Generalized Orbital Angular Momentum Symmetry in Parametric Amplification
Abstract: We investigate interesting symmetry properties verified by the down-converted beams produced in optical parametric amplification with structured light. We show that the Poincaré sphere symmetry, previously demonstrated for first-order spatial modes, translates to a multiple Poincaré sphere structure for higher orders. Each one of these multiple spheres is associated with a two-dimensional subspace… ▽ More

Machine learning recognition of light orbital-angular-momentum superpositions
Abstract: We developed a method to characterize arbitrary superpositions of light orbital angular momentum (OAM) with high fidelity by using astigmatic tomography and machine learning processing. In order to define each superposition unequivocally, we combine two intensity measurements. The first one is the direct image of the input beam, which cannot distinguish between opposite OAM components. This ambigu… ▽ More

Optical Trap** in a Dark Focus
Abstract: The superposition of a Gaussian mode and a Laguerre-Gauss mode with $\ell=0,p\neq0$ generates the so-called bottle beam: a dark focus surrounded by a bright region. In this paper, we theoretically explore the use of bottle beams as an optical trap for dielectric spheres with a refractive index smaller than that of their surrounding medium. The forces acting on a small particle are derived within t… ▽ More

Systematic Map** Study On Security Threats in Cloud Computing
Abstract: Today, Cloud Computing is rising strongly, presenting itself to the market by its main service models, known as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, that offer advantages in operational investments by means of on-demand costs, where consumers pay by resources used. In face of this growth, security threats also rise, compromising the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of the services provided. Our work is… ▽ More

Casimir torque between corrugated metallic plates
Abstract: We consider two parallel corrugated plates and show that a Casimir torque arises when the corrugation directions are not aligned. We follow the scattering approach and calculate the Casimir energy up to second order in the corrugation amplitudes, taking into account nonspecular reflections, polarization mixing and the finite conductivity of the metals. We compare our results with the proximity f… ▽ More

The lateral Casimir force beyond the proximity force approximation: a nontrivial interplay between geometry and quantum vacuum
Abstract: The lateral Casimir force between two corrugated metallic plates makes possible a study of the nontrivial interplay of geometry and Casimir effect appearing beyond the regime of validity of the Proximity Force Approximation (PFA). Quantitative evaluations can be obtained by using scattering theory in a perturbative expansion valid when the corrugation amplitudes are smaller than the three other… ▽ More

Vacuum induced torque between corrugated metallic plates
Abstract: We study the torque arising between two corrugated metallic plates due to the interaction with electromagnetic vacuum. This Casimir torque can be measured with torsion pendulum techniques for separation distances as large as 1$μ$m. It allows one to probe the nontrivial geometry dependence of the Casimir energy in a configuration which can be evaluated theoretically with accuracy. In the optimal… ▽ More

Particle Creation by a Moving Boundary with Robin Boundary Condition
Abstract: We consider a massless scalar field in 1+1 dimensions satisfying a Robin boundary condition (BC) at a non-relativistic moving boundary. We derive a Bogoliubov transformation between input and output bosonic field operators, which allows us to calculate the spectral distribution of created particles. The cases of Dirichlet and Neumann BC may be obtained from our result as limiting cases. These tw… ▽ More

Lateral Casimir force beyond the Proximity Force Approximation
Abstract: We argue that the appropriate variable to study a non trivial geometry dependence of the Casimir force is the lateral component of the Casimir force, which we evaluate between two corrugated metallic plates outside the validity of the Proximity Force Approximation (PFA). The metallic plates are described by the plasma model, with arbitrary values for the plasma wavelength, the plate separation a… ▽ More

Vacuum Polarization of a Scalar Field in a Rectangular Waveguide
Abstract: An analysis of the one-loop vacuum fluctuations associated with a scalar field confined in the interior of a infinite waveguide of rectangular cross section is presented. We first consider the massless scalar field defined in a four-dimensional Euclidean space. To identify the infinities of the vacuum fluctuations we use a combination of dimensinal and zeta function analytic regularization proce… ▽ More

Casimir Energy of Massless Fermions in the Slab-bag
Abstract: The zero-point energy of a massless fermion field in the interior of two parallel plates in a D-dimensional space-time at zero temperature is calculated. In order to regularize the model, a mix between dimensional and zeta-function regularization procedure is used and it is found that the regularized zero-point energy density is finite for any number of space-time dimensions.
