On $λ$-determinants and tiling problems
Abstract: We review the connections between the octahedral recurrence, $λ$-determinants and tiling problems. This provides in particular a direct combinatorial interpretation of the $λ$-determinant (and generalizations thereof) of an arbitrary matrix in terms of domino tilings of Aztec diamonds. We also reinterpret the general Robbins-Rumsey formula for the rational function of consecutive minors, given by… ▽ More

Fluctuations and arctic curve in the Aztec diamond
Abstract: Domino tilings of Aztec diamonds are known to exhibit an arctic phenomenon, namely a separation between frozen regions (in which all the dominoes have the same orientation) and a central disordered region (where dominoes are found without any apparent order). This separation was proved to converge, under a suitable rescaling, to the Airy process whose $1$-point distribution is the Tracy-Widom dist… ▽ More

Double tangent method for two-periodic Aztec diamonds
Abstract: We use the octahedron recurrence, which generalizes the quadratic recurrence found by Kuo for standard Aztec diamonds, in order to compute boundary one-refined and two-refined partition functions for two-periodic Aztec diamonds. Arctic curves of the $6$V model with partial DWBC and double Aztec rectangles
Abstract: Previous numerical studies have shown that in the disordered and anti-ferroelectric phases the six-vertex ($6$V) model with partial domain wall boundary conditions (DWBC) exhibits an arctic curve whose exact shape is unknown. The model is defined on a $s\times n$ square lattice ($s\leq n$). In this paper, we derive the analytic expression of the arctic curve, for $a=b=1$ and $c=\sqrt{2}$ ($Δ=0$),… ▽ More

Factorization in the multirefined tangent method
Abstract: When applied to statistical systems showing an arctic curve phenomenon, the tangent method assumes that a modification of the most external path does not affect the arctic curve. On these modules, the Hamiltonian $h = -\sum_i e_i$ is shown to be self-adjoint with respect to this inner product. On parity functions in conformal field theories
Abstract: We examine general aspects of parity functions arising in rational conformal field theories, as a result of Galois theoretic properties of modular transformations. We focus more specifically on parity functions associated with affine Lie algebras, for which we give two efficient formulas. We investigate the consequences of these for the modular invariance problem.

Discrete symmetries of unitary minimal conformal theories
Abstract: We classify the possible discrete (finite) symmetries of two--dimensional critical models described by unitary minimal conformally invariant theories. We find that all but six models have the group Z_2 as maximal symmetry. Among the six exceptional theories, four have no symmetry at all, while the other two are the familiar critical and tricritical 3--Potts models, which both have an S_3 symmetr… ▽ More

Comments on the Links between su(3) Modular Invariants, Simple Factors in the Jacobian of Fermat Curves, and Rational Triangular Billiards
Abstract: We examine the proposal made recently that the su(3) modular invariant partition functions could be related to the geometry of the complex Fermat curves. Although a number of coincidences and similarities emerge between them and certain algebraic curves related to triangular billiards, their meaning remains obscure. In an attempt to go beyond the su(3) case, we show that any rational conformal f… ▽ More

Spectra of Conformal Field Theories with Current Algebras
Abstract: This is an elementary review of our recent work on the classification of the spectra of those two-dimensional rational conformal field theories (RCFTs) whose (maximal) chiral algebras are current algebras. We classified all possible partition functions for such theories when the defining finite-dimensional Lie algebra is simple. The concepts underlying this work are emphasized, and are illustrat… ▽ More

Automorphism Modular Invariants of Current Algebras
Abstract: We consider those two-dimensional rational conformal field theories (RCFTs) whose chiral algebras, when maximally extended, are isomorphic to the current algebra formed from some affine non-twisted Kac--Moody algebra at fixed level. In this case the partition function is specified by an automorphism of the fusion ring and corresponding symmetry of the Kac--Peterson modular matrices. We classify… ▽ More

Algebraic Aspects of Abelian Sandpile Models
Abstract: The abelian sandpile models feature a finite abelian group $G$ generated by the operators corresponding to particle addition at various sites. We study the canonical decomposition of $G$ as a product of cyclic groups $G = Z_{d_1} \times Z_{d_2} \times Z_{d_3} >... \times Z_{d_g}$ where $g$ is the least number of generators of $G$, and $d_i$ is a multiple of $d_{i+1}$. The structure of $G$ is det… ▽ More
