An operational point of view to the theory of multi-variable/multi-index Hermite polynomials
Abstract: The use of algebraic tools of operational and umbral nature is exploited to develop a new point of view and to extend the theory of Hermite polynomials, with more than one variable also of complex nature. The techniques we adopt includes multivariable/many index Hermite- Kampe-de-Feriet polynomials of order two and higher. It will be shown that the treatment, foreseen here, simplifies the study of… ▽ More

On the Evolution of Covid-19 in Italy: a Follow up Note
Abstract: In a previous note we made an analysis of the spreading of the COVID disease in Italy. We used a model based on the logistic and Hubbert functions, the analysis we exploited has shown limited usefulness in terms of predictions and failed in fixing fundamental indications like the point of inflection of the disease growth. In this note we elaborate on the previous model, using multi-logistic models… ▽ More

A Note on the Evolution of Covid-19 in Italy
Abstract: We employ methods largely exploited in Physics, in the analysis of the evolution of dynamical systems, to study the pattern of the Covid-19 infection in Italy. The techniques we employ are based on the use of logistic function and of its derivative, namely the Hubbert function. The latter is exploited to give a prediction on the number of infected per day. We also mention the possibility of taking… ▽ More

Umbral-Algebraic Methods and Asymptotic Properties of Special Polynomials
Abstract: A new method of algebraic nature is proposed for the study of the asymptotic properties of special polynomials. The technique we foresee is based on the use of umbral operators, allowing a unified treatment of a large body of polynomial families, with the use of elementary algebraic tools.

Repeated derivatives of tanh, sech, ... and associated polynomials
Abstract: Elementary problems like the evaluation of repeated derivatives of ordinary transcendent functions can usefully be treated by the use of special polynomials and of a formalism borrowed from combinatorial analysis. Motivated by previous researches in this field, we review the results obtained by other authors and develop a complementary point of view for the repeated derivatives of sec(.), tan(.) a… ▽ More

Theory of relativistic heat polynomials and one-sided Lévy distributions
Abstract: The theory of pseudo-differential operators is a powerful tool to deal with differential equations involving differential operators under the square root sign. These type of equations are pivotal elements to treat problems in anomalous diffusion and in relativistic quantum mechanics. In this paper we report on new and unsuspected links between fractional diffusion, quantum relativistic equations a… ▽ More

Pathway to a Compact SASE FEL Device
Abstract: Newly developed high peak power lasers have opened the possibilities of driving coherent light sources operating with laser plasma accelerated beams and wave undulators. We speculate on the combination of these two concepts and show that the merging of the underlying technologies could lead to new and interesting possibilities to achieve truly compact, coherent radiator devices.
