Axionic domain walls at Pulsar Timing Arrays: QCD bias and particle friction
Abstract: The recent results from the Pulsar Timing Array (PTA) collaborations show the first evidence for the detection of a stochastic background of gravitational waves at the nHz frequencies. This discovery has profound implications for the physics of both the late and the early Universe. In fact, together with the possible interpretation in terms of super massive black hole binaries, many sources in the… ▽ More

Unifying Approaches to Chiral Bosons
Abstract: Chiral bosons, or self-dual p-form fields, are ubiquitous in string theoretic contexts but are challenging to treat. Lagrangian constructions invariably introduce a complexity be it auxiliary fields or sacrificing Lorentz invariance. Friction on ALP domain walls and gravitational waves

Probing Early Universe Supercooled Phase Transitions with Gravitational Wave Data
Abstract: We investigate the reach of the LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA detectors in the search for signatures of first-order phase transitions in the early Universe. Doubled space and extended supersymmetry
Abstract: The doubled formulation of the worldsheet provides a description of string theory in which T-duality is promoted to a manifest symmetry. Here we extend this approach to $\mathcal{N}=(2,2)$ superspace providing a doubled formulation for bi-Hermitian/generalised Kähler target spaces. Baryogenesis via relativistic bubble expansion
Abstract: We present a novel baryogenesis mechanism in which the asymmetry is sourced from heavy particles which either gain their mass or are created during bubble expansion in a strong first order phase transition. The particles are inherently out-of-equilibrium and sufficiently dilute after wall crossing so the third Sa… ▽ More

D-branes in $λ$-deformations
Abstract: We show that the geometric interpretation of D-branes in WZW models as twisted conjugacy classes persists in the $λ$--deformed theory. Deformations of Chiral Two-Forms in Six Dimensions
Abstract: Motivated by a system consisting of a number of parallel M5-branes, we study possible local deformations of a chiral two-form in six dimensions. Working to first order in the coupling constant, this reduces to the study of the local BRST cohomological group at ghost number zero. We obtain an exhaustive list of all possible deformations. None of them allows for a satisfactory formulation of the M… ▽ More

Properties of Semi-Chiral Superfields
Abstract: Whenever the N=(2,2) supersymmetry algebra of non-linear sigma-models in two dimensions does not close off-shell, a holomorphic two-form can be defined. The only known superfields providing candidate auxiliary fields to achieve an off-shell formulation are semi-chiral fields. Such a semi-chiral description is only possible when the two-form is constant. Using an explicit example, hyper-Kahler ma… ▽ More

Dilaton transformation under abelian and non-abelian T-duality in the path integral approach
Abstract: We present a convenient method for deriving the transformation of the dilaton under T-duality in the path-integral approach. Subtleties arising in performing the integral over the gauge fields are carefully analysed using Pauli-Villars regularization, thereby clarifying existing ambiguities in the literature. The formalism can not only be applied to the abelian case, but, and this for the first… ▽ More

The M-Theory Two-Brane in AdS_4 x S^7 and AdS_7 x S^4
Abstract: We construct the supermembrane action in an AdS_4 x S^7 and AdS_7 x S^4 background to all orders in anticommuting coordinates. The result is compared to and agrees completely with results obtained earlier for generic supergravity backgrounds through gauge completion at low orders in θ.

Geometry and beta-functions for N=2 matter models in two dimensions
Abstract: We study renormalizable nonlinear sigma-models in two dimensions with N=2 supersymmetry described in superspace in terms of chiral and complex linear superfields. The geometrical structure of the underlying manifold is investigated and the one-loop divergent contribution to the effective action is computed. The condition of vanishing beta-function allows to identify a class of models which satis… ▽ More
