We develop methods to solve general optimal stop** problems with opportunities to stop that arrive randomly. Such problems occur naturally in applications with market frictions. Pivotal to our approach is that our methods operate on random rather than deterministic time scales. This enables us to convert the original problem into an equivalent discrete-time optimal stop** problem with $\mathbb{N}_{0}$-valued stop** times and a possibly infinite horizon. To numerically solve this problem, we design a random times least squares Monte Carlo method. We also analyze an iterative policy improvement procedure in this setting. We illustrate the efficiency of our methods and the relevance of randomly arriving opportunities in a few examples.

We develop a method to solve, theoretically and numerically, general optimal stop** problems. Our general setting allows for multiple exercise rights, i.e., optimal multiple stop**, for a robust evaluation that accounts for model uncertainty, and for general reward processes driven by multi-dimensional jump-diffusions. Our approach relies on first establishing robust martingale dual representation results for the multiple stop** problem that satisfy appealing pathwise optimality (i.e., almost sure) properties. Next, we exploit these theoretical results to develop upper and lower bounds that, as we formally show, not only converge to the true solution asymptotically, but also constitute genuine pre-limiting upper and lower bounds. We illustrate the applicability of our approach in a few examples and analyze the impact of model uncertainty on optimal multiple stop** strategies.

Secure equilibrium is a refinement of Nash equilibrium, which provides some security to the players against deviations when a player changes his strategy to another best response strategy. The concept of secure equilibrium is specifically developed for assume-guarantee synthesis and has already been applied in this context. Yet, not much is known about its existence in games with more than two players. In this paper, we establish the existence of secure equilibrium in two classes of multi-player perfect information turn-based games: (1) in games with possibly probabilistic transitions, having countable state and finite action spaces and bounded and continuous payoff functions, and (2) in games with only deterministic transitions, having arbitrary state and action spaces and Borel payoff functions with a finite range (in particular, qualitative Borel payoff functions). We show that these results apply to several types of games studied in the literature.

Abstract:
We develop a multi-factor stochastic volatility Libor model with displacement, where each individual forward Libor is driven by its own square-root stochastic volatility process. The main advantage of this approach is that, maturity-wise, each square-root process can be calibrated to the corresponding cap(let)vola-strike panel at the market. However, since even after freezing the Libors in the dri…

However, since even after freezing the Libors in the drift of this model, the Libor dynamics are not affine, new affine approximations have to be developed in order to obtain Fourier based (approximate) pricing procedures for caps and swaptions. As a result, we end up with a Libor modeling package that allows for efficient calibration to a complete system of cap/swaption market quotes that performs well even in crises times, where structural breaks in vola-strike-maturity panels are typically observed.
