We investigate the properties of post-merger remnants of binary neutron star mergers in the framework of Damour-Esposito-Farese-type scalar-tensor theory of gravity with a massive scalar field by numerical relativity simulation. It is found that the threshold mass for prompt collapse is raised in the presence of the excited scalar field. Our simulation results also suggest the existence of long-lived $φ-$mode in hypermassive neutron stars due to the presence of the massive scalar field which enhances the quasi-radial oscillation in the remnant. We investigate the descalarization condition in hypermassive neutron stars and discover a distinctive signature in post-merger gravitational waves.

We study the merger of black hole-neutron star (BH-NS) binaries in numerical relativity, focusing on the properties of the remnant disk and the ejecta, varying the mass of compactness of the NS and the mass and spin of the BH. We find that within the precision of our numerical simulations, the remnant disk mass and ejecta mass normalized by the NS baryon mass ($\hat{M}_{\rm{rem}}$ and $\hat{M}_{\rm{eje}}$, respectively), and the cutoff frequency $f_{\rm{cut}}$ normalized by the initial total gravitational mass of the system at infinite separation approximately agree among the models with the same NS compactness $C_{\rm{NS}}=M_{\rm{NS}}/R_{\rm{NS}}$, mass ratio $Q=M_{\rm{BH}}/M_{\rm{NS}}$, and dimensionless BH spin $χ_{\rm{BH}}$ irrespective of the NS mass $M_{\rm{NS}}$ in the range of $1.092$--$1.691\,M_\odot$. This result shows that the merger outcome depends sensitively on $Q$, $χ_{\rm BH}$, and $C_{\rm{NS}}$ but only weekly on $M_{\rm{NS}}$. This justifies the approach of studying the dependence of NS tidal disruptions on the NS compactness by fixing the NS mass but changing the EOS. We further perform simulations with massive NSs of $M_{\rm{NS}}=1.8M_{\odot}$, and compare our results of $\hat{M}_{\rm{rem}}$ and $\hat{M}_{\rm{eje}}$ with those given by existing fitting formulas to test their robustness for more compact NSs. We find that the fitting formulas obtained in the previous studies are accurate within the numerical errors assumed, while our results also suggest that further improvement is possible by systematically performing more precise numerical simulations.

We study long-term evolution of the matter ejected in a black-hole neutron-star (BH-NS) merger employing the results of a long-term numerical-relativity simulation and nucleosynthesis calculation, in which both dynamical and post-merger ejecta formation are consistently followed. In particular, we employ the results for the merger of a $1.35\,M_\odot$ NS and a $5.4\,M_\odot$ BH with the dimensionless spin of 0.75. We confirm the finding in the previous studies that thermal pressure induced by radioactive heating in the ejecta significantly modifies the morphology of the ejecta. We then compute the kilonova (KN) light curves employing the ejecta profile obtained by the long-term evolution. We find that our present BH-NS model results in a KN light curve that is fainter yet more enduring than that observed in AT2017gfo. This is due to the fact that the emission is primarily powered by the lanthanide-rich dynamical ejecta, in which a long photon diffusion time scale is realized by the large mass and high opacity. While the peak brightness of the KN emission in both the optical and near-infrared bands is fainter than or comparable to those of binary NS models, the time-scale maintaining the peak brightness is much longer in the near-infrared band for the BH-NS KN model. Our result indicates that a BH-NS merger with massive ejecta can observationally be identified by the bright and long lasting ($>$two weeks) near-infrared emission.

We investigate impacts of stellar rotation and magnetic fields on black hole (BH) formation and its subsequent explosive activities, by conducting axisymmetric radiation-magnetohydrodynamics simulations of gravitational collapse of a 70 $M_\odot$ star with two-moment multi energy neutrino transport in numerical relativity. Due to its dense stellar structure, all models cannot avoid the eventual BH formation even though a strongly magnetized model experiences the so-called magnetorotational explosion prior to the BH formation. One intriguing phenomenon observed in the strongly magnetized model is the formation of a relativistic jet in the post-BH formation. The relativistic jet is the outcome of a combination of strong magnetic fields and low-density materials above the BH. The jet further enhances the explosion energy beyond $\sim10^{52}$ erg, which is well exceeding the gravitational overburden ahead of the shock. Our self-consistent supernova models demonstrate that rotating magnetized massive stars at the high-mass end of supernova progenitors could be a potential candidate of hypernova and long gamma-ray burst progenitors.

However thus far, there have been fewer studies of stars in inclined precessing orbits around a Kerr black hole. In this paper, we use the tensor virial equations to show the presence of possible resonances in these systems for typical physical parameters of black hole-neutron star binaries in close orbits or of a white dwarf/an ordinary star orbiting a supermassive black hole. This suggests the presence of a new instability before the tidal disruption limit is encountered in such systems.

The covariance matrix adaptation evolution strategy (CMA-ES) has been highly effective in black-box continuous optimization, as demonstrated by its success in both benchmark problems and various real-world applications. To address the need for an accessible yet potent tool in this domain, we developed cmaes, a simple and practical Python library for CMA-ES. cmaes is characterized by its simplicity, offering intuitive use and high code readability. This makes it suitable for quickly using CMA-ES, as well as for educational purposes and seamless integration into other libraries. Despite its simplistic design, cmaes maintains enhanced functionality. It incorporates recent advancements in CMA-ES, such as learning rate adaptation for challenging scenarios, transfer learning, and mixed-integer optimization capabilities. These advanced features are accessible through a user-friendly API, ensuring that cmaes can be easily adopted in practical applications. We regard cmaes as the first choice for a Python CMA-ES library among practitioners. The software is available under the MIT license at https://github.com/CyberAgentAILab/cmaes.

We consider a strong variant of the crash fault-tolerant gathering problem called stand-up indulgent gathering (SUIG), by robots endowed with limited visibility sensors and lights on line-shaped networks. In this problem, a group of mobile robots must eventually gather at a single location, not known beforehand, regardless of the occurrence of crashes. Differently from previous work that considered unlimited visibility, we assume that robots can observe nodes only within a certain fixed distance (that is, they are myopic), and emit a visible color from a fixed set (that is, they are luminous), without multiplicity detection. We consider algorithms depending on two parameters related to the initial configuration: $M_{init}$, which denotes the number of nodes between two border nodes, and $O_{init}$, which denotes the number of nodes hosting robots. Then, a border node is a node hosting one or more robots that cannot see other robots on at least one side. Our main contribution is to prove that, if $M_{init}$ or $O_{init}$ is odd, SUIG can be solved in the fully synchronous model.

The PHENIX experiment has performed a systematic study of identified charged-hadron ($π^\pm$, $K^\pm$, $p$, $\bar{p}$) production at midrapidity in $p$$+$Al, $^3$He$+$Au, Cu$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV and U$+$U collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=193$ GeV. Identified charged-hadron invariant transverse-momentum ($p_T$) and transverse-mass ($m_T$) spectra are presented and interpreted in terms of radially expanding thermalized systems. The particle ratios of $K/π$ and $p/π$ have been measured in different centrality ranges of large (Cu$+$Au, U$+$U) and small ($p$$+$Al, $^3$He$+$Au) collision systems. The values of $K/π$ ratios measured in all considered collision systems were found to be consistent with those measured in $p$$+$$p$ collisions. However the values of $p/π$ ratios measured in large collision systems reach the values of $\approx0.6$, which is $\approx2$ times larger than in $p$$+$$p$ collisions. These results can be qualitatively understood in terms of the baryon enhancement expected from hadronization by recombination. Identified charged-hadron nuclear-modification factors ($R_{AB}$) are also presented. Enhancement of proton $R_{AB}$ values over meson $R_{AB}$ values was observed in central $^3$He$+$Au, Cu$+$Au, and U$+$U collisions. The proton $R_{AB}$ values measured in $p$$+$Al collision system were found to be consistent with $R_{AB}$ values of $φ$, $π^\pm$, $K^\pm$, and $π^0$ mesons, which may indicate that the size of the system produced in $p$$+$Al collisions is too small for recombination to cause a noticeable increase in proton production.

The lowest possible mass of ONeMg white dwarfs (WDs) has not been clarified despite its importance in the formation and evolution of WDs. We tackle this issue by studying the properties of V1405 Cas (Nova Cassiopeiae 2021), which is an outlier given a combination of its very slow light-curve evolution and the recently reported neon-nova identification. We report its rapid spectral evolution in the initial phase, covering 9.88, 23.77, 33.94, 53.53, 71.79, and 81.90 hours after the discovery. The first spectrum is characterized by lines from highly-ionized species, most noticeably He II and N III. These lines are quickly replaced by lower-ionization lines, e.g., N II, Si II, and O I. In addition, Al II (6237 Å) starts emerging as an emission line at the second epoch. We perform emission-line strength diagnostics, showing that the density and temperature quickly decrease toward later epochs. This behavior, together with the decreasing velocity seen in H$α$, H$β$, and He I, indicates that the initial nova dynamics is reasonably well described by an expanding fireball on top of an expanding photosphere. Interestingly, the strengths of the N III and Al II indicate large abundance enhancement, pointing to an ONeMg WD progenitor as is consistent with its neon-nova classification. Given its low-mass nature inferred by the slow light-curve evolution and relatively narrow emission lines, it provides a challenge to the stellar evolution theory that predicts the lower limit of the ONeMg WD mass being $\sim$ 1.1 $M_\odot$.

Consider that there are $k\le n$ agents in a simple, connected, and undirected graph $G=(V,E)$ with $n$ nodes and $m$ edges. The goal of the dispersion problem is to move these $k$ agents to distinct nodes. Agents can communicate only when they are at the same node, and no other means of communication such as whiteboards are available. We assume that the agents operate synchronously. We consider two scenarios: when all agents are initially located at any single node (rooted setting) and when they are initially distributed over any one or more nodes (general setting). Kshemkalyani and Sharma presented a dispersion algorithm for the general setting, which uses $O(m_k)$ time and $\log(k+δ)$ bits of memory per agent [OPODIS 2021]. Here, $m_k$ is the maximum number of edges in any induced subgraph of $G$ with $k$ nodes, and $δ$ is the maximum degree of $G$. This algorithm is the fastest in the literature, as no algorithm with $o(m_k)$ time has been discovered even for the rooted setting. In this paper, we present faster algorithms for both the rooted and general settings. First, we present an algorithm for the rooted setting that solves the dispersion problem in $O(k\log \min(k,δ))=O(k\log k)$ time using $O(\log δ)$ bits of memory per agent. Next, we propose an algorithm for the general setting that achieves dispersion in $O(k (\log k)\cdot (\log \min(k,δ))=O(k \log^2 k)$ time using $O(\log (k+δ))$ bits. Finally, for the rooted setting, we give a time-optimal, i.e.,$O(k)$-time, algorithm with $O(δ)$ bits of space per agent.

We explore the collapsar scenario for long gamma-ray bursts by performing axisymmetric neutrino-radiation magnetohydrodynamics simulations in full general relativity for the first time. In this paper, we pay particular attention to the outflow energy and the evolution of the black-hole spin. We show that for a strong magnetic field with an aligned field configuration initially given, a jet is launched by magnetohydrodynamical effects before the formation of a disk and a torus, and after the jet launch, the matter accretion onto the black hole is halted by the strong magnetic pressure, leading to the spin-down of the black hole due to the Blandford-Znajek mechanism. The spin-down timescale depends strongly on the magnetic-field strength initially given because the magnetic-field strength on the black-hole horizon, which is determined by the mass infall rate at the jet launch, depends strongly on the initial condition, although the total jet-outflow energy appears to be huge $>10^{53}$ erg depending only weakly on the initial field strength and configuration. For the models in which the magnetic-field configuration is not suitable for quick jet launch, a torus is formed and after a long-term magnetic-field amplification, a jet can be launched. For this case, the matter accretion onto the black hole continues even after the jet launch and black-hole spin-down is not found. We also find that the jet launch is often accompanied with the powerful explosion of the entire star with the explosion energy of order $10^{52}$ erg by magnetohydrodynamical effects. We discuss an issue of the overproduced energy for the early-jet-launch models.

We used the VERA (VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry) VLBI array to observe 22\,GHz H$_2$O masers of NSV17351. We derived an annual parallax of 0.247$\pm$0.035 mas which corresponds to a distance of 4.05$\pm$0.59 kpc. By averaging the proper motions of 15 maser spots, we obtained the systemic proper motion of NSV17351 to be ($μ_α\cosδ, μ_δ$)$^{\mathrm{avg}}$ $=$ ($-$1.19 $\pm$ 0.11, 1.30 $\pm$ 0.19) mas\,yr$^{-1}$. The maser spots spread out over a region of 20 mas $\times$ 30 mas, which can be converted to a spatial distribution of $\sim$80 au $\times$ $\sim$120 au at the source distance. Internal motions of the maser spots suggest an outward moving maser region with respect to the estimated position of the central star. From single dish monitoring of the H$_2$O maser emission, we estimate the pulsation period of NSV17351 to be 1122$\pm$24 days. This is the first report of the periodic activity of NSV17351, indicating that NSV17351 could have a mass of $\sim$4\,M$_{\odot}$. We confirmed that the time variation of H$_2$O masers can be used as a period estimator of variable OH/IR stars. Furthermore, by inspecting dozens of double-peaked H$_2$O maser spectra from the last 40 years, we detected a long-term acceleration in the radial velocity of the circumstellar matter to be $0.17\pm0.03$ km\,s$^{-1}$\,yr$^{-1}$ Finally, we determined the position and kinematics of NSV17351 in the Milky Way Galaxy and found that NSV17351 is located in an interarm region between the Outer and Perseus arms. We note that astrometric VLBI observations towards extreme OH/IR stars are useful samples for studies of the Galactic dynamics.

We perform a new general-relativistic viscous-radiation hydrodynamics simulation for supernova-like explosion associated with stellar core collapse of rotating massive stars to a system of a black hole and a massive torus paying particular attention to large-mass progenitor stars with the zero-age main-sequence mass of $M_\mathrm{ZAMS}=$20, 35, and 45$M_\odot$ of Ref.~\cite{Aguilera-Dena2020oct}. Assuming that a black hole is formed in a short timescale after the onset of the stellar collapse, the new simulations are started from initial data of a spinning black hole and infalling matter that self-consistently satisfy the constraint equations of general relativity. It is found that with a reasonable size of the viscous parameter, the supernova-like explosion is driven by the viscous heating effect in the torus around the black hole irrespective of the progenitor mass. The typical explosion energy and ejecta mass for the large-mass cases ($M_\mathrm{ZAMS}=35$ and $45M_\odot$) are $\sim 10^{52}$ erg and $\sim 5M_\odot$, respectively, with $^{56}$Ni mass larger than $0.15M_\odot$. These are consistent with the observational data of stripped-envelope and high-energy supernovae such as broad-lined type Ic supernovae. This indicates that rotating stellar collapses of massive stars to a black hole surrounded by a massive torus can be a central engine for high-energy supernovae. By artificially varying the angular velocity of the initial data, we explore the dependence of the explosion energy and ejecta mass on the initial angular momentum and find that the large explosion energy $\sim 10^{52}$ erg and large $^{56}$Ni mass $\geq 0.15M_\odot$ are possible only when a large-mass compact torus with mass $\gtrsim 1M_\odot$ is formed.

One of the key questions on active galactic nuclei (AGN) in galaxy clusters is how AGN could affect the formation and evolution of member galaxies and galaxy clusters in the history of the Universe. To address this issue, we investigate the dependence of AGN number fraction ($f_{\rm AGN}$) on cluster redshift ($z_{\rm cl}$) and distance from the cluster center ($R/R_{\rm 200}$). We focus on more than 27,000 galaxy groups and clusters at $0.1 < z_{\rm cl} < 1.4$ with more than 1 million member galaxies selected from the Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam. By combining various AGN selection methods based on infrared (IR), radio, and X-ray data, we identify 2,688 AGN. We find that (i) $f_{\rm AGN}$ increases with $z_{\rm cl}$ and (ii) $f_{\rm AGN}$ decreases with $R/R_{\rm 200}$. The main contributors to the rapid increase of $f_{\rm AGN}$ towards high-$z$ and cluster center are IR- and radio-selected AGN, respectively. Those results indicate that the emergence of the AGN population depends on the environment and redshift, and galaxy groups and clusters at high-$z$ play an important role in AGN evolution. We also find that cluster-cluster mergers may not drive AGN activity in at least the cluster center, while we have tentative evidence that cluster-cluster mergers would enhance AGN activity in the outskirts of (particularly massive) galaxy clusters.

We study quasi-equilibrium sequences of binary neutron stars in the framework of Damour-Esposito-Farese-type scalar-tensor theory of gravity with a massive scalar field, paying particular attention to the case where neutron stars are already spontaneously scalarized at distant orbits, i.e., in the high coupling constant case. Although scalar effects are largely quenched when the separation $a$ is $\gtrsim 3$--$6$ times of the Compton length-scale that is defined by the scalar mass, we show that the interaction between the scalar fields of the two neutron stars generates a scalar cloud surrounding the binary at the price of orbital energy when $a \lesssim 3$--$6$ times of the Compton length-scale. This enables us to constrain the scalar mass $m_φ$ from gravitational-wave observations of binary neutron star mergers by inspecting the dephasing due to such phenomenon. In particular, the event GW170817 is suggestive of a constraint of $m_φ\gtrsim 10^{-11}$ eV and the coupling strength should be mild if the neutron stars in this system were spontaneously scalarized.

Gamma rays from HESS J1849$-$000, a middle-aged TeV pulsar wind nebula (PWN), are observed by the Tibet air shower array and the muon detector array. The detection significance of gamma rays reaches $4.0\, σ$ and $4.4\, σ$ levels above 25 TeV and 100 TeV, respectively, in units of Gaussian standard deviation $σ$. The energy spectrum measured between $40\, {\rm TeV} < E < 320\, {\rm TeV}$ for the first time is described with a simple power-law function of ${\rm d}N/{\rm d}E = (2.86 \pm 1.44) \times 10^{-16}(E/40\, {\rm TeV})^{-2.24 \pm 0.41}\, {\rm TeV}^{-1}\, {\rm cm}^{-2}\, {\rm s}^{-1}$. The gamma-ray energy spectrum from the sub-TeV ($E < 1\, {\rm TeV}$) to sub-PeV ($100\, {\rm TeV} < E < 1\, {\rm PeV}$) ranges including the results of previous studies can be modeled with the leptonic scenario, inverse Compton scattering by high-energy electrons accelerated by the PWN of PSR J1849$-$0001. On the other hand, the gamma-ray energy spectrum can also be modeled with the hadronic scenario in which gamma rays are generated from the decay of neutral pions produced by collisions between accelerated cosmic-ray protons and the ambient molecular cloud found in the gamma-ray emitting region. The cutoff energy of cosmic-ray protons $E_{\rm p\, cut}$, cut is estimated at ${\rm log}_{10}(E_{\rm p,\, cut}/{\rm TeV}) = 3.73^{+2.98}_{-0.66}$, suggesting that protons are accelerated up to the PeV energy range. Our study thus proposes that HESS J1849$-$000 should be further investigated as a new candidate for a Galactic PeV cosmic-ray accelerator, PeVatron.

This work presents, for the first time, the energy spectrum of gamma rays beyond $100\, {\rm TeV}$ from the HESS J1843$-$033 region using the data recorded by the Tibet air shower array and its underground muon detector array. A gamma-ray source with an extension of $0.34^{\circ} \pm 0.12^{\circ}$ is successfully detected above $25\, {\rm TeV}$ at $(α,\, δ) = (281.09^{\circ}\pm 0.10^{\circ},\, -3.76^{\circ}\pm 0.09^{\circ})$ near HESS J1843$-$033 with a statistical significance of $6.2\, σ$, and the source is named TASG J1844$-$038. The position of TASG J1844$-$038 is consistent with those of HESS J1843$-$033, eHWC J1842$-$035, and LHAASO J1843$-$0338. The measured gamma-ray energy spectrum in $25\, {\rm TeV} < E < 130\, {\rm TeV}$ is described with ${\rm d}N/{\rm d}E = (9.70\pm 1.89)\times 10^{-16} (E/40\, {\rm TeV})^{-3.26\pm 0.30}\, {\rm TeV}^{-1} {\rm cm}^{-2} {\rm s}^{-1}$, and the spectral fit to the combined spectra of HESS J1843$-$033, LHAASO J1843$-$0338, and TASG J1844$-$038 implies the existence of a cutoff at $49.5\pm 9.0\, {\rm TeV}$. Associations of TASG J1844-038 with SNR G28.6$-$0.1 and PSR J1844-0346 are also discussed in detail for the first time.

We present an axisymmetric failed supernova simulation beyond black hole formation, for the first time with numerical relativity and two-moment multi energy neutrino transport. To ensure stable numerical evolution, we use an excision method for neutrino radiation-hydrodynamics within the inner part of black hole domain. We demonstrate that our excision method is capable to stably evolve the radiation-hydrodynamics in dynamical black hole spacetime. As a remarkable signature of the final moment of PNS, we find the emergence of high energy neutrinos. Those high energy neutrinos are associated with the proto-neutron star shock surface being swallowed by the central black hole and could be a possible observable of failed supernovae.

The merger of neutron stars drives a relativistic jet which can be observed as a short gamma-ray burst. A strong large-scale magnetic field is necessary to launch the relativistic jet. However, the magnetohydrodynamical mechanism to build up this magnetic field remains uncertain. Here we show that the $αΩ$ dynamo mechanism driven by the magnetorotational instability builds up the large-scale magnetic field inside the long-lived binary neutron star merger remnant by performing an {\it ab initio} super-high resolution neutrino-radiation magnetohydrodynamics merger simulation in full general relativity. As a result, the magnetic field induces the Poynting-flux dominated relativistic outflow with the luminosity $\sim 10^{51}$\,erg/s and magnetically-driven post-merger mass ejection with the mass $\sim 0.1M_\odot$. Therefore, the magnetar scenario in binary neutron star mergers is possible. These can be the engines of short-hard gamma-ray bursts and very bright kilonovae. Therefore, this scenario is testable in future observation.

We study kilonova emission from binary neutron star (BNS) mergers for the case that a remnant massive neutron star (MNS) forms and collapses to a black hole within $20$ ms after the onset of the merger (which we refer to as "a short-lived case") by consistently employing numerical-relativity and nucleosynthesis results. We find that such kilonovae are fainter and last shorter than those for BNSs resulting in the formation of long-lived ($\gg 1\,{\rm s}$) MNSs, in particular in the optical band. The resulting light curves are too faint and last for a too short duration to explain the kilonova observation for the BNS associated with GW170817, indicating that the merger remnant formed in GW170817 is unlikely to have collapsed to a black hole within a short period of time ($\sim 20$ ms) after the onset of the merger. Our present result implies that early observation is necessary to detect kilonovae associated with BNSs leading to short-lived MNS formation in particular for the optical blue band as well as that kilonovae could be hidden by the gamma-ray burst afterglow for nearly face-on observation. We provide a possible approximate scaling law for near-infrared light curves with the given reference time and magnitude when the decline power of the ${\it z}$-band magnitude, $d M_{\it z}/d{\rm log}_{10}t$, reaches $2.5$. This scaling law suggests that the ${\it HK}$-band follow-up observation should be at least $1$ mag deeper than that for the ${\it z}$-band reference magnitude and earlier than 4 times the reference time.

Our results are as follows: (1) in most cases, Virorsat is fainter than STARLINK-1113, and the sunshade on Visorsat, therefore, contributes to the reduction of the reflected sunlight; (2) the magnitude at 550 km altitude (normalized magnitude) of both satellites often reaches the naked-eye limiting magnitude ($<$ 6.0); (3) from a blackbody radiation model of the reflected flux, the peak of the reflected components of both satellites is around the $z$ band; and (4) the albedo of the near infrared range is larger than that of the optical range. Under the assumption that Visorsat and STARLINK-1113 have the same reflectivity, we estimate the covering factor, $C_{\rm f}$, of the sunshade on Visorsat, using the blackbody radiation model: the covering factor ranges from $0.18 \leq C_{\rm f} \leq 0.92$. From the multivariable analysis of the solar phase angle (Sun-target-observer), the normalized magnitude, and the covering factor, the phase angle versus covering factor distribution presents a moderate anti-correlation between them, suggesting that the magnitudes of Visorsat depend not only on the phase angle but also on the orientation of the sunshade along our line of sight. However, the impact on astronomical observations from Visorsat-designed satellites remains serious. Thus, new countermeasures are necessary for the Starlink satellites to further reduce reflected sunlight.

Superoutbursts in WZ Sge-type dwarf novae (DNe) are characterized by both early superhumps and ordinary superhumps originating from the 2:1 and 3:1 resonances, respectively. However, some WZ Sge-type DNe show a superoutburst lacking early superhumps; it is not well established how these differ from superoutbursts with an early superhump phase. We report time-resolved photometric observations of the WZ Sge-type DN V627 Peg during its 2021 superoutburst. The detection of ordinary superhumps before the superoutburst peak highlights that this 2021 superoutburst of V627 Peg, like that {in} 2014, did not feature an early superhump phase. The duration of stage B superhumps was slightly longer in the 2010 superoutburst accompanying early superhumps than that in the 2014 and 2021 superoutbursts which lacked early superhumps. This result suggests that an accretion disk experiencing the 2:1 resonance may have a larger mass at the inner part of the disk and hence take more time for the inner disk to become eccentric. The presence of a precursor outburst in the 2021 superoutburst suggests that the maximum disk radius should be smaller than that of the 2014 superoutburst, even though the duration of quiescence was longer than that before the 2021 superoutburst. This could be accomplished if the 2021 superoutburst was triggered as an inside-out outburst or if the mass transfer rate in quiescence changes by a factor of two, suggesting that the outburst mechanism and quiescence state of WZ Sge-type DNe may have more variety than ever thought.

Direct-photon yields are used to empirically estimate the contribution of hard-scattering processes in the different event samples. Using this estimate, the average nuclear-modification factor $R_{d\rm Au,EXP}^{γ^{\rm dir}}$ is $0.925{\pm}0.023({\rm stat}){\pm}0.15^{\rm (scale)}$, consistent with unity for minimum-bias (MB) $d$$+$Au events. For event classes with moderate event activity, $R_{d\rm Au,EXP}^{γ^{\rm dir}}$ is consistent with the MB value within 5\% uncertainty. These results confirm that the previously observed enhancement of high-$p_T$ $π^0$ production found in small-system collisions with low event activity is a result of a bias in interpreting event activity within the Glauber framework. In contrast, for the top 5\% of events with the highest event activity, $R_{d\rm Au,EXP}^{γ^{\rm dir}}$ is suppressed by 20\% relative to the MB value with a significance of $4.5σ$, which may be due to final-state effects.

A nonzero asymmetry is observed for positively charged hadrons at forward rapidity ($x_F>0$) in $p^{\uparrow}$+$p$ collisions, whereas the $p^{\uparrow}$+Al and $p^{\uparrow}$+Au results show smaller asymmetries. Secret sharing is a cryptographic scheme to encode a secret to multiple shares being distributed to participants, so that only qualified sets of participants can restore the original secret from their shares. When we encode a secret by a secret sharing scheme and distribute shares, sometimes not all participants are accessible, and it is desirable to distribute shares to those participants before a secret information is determined. Secret sharing schemes for classical secrets have been known to be able to distribute some shares before a given secret. Lie et al. found any pure $(k,2k-1)$-threshold secret sharing for quantum secrets can distribute some shares before a given secret. However, it is unknown whether distributing some shares before a given secret is possible with other access structures of secret sharing for quantum secrets. We propose a quantum secret sharing scheme for quantum secrets that can distribute some shares before a given secret with other access structures.

In this paper, we compute and analyze synthetic radio images of gamma-ray bursts and kilonova afterglows. For modeling the former, we consider GRB170817A-inspired set of parameters, while for the latter, we employ ejecta profiles from numerical-relativity simulations. We find that the kilonova afterglow sky map has a doughnut-like structure at early times that becomes more ring-like at late times. This is caused by the fact that the synchrotron emission from electrons following Maxwellian distribution function dominates the early, beamed, emission while emissions from electrons following power-law distribution is important at late times. For an on-axis observer, the image flux centroid moves on the image plane initially away from the observer. Flux centroid displacement The image sizes, we find, are the largest for equal mass merger simulations with the soft equation of state. The presence of a kilonova afterglow affects the properties inferred from the source sky map even if the gamma-ray burst afterglow dominates the total flux density. The main effect is the reduction of the mean apparent velocity of the source, and an increase in the source size. Thus, neglecting the presence of the kilonova afterglow may lead to systematic errors in the inference of gamma-ray burst properties from the sky map observations. Notably, at the observing angle inferred for GRB170817A the presence of kilonova afterglow would affect the sky map properties only at very late times $t\gtrsim1500\,$days.

In certain classes of the scalar-Gauss-Bonnet theory strong spacetime curvature in the vicinity of neutron stars and black holes can spontaneously trigger scalarization in the compact object if the coupling strength of the scalar field to the Gauss-Bonnet invariant exceeds a critical value. Specifying on neutron stars, this threshold depends on the mass and equation of state. The presence of a companion will further influence the required coupling strength for scalarization, and thus, a stable hair can be installed at a lower magnitude of coupling for those neutron stars as members of binaries. Focusing on binary neutron star mergers, we investigate this latter dynamically-driven scalarization, and find that the reduction in the threshold coupling strength seems to be more profound for symmetric binaries, while the threshold is only marginally reduced for rather asymmetric binaries. The associated scalar radiation is also discussed. We discover in addition a universal relation between the critical coupling strength and the stellar compactness for isolated neutron stars and perform a detailed comparison with the dynamical scalarization threshold. In synergy with such relations, one can, at least in principle, constrain the theory parameters regardless of the uncertainty in the equation of state.

We perform multi-dimensional core-collapse supernova (CCSN) simulations in a massive scalar-tensor theory for the first time with a realistic equation of state and multi-energy neutrino radiation. Among the set of our models varying the scalar mass and the coupling strength between the scalar and gravitational fields, a particular model allows for recurrent spontaneous scalarizations (SSs) in the proto-neutron star (PNS). Each SS induces the PNS collapse and subsequent bounce, from which devastating shock waves emanate and eject the PNS envelope. The explosion energy can easily exceed $\mathcal O(10^{51})$ erg. This study reveals new aspects of SS as the explosion mechanism of CCSNe. We also discuss its characteristic multi-messenger signals: neutrinos and gravitational waves.

Numerical-relativity simulations are performed by employing a suitable formulation in which the weak self-gravity of white dwarfs is accurately solved. We reconfirm that tidal disruption occurs for white dwarfs of the typical mass of $\sim 0.6M_\odot$ and radius $\approx 1.2 \times 10^4$\,km near the marginally bound orbit around a non-spinning black hole with $M_{\rm BH}\alt 4\times 10^5M_\odot$.

One of distinct capabilities of EAVN is multi-frequency simultaneous data reception at nine telescopes, which enable us to employ the frequency phase transfer technique to obtain better sensitivity at higher observing frequencies. EAVN started its open-use program in the second half of 2018, providing a total observing time of more than 1100 hours in a year. EAVN fills geographical gap in global VLBI array, resulting in enabling us to conduct contiguous high-resolution VLBI observations. EAVN has produced various scientific accomplishments especially in observations toward active galactic nuclei, evolved stars, and star-forming regions. These activities motivate us to initiate launch of the 'Global VLBI Alliance' to provide an opportunity of VLBI observation with the longest baselines on the earth.

We find that the combination of dynamical and post-merger ejecta reproduces a solar-like r-process pattern. Moreover, the enhancement level of actinides is highly sensitive to the distribution of both electron fraction and the velocity of the dynamical ejecta. Our result implies that the mean electron fraction of dynamical ejecta should be ~ 0.05-0.08 in order to reconcile the nucleosynthetic abundances with those in r-process-enhanced, actinide-boosted stars. This result provides an important constraint for nuclear equations of state.

We explore a possible scenario of the explosion as a result of core collapses of rotating massive stars that leave a black hole by performing a radiation-viscous-hydrodynamics simulation in numerical relativity. We take moderately and rapidly rotating compact pre-collapse stellar models derived in stellar evolution calculations as the initial conditions. We find that the viscous heating in the disk formed around the central black hole powers an outflow. For rapidly rotating models, the explosion energy is $\gtrsim 3\times10^{51}$ erg, which is comparable to or larger than that of typical stripped-envelope supernovae, indicating that a fraction of such supernovae may be explosions powered by black-hole accretion disks. The explosion energy is still increasing at the end of the simulations with a rate of $>10^{50}$ erg/s, and thus, it may reach $\sim10^{52}$ erg. The nucleosynthesis calculation shows that the mass of $^{56}$Ni amounts to $\gtrsim 0.1M_\odot$, which, together with the high explosion energy, satisfies the required amount for broad-lined type Ic supernovae. The moderately rotating models predict small ejecta mass of order $0.1M_\odot$ and explosion energy of $\lesssim 10^{51}$ erg. Due to the small ejecta mass, these models may predict a short-timescale transient with the rise time 3$-$5 d. It can lead to a bright ($\sim10^{44}$ erg/s) transient like superluminous supernovae in the presence of dense massive circum-stellar medium. Irrespective of the models, the lowest value of the electron fraction of the ejecta is $\gtrsim 0.4$, and thus, the synthesis of heavy $r$-process elements is not found in our calculation.

In this paper, we consider the partial gathering problem of mobile agents in synchronous dynamic bidirectional ring networks. When k agents are distributed in the network, the partial gathering problem requires, for a given positive integer g (< k), that agents terminate in a configuration such that either at least g agents or no agent exists at each node. So far, the partial gathering problem has been considered in static graphs. In this paper, we start considering partial gathering in dynamic graphs. As a first step, we consider this problem in 1-interval connected rings, that is, one of the links in a ring may be missing at each time step. In such networks, focusing on the relationship between the values of k and g, we fully characterize the solvability of the partial gathering problem and analyze the move complexity of the proposed algorithms when the problem can be solved. First, we show that the g-partial gathering problem is unsolvable when k <= 2g. Second, we show that the problem can be solved with O(n log g) time and the total number of O(gn log g) moves when 2g + 1 <= k <= 3g - 2. Third, we show that the problem can be solved with O(n) time and the total number of O(kn) moves when 3g - 1 <= k <= 8g - 4. Notice that since k = O(g) holds when 3g - 1 <= k <= 8g - 4, the move complexity O(kn) in this case can be represented also as O(gn). Finally, we show that the problem can be solved with O(n) time and the total number of O(gn) moves when k >= 8g - 3. These results mean that the partial gathering problem can be solved also in dynamic rings when k >= 2g + 1. In addition, agents require a total number of Ω(gn) moves to solve the partial (resp., total) gathering problem. Thus, when k >= 3g - 1, agents can solve the partial gathering problem with the asymptotically optimal total number of O(gn) moves.

The gravitational waves from the binary neutron star merger GW170817 were accompanied by a multi-wavelength electromagnetic counterpart, which confirms the association of the merger with a short gamma-ray burst (sGRB). The afterglow observations implied that the event was accompanied by a narrow, $\sim 5~$deg, and powerful, $\sim 10^{50}$ erg, jet. We study the propagation of a Poynting flux-dominated jet within the merger ejecta (kinematic, neutrino-driven and MRI turbulence-driven) of a neutrino-radiation-GR-MHD simulation of two coalescing neutron stars. We find that the presence of a post-merger low-density/low-pressure polar cavity, that arose due to angular momentum conservation, is crucial to let the jet break out. At the same time the ejecta collimates the jet to a narrow opening angle. The collimated jet has a narrow opening angle of $\sim 4$-$7$ deg and an energy of $10^{49}$-$10^{50}~$erg, in line with the observations of GW170817 and other sGRBs.

We perform a general-relativistic neutrino-radiation magnetohydrodynamic simulation of a one second-long binary neutron star merger on Japanese supercomputer Fugaku using about $72$ million CPU hours with $20,736$ CPUs. We consider an asymmetric binary neutron star merger with masses of $1.2$ and $1.5M_\odot$ and a `soft' equation of state SFHo. It results in a short-lived remnant with the lifetime of $\approx 0.017$\,s, and subsequent massive torus formation with the mass of $\approx 0.05M_\odot$ after the remnant collapses to a black hole. For the first time, we confirm that after the dynamical mass ejection, which drives the fast tail and mildly relativistic components, the post-merger mass ejection from the massive torus takes place due to the magnetorotational instability-driven turbulent viscosity and the two ejecta components are seen in the distributions of the electron fraction and velocity with distinct features.

As a follow-up study of our previous work, numerical-relativity simulations for seconds-long black hole-neutron star mergers are performed for a variety of setups. Irrespective of the initial and symmetry conditions, we find qualitatively universal evolution processes: The dynamical mass ejection takes place together with a massive accretion disk formation after the neutron star is tidally disrupted; Subsequently, the magnetic field in the accretion disk is amplified by the magnetic winding, Kelvin-Helmholtz instability, and magnetorotational instability, which establish a turbulent state inducing the dynamo and angular momentum transport; The post-merger mass ejection by the effective viscous processes stemming from the magnetohydrodynamics turbulence sets in at $\sim300$-$500$ ms after the merger and continues for several hundred ms; A magnetosphere near the black-hole spin axis is developed and the collimated strong Poynting flux is generated with its lifetime of $\sim0.5$-$2$ s. We have newly found that the model of no equatorial-plane symmetry shows the reverse of the magnetic-field polarity in the magnetosphere, which is caused by the dynamo associated with the magnetorotational instability in the accretion disk. The model with initially toroidal fields shows the tilt of the disk and magnetosphere in the late post-merger stage because of the anisotropic post-merger mass ejection. These effects could terminate the strong Poynting-luminosity stage within the timescale of $\sim0.5$-$2$ s.

We study numerically the scalar wave emission by a non-spherical oscillation of neutron stars in a scalar-tensor theory of gravity with kinetic screening, considering both the monopole and quadrupole mode emission. In agreement with previous results in the literature, we find that the monopole is always suppressed by the screening effect, regardless of the size of the screening radius, $r_{\rm sc}$. For the quadrupole mode, however, our analysis shows that the suppression only occurs for screening radius larger than the wavelength of scalar waves, $λ_{\rm wave}$, but not for $r_{\rm sc} < λ_{\rm wave}$. This demonstrates that to fully understand the nature of this theory, it is necessary to study other more complex systems, such as neutron star binaries, considering a wide range of $r_{\rm sc}$ values.

We develop a new relativistic radiation hydrodynamics code based on the Monte-Carlo algorithm. In this code, we implement a new scheme to achieve the second-order accuracy in time in the limit of a large packet number for solving the interaction between matter and radiation. This higher-order time integration scheme is implemented in the manner to guarantee the energy-momentum conservation to the precision of the geodesic integrator. The spatial dependence of radiative processes, such as the packet propagation, emission, absorption, and scattering, are also taken into account up to the second-order accuracy. We validate our code by solving various test-problems following the previous studies; one-zone thermalization, dynamical diffusion, radiation dragging, radiation mediated shock-tube, shock-tube in the optically thick limit, and Eddington limit problems. We show that our code reproduces physically appropriate results with reasonable accuracy and also demonstrate that the second-order accuracy in time and space is indeed achieved with our implementation for one-zone and one-dimensional problems.

We find that [OIII] outflow that is expected to be driven by AGN tends to be stronger (i) towards the galactic center and (ii) as a sequence of merger stage. In particular, the outflow strength in the late-stage (stage D) mergers is about 1.5 times stronger than that in the early-state (stage B) mergers, which indicates that galaxy mergers could induce AGN-driven outflow and play an important role in the co-evolution of galaxies and supermassive black holes.

An autonomous mobile robot system consisting of many mobile computational entities (called robots) attracts much attention of researchers, and to clarify the relation between the capabilities of robots and solvability of the problems is an emerging issue for a recent couple of decades. Generally, each robot can observe all other robots as long as there are no restrictions for visibility range or obstructions, regardless of the number of robots. In this paper, we provide a new perspective on the observation by robots; a robot cannot necessarily observe all other robots regardless of distances to them. We call this new computational model defected view model. Under this model, in this paper, we consider the gathering problem that requires all the robots to gather at the same point and propose two algorithms to solve the gathering problem in the adversarial ($N$,$N-2$)-defected model for $N \geq 5$ (where each robot observes at most $N-2$ robots chosen adversarially) and the distance-based (4,2)-defected model (where each robot observes at most 2 closest robots to itself) respectively, where $N$ is the number of robots. Moreover, we present an impossibility result showing that there is no (deterministic) gathering algorithm in the adversarial or distance-based (3,1)-defected model. Moreover, we show an impossibility result for the gathering in a relaxed ($N$, $N-2$)-defected model.

Given an increasing number of gamma-ray bursts accompanied by potential kilonovae there is a growing importance to advance modelling of kilonova afterglows. In this work, we investigate how the presence of two electron populations that follow a Maxwellian (thermal) and a power-law (non-thermal) distributions affect kilonova afterglow light curves. We employ semi-analytic afterglow model, $\texttt{PyBlastAfterglow}$. We consider kilonova ejecta profiles from ab-initio numerical relativity binary neutron star merger simulations, targeted to GW170817. We do not perform model selection. We find that the emission from thermal electrons dominates at early times. If the interstellar medium density is high (${\simeq}0.1\,\ccm$) it adds an early time peak to the light curve. As ejecta decelerates the spectral and temporal indexes change in a characteristic way that, if observed, can be used to reconstruct the ejecta velocity distribution. For the low interstellar medium density, inferred for GRB 170817A, the emission from the non-thermal electron population generally dominates. We also assess how kilonova afterglow light curves change if the interstellar medium has been partially removed and pre-accelerated by laterally expanding gamma-ray burst ejecta. We find that the main effect is the emission suppression at early time ${\lesssim}10^{3}\,$days, and at its maximum it reaches ${\sim}40\%$ when the fast tail of the kilonova ejecta moves subsonically through the wake of laterally spreading gamma-ray burst ejecta. The subsequent rebrightening, when these ejecta break through and shocks form, is very mild (${\lesssim}10\%$), and may not be observable.

The PHENIX experiment reports systematic measurements at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider of $φ$-meson production in asymmetric Cu$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}$=200 GeV and in U$+$U collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}$=193 GeV. Measurements were performed via the $φ\rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}$ decay channel at midrapidity $|η|<0.35$. Features of $φ$-meson production measured in Cu$+$Cu, Cu$+$Au, Au$+$Au, and U$+$U collisions were found to not depend on the collision geometry, which was expected because the yields are averaged over the azimuthal angle and follow the expected scaling with nuclear-overlap size. The elliptic flow of the $φ$ meson in Cu$+$Au, Au$+$Au, and U$+$U collisions scales with second-order-participant eccentricity and the length scale of the nuclear-overlap region (estimated with the number of participating nucleons). At moderate $p_T$, $φ$-meson production measured in Cu$+$Au and U$+$U collisions is consistent with coalescence-model predictions, whereas at high $p_T$ the production is in agreement with expectations for in-medium energy loss of parent partons prior to their fragmentation. The elliptic flow for $φ$ mesons measured in Cu$+$Au and U$+$U collisions is well described by a (2+1)D viscous-hydrodynamic model with specific-shear viscosity $η/s=1/4π$.

By performing general relativistic hydrodynamics simulations with an approximate neutrino-radiation transfer, the properties of ejecta in dynamical and post-merger phases are investigated for the cases in which the remnant massive neutron star collapses into a black hole in $\lesssim 20$ ms after the onset of the merger. The dynamical mass ejection is investigated in three-dimensional simulations. The post-merger mass ejection is investigated in two-dimensional axisymmetric simulations with viscosity using the three-dimensional post-merger systems as the initial conditions. We show that the typical neutron-richness of the dynamical ejecta is higher for the merger of more asymmetric binaries; hence, heavier $r$-process nuclei are dominantly synthesized. The post-merger ejecta are shown to have only a mild neutron-richness, which results in the production of lighter $r$-process nuclei, irrespective of binary mass ratios. Because of the larger disk mass, the post-merger ejecta mass is larger for more asymmetric binary mergers. Thus, the post-merger ejecta can compensate for the underproduced lighter $r$-process nuclei for asymmetric merger cases. As a result, by summing up both ejecta components, the solar residual $r$-process pattern is reproduced within the average deviation of a factor of three, irrespective of the binary mass ratio. Our result also indicates that the (about a factor of a few) light-to-heavy abundance scatter observed in $r$-process-enhanced stars can be attributed to variation in the binary mass ratio and total mass. Implications of our results associated with the mass distribution of compact neutron star binaries and the magnetar scenario of short gamma-ray bursts are discussed.

We implement advanced Riemann solvers HLLC and HLLD \cite{Mignone:2005ft,MUB:2009} together with an advanced constrained transport scheme \cite{Gardiner:2007nc} in a numerical-relativity neutrino-radiation magnetohydrodynamics code. We validate our implementation by performing a series of one- and multi-dimensional test problems for relativistic hydrodynamics and magnetohydrodynamics in both Minkowski spacetime and a static black hole spacetime. We find that the numerical solutions with the advanced Riemann solvers are more accurate than those with the HLLE solver \cite{DelZanna:2002rv}, which was originally implemented in our code. As an application to numerical relativity, we simulate an asymmetric binary neutron star merger leading to a short-lived massive neutron star both with and without magnetic fields. We find that the lifetime of the rotating massive neutron star formed after the merger and also the amount of the tidally-driven dynamical ejecta are overestimated when we employ the diffusive HLLE solver. We also find that the magnetorotational instability is less resolved when we employ the HLLE solver because of the solver's large numerical diffusivity. This causes a spurious enhancement both of magnetic winding resulting from large scale poloidal magnetic fields, and also of the energy of the outflow induced by magnetic pressure.

Polarized proton-proton collisions provide leading-order access to gluons, presenting an opportunity to constrain gluon spin-momentum correlations within transversely polarized protons and enhance our understanding of the three-dimensional structure of the proton. Midrapidity open-heavy-flavor production at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV is dominated by gluon-gluon fusion, providing heightened sensitivity to gluon dynamics relative to other production channels. Transverse single-spin asymmetries of positrons and electrons from heavy-flavor hadron decays are measured at midrapidity using the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. These charge-separated measurements are sensitive to gluon correlators that can in principle be related to gluon orbital angular momentum via model calculations. Explicit constraints on gluon correlators are extracted for two separate models, one of which had not been constrained previously.

A displaced-vertex analysis with the PHENIX silicon-vertex detector enables extraction of the fraction of charm and bottom hadron decays and unfolding of the invariant yield of parent charm and bottom hadrons. The nuclear-modification factors $R_{AA}$ for electrons from charm and bottom hadron decays and heavy-flavor hadrons show both a centrality and a quark-mass dependence, indicating suppression in the quark-gluon plasma produced in these collisions that is medium sized and quark-mass dependent.

The measurement of direct photons from Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=39$ and 62.4 GeV in the transverse-momentum range $0.4<p_T<3$ Gev/$c$ is presented by the PHENIX collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. A significant direct-photon yield is observed in both collision systems. A universal scaling is observed when the direct-photon $p_T$ spectra for different center-of-mass energies and for different centrality selections at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=62.4$ GeV is scaled with $(dN_{\rm ch}/dη)^α$ for $α=1.21{\pm}0.04$. This scaling also holds true for direct-photon spectra from Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV measured earlier by PHENIX, as well as the spectra from Pb$+$Pb at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=2760$ GeV published by ALICE. The scaling power $α$ seems to be independent of $p_T$, center of mass energy, and collision centrality. The spectra from different collision energies have a similar shape up to $p_T$ of 2 GeV/$c$. The spectra have a local inverse slope $T_{\rm eff}$ increasing with $p_T$ of $0.174\pm0.018$ GeV/$c$ in the range $0.4<p_T<1.3$ GeV/$c$ and increasing to $0.289\pm0.024$ GeV/$c$ for $0.9<p_T<2.1$ GeV/$c$. The observed similarity of low-$p_T$ direct-photon production from $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}= 39$ to 2760 GeV suggests a common source of direct photons for the different collision energies and event centrality selections, and suggests a comparable space-time evolution of direct-photon emission.

Rev. C {\bf 105}, 024901 (2022)]. This paper extends these measurements of $v_2$ to all centralities in $p$$+$Au, $d$$+$Au, and $^3$He$+$Au collisions, as well as $p$$+$$p$ collisions, as a function of transverse momentum ($p_T$) and event multiplicity. The kinematic dependence of $v_2$ is quantified as the ratio $R$ of $v_2$ between the two detector combinations as a function of event multiplicity for $0.5$$<$$p_T$$<$$1$ and $2$$<$$p_T$$<$$2.5$ GeV/$c$. A multiphase-transport (AMPT) model can reproduce the observed $v_2$ in most-central to midcentral $d$$+$Au and $^3$He$+$Au collisions. However, the AMPT model systematically overestimates the measurements in $p$$+$$p$, $p$$+$Au, and peripheral $d$$+$Au and $^3$He$+$Au collisions, indicating a higher nonflow contribution in AMPT than in the experimental data. The AMPT model fails to describe the observed $R$ for $0.5$$<$$p_T$$<$$1$ GeV/$c$, but there is qualitative agreement with the measurements for $2$$<$$p_T$$<$$2.5$ GeV/$c$.
