This study analyzes the mechanical and elemental properties of lunar meteorites DHOFAR 1084, JAH 838, NWA 11444, and HED meteorite NWA 6013. Utilizing microscale rock mechanics experiments, i.e., nanoindentation testing, this research reveals significant heterogeneity in both mechanical and elemental attributes across the minerals of the samples. Olivines, pyroxen, feldspar, and spinel demonstrate similar compositional and mechanical characteristics. Conversely, other silicate and oxide minerals display variations in their mechanical properties. Terrestrial olivines subjected to nanoindentation tests exhibit increased hardness and a higher Young's modulus compared to their lunar counterparts. A linear correlation is observed between the H/Er ratio and both plastic and elastic energies. Additionally, the alignment of mineral phases along a constant H/Er ratio suggests variations in local porosity. This study also highlights the need for further research focusing on porosity, phase insertions within the matrix, and structural orientations to refine our understanding of these mechanical characteristics. The findings have direct implications for in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) strategies and future state-of-the-art impact models. This comprehensive characterization serves as a foundational resource for future research efforts in space science and mining.

This paper provides an overview of the approach we used as team ISISTANITOS for the ACM RecSys Challenge 2023. The competition was organized by ShareChat, and involved predicting the probability of a user clicking an app ad and/or installing an app, to improve deep funnel optimization and a special focus on user privacy. Our proposed method inferring the probabilities of clicking and installing as two different, but related tasks. Hence, the model engineers a specific set of features for each task and a set of shared features. Our model is called Weighted Multi-Level Feature Factorization because it considers the interaction of different order features, where the order is associated to the depth in a neural network. The prediction for a given task is generated by combining the task specific and shared features on the different levels. Our submission achieved the 11 rank and overall score of 55 in the competition academia-track final results. We release our source code at: https://github.com/knife982000/RecSys2023Challenge

We make use of multiplicative degree-based topological indices $X_Π(G)$ to perform a detailed analytical and statistical study of random networks $G=(V(G),E(G))$. Specifically, we find analytical inequalities involving these multiplicative indices. Also, we apply $X_Π(G)$ on three models of random networks: Erdös-Rényi networks, random geometric graphs, and bipartite random networks. We show that $\left< \ln X_Π(G) \right>$, normalized to the order of the network, scale with the corresponding average degree; here $\left< \cdot \right>$ denotes the average over an ensemble of random networks.

We propose a two-dimensional flow model of a viscous fluid between two close moving surfaces. We show, using a formal asymptotic expansion of the solution, that its asymptotic behavior, when the distance between the two surfaces tends to zero, is the same as that of the the Navier-Stokes equations. The leading term of the formal asymptotic expansions of the solutions to the new model and Navier-Stokes equations are solution of the same limit problem, and the type of the limit problem depends on the boundary conditions. If slip velocity boundary conditions are imposed on the upper and lower bound surfaces, the limit is a solution of a lubrication model, but if the tractions and friction forces are known on both bound surfaces, the limit is a solution of a thin fluid layer model. The model proposed has been obtained to be a valuable tool for computing viscous fluid flow between two nearby moving surfaces, without the need to decide a priori whether the flow is typical of a lubrication or a thin fluid layer problem, and without the enormous computational effort that would be required to solve the Navier-Stokes equations in such a thin domain.

We also consider the limit cases $mSO_{α\to 0}(G)$ and $mSO_{α\to\pm\infty}(G)$. Indeed, for given values of $α$, the mean Sombor index is related to well-known topological indices such as the inverse sum indeg index, the reciprocal Randic index, the first Zagreb index, the Stolarsky--Puebla index and several Sombor indices. Moreover, through a quantitative structure property relationship (QSPR) analysis we show that $mSO_α(G)$ correlates well with several physicochemical properties of octane isomers. Some mathematical properties of mean Sombor indices as well as bounds and new relationships with known topological indices are also discussed.

Quantum computing holds great promise to solve to problems where classical computers cannot reach. To the point where it already arouses the interest of both scientific and industrial communities. Thus, it is expected that hybrid systems will start to appear where quantum software interacts with classical systems. Such coexistence can be fostered by service computing. Unfortunately, the way in which quantum code can be offered as a service still misses out on many of the potential benefits of service computing. This paper takes the traveling salesman problem, and tackles the challenge of giving it an implementation in the form of a quantum microservice. Then it is used to detect which of the benefits of service computing are lost in the process. The conclusions help to measure the distance between the current state of technology and the state that would be desirable in order to have a real quantum service engineering.

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is an evolutionary networking paradigm which has been adopted by large network and cloud providers, among which are Tech Giants. However, embracing a new and futuristic paradigm as an alternative to well-established and mature legacy networking paradigm requires a lot of time along with considerable financial resources and technical expertise. Consequently, many enterprises can not afford it. A compromise solution then is a hybrid networking environment (a.k.a. Hybrid SDN (hSDN)) in which SDN functionalities are leveraged while existing traditional network infrastructures are acknowledged. Recently, hSDN has been seen as a viable networking solution for a diverse range of businesses and organizations. Accordingly, the body of literature on hSDN research has improved remarkably. On this account, we present this paper as a comprehensive state-of-the-art survey which expands upon hSDN from many different perspectives.

Purpose. We present an approach for forecasting mental health conditions and emotions of a given population during the COVID-19 pandemic in Argentina based on language expressions used in social media. This approach permits anticipating high prevalence periods in short- to medium-term time horizons. Design. Mental health conditions and emotions are captured via markers, which link social media contents with lexicons. First, we build descriptive timelines for decision makers to monitor the evolution of markers, and their correlation with crisis events. Second, we model the timelines as time series, and support their forecasting, which in turn serve to identify high prevalence points for the estimated markers. Findings. Results showed that different time series forecasting strategies offer different capabilities. In the best scenario, the emergence of high prevalence periods of emotions and mental health disorders can be satisfactorily predicted with a neural network strategy, even when limited data is available in early stages of a crisis (e.g., 7 days). Originality. Although there have been efforts in the literature to predict mental states of individuals, the analysis of mental health at the collective level has received scarce attention. We take a step forward by proposing a forecasting approach for analyzing the mental health of a given population (or group of individuals) at a larger scale. Practical implications. We believe that this work contributes to a better understanding of how psychological processes related to crisis manifest in social media, being a valuable asset for the design, implementation and monitoring of health prevention and communication policies.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all aspects of society, not only bringing health hazards, but also posing challenges to public order, governments and mental health. Moreover, it is the first one in history in which people from around the world uses social media to massively express their thoughts and concerns. This study aims at examining the stages of crisis response and recovery as a sociological problem by operationalizing a well-known model of crisis stages in terms of a psycho-linguistic analysis. Based on a large collection of Twitter data spanning from March to August 2020 in Argentina, we present a thematic analysis on the differences in language used in social media posts, and look at indicators that reveal the different stages of a crisis and the country response thereof. The analysis was combined with a study of the temporal prevalence of mental health conversations across the time span. Beyond the Argentinian case-study, the proposed approach and analyses can be applied to any public large-scale data. This approach can provide insights for the design of public health politics oriented to monitor and eventually intervene during the different stages of a crisis, and thus improve the adverse mental health effects on the population.

Let $\mathcal{G}(g,c,n)$ be the set of graphs $G$ with girth $g(G)=g$, circumference $c(G)=c$, and $n$ vertices; and let $\mathcal{H}(g,c,m)$ be the set of graphs with girth $g$, circumference $c$, and $m$ edges. In this work, we study the four following extremal problems on graphs: $A(g,c,n)=\min\{δ(G)\,|\; G \in \mathcal{G}(g,c,n) \}$, $B(g,c,n)=\max\{δ(G)\,|\; G \in \mathcal{G}(g,c,n) \}$, $α(g,c,m)=\min\{δ(G)\,|\; \in \mathcal{H}(g,c,m) \}$ and $β(g,c,m)=\max\{δ(G)\,|\; G \in \mathcal{H}(g,c,m) \}$. In particular, we obtain bounds for $A(g,c,n)$ and $α(g,c,m)$, and we compute the precise value of $B(g,c,n)$ and $β(g,c,m)$ for all values of $g$, $c$, $n$ and $m$.

In this work we perform computational and analytical studies of the Randić index $R(G)$ in Erdös-Rényi models $G(n,p)$ characterized by $n$ vertices connected independently with probability $p \in (0,1)$. In this work we perform computational and analytical studies of the Randić index $R(G)$ in Erdös-Rényi models $G(n,p)$ characterized by $n$ vertices connected independently with probability $p \in (0,1)$. First, from a detailed scaling analysis, we show that $\left\langle \overline{R}(G) \right\rangle = \left\langle R(G)\right\rangle/(n/2)$ scales with the product $ξ\approx np$, so we can define three regimes: a regime of mostly isolated vertices when $ξ< 0.01$ ($R(G)\approx 0$), a transition regime for $0.01 < ξ< 10$ (where $0<R(G)< n/2$), and a regime of almost complete graphs for $ξ> 10$ ($R(G)\approx n/2$). Then, motivated by the scaling of $\left\langle \overline{R}(G) \right\rangle$, we analytically (i) obtain new relations connecting $R(G)$ with other topological indices and characterize graphs which are extremal with respect to the relations obtained and (ii) apply these results in order to obtain inequalities on $R(G)$ for graphs in Erdös-Rényi models.

Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), which has attracted much attention in the last years for lightweight manufacturing, represents an important challenge in terms of control technology. During the process, a resin fills the cavity where a reinforcement fabric has previously been layered. This resin undergoes a chemical reaction which is thermically activated. Therefore, assuring a proper reaction requires a precise control of temperature in the entire mold cavity. Three factors make this control problem especially hard: the coupling among the large number of actuators and sensors, the variability of the test conditions and the power limitations of the electric actuators which do not offer cooling capability. The present work describes an optimized Model Predictive Control (MPC) architecture capable of handling these difficulties and also achieving the tight control requirements needed in the application. The thermal distribution inside the mold cavity is included into the controller by a simplified Reduced Order Model (ROM). This representation is obtained by data from an experimentally validated Finite Element Model (FEM), using AutoRegressive model with eXogenous terms (ARX) identification. In order to maintain the simplicity of this linear representation, the time-varying model parameters are estimated by using a perturbation observer. Additionally, the performance of the basic algorithm is improved: firstly, an augmented observer to estimate the temperature distribution of an extended spatial resolution; and secondly, a symmetry condition in the calculation of the control commands. The developed architectures have successfully been implemented in a RTM tool with the fulfillment of the control requirements.

No evidence for a substantial intrinsic charm content of the nucleon is observed in the large Bjorken-$x$ region.

A Dalitz plot analysis of $B^0 \to η_c(1S) K^+π^-$ decays is performed using data samples of $pp$ collisions collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=7,~8$ and $13$ TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of $4.7~\text{fb}^{-1}$. A satisfactory description of the data is obtained when including a contribution representing an exotic $η_c(1S) π^-$ resonant state. The significance of this exotic resonance is more than three standard deviations, while its mass and width are $4096 \pm 20~^{+18}_{-22}$ MeV and $152 \pm 58~^{+60}_{-35}$ MeV, respectively. The spin-parity assignments $J^P=0^+$ and $J^{P}=1^-$ are both consistent with the data. In addition, the first measurement of the $B^0 \to η_c(1S) K^+π^-$ branching fraction is performed and gives $\displaystyle \mathcal{B}(B^0 \to η_c(1S) K^+π^-) = (5.73 \pm 0.24 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.66) \times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is due to limited knowledge of external branching fractions.

The LHCb Upgrade II will fully exploit the flavour-physics opportunities of the HL-LHC, and study additional physics topics that take advantage of the forward acceptance of the LHCb spectrometer. The LHCb Upgrade I will begin operation in 2020. Consolidation will occur, and modest enhancements of the Upgrade I detector will be installed, in Long Shutdown 3 of the LHC (2025) and these are discussed here. The main Upgrade II detector will be installed in long shutdown 4 of the LHC (2030) and will build on the strengths of the current LHCb experiment and the Upgrade I. It will operate at a luminosity up to $ 2 \times 10^{34} \rm cm^{-2}s^{-1}$, ten times that of the Upgrade I detector. New detector components will improve the intrinsic performance of the experiment in certain key areas. An Expression Of Interest proposing Upgrade II was submitted in February 2017. The physics case for the Upgrade II is presented here in more depth. $CP$-violating phases will be measured with precisions unattainable at any other envisaged facility. The experiment will probe $b\to s \ell^+\ell^-$ and $b\to d \ell^+\ell^-$ transitions in both muon and electron decays in modes not accessible at Upgrade I. Minimal flavour violation will be tested with a precision measurement of the ratio of $B(B^0\toμ^+μ^-)/B(B_s^0\to μ^+μ^-)$. Probing charm $CP$ violation at the $10^{-5}$ level may result in its long sought discovery. Major advances in hadron spectroscopy will be possible, which will be powerful probes of low energy QCD. Upgrade II potentially will have the highest sensitivity of all the LHC experiments on the Higgs to charm-quark couplings. Generically, the new physics mass scale probed, for fixed couplings, will almost double compared with the pre-HL-LHC era; this extended reach for flavour physics is similar to that which would be achieved by the HE-LHC proposal for the energy frontier.

An analysis of the angular distribution of the decay $Λ_b^0 \rightarrow Λμ^{+} μ^{-}$ is presented, using data collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2016 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately $5\,fb^{-1}$. Angular observables are determined using a moment analysis of the angular distribution at low hadronic recoil, corresponding to the dimuon invariant mass squared range $15 < q^{2} < 20\, GeV^2/c^4$. The full basis of observables is measured for the first time. The lepton-side, hadron-side and combined forward-backward asymmetries of the decay are determined to be \begin{align} A_{FB}^{l} & = -0.39 \pm 0.04\,\rm{stat} \pm 0.01\, \rm{syst}, \nonumber\\ A_{FB}^{h} & = -0.30 \pm 0.05\,\rm{stat} \pm 0.02\, \rm{syst}, \nonumber\\ A_{FB}^{lh} & = +0.25 \pm 0.04\,\rm{stat} \pm 0.01\, \rm{syst}. \nonumber \end{align} The measurements are consistent with Standard Model predictions.

The decay of the narrow resonance $\overline{B}{}_{s2}^{*0}\!\rightarrow B^- K^+$ can be used to determine the $B^-$ momentum in partially reconstructed decays without any assumptions on the decay products of the $B^-$ meson. This technique is employed for the first time to distinguish contributions from $D^0$, $D^{*0}$, and higher-mass charmed states ($D^{**0}$) in semileptonic $B^-$ decays by using the missing-mass distribution. The measurement is performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb${}^{-1}$ collected with the LHCb detector in $pp$ collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The resulting branching fractions relative to the inclusive $B^- \!\rightarrow D^0 X μ^- \overlineν_μ$ are $f_{D^0} = \mathcal{B}( B^- \rightarrow D^0μ^-\overlineν_μ)/\mathcal{B}( B^- \rightarrow D^0 X μ^- \overlineν_μ) = 0.25 \pm 0.06$, $f_{D^{**0}} = \mathcal{B}( B^- \rightarrow ( D^{**0} \rightarrow D^0 X)μ^-\overlineν_μ)/\mathcal{B}( B^- \rightarrow D^0 X μ^- \overlineν_μ) = 0.21 \pm 0.07$, with $f_{D^{*0}} = 1 - f_{D^0} - f_{D^{**0}}$ making up the remainder.

The $Ω_c^0$ lifetime is measured to be $τ_{Ω_c^0} = 268\pm24\pm10\pm2$ fs, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from the uncertainty in the $D^+$ lifetime, respectively. This value is nearly four times larger than, and inconsistent with, the current world-average value.

The fraction of longitudinal polarisation in this decay is measured to be ${f_{\rm L} =(73 \pm 15 \pm 3)\%}$. The most precise determination of the branching fraction for the $B_s^0 \to \overline{D}^{0} φ$ decay is also obtained, $\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to \overline{D}^{0} φ) = (3.0 \pm 0.3 \pm 0.2 \pm 0.2) \times 10^{-5}$. An upper limit, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to \overline{D}^{0} φ) < 2.0 \ (2.2) \times 10^{-6}$ at $90\%$ (95\%) confidence level is set. A constraint on the $ω-φ$ mixing angle $δ$ is set at $|δ| < 5.2^\circ~ (5.5^\circ)$ at $90\%$ ($95\%$) confidence level.

A measurement of $Z\rightarrowτ^+τ^-$ production cross-section is presented using data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb$^{-1}$, from $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV collected by the LHCb experiment. The $τ^+τ^-$ candidates are reconstructed in final states with the first tau lepton decaying leptonically, and the second decaying either leptonically or to one or three charged hadrons. The production cross-section is measured for $Z$ bosons with invariant mass between 60 and 120 GeV/$c^2$, which decay to tau leptons with transverse momenta greater than 20 GeV/$c$ and pseudorapidities between 2.0 and 4.5. The cross-section is determined to be $σ_{pp\rightarrow{}Z\rightarrow{}τ^+τ^-} = 95.8 \pm 2.1 \pm 4.6 \pm 0.2 \pm 1.1 \mathrm{pb}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, the third is due to the LHC beam energy uncertainty, and the fourth to the integrated luminosity uncertainty. This result is compatible with NNLO Standard model predictions. The ratio of the cross-sections for $Z\rightarrowτ^+τ^-$ to $Z\rightarrowμ^+μ^-$ ($Z\rightarrow{}e^+e^-$), determined to be $1.01 \pm 0.05$ ($1.02 \pm 0.06$), is consistent with the lepton-universality hypothesis in $Z$ decays.

A celebrated theorem of Kanai states that quasi-isometries preserve isoperimetric inequalities between uniform Riemannian manifolds (with positive injectivity radius) and graphs. Our main result states that we can study the (Cheeger) isoperimetric inequality in a Riemann surface by using a graph related to it, even if the surface has injectivity radius zero (this graph is inspired in Kanai's graph, but it is different from it). We also present an application relating Gromov boundary and isoperimetric inequality.

Measurements are reported of the central exclusive production of \jpsi and \psitwos mesons in $pp$ collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Backgrounds are significantly reduced compared to previous measurements made at lower energies through the use of new forward shower counters. The products of the cross-sections and the branching fractions for the decays to dimuons, where both muons are within the pseudorapidity range $2.0<η<4.5$, are measured to be $$
\begin{array}{rcl} σ_{J/ψ\rightarrowμ^+μ^-}&=&435 \pm 18 \pm 17 \pm 16 {\rm \ pb},\\ σ_{ψ(2S)\rightarrowμ^+μ^-}&=&11.1 \pm 1.1 \pm 0.3 \pm 0.4 {\rm \ pb}.\\ \end{array} $$ The first uncertainties are statistical, the second are systematic, and the third are due to the luminosity determination. The cross-sections are also measured differentially for meson rapidities between 2.0 and 4.5. Good agreement is observed with theoretical predictions. Photoproduction cross-sections are derived and compared to previous experiments, and a deviation from a pure power-law extrapolation of lower energy data is observed.

Abstract:
The first measurement of the lifetime of the doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ is presented, with the signal reconstructed in the final state $Λ_c^+ K^- π^+ π^+$. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of $1.7\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$, collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $13\mathrm{\,Te\kern -0.1em V}$. The $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ life…

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to obtain new sharp inequalities for a large family of topological indices, including the first variable Zagreb index $M_1^α$, and to characterize the set of extremal graphs with respect to them. Our main results provide lower bounds on this family of topological indices involving just the minimum and the maximum degree of the graph. These inequalities are new even for the…

These inequalities are new even for the first Zagreb, the inverse and the forgotten indices.
