We employ a statistical approach to investigate the influence of axial asymmetry on the nuclear level density and entropy along the fission pathways of a superheavy nucleus, explicitly focusing on the $^{296}$Lv isotope. These pathways are determined within multidimensional deformation spaces. Our analysis reveals a significant impact of triaxiality on entropy. Additionally, suppressing shell effects can alter the fission scenario depending on the available excitation energy. We derive the deformation-dependent level density parameter, which plays a crucial role in estimating the survival probability of a superheavy nucleus. Furthermore, we utilize a set of master equations to obtain the time-dependent fission probabilities and calculate the ratio of decay probabilities for both axial and triaxial paths.

The probabilities of $xn$-, $pxn$-, and $αxn$-evaporation channels in excited superheavy nuclei were evaluated using the Monte Carlo method. The calculations utilized microscopically determined nuclear level densities and were compared with results obtained from the phenomenological Jackson formula. Effective temperatures derived from the microscopic approach were incorporated into the Jackson formula for different evaporation channels at low and moderate excitation energies. Additionally, an analytical formula was introduced to estimate the average kinetic energy of emitted particles in multi-step processes.

An experiment on the study of the $^{246}$Fm spontaneous fission was conducted using the SHELS separator. The isotope was synthesized in the complete fusion reaction of $^{40}$Ar beam ions and $^{208}$Pb target nuclei. The neutron yields of $^{246}$Fm spontaneous fission ($\overlineν = 3.79\pm0.30$, $σ^{2}_ν = 2.1$) were obtained using the SFiNx detector system. The multiplicity distribution of emitted prompt neutrons was restored using the Tikhonov method of statistical regularisation ($\overlineν_{r} = 3.79\pm0.20$, $σ^{2}_{νr} = 2.8$). The spontaneous fission branching ratio ($b_{SF} = 0.061\pm0.005$) and the half-life ($T_{1/2} = 1.50^{+0.08}_{-0.07}$ s) of the isotope were determined. The experimental data were compared with scission point model predictions. Excellent convergence was observed in the average number of neutrons per spontaneous fission process. However, the forms of the experimental and model prompt neutron multiplicity distributions differ significantly.

The properties of the collective low-lying states of Zr isotopes which include excitation energies and $E2$ reduced transition probabilities indicate that some of these states are mainly spherical and the other are mainly deformed ones. We investigate the properties of the low-lying collective states of $^{92-102}$Zr and their evolution with increase of the number of neutrons based on the five-dimensional Geometrical Quadrupole Collective Model. The quadrupole-collective Bohr Hamiltonian with a potential having spherical and deformed minima, is applied. The relative depth of two minima, height and width of the barrier, rigidity of the potential near both minima are determined so as to achieve the best possible description of the observed properties of the low-lying collective quadrupole states of $^{92-102}$Zr. Satisfactory agreement with the experimental data on the excitation energies and the $E2$ reduced transition probabilities is obtained. The evolution of the collective potential with increase of $A$ is described and the distributions of the wave functions of the collective states in $β-γ$ plane are found. The resulting potential evolves with $A$ increase from having only one spherical minimum in $^{92}$Zr, through the potentials having both spherical and deformed minima, to the potential with one deformed minimum in $^{102}$Zr.

The nuclear level densities and level-density parameters in fissioning nuclei at their saddle points of fission barriers - $a_{f}$, as well as those for neutron - $a_{n}$, proton - $a_{p}$ , and $α$-particle - $a_α$ emission residues at the ground states are calculated for isotopic chains of superheavy nuclei with $Z$=112-120. The calculations are performed with the superfluid formalism using the single-particle energies obtained from the diagonalization of the deformed Woods-Saxon potential. Spectra were generated at global minima of the adiabatic potential energy surfaces, found by the multidimensional minimization method, and at the proper saddle points, found by the "immersion water flow" technique on multidimensional energy grids, with allowed the reflection and axial symmetry breaking. The influence of shell effects on the energy dependence of the ratios of level-density parameters corresponding to residues of the considered decay modes to those of neutron emission is studied. We have shown that, in contrast to the $a_{f}/a_{n}$ ratio, the $a_{p}/a_{n}$ and $a_α/a_{n}$ ratios do not show characteristic maxima depending on the excitation energy of the compound nucleus being formed. In the case of alpha decay, we identified the collective enhancement caused by cluster degrees of freedom to play quite an important role. The energetic course of the variability of the level density parameters before reaching the asymptotic value, not taken into account so far, will be of great importance for the estimation of the probabilities of de-excitation cascades via light particles emission in competition with splitting and thus for the determination of the survival probabilities and finally for the total production cross-sections of superheavy nuclei in channels with their (light particles) participation.

We systematically study the nuclear level densities of superheavy nuclei, including odd systems, using the single-particle energies obtained with the Woods-Saxon potential diagonalization. Minimization over many deformation parameters for the global minima - ground states and the "imaginary water flow" technique on many deformation energy grids for the saddle points, including nonaxial shapes has been applied. The level density parameters are calculated by fitting the obtained results with the standard Fermi gas expression. The total potential energy and shell correction dependencies of the level-density parameter are analyzed and compared at the ground state and saddle point. These parameters are compared with the results of the phenomenological expression. As shown, this expression should be modified for the saddle points, especially for small excitation energy. The ratio of the level-density parameter at the saddle point to that at the ground state is shown to be crucial for the survival probability of the heavy nucleus.

Experimental data on $^{96}$Zr indicate coexisting spherical and deformed structures with small mixing amplitudes. Several collective low-lying states and E2 and M1 transitions are observed for this nucleus. The quadrupole-collective Bohr Hamiltonian depending on both $β$ and $γ$ shape variables with a potential having spherical and deformed minima, is applied consideration of these data. The relative depth of two minima, height and width of the barrier, rigidity of the potential near both minima are determined so as to achieve a satisfactory description of the observed properties of the low-lying collective quadrupole states of $^{96}$Zr. Good agreement with the experimental data on the excitation energies, $B(E2)$ and $B(M1; 2^+_2\rightarrow 2^+_1)$ reduced transition probabilities is obtained. It is shown that the low-energy structure of $^{96}$Zr can be described in a satisfactory way within the Geometrical Collective Model with a potential function supporting shape coexistence without other restrictions of its shape. However, the excitation energy of the $2^+_2$ state can be reproduced only if the rotation inertia coefficient is taken by four times smaller than the vibrational one in the region of the deformed well. It is shown also that shell effects are important for the description of the $B(M1; 2^+_2 \rightarrow 2^+_1)$ and $B(M1; 3^+_1 \rightarrow 2^+_1)$ transition probabilities. An indication for the influence of the pairing vibrational mode on the $0^+_2 \rightarrow 0^+_1$ transition is confirmed in agreement with the previous result.

There is a large body of evidence that atomic nuclei can undergo octupole distortion and assume the shape of a pear. This phenomenon is important for measurements of electric-dipole moments of atoms, which would indicate CP violation and hence probe physics beyond the standard model of particle physics. Isotopes of both radon and radium have been identified as candidates for such measurements. Here, we have observed the low-lying quantum states in $^{224}$Rn and $^{226}$Rn by accelerating beams of these radioactive nuclei. We report here additional states not assigned in our 2019 publication. We show that radon isotopes undergo octupole vibrations but do not possess static pear-shapes in their ground states. We conclude that radon atoms provide less favourable conditions for the enhancement of a measurable atomic electric-dipole moment.

A high-resolution $(p,t)$ experiment at $E_{p}$= 24 MeV was performed to populate low-spin states in the actinide nucleus ${}^{240}$Pu. The Q3D magnetic spectrograph of the Maier-Leibnitz Laboratory (MLL) in Munich (Germany) was used to identify the ejected tritons via $dE/E$ particle identification with its focal-plane detection system. Angular distributions were measured at nine different Q3D angles to assign spin and parity to the excited states based on a comparison with coupled-channels DWBA calculations.
In total, 209 states have been excited in $^{240}$Pu up to an excitation energy of 3 MeV. Many previously known states have also been observed and their spin-parity assignments were confirmed. However, many of the populated states have been seen for the first time. The low-spin one-octupole phonon excitations, i.e. $K^π = 0^-,1^-,2^-,3^-$, could be observed and a new candidate for the $K = 3$ projection is proposed. Furthermore, the double-octupole or $α$-cluster structure of the $0^+_2$ state in $^{240}$Pu has been studied in more detail. It is shown that the $0^+_2$ state in $^{230}$Th has a distinctly different structure. In addition, strongly excited $1^-$ states have been observed at 1.5\,MeV and 1.8\,MeV in $^{240}$Pu. The present study suggests that similar states might be observed in $^{230}$Th.
At least two different and distinct structures for $J^π = 0^+$ states are present in the actinides. These are pairing states and states with enhanced octupole correlations. We have shown that it is crucial to consider negative-parity single-particle states being admixed to some $K^π = 0^+_2$ rotational bands to understand the $α$-decay hindrance factors and enhanced $E1$-decay rates. Based on our analysis, we have identified the double-octupole or $α$-cluster $K^π = 0^+$ candidates from $^{224}$Ra to $^{240}$Pu.

It is shown that these dependences can be treated in a universal way with a single parameter of critical angular momentum, which characterizes phase transition from octupole vibrations to the stable octupole deformation. Using the simple but useful model of axially-symmetric reflection-asymmetric mode, the analytical expression for the parity splitting and electric dipole transitional moment have been obtained. The results obtained are in a good agreement with the experimental data for various isotopes of Ra, Th, U, and Pu.

The model is based on the assumption that cluster type shapes are produced by the motion of nuclear system in the mass-asymmetry coordinate. Assuming a binary reaction mechanism, the yield of isotopes near the heaviest $N=Z$ neutron-deficit nucleus $^{100}$Sn is studied with a microscopic transport model. The large influence of nuclear shell structure and isotope composition of the colliding nuclei on the production of exotic nuclei is demonstrated. It is shown that the reaction $^{54}$Fe+$^{106}$Cd seems to be most favourable for producing primary exotic Sn isotopes which may survive if the excitation energy in the entrance reaction channel is less than about 100 MeV. In the case of large differences in the charge (mass) numbers between entrance and exit channels the light fragment yield is essentially fed from the decay of excited primary heavier fragments. The existence of optimal energies for the production of some oxygen isotopes in the binary mechanism is demonstrated for the $^{32}$S+$^{197}$Au reaction.
