In this study, we explore the impact of an additional dimension, as proposed in Kaluza-Klein's theory, on the Casimir effect within the context of Lorentz invariance violation (LIV), which is represented by the ``aether field''. We demonstrate that the Casimir energy is directly influenced by the presence of the fifth dimension, as well as by the aether parameter. Consequently, the force between the plates is also subject to variations of these parameters. Furthermore, we examine constraints on both the size of the extra dimension and the aether field parameter based on experimental data. The LIV parameter can provide insights into addressing the size-related challenges in Kaluza-Klein's theory and offers a mean to establish an upper limit on the size of the extra dimension. This helps to rationalize the difficulties associated with its detection in current experiments.

In addition, the instrument optical design and hardware configuration support the search for Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs). In this work, we propose the use of a BINGO Interferometry System (BIS) including new auxiliary, smaller, radio telescopes (hereafter \emph{outriggers}). The interferometric approach makes it possible to pinpoint the FRB sources in the sky. We present here the results of several BIS configurations combining BINGO horns with and without mirrors ($4$ m, $5$ m, and $6$ m) and 5, 7, 9, or 10 for single horns. We developed a new {\tt Python} package, the {\tt FRBlip}, which generates synthetic FRB mock catalogs and computes, based on a telescope model, the observed signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) that we used to compute numerically the detection rates of the telescopes and how many interferometry pairs of telescopes (\emph{baselines}) can observe an FRB. FRBs observed by more than one baseline are the ones whose location can be determined. We thus evaluate the performance of BIS regarding FRB localization. We found that BIS will be able to localize 23 FRBs yearly with single horn outriggers in the best configuration (using 10 outriggers of 6 m mirrors), with redshift $z \leq 0.96$; the full localization capability depends on the number and the type of the outriggers. Wider beams are best to pinpoint FRB sources because potential candidates will be observed by more baselines, while narrow beams look deep in redshift. The BIS can be a powerful extension of the regular BINGO telescope, dedicated to observe hundreds of FRBs during Phase 1. Many of them will be well localized with a single horn + 6 m dish as outriggers.(Abridged)

In this work, we consider a propagating scalar field on Kaluza-Klein-type cosmological background. It is shown that this geometrical description of the Universe resembles - from a Hamiltonian standpoint - a damped harmonic oscillator with mass and frequency, both time-dependents. In this scenario, we construct the squeezed coherent states (SCSs) for the quantized scalar field by employing the invariant operator method of Lewis-Riesenfeld (non-Hermitian) in a non-unitary approach. The non-classicality of SCSs has been discussed by examining the quadrature squeezing properties from the uncertainty principle. Moreover, we compute the probability density, which allows us to investigate whether SCSs can be used to seek traces of extra dimensions. We then analyze the effects of the existence of supplementary space on cosmological particle production in SCSs by considering different cosmological eras.

Cosmological models involving scalar fields allow the description of this accelerated expansion regime in the Cosmos and present themselves as a promising alternative in the study of the inflationary eras, especially the actual one which is driven by the dark energy. In this work we use the $f(R, T) - Λ(φ)$ gravity to find different cosmological scenarios for our Universe. We also introduce a new path to derive analytic cosmological models which may have a non-trivial map** between $f$ and $T$. We show that the analytic cosmological models obtained with this approach are compatible with a good description of the radiation era. In addition, we investigated the inflationary scenario and obtained a good agreement for the scalar spectral index $n_s$. Concerning the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$, we found promising scenarios compatible with current CMB data.

A possible astrophysical object to be found in General Relativity is the wormhole. This special solution describes a topological bridge connecting points in two distinguished universes or two different points in the same universe. Despite it was never observed so far, is desired to find traversable wormholes, i.e. wormholes which have a throat at which there is no horizon. However, the traversable wormhole constraints yield solutions that violate all the energy conditions in General Relativity. In the last few years, several models to describe gravity beyond $Λ$CDM have been proposed. Then, it is relevant to look for wormhole solutions for these new theories. In this study, we are going to unveil new wormhole solutions for the so-called $f(Q,T)$ gravity. This theory of gravity is based on the non-metricity scalar $Q$, which is responsible for the gravitational interaction together with the energy-momentum trace $T$. We use the embedding procedure to find both the energy and the equilibrium conditions for the existence of wormholes. Then, the nontrivial contributions coming from $f(Q,T)$ gravity are embedded into the effective equations for density and pressures. We also considered the presence of exotic strange matter in the wormhole throat. Such a matter obeys the notorious MIT bag Model. We are going to present new scenarios confirming the viability of traversable wormholes in $f(Q,T)$ gravity with the strange matter, satisfying SEC and WEC energy conditions.

In this reply we show how the effective density and effective pressure found in the comment yield to the same Fridmann Equations presented in our article. Therefore, we claim that the comment only introduces an equivalent path to derive the Friedmann Equations and that the extra terms found by Avik De and L.T. How are consequence of their specific definition for their effective density and effective pressure. However, such terms do not change the equations for $ρ$ and $p$. Consequently, these extra terms are not going to change the energy constraints presented by us in Phys. Rev. D 102, 024057 (2020).

In this work, we are going to unveil new wormhole solutions for $f(Q)$ gravity where $Q$ is the non-metricity scalar, which is responsible for the gravitational interaction. The energy conditions to constraint these wormhole solutions were derived using the embedding procedure. This procedure consists of rewriting the density and the pressures of the solutions as those presented by General Relativity. Then, the nontrivial contributions coming from new theories of gravity are embedded into the effective equations for density and pressures. Along with our approach, we carefully analyze two families of $f(Q)$ models and we used two different shape functions to build the wormholes solutions for each of these $f(Q)$ models. We are going to present new scenarios with the possibility of traversable wormholes satisfying SEC or DEC energy conditions in the presence of exotic matter.

We study an isotropic flat FLRW-model in Scale-covariant theory of gravity $ f_{γδ}(φ) $ \cite{Canuto:1977zz} which is explained in terms of ordinary and covariant differentiation of scalar field $ φ$. As we know the deceleration parameter is time-dependent, so we consider the deceleration parameter $ q $ as the function of $ t $. Using this methodology, we find all the important cosmological factors in terms of a hyperbolic function of the cosmic time $ t $. In turn, we create the model having the behavior of the late-time universe, which is ever accelerated expanding and faces a Big Freeze at the end. The model shows the quintessence dark energy model from early to late times. We compute the constrained values of Hubble parameter $ H_0=70.979^{+0.021}_{-0.0043} $ and the model parameter $ n=1.24079^{+0.00015}_{-0.00079} $ using joint analysis of the $ OHD $ data of 77-points and Pantheon bin data. The model exhibits point-type singularity, beginning with a point of zero volume, infinite energy density, and temperature. Furthermore, we obtain the present deceleration parameter $ (q_0) \approx {-0.54} $. Also, we examine the ultimate behavior of our model by properly analyzing energy conditions, cosmographical parameters, and Statefinder diagnostic. Finally, the proposed model behaves like a quintessence dark energy model.

The measurement of diffuse 21-cm radiation from the hyperfine transition of neutral hydrogen (HI signal) in different redshifts is an important tool for modern cosmology. However, detecting this faint signal with non-cryogenic receivers in single-dish telescopes is a challenging task. The BINGO (Baryon Acoustic Oscillations from Integrated Neutral Gas Observations) radio telescope is an instrument designed to detect baryonic acoustic oscillations (BAOs) in the cosmological HI signal, in the redshift interval $0.127 \le z \le 0.449$. This paper describes the BINGO radio telescope, including the current status of the optics, receiver, observational strategy, calibration, and the site. BINGO has been carefully designed to minimize systematics, being a transit instrument with no moving dishes and 28 horns operating in the frequency range $980 \le ν\le 1260$ MHz. Comprehensive laboratory tests were conducted for many of the BINGO subsystems and the prototypes of the receiver chain, horn, polarizer, magic tees, and transitions have been successfully tested between 2018 - 2020. The survey was designed to cover $\sim 13\%$ of the sky, with the primary mirror pointing at declination $δ=-15^{\circ}$. The telescope will see an instantaneous declination strip of $14.75^{\circ}$. The results of the prototype tests closely meet those obtained during the modeling process, suggesting BINGO will perform according to our expectations. After one year of observations with a $60\%$ duty cycle and 28 horns, BINGO should achieve an expected sensitivity of 102 $μK$ per 9.33 MHz frequency channel, one polarization, and be able to measure the HI power spectrum in a competitive time frame.

Observations of the redshifted 21-cm line of neutral hydrogen (HI) are a new and powerful window of observation that offers us the possibility to map the spatial distribution of cosmic HI and learn about cosmology. BINGO (Baryon Acoustic Oscillations [BAO] from Integrated Neutral Gas Observations) is a new unique radio telescope designed to be one of the first to probe BAO at radio frequencies. BINGO has two science goals: cosmology and astrophysics. Cosmology is the main science goal and the driver for BINGO's design and strategy. The key of BINGO is to detect the low redshift BAO to put strong constraints in the dark sector models. Given the versatility of the BINGO telescope, a secondary goal is astrophysics, where BINGO can help discover and study Fast Radio Bursts (FRB) and other transients, Galactic and extragalactic science. In this paper, we introduce the latest progress of the BINGO project, its science goals, describing the scientific potential of the project in each science and the new developments obtained by the collaboration. We introduce the BINGO project and its science goals and give a general summary of recent developments in construction, science potential and pipeline development obtained by the BINGO collaboration in the past few years. We show that BINGO will be able to obtain competitive constraints for the dark sector, and also that will allow for the discovery of several FRBs in the southern hemisphere. The capacity of BINGO in obtaining information from 21-cm is also tested in the pipeline introduced here. There is still no measurement of the BAO in radio, and studying cosmology in this new window of observations is one of the most promising advances in the field. The BINGO project is a radio telescope that has the goal to be one of the first to perform this measurement and it is currently being built in the northeast of Brazil. (Abridged)

In this paper, we consider Lorentz Invariance Violation (LIV) in an acoustic spatially flat Friedman-Robertson-Walker (FRW) geometry. In particular, we are looking for the LIV effects in the stochastic motion of scalar and massive test particles. This motion is induced by a massless quantized scalar field on this geometry, which in turn is derived from an Abelian Higgs model with LIV. Deviations in the velocity dispersion of the particles proportional to the LIV parameter are found.

We are living in a golden age for experimental cosmology. New experiments with high accuracy precision are been used to constrain proposals of several theories of gravity, as it has been never done before. However, important roles to constrain new theories of gravity in a theoretical perspective are the energy conditions. Throughout this work, we carefully constrained some free parameters of two different families of $f(Q,T)$ gravity using different energy conditions. This theory of gravity combines the gravitation effects through the non-metricity scalar function $Q$, and manifestations from the quantum era of the Universe in the classical theory (due to the presence of the trace of the energy-momentum tensor $T$). Our investigation unveils the viability of $f(Q,T)$ gravity to describe the accelerated expansion our Universe passes through. Besides, one of our models naturally provides a phantom regime for dark energy and satisfies the dominant energy condition. The results here derived strength the viability of $f(Q,T)$ as a promising complete theory of gravity, lighting a new path towards the description of the dark sector of the Universe.

Such constraints establish the compatibility of a given theory with the causal and geodesic structure of space-time. In this work, we present a complete test of energy conditions for $f(Q)$ gravity models. The article presents modeling of inflationary scenarios for the first time in the $f(R,T)$ theory of gravity. We assume the $f(R,T)$ functional from to be $R + ηT$, where $R$ denotes the Ricci scalar, $T$ the trace of the energy-momentum tensor and $η$ the model parameter (constant). We first investigated an inflationary scenario where the inflation is driven purely due to geometric effects outside of GR. We found the inflation observables to be independent of the number of e-foldings in this setup. The computed value of the spectral index is consistent with latest Planck 2018 dataset while the scalar to tensor ratio is a bit higher. We then proceeded to analyze the behavior of an inflation driven by $f(R,T)$ gravity coupled with a real scalar field. By taking the slow-roll approximation, we generated interesting scenarios where a Klein Gordon potential leads to observationally consistent inflation observables. Our results makes it clear-cut that in addition to the Ricci scalar and scalar fields, the trace of energy momentum tensor also play a major role in driving inflationary scenarios.

We here propose to model active and cumulative cases data from COVID-19 by a continuous effective model based on a modified diffusion equation under Lifshitz scaling with a dynamic diffusion coefficient. The proposed model is rich enough to capture different aspects of a complex virus diffusion as humanity has been recently facing. The model being continuous it is bound to be solved analytically and/or numerically. So, we investigate two possible models where the diffusion coefficient associated with possible types of contamination are captured by some specific profiles. The active cases curves here derived were able to successfully describe the pandemic behavior of Germany and Spain. Moreover, we also predict some scenarios for the evolution of COVID-19 in Brazil. Furthermore, we depicted the cumulative cases curves of COVID-19, reproducing the spreading of the pandemic between the cities of São Paulo and São José dos Campos, Brazil. The scenarios also unveil how the lockdown measures can flatten the contamination curves. We can find the best profile of the diffusion coefficient that better fit the real data of pandemic.

This white paper summarizes the activities of the Brazilian community concerning dark matter physics and highlights the importance of financial support to Brazilian groups that are deeply involved in experimental endeavours. The flagships of the Brazilian dark matter program are the Cherenkov Telescope Array, DARKSIDE, SBN and LHC experiments, but we emphasize that smaller experiments such as DAMIC and CONNIE constitute important probes to dark sectors as well and should receive special attention. Small experimental projects showing the potential to probe new regions of parameter space of dark matter models are encouraged. On the theoretical and phenomenological side, some groups are devoted to astrophysical aspects such as the dark matter density profile while others explore the signature of dark matter models at colliders, direct and indirect detection experiments. In summary, the Brazilian dark matter community that was born not long ago has grown tremendously in the past years and now plays an important role in the hunt for a dark matter particle.

In this paper, we present the cosmological scenario obtained from $f(R,T)$ gravity by using an exponential dependence on the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. With a numerical approach applied to the equations of motion, we show several precise fits and the respective cosmological consequences. As a matter of completeness, we also analyzed cosmological scenarios where this new version of $f(R,T)$ is coupled with a real scalar field. In order to find analytical cosmological parameters, we used a slow-roll approximation for the evolution of the scalar field. This approximation allowed us to derived the Hubble and the deceleration parameters whose time evolutions describe the actual phase of accelerated expansion, and corroborate with our numerical investigations. Therefore, the analytical parameters unveil the viability of this proposal for $f(R,T)$ in the presence of an inflaton field.

The nature of gravity and its strength compared with other forces are fundamental challenges faced by the actual science. A path to understanding the hierarchy problem of gravity consists in adding an extra dimension to Einstein-Hilbert's general relativity. Therefore, gravity would be the only force leaking through this region of spacetime also known as brane. Despite the success of the mathematical description for the hierarchy issue through simple thin branes, it is also possible to derive a consistent theory of gravity using thick branes. The present work unveils a new procedure to determine analytic hybrid thick braneworld models. The discussions were based on the so-called Bloch branes, which are constructed via a two-field model coupled with gravity in 5-dimensional spacetime. Both fields used to build the Bloch branes depend only on the extra dimension, and the hybrid branes present internal structure, characterizing them as thick. In this work, we were able to derive new analytic thick brane models by using the extension method. Some of these new branes present a Minkowski spacetime immersed inside of the fifth-dimension. We showed how the symmetry of the emergent branes can be controlled via specific parameters. We also analyzed the stability conditions for each braneworld family, showing possible stable states for gravitons.

In this work, we apply the so-called BPS method in order to obtain topological defects for a complex scalar field Lagrangian introduced by Trullinger and Subbaswamy. The BPS approach led us to compute new analytical solutions for this model. In our investigation, we found analytical configurations which satisfy the BPS first-order differential equations but do not obey the equations of motion of the model. Such defects were named non-physical ones. In order to recover the physical meaning of these defects, we proposed a procedure which can transform them into BPS states of new scalar field models. The new models here founded were applied in the context of hybrid cosmological scenarios, where we derived cosmological parameters compatible with the observed Universe. Such a methodology opens a new window to connect different two scalar fields systems and can be implemented in several distinct applications such as Bloch Branes, Lorentz and Symmetry Breaking Scenarios, Q-Balls, Oscillons, Cosmological Contexts, and Condensed Matter Systems.

We show that those are in agreement with recent Planck observational data. We discuss the physical consequences of having $ρ_Λ(t)$ related to $φ$.

In order to overcome this problem we introduce a methodology to construct three-field models based on the so-called "extension method". The fundamental idea of the procedure is to combine three one-field systems in a non-trivial way, to construct an effective three scalar field model. An interesting scenario where the method can be implemented is within inflationary models, where the Einstein-Hilbert Lagrangian is coupled with the scalar field Lagrangian. We exemplify how a new model constructed from our method can lead to non-trivial behaviors for cosmological parameters.

Moreover, we work with a modified version of the BNRT model, which breaks the Z2 x Z2 symmetry of the original BNRT potential, coupled with the sine-Gordon and with the standard Z2 models. We show that our approach can be straightforwardly elevated to $N$ fields. All the computations are made analytically and some parameters restriction is put forward in order to get in touch with complete and realistic cosmological scenarios.

This paper shows a new approach to obtain analytical topological defects of a 2D Myers-Pospelov Lagrangian for two scalar fields. Such a Lagrangian presents higher-order kinetic terms, which lead us to equations of motion which are non-trivial to be integrated. Here we describe three possible scenarios for the equations of motion, named by timelike, spacelike and lightlike respectively. We started our investigation with a kink-like travelling wave Ansatz for the free theory, which led us to constraints for the dispersion relations of each scenario. We also introduced a procedure to obtain analytical solutions for the general theory in the three mentioned scenarios. We exemplified the procedure and discussed the behavior of the defect solutions carefully. It is remarkable that the methodology presented in this study led to analytical models, despite the complexity of the equations of motion derived from the 2D Myers-Pospelov Lagrangian. The methodology here tailored can be applied to several Lagrangians with higher-order derivative terms.

Recent elaborated by T. Harko and collaborators, the $f(R,T)$ theories of gravity contemplate an optimistic alternative to dark energy, for which $R$ and $T$ stand for the Ricci scalar and the trace of the energy-momentum tensor, respectively. Although the literature has shown that the $T$ dependence on the gravitational part of the action - which is due to the consideration of quantum effects - may induce some novel features in the scope of late-time cosmological dynamics, in the radiation-dominated universe, when $T=0$, no contributions seem to rise from such theories. Apparently, $f(R,T)$ contributions to a radiation-dominated universe may rise only from the $f(R,T^\varphi)$ approach, which is nothing but the $f(R,T)$ gravity in the case of a self-interacting scalar field whose trace of the energy-momentum tensor is $T^\varphi$. We intend, in this article, to show how $f(R,T^\varphi)$ theories of gravity can contribute to the study of the primordial stages of the universe. Our results predict a graceful exit from inflationary stage to a radiation-dominated era. They also predict a late-time cosmic acceleration after a matter-dominated phase, making the $f(R,T^\varphi)$ theories able to describe, in a self-consistent way, all the different stages of the universe dynamics.

One common approach for cosmic inflation consists in couple Einstein's gravity with a scalar field, often referred to inflaton field. In order to derive analytic simple scenarios, we usually work in the {\it slow-roll} regime. In such an approximation one considers the scalar field potentials to be nearly flat. It is possible to directly generalize such an approach for hybrid inflationary models, where the inflaton sector is composed of two or more scalar fields. However, the Friedmann equations and the equations of motion for such hybrid models are often hard to be analytically solved. Another recent path to describe cosmic inflation is through the so-called {\it fast-roll} regime, where one considers exactly flat potentials. Our purpose in this work is to obtain solutions for a hybrid inflaton model in the fast-roll regime. Cosmological interpretations through the behavior of Hubble, slow-roll, and equation of state parameters are also presented.

We study the Langevin equation with both a white noise and a colored noise. We construct the Lagrangian as well as the Hamiltonian for the generalized Langevin equation which leads naturally to a path integral description from first principles. This derivation clarifies the meaning of the additional fields introduced by Martin, Siggia and Rose in their functional formalism. We show that the transition amplitude, in this case, is the generating functional for correlation functions. We work out explicitly the correlation functions for the Markovian process of the Brownian motion of a free particle as well as for that of the non-Markovian process of the Brownian motion of a harmonic oscillator (Uhlenbeck-Ornstein model). The path integral description also leads to a simple derivation of the Fokker-Planck equation for the generalized Langevin equation.

The basic idea of quintessence consists of analyzing cosmological scenarios driven by scalar fields. In this work we present some interesting features on the cosmological scenario obtained from the solutions of an effective two scalar field model in a flat space-time. This effective model was constructed by coupling two single scalar field systems in a nontrivial way via an extension method. The solutions related to the fields allowed us to compute analytical cosmological parameters. The behavior of these parameters are highlighted, as well as the different epochs obtained from them.
