We study linear perturbations against static spherically symmetric background configurations of General Relativity with a real scalar field (SF), which is minimally coupled with gravity; it is non-linear due to the presence of the self-action potential. The background solutions have a naked singularity at the center of the configuration. The focus is on the stability of the background and fundamental frequencies of the quasi-normal modes (QNM) of the axial perturbations in the Regge-Wheeler gauge. The problem is reduced to one hyperbolic master equation with an effective potential $W_{\rm eff}$, which turns out to be positive for a general non-negative SF potential; this ensures the linear stability with respect to this kind of perturbations.
For numerical simulations, the SF potential was chosen in the power-law form $V(φ)\simφ^{2n}$ with $2<n\le 40$. We extracted the fundamental frequencies of QNM for different $n$ and various sets of the background configuration parameters. The results show that even for a small background SF, there is a significant difference between the fundamental frequencies and ones in case of the Schwarzschild background. The results are also compared with the case of the Fisher-Janis-Newman-Winicour background dealing with a massless linear scalar field.

We study self-gravitating multi-pion systems (pion stars) in a state of the Bose condensate. To ensure stability of such stars, it is assumed that they are immersed in the lepton background. Two different phenomenological equations of state (EoS) for the pion matter are used, some of them having the first order phase transition. The model parameters are chosen to reproduce the recent lattice QCD data at zero temperature and large isospin chemical potential. It is shown that the mass-radius diagrams of pion stars obtained with phenomenological EoS are close to ones calculated in the ideal gas model. We analyze properties of neutrino clouds which are necessary for stabilizing the pion stars.

The Bose-Einstein condensation and the liquid-gas first order phase transition are studied in the interacting pion matter. Two phenomenological models are used: the mean-field model and the hybrid model. Free model parameters are fixed by fitting the lattice QCD data on the pion Bose condensate density at zero temperature. In spite of some minor differences the two model demonstrate an identical qualitative and very close quantitative behavior for the thermodynamic functions and electric charge fluctuations. A peculiar property of the considered models is an intersection of the Bose-Einstein condensation line and the line of the first order phase transition at the critical end point.

Equation of state and electric (isospin) charge fluctuations are studied for matter composed of interacting pions. The pion matter is described by self interacting scalar fields via a $φ^4-φ^6$ type Lagrangian. The mean-field approximation is used, and interaction parameters are fixed by fitting lattice QCD results on the isospin density as a function of the isospin chemical potential at zero temperature. Two scenarios for fixing the model parameters -- with and without the first order phase transition -- are considered, both yielding a satisfactory description of the lattice data. Thermodynamic functions and isospin charge fluctuations are studied and systematically compared for these two scenarios, yielding qualitative differences in the behavior of isospin charge susceptibilities. These differences can be probed by lattice simulations at temperatures $T \lesssim 100$ MeV.

Thermodynamics properties of an interacting system of bosons are considered at finite temperatures and zero chemical potential within the Skyrme-like mean-field model. An interplay between attractive and repulsive interactions is investigated. As a particular example an equilibrium system of pions is discussed. Several modifications of thermodynamic properties in the considered system are found with increasing a strength of attractive forces. Different types of the first order phase transition are classified. Some of these transitions exist also in the Boltzmann approximation. However, effects of the Bose statistics introduce the notable additional changes in the thermodynamic quantities due to a possibility of the Bose-Einstein condensation.
