In this paper, we investigate homogeneous Riemannian geometry on real flag manifolds of the split real form of $\mathfrak{g}_2$. We characterize the metrics that are invariant under the action of a maximal compact subgroup of $G_2.$ Our exploration encompasses the analysis of g.o. metrics and equigeodesics on the $\mathfrak{g}_2$-type flag manifolds. We characterize the metrics that are invariant under the action of a maximal compact subgroup of $G_2.$ Our exploration encompasses the analysis of g.o. metrics and equigeodesics on the $\mathfrak{g}_2$-type flag manifolds. Additionally, we explore the Ricci flow for the case where the isotropy representation has no equivalent summands, employing techniques from the qualitative theory of dynamical systems.

Abstract:
In this paper we are concerned with determining lower bounds of the number of limit cycles for piecewise polynomial holomorphic systems with a straight line of discontinuity. We approach this problem with different points of view: study of the number of zeros of the first and second order averaging functions, or with the control of the limit cycles appearing from a monodromic equilibrium point via…

In this paper we are concerned with determining lower bounds of the number of limit cycles for piecewise polynomial holomorphic systems with a straight line of discontinuity. We approach this problem with different points of view: study of the number of zeros of the first and second order averaging functions, or with the control of the limit cycles appearing from a monodromic equilibrium point via a degenerated Andronov-Hoph type bifurcation, adding at the very end the sliding effects. We also use the Poincaré-Miranda theorem for obtaining an explicit piecewise linear holomorphic systems with 3 limit cycles, result that improves the known examples in the literature that had a single limit cycle.

Abstract:
A difficult classical problem in the qualitative theory of differential systems in the plane $\mathbb{R}^2$ is the center-focus problem, i.e. to distinguish between a focus and a center. Another difficult problem is to distinguish inside a family of centers the ones which are global. A global center is a center $p$ such that $\mathbb{R}^2\setminus\{p\}$ is filled with periodic orbits. In this pape…

In this paper we classify the global centers of the family of real polynomial differential systems of degree $3$ that in complex notation write $$ i\dot{w}=w-A_3\overline{w}^2-A_4w^3-A_5w^2\overline{w}-A_6w\overline{w}^2, $$ where $w=x+iy$ and $A_k\in\mathbb{C}$ for $k=3,4,5,6$.

In this paper, we are concerned with studying the existence of invariant complex manifolds of two-dimensional holomorphic systems. From the geometric singular perturbation theory we know that if a slow-fast system has associated a normally hyperbolic compact critical manifold, then there exists a smooth locally invariant manifold. However, this smooth manifold does not necessarily have a complex structure. Here, we provide conditions to guarantee the existence of one-dimensional invariant complex manifolds. Consequently, this allows us to establish that the centers, foci, and nodes of the reduced problem are persistent by singular perturbation. The tools used by us are the usual techniques of Fenichel and Briot-Bouquet Theories.

Abstract:
We studied piecewise smooth differential systems of the form $$\dot{z} = Z(z) = \dfrac{1 + \operatorname{sgn}(F)}{2}X(z) + \dfrac{1 - \operatorname{sgn}(F)}{2}Y(z),$$ where $F: \mathbb{R}^{n}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a smooth map having 0 as a regular value. We studied piecewise smooth differential systems of the form $$\dot{z} = Z(z) = \dfrac{1 + \operatorname{sgn}(F)}{2}X(z) + \dfrac{1 - \operatorname{sgn}(F)}{2}Y(z),$$ where $F: \mathbb{R}^{n}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a smooth map having 0 as a regular value. We consider linear regularizations of the vector field $Z$ given by $$\dot{z}= Z_{\varepsilon}(z) = \dfrac{1 + \varphi(F/\varepsilon)}{2}X(z) +\dfrac{1 - \varphi(F /\varepsilon)}{2}Y(z),$$where $\varphi$ is a transition function (not necessarily monotonic) and nonlinear regularizations of the vector field $Z$ whose transition function is monotonic. It is a well-known fact that the regularized system is a slow-fast system. The main contribution of this paper is the study of typical singularities of slow-fast systems that arise from (linear or nonlinear) regularizations. We developed an algorithm to construct suitable transition functions, and we apply these ideas in order to create slow-fast singularities from normal forms of piecewise smooth vector fields. We present examples of transition functions that, after regularization of a PSVF normal form, generate normally hyperbolic, fold, transcritical, and pitchfork singularities.

Specifically, we classify the possible phase portraits of these systems from the known normal forms and the typical singularities of PWHS. Also, we are interested in understanding how the trajectories of the regularized system associated with the PWHS transits through the region of regularization. In addition, we know that holomorphic systems have no limit cycles, but piecewise smooth holomorphic systems do, so we provide conditions to ensure the existence of limit cycles of these systems. Additional conditions are provided to guarantee the stability and uniqueness of such limit cycles. Finally, we give some families of PWHS that have homoclinic orbits.

Planar holomorphic systems $\dot{x}=u(x,y)$, $\dot{y}=v(x,y)$ are those that $u=\operatorname{Re}(f)$ and $v=\operatorname{Im}(f)$ for some holomorphic function $f(z)$. They have important dynamical properties, highlighting, for example, the fact that they do not have limit cycles and that center-focus problem is trivial. In particular, the hypothesis that a polynomial system is holomorphic reduces the number of parameters of the system. Although a polynomial system of degree $n$ depends on $n^2 +3n+2$ parameters, a polynomial holomorphic depends only on $2n + 2$ parameters. In this work, in addition to making a general overview of the theory of holomorphic systems, we classify all the possible global phase portraits, on the Poincaré disk, of systems $\dot{z}=f(z)$ and $\dot{z}=1/f(z)$, where $f(z)$ is a polynomial of degree $2$, $3$ and $4$ in the variable $z\in \mathbb{C}$. We also classify all the possible global phase portraits of Moebius systems $\dot{z}=\frac{Az+B}{Cz+D}$, where $A,B,C,D\in\mathbb{C}, AD-BC\neq0$. Finally, we obtain explicit expressions of first integrals of holomorphic systems and of conjugated holomorphic systems, which have important applications in the study of fluid dynamics.

Additional conditions are also provided to ensured the stability and uniqueness of such limit cycles. All the proofs are based on the construction of the first return map of the regularized Filippov system around homoclinic-like connections. Such a map is obtained by using a recent characterization of the local behaviour of the regularized Filippov system around regular-tangential singularities. Fixed point theorems and Poincaré-Bendixson arguments are also employed.
