Calcite, vaterite and aragonite forming on cement hydration from liquid and gaseous phase
Abstract: Cement hydration products were studied as influenced by the hydration conditions (hydration time in liquid phase; relative humidity, RH, in gaseous phase). The formation of calcium hydroxide (portlandite, P) and its transformation to calcium carbonates is mainly discussed here.

Partial Groupoid Actions on Smooth Manifolds
Abstract: Given a smooth partial action $α$ of a Lie groupoid $G$ on a smooth manifold $M,$ we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for $α$ to be globalizable with smooth globalization. As an application, we provide results on the differentiable structure of orbit and stabilizer spaces induced by $α,$ which leads to other criteria for its globalization in terms of its orbit maps in the case that $α$… ▽ More

The isomorphism problem for universal envelo** algebras of four-dimensional solvable Lie algebras
Abstract: This paper is a contribution to the isomorphism problem for universal envelo** algebras of finite-dimensional Lie algebras. We focus on solvable Lie algebras of small dimensions over fields of arbitrary characteristic. We prove, over an arbitrary field, that the isomorphism type of a metabelian Lie algebra whose derived subalgebra has codimension one is determined by its universal envelo** alg… ▽ More

On localizations of quasi-simple groups with given countable center
Abstract: A group homomorphism $i: H \to G$ is a localization of $H$ if for every homomorphism $\varphi: H\rightarrow G$ there exists a unique endomorphism $ψ: G\rightarrow G$, such that $i ψ=\varphi$ (maps are acting on the right). Göbel and Trlifaj asked in \cite[Problem 30.4(4), p. 831]{GT12} which abelian groups are centers of localizations of simple groups. Approaching this question we show that every… ▽ More

Generators and closed classes of groups
Abstract: We show that in the category of groups, every singly-generated class which is closed under isomorphisms, direct limits and extensions is also singly-generated under isomorphisms and direct limits, and in particular is co-reflective. We also establish several new relations between singly-generated closed classes.

Envelopes and covers for groups
Abstract: We connect work done by Enochs, Rada and Hill in module approximation theory with work undertaken by several group theorists and algebraic topologists in the context of homotopical localization and cellularization of spaces. This allows one to consider envelopes and covers of arbitrary groups. We show some characterizing results for certain classes of groups, and present some open questions.

Observation of the rare $B^0_s\toμ^+μ^-$ decay from the combined analysis of CMS and LHCb data
Abstract: A joint measurement is presented of the branching fractions $B^0_s\toμ^+μ^-$ and $B^0\toμ^+μ^-$ in proton-proton collisions at the LHC by the CMS and LHCb experiments. The data samples were collected in 2011 at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, and in 2012 at 8 TeV. On cellular covers with free kernels
Abstract: Recall that a homomorphism of $R$-modules $π: G\to H$ is called a {\it cellular cover} over $H$ if $π$ induces an isomorphism $π_*: \Hom_R(G,G)\cong \Hom_R(G,H),$ where $π_*(\varphi)= π\varphi$ for each $\varphi \in \Hom_R(G,G)$ (where maps are acting on the left). Cellular covers of cotorsion-free modules
Abstract: In this paper we improve recent results dealing with cellular covers of $R$-modules. Cellular covers (sometimes called co-localizations) come up in the context of homotopical localization of topological spaces. They are related to idempotent cotriples, idempotent comonads or coreflectors in category theory. Recall that a homomorphism of $R$-modules $π: G\to H$ is called a {\it cellular cover}… ▽ More

A connection between cellularization for groups and spaces via two-complexes
Abstract: Let $M$ denote a two-dimensional Moore space (so $H_2(M; \Z) = 0$), with fundamental group $G$. The $M$-cellular spaces are those one can build from $M$ by using wedges, push-outs, and telescopes (and hence all pointed homotopy colimits). The question we address here is to characterize the class of $M$-cellular spaces by means of algebraic properties derived from the group $G$. We show that the… ▽ More

Abstract: In this paper we consider probabilistic normed spaces as defined by Alsina, Sklar, and Schweizer, but equipped with non necessarily continuous triangle functions. Abstract: In this paper we answer negatively a question posed by Casacuberta, Farjoun, and Libman about the preservation of perfect groups under localization functors. Indeed, we show that a certain $P$-localization of Berrick and Casacuberta's universal acyclic group is not perfect. Plus-construction for algebras over an operad, cyclic and Hochschild homologies up to homotopy
Abstract: In this paper we apply homotopical localization to the framework of differential graded algebras over an operad. Non-simple localizations of finite simple groups
Abstract: Often a localization functor (in the category of groups) sends a finite simple group to another finite simple group. We study when such a localization also induces a localization between the automorphism groups and between the universal central extensions. As a consequence we exhibit many examples of localizations of finite simple groups which are not simple.

Finite simple groups and localization
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to explore the concept of localization, which comes from homotopy theory, in the context of finite simple groups. We give an easy criterion for a finite simple group to be a localization of some simple subgroup and we apply it in various cases. Iterating this process allows us to connect many simple groups by a sequence of localizations. We prove that all sporadic si… ▽ More

Large localizations of finite simple groups
Abstract: A group homomorphism eta:H-->G is called a localization of H if every homomorphism phi:H-->G can be `extended uniquely' to a homomorphism Phi:G-->G in the sense that Phi eta=phi. Libman showed that a localization of a finite group need not be finite. This is exemplified by a well-known representation A_n-->SO_{n-1}(R) of the alternating group A_n, which turns out to be a localization for n eve… ▽ More
