Higher-dimensional Losev-Manin spaces and their geometry
Abstract: The classical Losev-Manin space can be interpreted as a toric compactification of the moduli space of $n$ points in the affine line modulo translation and scaling. Motivated by this, we study its higher-dimensional toric counterparts, which compactify the moduli space of $n$ distinct labeled points in affine space modulo translation and scaling. We show that these moduli spaces are a fibration ove… ▽ More

The Fulton-MacPherson compactification is not a Mori dream space
Abstract: We show that the Fulton-MacPherson compactification of the configuration space of $n$ distinct labeled points in certain varieties of arbitrary dimension $d$, including projective space, is not a Mori dream space for $n$ larger than $d+8$.

Complete complexes and spectral sequences
Abstract: By analogy with the classical (Chasles-Schubert-Semple-Tyrell) spaces of complete quadrics and complete collineations, we introduce the variety of complete complexes. Its points can be seen as equivalence classes of spectral sequences of a certain type. We prove that the set of such equivalence classes has a structure of a smooth projective variety. We show that it provides a desingularization, wi… ▽ More

Wonderful compactifications of the moduli space of points in affine and projective space
Abstract: We introduce and study smooth compactifications of the moduli space of n labeled points with weights in projective space, which have normal crossings boundary and are defined as GIT quotients of the weighted Fulton-MacPherson compactification. We show that the GIT quotient of a wonderful compactification is also a wonderful compactification under certain hypotheses. We also study a weighted versio… ▽ More

Weighted compactifications of configuration spaces and relative stable degenerations
Abstract: We study a compactification of the configuration space of n distinct labeled points on an arbitrary nonsingular variety. Our construction provides a generalization of the original Fulton-MacPherson compactification that is parallel to the generalization of the moduli space of n-pointed stable curves carried out by Hassett.

Localization for logarithmic stable maps
Abstract: We prove a virtual localization formula for Bumsig Kim's space of logarithmic stable maps. The formula is closely related and can in fact recover the relative virtual localization formula of Graber and Vakil.
