The Spinless Relativistic Hellmann Problem
Abstract: We compile some easily deducible information on the discrete eigenvalue spectra of spinless Salpeter equations encompassing, besides a relativistic kinetic term, interactions which are expressible as superpositions of an attractive Coulomb potential and an either attractive or repulsive Yukawa potential and, hence, generalizations of the Hellmann potential employed in several areas of science. Goldstonic pseudoscalar mesons in Bethe-Salpeter-inspired setting

Instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter Look at the Lightest Pseudoscalar Mesons
Abstract: Within our description of Goldstone-type pseudoscalar mesons as almost massless bound states of quark and antiquark by a three-dimensional bound-state equation of Bethe-Salpeter origin, taking into account the pointwise behaviour of the full light-quark propagators enables to characterize the effective interquark interactions more precisely than earlier studies exploiting just specific aspects.

Light Pseudoscalar Mesons in Bethe-Salpeter Equation with Instantaneous Interaction

Numerical Solution of the Spinless Salpeter Equation by a Semianalytical Matrix Method (a Mathematica 4.0 routine)
Abstract: In quantum theory, the so-called "spinless Salpeter equation," the relativistic generalization of the nonrelativistic Schroedinger equation, is used to describe both bound states of scalar particles and the spin-averaged spectra of bound states of fermions. A numerical procedure solves the spinless Salpeter equation by approximating this eigenvalue equation by a matrix eigenvalue problem with ex… ▽ More

Comment on "Calculation of the Quarkonium Spectrum and m(b), m(c) to Order alpha(s)**4"
Abstract: A recent determination of the mass of the b quark, based exclusively on quantum chromodynamics (by avoiding strictly to introduce any phenomenological interaction potential of nonperturbative origin), may be improved by allowing for a merely numerical solution of the corresponding eigenvalue problem.

Accuracy of Approximate Eigenstates
Abstract: Besides perturbation theory, which requires, of course, the knowledge of the exact unperturbed solution, variational techniques represent the main tool for any investigation of the eigenvalue problem of some semibounded operator H in quantum theory. For a reasonable choice of the employed trial subspace of the domain of H, the lowest eigenvalues of H usually can be located with acceptable precis… ▽ More

The One-Dimensional Spinless Relativistic Coulomb Problem
Abstract: Motivated by a recent analysis which presents explicitly the general solution, we consider the eigenvalue problem of the spinless Salpeter equation with a ("hard-core amended") Coulomb potential in one dimension. We prove the existence of a critical coupling constant (which contradicts the assertions of the previous analysis) and give analytic upper bounds on the energy eigenvalues. These upper… ▽ More

Bound States by the Spinless Salpeter Equation
Abstract: In quantum theory, bound states are described by eigenvalue equations, which usually cannot be solved exactly. However, some simple general theorems allow to derive rigorous statements about the corresponding solutions, that is, energy levels and wave functions. These theorems are applied to the prototype of all relativistic wave equations, the spinless Salpeter equation.

Semirelativistic Treatment of Bound States
Abstract: This talk reviews several aspects of the "semirelativistic" description of bound states by the spinless Salpeter equation (which represents the simplest equation of motion incorporating relativistic effects) and, in particular, presents or recalls some very simple and elementary methods which allow to derive rigorous statements on the corresponding solutions, that is, on energy levels as well as… ▽ More

Solving the Schroedinger equation for bound states with Mathematica 3.0
Abstract: Using Mathematica 3.0, the Schroedinger equation for bound states is solved. The method of solution is based on a numerical integration procedure together with convexity arguments and the nodal theorem for wave functions. The interaction potential has to be spherically symmetric. The solving procedure is simply defined as some Mathematica function. The output is the energy eigenvalue and the red… ▽ More

Spinless Salpeter Equation: Laguerre Bounds on Energy Levels
Abstract: The spinless Salpeter equation may be considered either as a standard approximation to the Bethe--Salpeter formalism, designed for the description of bound states within a relativistic quantum field theory, or as the most simple, to a certain extent relativistic generalization of the costumary nonrelativistic Schrödinger formalism. Because of the presence of the rather difficult-to-handle square… ▽ More

Relativistic Coulomb Problem: Energy Levels at the Critical Coupling Constant Analytically
Abstract: The Hamiltonian of the spinless relativistic Coulomb problem combines the standard Coulomb interaction potential with the square-root operator of relativistic kinematics. This Hamiltonian is known to be bounded from below up to some well-defined critical coupling constant. At this critical coupling constant, however, the differences between all analytically obtainable upper bounds on the corresp… ▽ More
