturated silicon phosphide (H-Si-P) monolayers, based on first-principles calculations. According to the results, H-Si-P monolayers belong to indirect bandgap semiconductors with a highly stable structure. Their bandgaps and band edge positions assessed using accurate hybrid functional are shown to be effectively adjusted by applying a biaxial strain. Furthermore, the absorption spectra of these monolayers, simulated in the context of time-dependent density functional theory, exhibit their excellent potential for solar energy conversion and visible-light-driven photocatalytic water splitting. In this respect, this work provides valuable guidance for finding more 2D semiconductors and nanostructures for nanoelectronic and optoelectronic applications, as well as for photocatalytic water splitting.

Optical transient surveys have led to the discovery of dozens of stellar tidal disruption events (TDEs) by massive black hole in the centers of galaxies. Despite extensive searches, X-ray follow-up observations have produced no or only weak X-ray detections in most of them. Here we report the discovery of delayed X-ray brightening around 140 days after the optical outburst in the TDE OGLE16aaa, followed by several flux dips during the decay phase. These properties are unusual for standard TDEs and could be explained by the presence of supermassive black hole binary or patchy obscuration. In either scenario, the X-rays can be produced promptly after the disruption but are blocked in the early phase, possibly by a radiation-dominated ejecta which leads to the bulk of optical and ultraviolet emission. Our findings imply that the reprocessing is important in the TDE early evolution, and X-ray observations are promising in revealing supermassive black hole binaries.

Leukocyte differential test is a widely performed clinical procedure for screening infectious diseases. Existing hematology analyzers require labor-intensive work and a panel of expensive reagents. Here we report an artificial-intelligence enabled reagent-free imaging hematology analyzer (AIRFIHA) modality that can accurately classify subpopulations of leukocytes with minimal sample preparation. AIRFIHA is realized through training a two-step residual neural network using label-free images of separated leukocytes acquired from a custom-built quantitative phase microscope. We validated the performance of AIRFIHA in randomly selected test set and cross-validated it across all blood donors. AIRFIHA outperforms current methods in classification accuracy, especially in B and T lymphocytes, while preserving the natural state of cells. It also shows a promising potential in differentiating CD4 and CD8 cells. Owing to its easy operation, low cost, and strong discerning capability of complex leukocyte subpopulations, we envision AIRFIHA is clinically translatable and can also be deployed in resource-limited settings, e.g., during pandemic situations for the rapid screening of infectious diseases.

The optical time-domain astronomy has grown rapidly in the past decade but the dynamic infrared sky is rarely explored. Aiming to construct a sample of mid-infrared outburst in nearby galaxies (MIRONG), we have conducted a systematical search of low-redshift ($z<0.35$) SDSS spectroscopic galaxies that have experienced recent MIR flares using their Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) light curves. A total of 137 galaxies have been selected by requiring a brightening amplitude of 0.5 magnitude in at least one WISE band with respect to their quiescent phases. Only a small faction (10.9%) has corresponding optical flares. Except for the four supernova (SNe) in our sample, the MIR luminosity of remaining sources ($L_{\rm 4.6μm}>10^{42}~\rm erg~s^{-1}$) are markedly brighter than known SNe and their physical locations are very close to the galactic center (median <0.1"). Only four galaxies are radio-loud indicating that synchrotron radiation from relativistic jets could contribute MIR variability. We propose that these MIR outburst are dominated by the dust echoes of transient accretion onto supermassive black holes, such as tidal disruption events (TDEs) and turn-on (changing-look) AGNs. Moreover, the inferred peak MIR luminosity function is generally consistent with the X-ray and optical TDEs at high end albeit with large uncertainties. Our results suggest that a large population of transients have been overlooked by optical surveys, probably due to dust obscuration or intrinsically optical weakness. Thus, a search in the infrared band is crucial for us to obtain a panoramic picture of nuclear outburst. The multiwavength follow-up observations of the MIRONG sample are in progress and will be presented in a series of subsequent papers.

To understand a complex action, multiple sources of information, including appearance, positional, and semantic features, need to be integrated. However, these features are difficult to be fused since they often differ significantly in modality and dimensionality. In this paper, we present a novel framework that accomplishes this goal by interactive fusion, namely, projecting features across different spaces and guiding it using an auxiliary prediction task. Specifically, we implement the framework in three steps, namely, positional-to-appearance feature extraction, semantic feature interaction, and semantic-to-positional prediction. We evaluate our approach on two action recognition datasets, Something-Something and Charades. Interactive fusion achieves consistent accuracy gain beyond off-the-shelf action recognition algorithms. In particular, on Something-Else, the compositional setting of Something-Something, interactive fusion reports a remarkable gain of 2.9% in terms of top-1 accuracy.

We present Chandra imaging and spectral observations of Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC 4388. Three extended X-ray structures around the nucleus on kpc scale are well imaged, allowing an in-depth spatially resolved study. Both the extended hard continuum and the Fe K$α$ line show similar morphology, consistent with a scenario where the ionizing emission from nucleus is reprocessed by circumnuclear cold gas, resulting in a weak reflection continuum and an associated neutral Fe K$α$ line. This has been seen in other Compton thick active galactic nuclei (AGN), but NGC 4388 is one of the rare cases with a lower column density ($N_{\rm H} < 1.25\times 10^{24}$ cm$^{-2}$) along the line of sight. Significant differences in equivalent width of the Fe K$α$ emission line are found for the nuclear and extended regions, which could be ascribed to different column densities or scattering angles with respect to the line of sight, rather than variations in iron abundances. The north-east and west extended structures are aligned with the galactic disk and dust lane in the HST $V-H$ map, and located at the peak of molecular gas distribution. The morphology implies that the kpc-scale radio outflow may have compressed the interstellar gas and produced clumps working as the reflector to enhance line emission. Using [OIV] emission as a proxy of the AGN intrinsic luminosity, we find that both of the extended Fe K$α$ emission and reflection continuum are linearly correlated with the [OIV] luminosity, indicating a connection between the AGN and the extended emission.

RX J1301.9+2747 is an ultrasoft active galactic nucleus (AGN) with unusual X-ray variability that is characterized by a long quiescent state and a short-lived flare state. The X-ray flares are found to recur quasi-periodically on a timescale of 13-20 ks. Here, we report the analysis of the light curve in the quiescent state from two XMM observations spanning 18.5 years, along with the discovery of a possible quasi-periodic X-ray oscillation (QPO) with a period of ~1500s. The QPO is detected at the same frequency in the two independent observations, with a combined significance of >99.89%. The QPO is in agreement with the relation between frequency and black hole mass (M_BH) that has been reported in previous works for AGNs and Galactic black hole X-ray binaries (XRBs). The QPO frequency is stable over almost two decades, suggesting that it may correspond to the high-frequency type found in XRBs and originates, perhaps, from a certain disk resonance mode. In the 3:2 twin-frequency resonance model, our best estimate on the M_BH range implies that a maximal black hole spin can be ruled out. We find that all ultrasoft AGNs reported so far display quasi-periodicities in the X-ray emission, suggesting a possible link on the part of the extreme variability phenomenon to the ultrasoft X-ray component. This indicates that ultrasoft AGNs could be the most promising candidates in future searches for X-ray periodicities.

Still, all contributors may find it difficult to assimilate into OSS community even they are enthusiastic to make contributions. We thus suggest that partner recommendation across different roles may benefit both the users and developers, i.e., once we are able to make successful recommendation for those in need, it may dramatically contribute to the productivity of developers and the enthusiasm of users, thus further boosting OSS projects' development. Motivated by this potential, we model the partner recommendation as link prediction task from email data via network embedding methods. In this paper, we introduce time-series snapshot network (TSSN) which is a mixture network to model the interactions among users and developers. Based on the established TSSN, we perform temporal biased walk (TBW) to automatically capture both temporal and structural information of the email network, i.e., the behavioral similarity between individuals in the OSS email network. Experiments on ten Apache datasets demonstrate that the proposed TBW significantly outperforms a number of advanced random walk based embedding methods, leading to the state-of-the-art recommendation performance.

Surface nanoscale axial photonics (SNAP) microresonators with nanoscale effective radius variation (ERV) along optical fiber axis can be fabricated by inscribing axially oriented lines inside the fiber with a femtosecond laser. The optimization of variable parameters in the femtosecond laser inscription technique is of great significance for flexible and ultra-high precision control of ERV, which is vital to the performance of SNAP devices. Here, we present the first systematical investigation on the relationships between the various controllable fabrication parameters and the introduced ERV of the SNAP microresonators. Specifically, both the qualitative and quantitative processing principles were revealed. As a proof-of-principle, by comprehensively optimizing the fabrication parameters, we realized a SNAP microresonator with the characteristics of both small axial size and maximal ERV, which is almost impossible to realize with other SNAP fabrication techniques. Our work promotes the fs laser inscription technology to be a flexible and versatile approach for fabricating the SNAP devices with ultra-high precision, ultra-low loss and high robustness.

Tidal disruption events (TDEs) occurred in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) are a special class of sources with outstanding scientific significance. TDEs can generate ultrafast winds, which should almost inevitably collide with the preexisting AGN dusty tori. We perform analytical calculations and simulations on the wind-torus interactions and find such a process can generate considerable X-ray afterglow radiation several years or decades later after the TDE outburst. This provides a new origin for the years delayed X-rays in TDEs. The X-ray luminosity can reach 10^{41-42} erg/s, and the light curve characteristics depend on the parameters of winds and tori. We apply the model to two TDE candidates, and provide lower limits on the masses of the disrupted stars, as well as rigorous constraints on the gas densities of tori. Our results suggest that the observations of the time delay, spectral shape, luminosity and the light curve of the X-ray afterglow can be used to constrain the physical parameters of both TDE winds and tori, including the wind velocity, wind density and torus density.
