We use samples of 2019 and 2020 data corresponding to 62.8 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. The samples are analysed using two-dimensional fits in $ΔE$ and $M_{\it bc}$ to determine signal yields of approximately 568, 103, and 115 decays for the channels $B^0 \to K^+π^-$, $B^+ \to K_{\rm S}^0π^+$, and $B^0 \to π^+π^-$, respectively. Signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries for flavour-specific channels. The results are compatible with known determinations and contribute important information to an early assessment of Belle II detector performance.

Recent experiments suggest the possibility to tune superconductivity in metallic nanowires by application of modest gate voltages. It is largely debated whether the effect is due to an electric field at the superconductor surface or small currents of high-energy electrons. We shed light on this matter by studying the suppression of superconductivity in sample geometries where the roles of electric field and electron-current flow can be clearly separated. Our results show that suppression of superconductivity does not depend on the presence or absence of an electric field at the surface of the nanowire, but requires a current of high-energy electrons. The suppression is most efficient when electrons are injected into the nanowire, but similar results are obtained also when electrons are passed between two remote electrodes at a distance $d$ to the nanowire (with $d$ in excess of $1~\mathrm{μm}$). In the latter case, high-energy electrons decay into phonons which propagate through the substrate and affect superconductivity in the nanowire by generating quasiparticles. We show that this process involves a non-thermal phonon distribution, with marked differences from the loss of superconductivity due to Joule heating near the nanowire or an increase in the bath temperature.

A novel measurement method is employed, which exploits topological properties of the $B^{+}\to K^{+}ν\barν$ decay that differ from both generic bottom-meson decays and light-quark pair production. This inclusive tagging approach offers a higher signal efficiency compared to previous searches. No significant signal is observed. An upper limit on the branching fraction of $B^{+}\to K^{+}ν\barν$ of $4.1 \times 10^{-5}$ is set at the 90% confidence level.

We present measurements of partial branching fractions of inclusive semileptonic $B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ decays using the full Belle data set of 711 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and for $\ell = e, μ$. Inclusive semileptonic $B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ decays are CKM suppressed and measurements are complicated by the large background from CKM-favored $B \to X_c \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ transitions, which have a similar signature. Using machine learning techniques, we reduce this and other backgrounds effectively, whilst retaining access to a large fraction of the $B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ phase space and high signal efficiency. We measure partial branching fractions in three phase-space regions covering about $31\%$ to $86\%$ of the accessible $B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ phase space. The most inclusive measurement corresponds to the phase space with lepton energies of $E_\ell^B > 1 $ GeV, and we obtain $Δ\mathcal{B}(B \to X_u \ell^+ \, ν_\ell) = \left( 1.59 \pm 0.07 \pm 0.16 \right) \times 10^{-3}$ from a two-dimensional fit of the hadronic mass spectrum and the four-momentum-transfer squared distribution, with the uncertainties denoting the statistical and systematic error. We find $\left| V_{ub} \right| = \left( 4.10 \pm 0.09 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.15 \right) \times 10^{-3}$ from an average of four calculations for the partial decay rate with the third uncertainty denoting the average theory error. This value is higher but compatible with the determination from exclusive semileptonic decays within 1.3 standard deviations. In addition, we report charmless inclusive partial branching fractions separately for $B^+$ and $B^0$ mesons as well as for electron and muon final states. No isospin breaking or lepton flavor universality violating effects are observed.

The solutions are allowed to take values in general separable Banach spaces. We show that weak uniqueness is equivalent to weak joint uniqueness, and thereby generalize a theorem by A.S. The search is performed by analyzing $772 \times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ events collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ energy-asymmetric collider at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. No signal is found in the dark photon mass range $0.01~\mathrm{GeV}/c^2 \le m_{A^{\prime}} \le 2.62~\mathrm{GeV}/c^2$, and we set upper limits of the branching fraction of $B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime}$ at the 90\% confidence level. The products of branching fractions, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime}) \times \mathcal{B}(A^{\prime} \to e^+ e^-)^2$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime}) \times \mathcal{B}(A^{\prime} \to μ^+ μ^-)^2$, have limits of the order of $10^{-8}$ depending on the $A^{\prime}$ mass. Furthermore, considering $A^{\prime}$ decay rate to each pair of charged particles, the upper limits of $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime})$ are of the order of $10^{-8}$-$10^{-5}$. From the upper limits of $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime})$, we obtain the Higgs portal coupling for each assumed dark photon and dark Higgs mass. The Higgs portal couplings are of the order of $10^{-2}$-$10^{-1}$ at $m_{h'} \simeq m_{B^0} \pm 40~\mathrm{MeV}/c^2$ and $10^{-1}$-$1$ at $m_{h'} \simeq m_{B^0} \pm 3~\mathrm{GeV}/c^2$.

Photon echoes in rare-earth-doped crystals are studied to understand the challenges of making broadband quantum memories using the atomic frequency comb (AFC) protocol in systems with hyperfine structure. The hyperfine structure of Pr^{3+} poses an obstacle to this goal because frequencies associated with the hyperfine transitions change the simple picture of modulation at an externally imposed frequency. The current work focuses on the intermediate case where the hyperfine spacing is comparable to the comb spacing, a challenging regime that has recently been considered. Operating in this regime may facilitate storing quantum information over a larger spectral range in such systems.
In this work, we prepare broadband AFCs using optical combs with tooth spacings ranging from 1 MHz to 16 MHz in fine steps, and measure transmission spectra and photon echoes for each. We predict the spectra and echoes theoretically using the optical combs as input to either a rate equation code or a density matrix code, which calculates the redistribution of populations. We then use the redistributed populations as input to a semiclassical theory using the frequency-dependent dielectric function. The two sets of predictions each give a good, but different account of the photon echoes.

We present a multiloop pseudofermion functional renormalization group (pffRG) approach to quantum spin systems. As a test case, we study the spin-$\tfrac{1}{2}$ Heisenberg model on the kagome lattice, a prime example of a geometrically frustrated magnet believed to host a quantum spin liquid. Our main physical result is that, at pure nearest-neighbor coupling, the system shows indications for an algebraic spin liquid through slower-than-exponential decay with distance for the static spin susceptibility, while the pseudofermion self-energy develops intriguing low-energy features. Methodologically, the pseudofermion representation of spin models inherently yields a strongly interacting system, and the quantitative reliability of a truncated fRG flow is \textit{a priori} unclear. Our main technical result is the demonstration of convergence in loop number within multiloop pffRG. Through correspondence with the self-consistent parquet equations, this provides further evidence for the internal consistency of the approach. The loop order required for convergence of the pseudofermion vertices is rather large, but the spin susceptibility is more benign, appearing almost fully converged for loop orders $\ell \geq 5$. The multiloop flow remains stable as the infrared cutoff $Λ$ is reduced relative to the microscopic exchange interaction $J$, allowing us to reach values of $Λ/J$ on the subpercent level in the spin-liquid phase. By contrast, solving the parquet equations via direct fixed-point iteration becomes increasingly difficult for low $Λ/J$. We also scrutinize the pseudofermion constraint of single occupation per site, which is only fulfilled on average in pffRG, by explicitly computing fermion-number fluctuations. Although the latter are not entirely suppressed, we find that they do not affect the qualitative conclusions drawn from the spin susceptibility.

These values are consistent with the Standard Model predictions. The significance of $C\!P$ violation differs from zero by 2.5 standard deviations.

In the absence of a signal, $90\%$ confidence-level upper limits are set on the branching fractions of these decays in the range $(1.8$-$4.0)\times 10^{-8}$. We set the world's first limits on the first four channels and improve the existing limits by an order of magnitude for the last two channels.

We propose a method to learn image representations from uncurated videos. We combine a supervised loss from off-the-shelf object detectors and self-supervised losses which naturally arise from the video-shot-frame-object hierarchy present in each video. We report competitive results on 19 transfer learning tasks of the Visual Task Adaptation Benchmark (VTAB), and on 8 out-of-distribution-generalization tasks, and discuss the benefits and shortcomings of the proposed approach. In particular, it improves over the baseline on all 18/19 few-shot learning tasks and 8/8 out-of-distribution generalization tasks. Finally, we perform several ablation studies and analyze the impact of the pretrained object detector on the performance across this suite of tasks.

We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $34.6$\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔE$ distributions of the resulting samples, restricted in $M_{\rm bc}$, are fit to determine signal yields. Signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries for flavour-specific channels. These are the first measurements in charmless decays reported by Belle~II. Results are compatible with known determinations and show detector performance comparable with the best Belle results offering a reliable basis to assess projections for future reach.

In the Standard Model (SM) charmless hadronic decays $B_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η$ proceed via tree-level $b\to u$ and penguin $b\to s$ transitions. Penguin transitions are sensitive to Beyond-the-Standard-Model (BSM) physics scenarios and could affect the branching fractions and {\it CP} asymmetries in such decays. Once branching fractions for two-body decays $B_s \to ηη, ηη^{\prime}, η^{\prime}η^{\prime} $ are measured, and the theoretical uncertainties are reduced, it would be possible to extract {\it CP} violating parameters from the data using the formalism based on SU(3)/U(3) symmetry. To achieve this goal, at least four of these six branching fractions need to be measured. Only the branching fraction for $B_s^0 \to η^{\prime}η^{\prime}$ has been measured so far.

We present measurements of the first six hadronic mass moments in semileptonic $B \rightarrow X_c \ell ν$ decays. The hadronic mass moments, together with other observables of inclusive $B$ decays, can be used to determine the CKM matrix element $|{V_{cb}}|$ and mass of the $b$-quark $m_b$ in the context of Heavy Quark Expansions of QCD. The Belle~II data recorded at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance in 2019 and 2020 (March-July), corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $34.6\;\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$, is used for this measurement. The decay $Υ(4S) \rightarrow B \overline{B}$ is reconstructed by applying the hadronic tagging algorithm provided by the Full Event Interpretation to fully reconstruct one $B$ meson. The second $B$ meson is reconstructed inclusively by selecting a high-momentum lepton. The $X_c$ system is identified by the remaining reconstructed tracks and clusters in the electromagnetic calorimeter. We report preliminary results for the hadronic mass moments $\langle M_X^n \rangle $ with $n=1,\dots,6$, measured as a function of a lower cut on the lepton momentum in the signal $B$ rest frame.

Belle II is a rapidly growing collaboration with members from one hundred and nineteen institutes spread around the globe. The software development team of the experiment, as well as the software users, are very much decentralised. Together with the active development of the software, such decentralisation makes the adoption of the latest software releases by users an essential, but quite challenging task. To ensure the relevance of the documentation, we adopted the policy of in-code documentation and configured a website that allows us to tie the documentation to given releases. To prevent tutorials from becoming outdated, we covered them by unit-tests. For the user support, we use a question and answer service that not only reduces repetition of the same questions but also turned out to be a place for discussions among the experts. A prototype of a metasearch engine for the different sources of documentation has been developed. For training of the new users, we organise centralised StarterKit workshops attached to the collaboration meetings. The materials of the workshops are later used for self-education and organisation of local training sessions.

Using 980 $fb^-1$ of data collected with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider, we report a study of the electromagnetic decays of excited {charmed baryons} $Ξ_c(2790)$ and $Ξ_c(2815)$. A clear signal (8.6 standard deviations) is observed for $Ξ_c(2815)^0 \to Ξ_c^0γ$, and we measure:
$B[Ξ_c(2815)^0 \to Ξ_c^0γ]/B[Ξ_c(2815)^0 \to Ξ_c(2645)^+π^- \to Ξ_c^0π^+π^-] = 0.41 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.03$.
We also present evidence (3.8 standard deviations) for the similar decay of the $Ξ_c(2790)^0$ and measure:
$B[Ξ_c(2790)^{0}\toΞ_c^{0}γ]/B[Ξ_c(2790)^0\toΞ_c^{\prime +}π^{-}\toΞ_c^{+}γπ^-] = 0.13 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.02$.
The first quoted uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. We find no hint of the analogous decays of the $Ξ_c(2815)^+$ and $Ξ_c(2790)^+$ baryons and set upper limits at the 90% confidence level of: $B[Ξ_c(2815)^{+}\toΞ_c^{+}γ]/B[Ξ_c(2815)^+\toΞ_c(2645)^0π^+\toΞ_c^+π^-π^+] < 0.09,$ and $B[Ξ_c(2790)^{+}\toΞ_c^{+}γ]/B[Ξ_c(2790)^+\toΞ_c^{\prime 0}π^{+}\toΞ_c^{0}γπ^+] < 0.06.$
Approximate values of the partial widths of the decays are extracted, which can be used to discriminate between models of the underlying quark structure of these excited states.

Common and community software packages, such as ROOT, Geant4 and event generators have been a key part of the LHC's success so far and continued development and optimisation will be critical in the future. The challenges are driven by an ambitious physics programme, notably the LHC accelerator upgrade to high-luminosity, HL-LHC, and the corresponding detector upgrades of ATLAS and CMS. In this document we address the issues for software that is used in multiple experiments (usually even more widely than ATLAS and CMS) and maintained by teams of developers who are either not linked to a particular experiment or who contribute to common software within the context of their experiment activity. We also give space to general considerations for future software and projects that tackle upcoming challenges, no matter who writes it, which is an area where community convergence on best practice is extremely useful.

The systematic uncertainties are limited by the statistics of auxiliary measurements and will improve in the future. Tag-side reconstruction is an important method for reconstructing $B$ meson decays with missing energy. The Belle II tag-side reconstruction algorithm, Full Event Interpretation, relies on a hierarchical reconstruction of $B$ meson decays with multivariate classification employed at each stage of reconstruction. Given the large numbers of classifiers employed and decay chains reconstructed, the performance of the algorithm on data and simulation differs significantly. Here, calibration factors are derived for hadronic tag-side $B$ decays by measuring a signal side decay, $B \rightarrow X\ell ν$, in $34.6$ fb$^{-1}$ of Belle II data. For a very loose selection on the tag-side $B$ multivariate classifier, the calibration factors are $0.65 \pm 0.02$ and $0.83 \pm 0.03$ for tag-side $B^{+}$ and $B^{0}$ mesons, respectively.

The enhancement of charged-particle pairs with large pseudorapidity difference and small azimuthal angle difference, often referred to as the ``ridge signal'', is a phenomenon widely observed in high multiplicity proton-proton, proton-ion and deutron-ion collisions, which is not yet fully understood. In heavy-ion collisions, the hydrodynamic expansion of the Quark-Gluon Plasma is one of the possible explanations of the origin of the ridge signal. Measurements in the $e^+e^-$ collision system, without the complexities introduced by hadron structure in the initial state, can serve as a complementary probe to examine the formation of a ridge signal. The first measurement of two-particle angular correlation functions in high multiplicity $e^+e^-$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=10.52$ GeV is reported. The hadronic $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected by the Belle detector at KEKB are used in this study. Two-particle angular correlation functions are measured over the full azimuth and large pseudorapidity intervals which are defined by either the electron beam axis or the event thrust as a function of charged particle multiplicity. The measurement in the event thrust analysis, with mostly outgoing quark pairs determining the reference axis, is sensitive to the region of additional soft gluon emissions. No significant ridge signal is observed with either coordinates analyses. Near side jet correlations appear to be absent in the thrust axis analysis. The measurements are compared to predictions from various event generators and expected to provide new constraints to the phenomenological models in the low energy regime.

Each channel is observed with a significance that exceeds 5 standard deviations, and we obtain measurements of their branching ratios that are in good agreement with the world averages. For the $B \to φK^*$ modes, we also perform a measurement of the longitudinal polarization fraction $f_L$.

We report on the first calibration of the standard Belle II $B$-flavor tagger using the full data set collected at the $Υ(4{\rm S})$ resonance in 2019 with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider, corresponding to 8.7 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. The calibration is performed by reconstructing various hadronic charmed $B$-meson decays with flavor-specific final states. We use simulation to optimize our event selection criteria and to train the flavor tagging algorithm. We determine the tagging efficiency and the fraction of wrongly identified tag-side $B$~candidates from a measurement of the time-integrated $B^0-\overline{B}^0$ mixing probability. The total effective efficiency is measured to be $\varepsilon_{\rm eff} = \big(33.8 \pm 3.6(\text{stat}) \pm 1.6(\text{sys})\big)\%$, which is in good agreement with the predictions from simulation and comparable with the best one obtained by the Belle experiment. The results show a good understanding of the detector performance and offer a basis for future calibrations.

We report results from a study of the spin and parity of $Ξ_{c}(2970)^+$ using a $980~\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$ data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The decay angle distributions in the chain $Ξ_{c}(2970)^+ \to Ξ_c(2645)^{0}π^{+} \to Ξ_c^{+}π^{-}π^{+}$ are analyzed to determine the spin of this charmed-strange baryon. The angular distributions strongly favor the $Ξ_{c}(2970)^+$ spin $J =1/2$ over $3/2$ or $5/2$, under an assumption that the lowest partial wave dominates in the decay. We also measure the ratio of $Ξ_{c}(2970)^+$ decay branching fractions $R={\mathcal{B}[ Ξ_{c}(2970)^+ \to Ξ_c(2645)^{0}π^{+} ]} / { \mathcal{B}[ Ξ_{c}(2970)^+ \to Ξ_c^{\prime0}π^{+} ]} =1.67 \pm 0.29\mathrm{(stat.)}^{ +0.15}_{ -0.09}\mathrm{(syst.)} \pm 0.25\mathrm{(IS)}$, where the last uncertainty is due to possible isospin-symmetry-breaking effects. This $R$ value favors the spin-parity $J^P=1/2^+$ with the spin of the light-quark degrees of freedom $s_{l}=0$. This is the first determination of the spin and parity of a charmed-strange baryon.

Light pseudoscalars interacting predominantly with standard model gauge bosons (so-called axion-like particles or ALPs) are frequently postulated in extensions of the standard model. We find no evidence for ALPs and set 95% confidence level upper limits on the coupling strength $g_{aγγ}$ of ALPs to photons at the level of $10^{-3}\,{\text{GeV}^{-1}}$. The limits are the most restrictive to date for $0.2\,<\,m_a\,<\,1\,{\text{GeV/$c$}^2}$.

We report on the reconstruction of various charmless $B$ decays from electron-positron collisions at the energy corresponding to the $Υ(4S)$ resonance collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. We use simulation to devise optimized event selections and apply them to the full data set collected in 2019, corresponding to 8.7\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the difference between half of the collision energy and the $B$ candidate energy (in the $Υ(4S)$ frame) for events restricted to a signal-rich range in beam-energy-constrained mass to search for charmless signals. Signal yields of approximately 80, 15, 20, 30, 90, and 160 decays are reconstructed for the channels $B^0 \to K^+π^-$, $B^0 \to π^+π^-$, $B^+ \to K^0_S(\to π^+π^-)π^+$, $B^+ \to K^+π^0(\to γγ)$, $B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+$, and $B^+ \to K^+π^-π^+$, respectively. Yields and background contaminations are compatible with those expected from simulation and comparable with those obtained by the Belle experiment. The results show a good understanding of the detector performance and offer a reliable basis to assess projections for future reach.

Each candidate is fully reconstructed with hadronic decay final states on the signal side, while the rest-of-event technique allows to infer the decay vertex position on the other (tag) side. $B^0$ lifetime is extracted from an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the distribution of the difference between the signal side $B^0$ candidate and the tag side decay times. The measured lifetime is $τ_{B^0} = 1.48 \pm 0.28 \pm 0.06 $ ps, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

Fast cryogenic switches with ultra-low power dissipation are highly sought-after for control electronics of quantum computers, space applications and next generation logic circuits. However, existing high-frequency switches are often bulky, lossy or require large source-drain and gate currents for operation, making them unsuitable for many applications and difficult to interface to semiconducting devices. Here we present an electrically controlled superconducting switch based on a metallic nanowire. Transition from superconducting to resistive state is realized by tunneling of high-energy electrons from a gate contact through an insulating barrier. Operating gate currents are several orders of magnitude smaller than the nanowire critical source-drain current, effectively resulting in a voltage-controlled device. This superconducting switch is fast, self-resets from normal to superconducting state, and can operate in large magnetic fields, making it an ideal component for low-power cryogenic applications and quantum computing architectures.

One major bottleneck in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is the limited number of critical care beds. Due to the dynamic development of infections and the time lag between when patients are infected and when a proportion of them enters an intensive care unit (ICU), the need for future intensive care can easily be underestimated. To infer future ICU load from reported infections, we suggest a simple statistical model that (1) accounts for time lags and (2) allows for making predictions depending on different future growth of infections. We have evaluated our model for three regions, namely Berlin (Germany), Lombardy (Italy), and Madrid (Spain). Before extensive containment measures made an impact, we first estimate the region-specific model parameters. Whereas for Berlin, an ICU rate of 6%, a time lag of 6 days, and an average stay of 12 days in ICU provide the best fit of the data, for Lombardy and Madrid the ICU rate was higher (18% and 15%) and the time lag (0 and 3 days) and the average stay (4 and 8 days) in ICU shorter. The region-specific models are then used to predict future ICU load assuming either a continued exponential phase with varying growth rates (0-15%) or linear growth. Thus, the model can help to predict a potential exceedance of ICU capacity. Although our predictions are based on small data sets and disregard non-stationary dynamics, our model is simple, robust, and can be used in early phases of the disease when data are scarce.

We present the results of the first Dalitz plot analysis of the decay $D^{0}\to K^{-}π^{+}η$. The analysis is performed on a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 953 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$ collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ KEKB collider. The Dalitz plot is well described by a combination of the six resonant decay channels $\bar{K}^{*}(892)^0η$, $K^{-}a_0(980)^+$, $K^{-}a_2(1320)^+$, $\bar{K}^{*}(1410)^0η$, $K^{*}(1680)^-π^{+}$ and $K_2^{*}(1980)^-π^{+}$, together with $Kπ$ and $Kη$ S-wave components. The decays $K^{*}(1680)^{-}\to K^{-}η$ and $K_{2}^{*}(1980)^{-}\to K^{-}η$ are observed for the first time. We measure ratio of the branching fractions, $\frac{\mathcal{B}(D^{0}\to K^{-}π^{+}η)}{\mathcal{B}(D^{0}\to K^{-}π^{+})}=0.500\pm0.002{\rm(stat)}\pm0.020{\rm(syst)}\pm0.003{\rm (\mathcal{B}_{PDG})}$. Using the Dalitz fit result, the ratio $\frac{\mathcal{B}(K^{*}(1680)\to Kη)}{\mathcal{B}(K^{*}(1680)\to Kπ)}$ is measured to be $0.11\pm0.02{\rm(stat)}^{+0.06}_{-0.04}{\rm(syst)}\pm0.04{\rm(\mathcal{B}_{\text{PDG}})}$; this is much lower than the theoretical expectations ($\approx1$) made under the assumption that $K^{*}(1680)$ is a pure $1^{3}D_1$ state. The product branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(D^0\to [K_2^{*}(1980)^-\to K^{-}η]π^{+})=(2.2^{+1.7}_{-1.9})\times10^{-4}$ is determined. In addition, the $πη^{\prime}$ contribution to the $a_0(980)^{\pm}$ resonance shape is confirmed with 10.1$σ$ statistical significance using the three-channel Flatté model. We also measure $\mathcal{B}(D^0\to\bar{K}^{*}(892)^0η)=(1.41^{+0.13}_{-0.12})\%$. This is consistent with, and more precise than, the current world average $(1.02\pm0.30)\%$, deviates with a significance of more than $3σ$ from the theoretical predictions of (0.51-0.92)%.

We report new measurements of the production cross sections of pairs of charged pions and kaons as a function of their fractional energies using various fractional-energy definitions. Two different fractional-energy definitions were used and compared to the conventional fractional-energy definition reported previously. The new variables aim at either identifying dihadron cross sections in terms of single-hadron fragmentation functions, or to provide a means of characterizing the transverse momentum created in the fragmentation process. The results were obtained applying the updated initial-state radiation correction used in other recent Belle publications on light-hadron production cross sections. In addition, production cross sections of single charged pions, kaons, and protons were also updated using this initial-state radiation correction. The cross sections are obtained from a $558\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider.

We do not find any excess of events and set 90\% credibility level upper limits on the cross sections of these processes. We translate the former, in the framework of an $L_μ-L_τ$ theory, into upper limits on the $Z^{\prime}$ coupling constant at the level of $5 \times 10^{-2}$ -- $1$ $M_{Z^\prime}\leq 6$ GeV/$c^2$.

We propose a general framework for self-supervised learning of transferable visual representations based on Video-Induced Visual Invariances (VIVI). We consider the implicit hierarchy present in the videos and make use of (i) frame-level invariances (e.g. stability to color and contrast perturbations), (ii) shot/clip-level invariances (e.g. robustness to changes in object orientation and lighting conditions), and (iii) video-level invariances (semantic relationships of scenes across shots/clips), to define a holistic self-supervised loss. Training models using different variants of the proposed framework on videos from the YouTube-8M (YT8M) data set, we obtain state-of-the-art self-supervised transfer learning results on the 19 diverse downstream tasks of the Visual Task Adaptation Benchmark (VTAB), using only 1000 labels per task. We then show how to co-train our models jointly with labeled images, outperforming an ImageNet-pretrained ResNet-50 by 0.8 points with 10x fewer labeled images, as well as the previous best supervised model by 3.7 points using the full ImageNet data set.

We report the result for a search for the leptonic decay of $B^+ \to μ^+ \, ν_μ$ using the full Belle data set of 711 fb${}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. In the Standard Model leptonic $B$-meson decays are helicity and CKM suppressed. To maximize sensitivity an inclusive tagging approach is used to reconstruct the second $B$ meson produced in the collision. The directional information from this second $B$ meson is used to boost the observed $μ$ into the signal $B$ meson rest-frame, in which the $μ$ has a monochromatic momentum spectrum. Though its momentum is smeared by the experimental resolution, this technique improves the analysis sensitivity considerably. Analyzing the $μ$ momentum spectrum in this frame we find $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to μ^+ \, ν_μ) = \left( 5.3 \pm 2.0 \pm 0.9 \right) \times 10^{-7}$ with a one-sided significance of 2.8 standard deviations over the background-only hypothesis. This translates to a frequentist upper limit of $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to μ^+ \, ν_μ) < 8.6 \times 10^{-7}$ at 90% CL. The experimental spectrum is then used to search for a massive sterile neutrino, $B^+ \to μ^+ \, N$, but no evidence is observed for a sterile neutrino with a mass in a range of 0 - 1.5 GeV. The determined $B^+ \to μ^+ \, ν_μ$ branching fraction limit is further used to constrain the mass and coupling space of the type II and type III two-Higgs-doublet models.
