A note on the Voigt profile function
Abstract: A Voigt profile function emerges in several physical investigations (e.g. atmospheric radiative transfer, astrophysical spectroscopy, plasma waves and acoustics) and it turns out to be the convolution of the Gaussian and the Lorentzian densities. Its relation with a number of special functions has been widely derived in literature starting from its Fourier type integral representation. The main… ▽ More

Solutions of fractional reaction-diffusion equations in terms of Mittag-Leffler functions
Abstract: This paper deals with the solution of unified fractional reaction-diffusion systems. The results are obtained in compact and elegant forms in terms of Mittag-Leffler functions and generalized Mittag-Leffler functions, which are suitable for numerical computation. On account of the most general character of the derived results, numerous results on fractional reaction, fractional diffusion, and fr… ▽ More

Solutions of certain fractional kinetic equations and a fractional diffusion equation
Abstract: In view of the usefulness and importance of the kinetic equation in certain physical problems, the authors derive the explicit solution of a fractional kinetic equation of general character, that unifies and extends earlier results. Further, an alternative shorter method based on a result developed by the authors is given to derive the solution of a fractional diffusion equation.

Solutions of fractional reaction-diffusion equations in terms of the H-function
Abstract: This paper deals with the investigation of the solution of an unified fractional reaction-diffusion equation associated with the Caputo derivative as the time-derivative and Riesz-Feller fractional derivative as the space-derivative. The solution is derived by the application of the Laplace and Fourier transforms in closed form in terms of the H-function. The results derived are of general natur… ▽ More

Solution of generalized fractional reaction-diffusion equations
Abstract: This paper deals with the investigation of a closed form solution of a generalized fractional reaction-diffusion equation. The solution of the proposed problem is developed in a compact form in terms of the H-function by the application of direct and inverse Laplace and Fourier transforms. Fractional order moments and the asymptotic expansion of the solution are also obtained.

Reaction-diffusion systems and nonlinear waves
Abstract: The authors investigate the solution of a nonlinear reaction-diffusion equation connected with nonlinear waves. The equation discussed is more general than the one discussed recently by Manne, Hurd, and Kenkre (2000). The results are presented in a compact and elegant form in terms of Mittag-Leffler functions and generalized Mittag-Leffler functions, which are suitable for numerical computation.… ▽ More

Fractional reaction-diffusion equations
Abstract: In a series of papers, Saxena, Mathai, and Haubold (2002, 2004a, 2004b) derived solutions of a number of fractional kinetic equations in terms of generalized Mittag-Leffler functions which provide the extension of the work of Haubold and Mathai (1995, 2000). Boltzmann-Gibbs Entropy Versus Tsallis Entropy: Recent Contributions to Resolving the Argument of Einstein Concerning "Neither Herr Boltzmann nor Herr Planck has given a definition of W"?
Abstract: Classical statistical mechanics of macroscopic systems in equilibrium is based on Boltzmann's principle. Tsallis has proposed a generalization of Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics. Its relation to dynamics and nonextensivity of statistical systems are matters of intense investigation and debate. This essay review has been prepared at the occasion of awarding the 'Mexico Prize for Science and Technology… ▽ More

Astrophysical Thermonuclear Functions for Boltzmann-Gibbs Statistics and Tsallis Statistics
Abstract: We present an analytic proof of the integrals for astrophysical thermonuclear functions which are derived on the basis of Boltzmann-Gibbs statistical mechanics. Among the four different cases of astrophysical thermonuclear functions, those with a depleted high-energy tail and a cut-off at high energies find a natural interpretation in q-statistics.

Unified Fractional Kinetic Equation and a Fractional Diffusion Equation
Abstract: In earlier papers Saxena et al. The object of the present paper is to investigate the solution of a unified form of fractional kinetic equation in which the free term contains any integrable function f(t), which prov… ▽ More

Expansions of _4F_3 when the upper parameters differ by integers
Abstract: In this article three expansion formulas for a generalized hypergeometric function $_4F_3$ are derived, when its upper parameters differ by integers. Though the results are special cases of a general continuation formula for $_pF_q$, they are sufficiently general and unify a number of known results.

Electron-Phonon Driven Spin Frustration in Multi-Band Hubbard Models: MX Chains and Oxide Superconductors
Abstract: We discuss the consequences of both electron-phonon and electron-electron couplings in 1D and 2D multi-band (Peierls-Hubbard) models. After briefly discussing various analytic limits, we focus on (Hartree-Fock and exact) numerical studies in the intermediate regime for both couplings, where unusual spin-Peierls as well as long-period, frustrated ground states are found.
