Configuration Interaction Study of the $^3{\rm P}$ Ground State of the Carbon Atom
Abstract: Configuration Interaction (CI) calculations on the ground state of the C atom are carried out using a small basis set of Slater orbitals [7s6p5d4f3g]. The configurations are selected according to their contribution to the total energy. One set of exponents is optimized for the whole expansion. Using some computational techniques to increase efficiency, our computer program is able to perform parti… ▽ More

Bound state spectra and properties of the doublet states in three-electron atomic systems
Abstract: The bound state spectra of the doublet states in three-electron atomic systems are investigated. By using different variational expansions we determine various bound state properties in these systems. Such properties include the electron-nucleus and electron-electron delta-functions and cusp values. The general structure of the bound state spectra in several three-electron atomic systems (Li, Be+,… ▽ More

Singlet and triplet bound state spectra in the four-electron Be-like atomic systems
Abstract: A large number of bound singlet and triplet states in the four-electron Be-atom and Be-like ions B$^+$, C$^{2+}$, F$^{5+}$ and Mg$^{8+}$ are determined to milli-Hartree numerical accuracy ($1\cdot 10^{-3}$ a.u.). These states include the bound singlet and triplet $S$-, $P$-, $D$-, $F$-, $G$-, $H$-, $I$- and $K$-states. Based on computational results we analyze the singlet and triplet series of the… ▽ More

Bound state spectrum of the triplet states in the Be atom
Abstract: The bound state spectrum of the low-lying triplet states in the Be atom is investigated. In particular, we perform accurate computations of the bound triplet $S$, $P$, $D$, $F$, $G$, $H$ and $I$ states in the Be atom. The results of these calculations are employed to draw the spectral diagram which contains the energy levels of the triplet states. Based on our computational results we can observe… ▽ More

Triplet states in the Be atom: bound state spectrum and hyperfine structure
Abstract: The bound state spectrum of low-lying triplet states in the Be atom is investigated. In particular, we perform accurate computations of various bound triplet S, P, D, F, and G states in the four-electron Be atom. For the 23S(L=0) state in the Be atom we determine the hyperfine structure and a number of bound states properties by using results of highly accurate computations. The energies of the hy… ▽ More

Accurate CI and Hylleraas-CI wave functions for the atomic effects in the whole-atom-nuclear beta-decay of the Li atom
Abstract: In this review we study the level of accuracy of the electronic wave functions which is necessary to describe properly the atomic effects during nuclear beta-decay. In the case of the beta- decay in the Li atom into Be+ ion we compare the numerical values of the transition probabilities from the S-, P-, D-low-lying states of the initial atom and final ion calculated using both Hylleraas-Configurat… ▽ More

Hylleraas-configuration-interaction analysis of the low-lying states in the three-electron Li atom and Be+ ion
Abstract: The total energies of twenty eight bound S-, P-, D-, F-, G-, H-, and I-states in the three-electron systems Li atom and Be+ ion, respectively, are determined with the use of the Configuration Interaction (CI) with Slater orbitals and L-S eigenfunctions, and the Hylleraas-configuration-interaction (Hy-CI) methods. We discuss the construction and selection of the configurations in the wave functions… ▽ More

Hyperfine structure of the $2^3S-$state in the ${}^9$Be atom
Abstract: A number of bound states properties and the hyperfine structure of the 23S(L=0)-state in the Be atom are determined from the results of highly accurate computations. Evaluation of three-center two-electron repulsion integrals over Slater orbitals
Abstract: The Slater orbitals are the natural basis functions in quantum molecular calculations. Three-center repulsion Coulomb-exchange integrals over Slater orbitals are evaluated analytically with arbitrary orbital exponents, first for linear conformation of the atomic centers. These integrals have been expressed as a linear combination of three-center one-electron overlap integrals, and those have been… ▽ More

Evaluation of Hylleraas-CI atomic integrals by integration over the coordinates of one electron. IV. An improved algorithm for three-electron kinetic energy integrals
Abstract: An improved algorithm to evaluate the nonrelativistic three-electron Hylleraas-Configuration Interaction (Hy-CI) kinetic energy integrals over Slater orbitals and the Hamiltonian in Hylleraas coordinates is shown. The resulting analytical expressions are general for all quantum numbers of the orbitals. From there, the restriction of employing orbitals with quantum numbers $l \le 2$ of the above al… ▽ More

Fourier-Legendre expansion of the one-electron density-matrix of ground-state two-electron atoms
Abstract: The density-matrix rho(r, r') of a spherically symmetric system can be expanded as a Fourier-Legendre series of Legendre polynomials Pl(cos(theta) = r.r'/rr'). Application is here made to harmonically trapped electron pairs (i.e. Moshinsky's and Hooke's atoms), for which exact wavefunctions are known, and to the helium atom, using a near-exact wavefunction. In the present approach, generic close… ▽ More
