General and Special Projectivity Groups in Spherical Buildings of Simply Laced Type
Abstract: We introduce the special and general projectivity groups attached to simplices F of spherical buildings and study those in the simply laced irreducible thick case. If the residue of F is irreducible, we determine the permutation group of the projectivity groups of F acting on the residue of F. This pins down the exact structure and action of the Levi complement of the corresponding parabolic subgr… ▽ More

Bounding deformation spaces of Kleinian groups with two generators
Abstract: In this article we provide simple and provable bounds on the size and shape of the quasiconformal deformation space of the groups $\IZ_p*\IZ_q$, the free product of cyclic groups of order $p$ and $q$, in $\PSL(2,\IC)$ for $3\leq p,q \leq \infty$. Lifting subgroups of $\mathrm{PSL}_2$ to $\mathrm{SL}_2$ over local fields
Abstract: Let $K$ be a non-archimedean local field. We show that discrete subgroups without 2-torsion in $\mathrm{PSL}_2(K)$ can always be lifted to $\mathrm{SL}_2(K)$, and provide examples (when $\mathrm{char}(K) \neq 2$) which cannot be lifted if either of these conditions is removed. We also briefly discuss lifting representations of groups into $\mathrm{PSL}_2(K)$ to $\mathrm{SL}_2(K)$.

Distances between fixed-point sets in 2-dimensional Euclidean buildings are realised
Abstract: We prove that if two finitely generated groups act on a metrically complete 2-dimensional Euclidean building, then the distance between their fixed-point sets is realised. Our proof uses the geometry of Euclidean buildings, which we view as CAT(0) spaces, and properties of ultrapowers of Euclidean buildings.

Concrete one complex dimensional moduli spaces of hyperbolic manifolds and orbifolds
Abstract: The Riley slice is arguably the simplest example of a moduli space of Kleinian groups; it is naturally embedded in $ \mathbb{C} $, and has a natural coordinate system (introduced by Linda Keen and Caroline Series in the early 1990s) which reflects the geometry of the underlying 3-manifold deformations. A strong Schottky lemma on $n$ generators for $\mathrm{CAT}(0)$ spaces
Abstract: We give a criterion for a set of $n$ hyperbolic isometries of a $\mathrm{CAT}(0)$ metric space $X$ to generate a free group on $n$ generators. This extends a result by Alperin, Farb and Noskov who proved this for 2 generators under the additional assumption that $X$ is complete and has no fake zero angles. Moreover, when $X$ is locally compact, the group we obtain is also discrete.
