Chiral-vacuum excited replicae in QCD modeling
Abstract: We present a detailed study of the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) gap equation ``replicae'' or excited vacuum states, orthogonal to the ground-state one, in the chiral-quark sector of the Hamiltonian Coulomb-gauge model of chromodynamics. Analyzing the number of negative eigenmodes of the energy density's Hessian we believe that we have identified all of the (negative energy-density) vacua of thi… ▽ More

Chiral symmetry and the properties of hadrons in the Generalised Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model
Abstract: Various aspects of the Generalised Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model for QCD in four dimensions are reviewed. The properties of mesonic excitations are discussed in detail, with special attention paid to the chiral pion. The spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking in the vacuum and the effective chiral symmetry restoration in the spectrum of highly excited mesons and baryons are described microscopically.

Quark condensate for various heavy flavors
Abstract: The quark condensate is calculated within the world-line effective-action formalism, by using for the Wilson loop an ansatz provided by the stochastic vacuum model. Starting with the relation between the quark and the gluon condensates in the heavy-quark limit, we diminish the current quark mass down to the value of the inverse vacuum correlation length, finding in this way a 64%-decrease in the a… ▽ More

Regge-like quark-antiquark excitations in the effective-action formalism
Abstract: Radial excitations of the quark-antiquark string swee** the Wilson-loop area are considered in the framework of the effective-action formalism. Identifying these excitations with the daughter Regge trajectories, we find corrections which they produce to the constituent quark mass. The energy of the quark-antiquark pair turns out to be mostly saturated by the constituent quark masses, rather than… ▽ More

Dark quark domains
Abstract: Formation of stable domains filled with strongly correlated coherent quark matter is discussed in general terms and is exemplified further in the framework of the Generalised Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. It is argued that such domains, if exist in the Universe, appear dark to an external observer.

QCD relics from the early Universe
Abstract: We suggest the possibility of creation in the early Universe of stable domains of radius a few kilometers wide, formed by coherently excited states of $π$-mesons. Such domains appear dark to an external observer, since the decay rate of the said coherent pionic states into photons is vanishingly small. The related thermal insulation of the domains from the outer world could have allowed them to su… ▽ More

Quantifying zigzag motion of quarks
Abstract: The quark condensate is calculated in terms of the effective string tension and the constituent quark mass. For 3 colors and 2 light flavors, the constituent mass is bounded from below by the value of 460 MeV. This value is only accessible when the string tension decreases linearly with the Schwinger proper time. For this reason, the Hausdorff dimension of a light-quark trajectory is equal to 4, i… ▽ More

Real-time approach to quark confined systems at finite temperatures
Abstract: Generalised Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model for QCD is considered at finite temperatures in the framework of a real-time formalism. The proposed approach allows one to study various properties of the model at T>0, such as chiral symmetry breaking and restoration, properties of the bound-state spectrum, and so on.

Parity doublers in chiral potential quark models
Abstract: The effect of spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry over the spectrum of highly excited hadrons is addressed in the framework of a microscopic chiral potential quark model (Generalised Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model) with a vectorial instantaneous quark kernel of a generic form. A heavy-light quark-antiquark bound system is considered, as an example, and the Lorentz nature of the effective light-qua… ▽ More

Microscopic derivation of the pion coupling to heavy-light mesons
Abstract: The Goldberger--Treiman relation for heavy--light systems is derived in the context of a quark model. As a paradigmatic example, the case of ${\bar D}\to {\bar D}' π$ is studied in detail. The fundamental role played by the pion two-component wave function, in the context of the Salpeter equation, is emphasized.

Mesonic states in the generalised Nambu-Jona-Lasinio theories
Abstract: For any Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model of QCD with arbitrary nonlocal, instantaneous, quark current-current confining kernels, we use a generalised Bogoliubov technique to go beyond BCS level (in the large-Nc limit) so as to explicitly build quark-antiquark compound operators for creating/annihilating mesons. Mesonic states and vacuum replicas in potential quark models for QCD
Abstract: In this paper, we study generic non-local NJL models for four-dimensional QCD in the limit of a large number of colours. Field theory description of vacuum replicas
Abstract: In this paper we develop a systematic quantum field theory based approach to the vacuum replica recently found to exist in effective low energy models in hadronic physics. A local operator creating the replica state is constructed explicitly. We show that a new effective quark-quark force arises in result of replica existence. Phenomenological implications of such a force are also briefly discus… ▽ More

Vacuum replicas in QCD
Abstract: The properties of the vacuum are addressed in the two- and four-dimensional quark models for QCD. It is demonstrated that the two-dimensional QCD ('t Hooft model) possesses only one possible vacuum state - the solution to the mass-gap equation, which provides spontaneous breaking of the chiral symmetry (SBCS). On the contrary, the four-dimensional theory with confinement modeled by the linear po… ▽ More
