The Y1-xLixBa2Cu3O7-d polycrystalline bulk superconductors doped with Li substituting at the Y site at different concentrations (x = 0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.1) were prepared using the citrate-gel method to study the effects of do** on the superconducting temperature and critical current density. The question was whether Li addition characterized by a high Debye frequency would have any positive effects on Tc. The optimum citrate-gel and heat treatment conditions were identified as those yielding samples with a maximum grain size on the order of 50 micro.m (up to the optimum Li-do** level, x=0.01). Li substitution at the Y site was verified by structural, electrical, and magnetic measurements of the produced samples, whereas X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed the formation of a pure phase with no visible impurity phases. Moreover, AC magnetic susceptibility measurements showed no increase in the superconducting transition temperature Tc, consistent with the predicted results obtained by machine learning method, although it was theoretically expected to increase owing to the high Debye frequency of Li. This observation is consistent with magnetic coupling models for pairing mechanism in cuprates. Finally, because of the optimum conditions of the preparation procedure, nearly identical values of the critical current density (Jc) were recorded for samples with different Li do** levels (up to the optimum Li do** level). It was found that improved compound preparation conditions would have a critical and extensive effect on Jc enhancement, with nearly no Tc suppression.

X-ray diffraction (XRD) indicates that the LSFM has a Rhombohedral structure with R-3c space group symmetry. The XRD patterns reveal very small amount of impurity phase in the LSFM and Y2O3-Stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) mixture powders sintered at 600, 700 and 800 C for a week. The maximum electrical conductivity of LSFM is about 35.35 S.cm-1 at 783 C in the air. The oxygen chemical diffusion coefficients, DChem, are increased from 1.39*10-6 up to 7.66*10-6 .cm2. Besides, the oxygen surface exchange coefficients, kChem, are obtained to lie between 2.9*10-3 and 8.7*10-3 cm.s-1 in a temperature range of 600-800 C. The area-specific resistances (ASRs) of the LSFM symmetrical cell are 7.53, 1.53, 1.13, 0.46 and 0.31 .cm2 at 600, 650, 700, 750 and 800 C respectively, and related activation energy, Ea, is about 1.23 eV.

A simple spin coating approach is introduced to fabricate Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) electrolyte layer on NiO-YSZ anode substrate for solid oxide fuel cell applications. Heating the substrate during the slurry spin coating process enhances the affected area through the layer and leads to optimize the compacting amount of coated electrolyte particles before sintering procedure. On top of this bilayer substrate, LCFN is deposited as an intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell cathode, in order to have suitable output performances at intermediate temperature ranges. Applying humidified hydrogen as fuel and ambient air as the oxidant, cell performance characterizations exhibit higher power outputs for prepared sample. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy measurements on single cells also demonstrate that both interfacial and Ohmic resistances are reduced. These results along with Scanning Electron Microscope micrographs reveal that the density of the YSZ layer which is coated by the suggested approach is better than the usual slurry spin coating method.

The XRD analysis shows that the structures in all samples have single phase rhombohedral structure with R$\bar{3}$c space group. The unit cell volume almost decrease with increasing the Al do** in all samples. The grain growth with increasing annealing temperature and Al do** also have been studied. We observed that, T$_c$ temperature decreases when the Al ion substitute in Mn ion site. The magnetic study of the samples via magnetic susceptibility results in Griffiths and spin-glass phase for samples doped with aluminium. Along the resistivity measurement results, the $T_{MIT}$ (metal-insulator) transition temperatures decrease and the system become an insulator. The insulator-metal transition occurs for L0 sample in near 165K, while this transition is weak for H0 sample due to oxygen non-stoichiometry.Using three models viz. 1. Adiabatic small polaron ho**, 2.Variable range hop**, and 3. Percolation model, the resistance have been studied.

The effect of Ag dilute do** on the structural, optical, and photocatalytic properties of ZnO nanoparticles was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis spectrophotometer and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy.~X-ray analysis revealed that Ag doped ZnO solidified in hexagonal wurtzite structure.~ The intensity of deep level emission was reduced with increasing silver do** in PL measurement.~The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurement predicted that Ag was mainly in the metallic state and ZnO was in the wurtzite structure.~ This metallic state accompanied by unique zinc oxide properties decolorized the methyl violet, efficiently.~ The first-principles calculation represented Ag deep level in ZnO with an n-type behavior, while in ZnO structure with grain boundary p-type nature via shallow states is dominant same as powder samples as studied in this present work. It was suggested that these Ag-doped ZnO nanoparticles may have good applications in optoelectronics, spintronics and wastewater treatment.

Density functional theory based estimates of the energy position of Co-3$d$ states in Co doped ZnO differ substantially depending upon the choice of exchange-correlation functional. In this work we investigate many-body $GW$ corrections on top of DFT$+U$ and hybrid-DFT groundstates to provide a theoretical benchmark for the quasiparticle energies in wurtzite ZnO:Co. Both single shot $G_0W_0$ as well as partially self-consistent $GW_0$ wherein the wavefunctions are held fixed at the DFT level but the eigenvalues in G are iterated, are considered. The predicted energy position of the minority spin Co-$t_2$ states is 3.0-3.6 eV above the ZnO conduction band minimum which is closer to hybrid-DFT based estimates.

The structural, electronic, and vibrational thermodynamic properties of the (ZnO)$_n$ (n=2-16) clusters are studied using density functional - full potential computations. The results show, small clusters up to $n=9$ stabilize in the 2D ring shape geometries while the larger clusters prefer the 3D cage like structures. The ring to cage structural cross over in ZnO clusters is studied by investigating the behavior of the Zn-O-Zn bond angle, the Zn-O bond strength, and the number of bonds in the systems. It is argued that 12 is the lowest magic number of ZnO clusters at ground state, while finite temperature vibrational excitations enhance the relative stability of the (ZnO)$_9$ cluster and make it a magic system at temperatures above about 170 K. The obtained electronic structure of ZnO clusters before and after applying the many-body GW corrections evidence a size induced red shift originated from the ring to cage structural cross over in these systems. The behavior of the extremal points of electron density of the clusters along with the extrapolated cluster binding energies at very large sizes may be evidences for existence of a metastable structure for large ZnO nanostructures, different with the bulk ZnO structure.

Mechanical alloying (MA) has been used to fabricate the Co2FeAl Heusler alloy with a nanocrystalline structure. The formation mechanism of the alloy has been investigated. Rietveld analysis showed that all samples that were milled for more than 15 hours had an L21 structure with a space group of Fm3m. The crystallite size and internal strain of the samples were calculated using the Williamson-Hall equation. With mechanical alloying of up to 20 hours the crystallite size of Co2FeAl increased, after which the crystallite size started to decrease. In contrast, internal strain first decreased during the process and then increased with the increase of milling time. The powder obtained after 20 hours of MA was split into three parts and separately annealed at 300, 500 and 700 oC for 5 hours. A considerable increase was observed in the hardness value of powder particles with the increase of annealing temperature up to 500 oC. However, the hardness value of the sample annealed at 700 oC decreased. It seems that this feature is related to parameters such as increase of crystallite size, enhancement of lattice ordering, change in density of defects and impurities and nonstoichiometric effects.

We performed detailed ac susceptibility measurements on Pr$_{1-x}$Ag$_x$MnO$_3$ ($x$=0.15, 0.20) manganites and observed unusual and interesting features, which are associated with the domain walls and the effects of grain-boundaries on their movements. It is shown that the ac field, frequency, temperature, thermal cycling and grain coupling significantly influence the real and especially imaginary parts of the ac susceptibility. We argue that the cooperative depinning of the domain walls from the grain-boundaries accompanying with a large distance movements of the walls leads to the appearance of an anomaly at low temperatures. The anomaly is observed above a threshold ac field and depends on the intergrain coupling. The results show that in the powdered form of bulk samples, the anomaly disappears and the ac field dependence of the $χ'$ and $χ"$ suppresses. Below the anomaly temperature, significant and unusual thermal hysteresis occurs in the real and especially imaginary parts of the ac susceptibility. Thermal hysteresis depends on the thermal cycling and indicates thermally irreversible wall pinning and depinning. The susceptibility is practically frequency-independent in the temperature range of thermal hysteresis i.e. below the anomaly. The frequency dependence of ac susceptibility between the anomaly temperature and the transition temperature is discussed by considering the temperature dependence of the relaxation process of the domain walls.

The crystal structure and mean particle size of the synthesized powders were estimated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis using rietveld refinement and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) transmission spectroscopy revealed that stretching and bending modes are influenced by calcinations temperature. Dc magnetization versus magnetic field of the samples was carried out at room temperature. Magnetic dynamics of the samples was studied by the measurement of ac magnetic susceptibility versus temperature at different frequencies and ac magnetic fields. A frequency-dependent peak was observed in ac magnetic susceptibility versus temperature which is well described by Vogel-Fulcher and critical slowing down laws, and empirical and parameters. By fitting the experimental data with Vogel-Fulcher and critical slowing down laws, the relaxation time, characteristic temperature, magnetic anisotropy energy, effective magnetic anisotropy constant and critical exponent zv have been estimated. The obtained values of c1, c2, T0 and t0 from the Vogel-Fulcher law support of the presence of strong interaction between magnetic nanoparticles. The values of zv and t0 obtained from critical slowing down fit suggest the presence of superspin glass behavior in LSMO nanoparticles of different sizes.

The increase of $T_{C}$ up to 130 K is suggested to be due to further oxidation of manganite grains by the oxygen released from the metallic silver at high temperatures. We show that all measured ac susceptibility curves can be caled into a single curve using the peak temperature (Tp) of its imaginary part as the scaling parameter. The frequency effect on ac susceptibility was also measured. As the frequency increases,(Tp)shifts to higher temperature. This effect can be interpreted in terms of flux creep. The temperature T,and field,Hac, dependence of the activation energy obtained from the Arrhenius plot for the frequency(f)and(Tp),can be described as U(Hac,T)=Uo(1-T/Tc)Hac^(-0.18).

A systematic study of the weak- link behavior for YBa2Cu3O7-d polycrystalline samples has been done using the electrical resistivity and AC susceptibility techniques. The experiments were performed with two samples of similar grain, a sample of well-coupled grains, and a deoxygenated sample in such a way that the oxygen mostly come from the intergrain region. Analysis of the temperature dependence of the AC susceptibility near the transition temperature (Tc) has been done employing Bean critical state model. The observed variation of intergranular critical current densities(Jc)with temperature indicates that the weak links are changed from superconductor- normal metal-superconductor(SNS) for well-coupled sample to superconductor-insulator- normal metal-superconductor(SINS) type of junctions for the deoxygenated sample. These results are interpreted in terms of oxygen depletion from grain boundaries, which in turn decreases the intergranular Josephson coupling energy with a consequent decrease ofpinning of the intergranular vortices.
