In the present work, the results obtained in [1] about the revivals of a relativistic fermion wave function on a torus are considerably enlarged. In fact, all the possible quantum states exhibiting revivals are fully characterized. The revivals are exact, that is, are true revivals without taking any particular limit such as the non relativistic one. The present results are of interest since they generalize the Talbot effect and the revivals of the Schrödinger equation to a relativistic situation with non zero mass. This makes the problem nontrivial, as the dispersion relation is modified and is not linear. The present results are obtained by the use of arithmetic tools which are described in certain detail. In addition, several plots of the revivals are presented, which are useful for exemplifying the procedure proposed along the text.

As is well established, several gauge theories admit vortices whose mean life time is very large. In some cases, this stability is a consequence of the topology of the symmetry group of the underlying theory. The main focus of the present work is, given a putative vortex, to determine if it is non abelian or not by analysis of its physical effects. The example considered here is the simplest one namely, a $SU(2)$ gauge model whose internal orientational space is described by $S^2$. Axion and gravitational emission are mainly considered. It is found that the non abelian property is basically reflected in a deviation of gravitational loop factor $γ_l$ found in \cite{vachaspati}-\cite{burden}. The axion emission instead, is not very sensitive to non abelianity, at least for this simple model. Another important discrepancy is that no point of the vortex reaches the speed of light when orientational modes are excited. In addition, the total power corresponding to each of these channels is compared, thus adapting the results of \cite{davis}-\cite{peloso} to the non abelian context. The excitations considered here are simple generalizations of rotating or spike string ansatz known in the literature \cite{ruso1}-\cite{kruczenski}. It is suggested however, that for certain type of semi-local strings whose internal moduli space is non compact, deviations due to non abelianity may be more pronounced.

We consider a finite-size spherical bubble with a nonequilibrium value of the $q$-field, where the bubble is immersed in an infinite vacuum with the constant equilibrium value $q_{0}$ for the $q$-field (this $q_{0}$ has already cancelled an initial cosmological constant). Numerical results are presented for the time evolution of such a $q$-bubble with gravity turned off and with gravity turned on. For small enough bubbles and a $q$-field energy scale sufficiently below the gravitational energy scale $E_\text{Planck}$, the vacuum energy of the $q$-bubble is found to disperse completely. For large enough bubbles and a finite value of $E_\text{Planck}$, the vacuum energy of the $q$-bubble disperses only partially and there occurs gravitational collapse near the bubble center.

In addition, the viability of two particular models is studied by taking into account recent observations. The updated observational Hubble data and the JLA supernovae data are used in order to constraint the cosmological parameters of the models and estimate the amount of dark energy in the radiation era. It is shown that the two models fulfil the severe bounds of $Ω_{x}(z\simeq 1100)<0.009$ at the $2σ$ level of Planck.

In the present work an inflationary tachyon field model of the early universe is considered. Several cosmological effects produced by a particular potential in this tachyonic era are studied, under the approximation of slow-roll inflation. In particular, the evolution of the spectral index $n_s$ with time is obtained. The equations for the cosmological scalar perturbations are analytically solved in order to show that the power spectrum for small $k$ values is $P_ζ\sim 1/k^{\frac{1}{2}+ν_2}$, where $ν_2$ depends on the barotropic index $γ_0$. For large $k$ values we find that the power spectrum is well approximated by the standard inflation model. Additionally, the three-point correlation function is calculated in order to get the primordial non-Gaussianity of the perturbation. The result is that $f_{NG} \simeq 0$ so the non-gaussianities generated by this tachyon field are negligible.

In the present work the power spectrum of a particular class of tachyon fields is compared with the one corresponding to a cosmological constant model. This is done for different barotropic indexes $γ_0$ and the background space time is assumed to be of the spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker type. The differential equation describing the perturbations is solved numerically and the power spectrum at the scale factor value $a=1$ is plotted for each case. The result is that the power spectrum of the standard tachyon field differs in many magnitude orders from the $Λ$CDM. However, the one with $γ_0=1.91$, which corresponds to a complementary tachyon field, coincides fairly well with the concordance model. Therefore, we conclude that the perturbed solutions constitute an effective method to distinguish between the different $γ_0$ values for the tachionization $Λ$CDM model and the fiducial model. The Statefinder parameters $\{r, s\}$, measuring the deviations of the analysed model from the concordance model, are also explicitly calculated. Our result suggest that, depending on the value of $γ_0$, these models can explain the observed expansion history or the perturbation power spectrum of the universe, but they may have problems in describing both features simultaneously.

In the present work it is shown that some specific double Higgs like mechanisms may have interesting cosmological applications. A hidden scenario which cast long lived super heavy particles together with an extremely light particle $a$ with mass $m_a\sim 10^{-32}-10^{-33}$eV is presented. The potential energy of this particle models the vacuum energy density of the universe $ρ_c\simeq 10^{-47}\;\hbox{GeV}^4$. The construction of such scenario is non trivial since the presence of light particles may spoil the stability of the heavy particles. However, double Higgs mechanisms may be helpful for overcoming this problem. The hidden sector we propose include fermions with masses near the neutrino mass $m_ν\sim 10^{-2}$eV which arise in terms of a see saw mechanism. Besides, the super heavy particles acquire a mass due to a double Higgs like mechanism of the order of the GUT scale. The gauge group of the model is $\hbox{SU(2)}_L$ and the scalars of the double Higgs mechanism are not charged under these interactions. The light particle $a$ is the Goldstone boson associated to a Peccei-Quinn like symmetry in the double Higgs model. In addition, the double Higgs mechanism posses another CP odd scalar $A^0$, which acquire a mass of the order of the GUT scale. We show that if there is no direct coupling between $A^0$ and $a$, even in presence of indirect couplings, the $A^0$ particle is long lived an may appear in events above the GKZ bound in present times.

The self-interaction for a static point charge in the space-time of a thin-shell wormhole constructed connecting two identical Schwarzschild geometries is calculated in a series expansion. The electrostatic self-force is evaluated numerically. It is found to be attractive towards the throat except for some values of the throat radius proximate to the value of the Schwarzschild horizon for which the force is repulsive or attractive depending on the position of the charge. The result differs from the self-force in the space-time of the Schwarzschild black hole, where it is always repulsive from the center. Although these wormhole and black hole geometries are locally indistinguishable, the different topologies of both backgrounds are manifested in the electrostatic field of a point charge.

We obtain the self-interaction for a point charge in the space-time of a cylindrical thin-shell wormhole connecting two identical locally flat geometries with a constant deficit angle. Although this wormhole geometry is locally indistinguishable from a cosmic string background, the corresponding self-forces are different even at the qualitative level. In fact in the cosmic string geometry the force is always repulsive while for the wormhole background we find that the force may point outwards or towards the wormhole throat depending on the parameters of the configuration. These results suggest that the study of the electromagnetic fields of charged particles is a useful tool for testing the global properties of a given background.

A toy model giving rise to long lived super heavy particles and an small vacuum density energy, of the order of the one measured in the present universe, is constructed. This model consists in hidden sector invariant under an $SU(2)_L$ gauge symmetry, whose masses are provided by the standard Higgs mechanism. It is assumed that the standard model particles are also charged under this interaction. The hidden fermions and the hidden Higgs are super-heavy, which mass values close to the GUT scale. In addition, there is an spontaneously broken U(1) chiral symmetry, giving rise to a pseudoscalar Goldstone boson which we refer as a "hidden axion". We model the vacuum energy of the universe as the potential energy of this pseudoscalar, and this fixes several scales of the model. In particular, it is shown that the interaction between the hidden and the ordinary sector is very weak, of the order of the gravitational one. The approach to the vacuum energy problem presented here is a quintessence like mechanism, in which it is assumed that the true vacuum density energy is zero for some unknown reason, except for the contribution of the light axion. As consequence of the weakness of this interaction, the hidden Higgs is long lived and may act as a super heavy component of the dark matter at present times.

Possible applications of these results in the study of supersymmetric particle actions and in the AdS/CFT correspondence are outlined.

In this setup, the non commutative five dimensional U(1) Nekrasov partition function is interpreted as a limiting case of a mean value of the Ooguri-Vafa operator for a Chern-Simons model, which is dual to the A-model on a toric Calabi-Yau with $h_{1,1}=1$ and $h_{2,1}=2$. In the present work the local form of certain Calabi-Yau metrics possessing a local Hamiltonian Killing vector is described in terms of a single non linear equation. The main assumptions are that the complex $(3,0)$-form is of the form $e^{ik}\widetildeΨ$, where $\widetildeΨ$ is preserved by the Killing vector, and that the space of the orbits of the Killing vector is, for fixed value of the momentum map coordinate, a complex 4-manifold, in such a way that the complex structure of the 4-manifold is part of the complex structure of the complex 3-fold. The link with the solution generating techniques of [26]-[28] is made explicit and in particular an example with holonomy exactly SU(3) is found by use of the linearization of [26], which was found in the context of D6 branes wrap** a holomorphic 1-fold in a hyperkahler manifold. But the main improvement of the present method, unlike the ones presented in [26]-[28], does not rely in an initial hyperkahler structure. Additionally the complications when dealing with non linear operators over the curved hyperkahler space are avoided by use of this method.

A method for constructing explicit Calabi-Yau metrics in six dimensions in terms of an initial hyperkahler structure is presented. The equations to solve are non linear in general, but become linear when the objects describing the metric depend on only one complex coordinate of the hyperkahler 4-dimensional space and its complex conjugated. This situation in particular gives a dual description of D6-branes wrap** a complex 1-cycle inside the hyperkahler space, which was studied by Fayyazuddin. The present work generalize the construction given by him. But the explicit solutions we present correspond to the non linear problem. This is a non linear equation with respect to two variables which, with the help of some specific anzatz, is reduced to a non linear equation with a single variable solvable in terms of elliptic functions. In these terms we construct an infinite family of non compact Calabi-Yau metrics.

We focus in examples with three commuting Killing vectors and we extend them to supergravity backgrounds with $T^3$ isometry, some of them with $AdS_4\times X_7$ near horizon limit and some others without this property. We would like to emphasize that there is an underlying linear structure describing these spaces. We also consider the effect of the $SL(2,R)$ solution generating technique presented by Maldacena and Lunin to these backgrounds and we find some rotating membrane configurations reproducing the E-S logarithmic behaviour.

The inspiration for the anzatz metric comes from the Bryant-Salamon construction of G2 holonomy metrics and from the fact that the twistor space of any compact quaternion Kahler space is Kahler-Einstein. The reduction of the holonomy to a subgroup of Spin(7) gives non linear system relating three unknown functions of one variable. We obtain a particular solution and we find that the resulting metric is a Calabi-Yau cone over an Einstein-Sassaki manifold which means that the holonomy is reduced to SU(4). Another coordinate change show us that our metrics are hyperkahler cones known as Swann bundles, thus the holonomy is reduced to Sp(2) and the cone is tri-Sassakian. We revert our argument and state that the Swann bundle define a closed G2 structure by reduction along an isometry. We calculate the torsion classes for such structure explicitly.

It is found the most general local form of the 11-dimensional supergravity backgrounds which, by reduction along one isometry, give rise to IIA supergravity solutions with a RR field and a non trivial dilaton, and for which the condition $F^{(1,1)}=0$ holds. This condition is stronger than the usual condition $F^{ab}J_{ab}=0$, required by supersymmetry. It is shown that these D6 wrapped backgrounds arise from the direct sum of the flat Minkowski metric with certain G2 holonomy metrics admitting an U(1) action, with a local form found by Apostolov and Salamon. Indeed, the strong supersymmetry condition is equivalent to the statement that there is a new isometry on the G2 manifold, which commutes with the old one; therefore these metrics are inherently toric. An example that is asymptotically Calabi-Yau is presented. There are found another G2 metrics which give rise to half-flat SU(3) structures. All this examples possess an U(1)x U(1)x U(1) isometry subgroup. Supergravity solutions without fluxes corresponding to these G2 metrics are constructed. With the help of this identification we have found the most general local form of an hyperkahler torsion space in four dimensions. We also presented an Ashtekar like formulation for them in which to finding an hyperkahler torsion metric is reduced to solve a quadratic differential system.
- It is found the most general form for the target space metric to the moduli space metric of several $(n>1)$ identical matter hypermultiplets for the type-IIA superstrings compactified on a Calabi-Yau threefold, near conifold singularities, even taking into account non-perturbative D-instanton quantum corrections. The metric in consideration is "toric hyperkahler" if we do not take into account the gravitational corrections.
- It is constructed a family of toric hyperkahler spaces in eight dimensions. This spaces are lifted to backgrounds of the eleven dimensional supergravity preserving certain ammount of supersymmetry, with and without the presence of fluxes. Several type IIA and IIB backgrounds have been found by reduction along a circle and by use of T-duality rules.
- It is constructed a family of $Spin(7)$, $G_2$ and weak $G_2$ holonomy metrics. The result has been lifted to a supergravity solution preserving one supersymmetry. The presence of a toric symmetry allows a reduction to type IIA backgrounds by usual reduction along one of the Killing vectors.

We present two equivalent formalisms describing such spaces, they are stated in the propositions of section 1. The first is reduced to solve a non-linear system for a doublet of potential functions, first found by Plebanski and Finley. The second is equivalent to finding the solutions of a quadratic Ashtekar-Jacobson-Smolin like system, but without a volume preserving condition. This is why heterotic spaces are simpler than usual hyperkahler ones. We also analyze the strong version of this geometry. Certain examples are presented, some of them are metrics of the Callan-Harvey-Strominger type and others are not. In the conclusion we discuss the benefits and disadvantages of both formulations in detail.

Abstract:
We calculate some non-perturbative (D-instanton) quantum corrections to the moduli space metric of several (n>1) identical matter hypermultiplets for the type-IIA superstrings compactified on a Calabi-Yau threefold, near conifold singularities. We find a non-trivial deformation of the (real) 4n-dimensional hypermultiplet moduli space metric due to the infinite number of D-instantons, under the a…

We find a non-trivial deformation of the (real) 4n-dimensional hypermultiplet moduli space metric due to the infinite number of D-instantons, under the assumption of n tri-holomorphic commuting isometries of the metric, in the hyper-K"ahler limit (i.e. in the absence of gravitational corrections).

Abstract:
In the present work some examples of toric hyperkahler metrics in eight dimensions are constructed. First it is described how the Calderbank-Pedersen metrics arise as a consequence of the Joyce description of selfdual structures in four dimensions, the Jones-Tod correspondence and a result due to Tod and Przanowski. It is also shown that any quaternionic Kahler metric with $T^2$ isometry is loca…

It is also shown that any quaternionic Kahler metric with $T^2$ isometry is locally isometric to a Calderbank-Pedersen one. The Swann construction of hyperkahler metrics in eight dimensions is applied to them to find hyperkahler examples with $U(1)\times U(1)$ isometry. The connection with the Pedersen-Poon toric hyperkahler metrics is explained and it is shown that there is a class of solutions of the generalized monopole equation in $\mathbb{R}^2 \otimes Im\mathbb{H}$ related to eigenfunctions of certain linear equation. This hyperkahler examples are lifted to solutions of the D=11 supergravity and type IIA and IIB backgrounds are found by use of dualities. As before, all the description is achieved in terms of a single eigenfunction F. Some explicit F are found, together with the Toda structure corresponding to the trajectories of the Killing vectors of the Calderbank-Pedersen bases.

Abstract:
In the present work the Calderbank-Pedersen description of four dimensional manifolds with self-dual Weyl tensor is used to obtain examples of quaternionic-kahler metrics with two commuting isometries. The eigenfunctions of the hyperbolic laplacian are found by use of Backglund transformations acting over solutions of the Ward monopole equation. The Bryant-Salamon construction of $G_2$ holonomy…

The Bryant-Salamon construction of $G_2$ holonomy metrics arising as $R^3$ bundles over quaternionic-kahler base spaces is applied to this examples to find internal spaces of the M-theory that leads to an N=1 supersymmetry in four dimensions. Type IIA solutions will be obtained too by reduction along one of the isometries. The torus symmetry of the base spaces is extended to the total ones.
